SIM CARD!?!?!?!?!? - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my rooted nook hd, and when looking through any cut, it had a setting for a sim card! So I made the shortcut, opened it, and it worked! But, I need a passcode. Been on like 10 pages of google search, and am I the only one who noticed this!?!?! I don't know the passcode, can any1 help?

I'm pretty sure even if you found a password, it will do you no good because there is no sim card in a Nook. It's just there because it's in CM code for other devices that have a sim card.

Has anyone used Super Sim simcard writer?

I just picked up a cool device to copy multiple sim cards and write them on to one sime card. It allows having accounts (with various sim cards) in various countries and being able to write all those account details onto just one card.
Unfortuantely, the instructions are in Chinese, and I am not completely certaon how it works. Also, the english page on their website doesn't work.
Has anyone used one of these devices?

[Q] How to bypass google login without a micro sd card.

So I have a problem and I wanted to know if anyone can help. So I bought a T-mobile G1 off craigslist with no accessories or anything (like a micro sd card). When I turn on the phone it makes me login to Google and there's no way to skip it. I'm pretty sure it has the RC30 update because I've tried a couple of different methods to skip it and none of them work. I heard if you flash a custom rom it removes all the google logon but I don't have a micro sd card to do that. So my question is does anybody know a way to bypass the login with google on a RC30 with no micro sd or a t-mobile sim with data.
Also, I have AT&T and I'm planing to unlock the phone but even if I do that I still don't have data on my plan so it wont help much.
I solved my own problem, I bought a micro SD and then followed this HERE. I guess there's no way to bypass it on RC30 without downgrading with a microSD.
Can't log in through wifi? Or just don't want to? Tried tapping the 4 corners of the screen (top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left, in that order)
It wont let you connect with wifi or I can't get it to. Yes i tried that alot of times -.-

[Q] Can't set APN, and other SIM problems

Hello,
I have problem with SIM card on my phone. I'm using Temasek's CM 10.1, Kowalski kernel, and V20I-EUR-XX baseband. When phone boots, I normally input my PIN, but it doesn't connect to network, I have to go to Mobile networks and Choose operator automatically, then it connects. I can call and send messages normally, but when the call hangs (me or the other side) it says SIM card error (something like that). Also I can't save APN. In APN settings there is nothing, and when I create APN manually, I input everything and press save, but it doesn't stay, APN's remain empty. I use micro-SIM with adapter, because my operator couldn't get me normal SIM at a time. I'm on Croatian provider VIP. Everything normally worked with micro-SIM from Tele-2 provider (although on CM 10, and CM 7, didn't test it on CM 10.1).
Is it related to my SIM card or SW (ROM or baseband)?

Not sure if you read my post, but I think we are having the same issue regarding the APN, etc.
Not been able to solve mine yet, perhaps together we can put out enough info that someone here can offer a solution? I haven't changed the baseband or kernel on their own, only went from stock 2.3.3, to CM10.1, then to CM7.2.
Are you able to remove the SIM PIN? If you remove the SIM PIN from security, are you able to save APN?
Does your phone access data with the native SIM card the phone was originally locked to?

It seems that PIN is already disabled in Settings-Security-SIM card lock settings :silly:
I called my old operator and they told me my phone was sold locked, and new operator told me they can't help because I didn't buy the phone from them. But then how it works now for calls and messages?
I don't have any other SIM with me so I can't test it with my phone. You say going back to CM7 didn't help? I guess I shouldn't try that then.
Maybe flashing stock ICS would? Any other suggestions?

I haven't tried stock ICS yet; maybe it would? I will try that tonight.
Mine shows the SIM PIN on, when I try to change it it asks for my old code, which I don't have of course, so I can't remove the security. Been hoping that someone else would have had experience or knowledge of what would cause the problem and have a solution or suggestion to try. The closest I came was on a different forum about a Sony Ericsson phone, but the rooting and flashing procedures are so much different I couldn't see a solution in it, though they suggested flashing the baseband iirc.
HMMMM, now that I read your reply, I can't say with 100% certainty that the phone was unlocked before I rooted and flashed CM10.1.....I had thought it was but perhaps it wasn't, and we are having a more similar issue than I thought. So the glitch, perhaps, is that it was not unlocked, the custom ROM somehow "half" unlocked it, and here we are stuck.
Okay, my only thought then is to take it back to stock everything, the most up to date I can find, then unlock it with code, and see if I can change the APN at that point. If so, I will root it, use My Back Up Root to save settings including APN (just in case so at least I can restore it that way if I can't do it manually, after)flash CM10.1 again or another fabulous custom ROM which is what I really wanted in the first place
I will try that tonight, and post you the results. Let me know if you have any (better) suggestions as well, I'm up to try almost anything at this point. Was hoping to upgrade to this for my daily phone as I'm limping along with a Acer Liquid MT that has seen better days
If anyone has a link to quickly point me towards the latest stock ROM etc. and wants to post here, I would be much obliged Might save this noob a few hours scratching his head to find what is most certainly in front of my nose already, but I digress...
Cheers
New baseband
I just flashed V30A baseband, and it didn't help. We can cross that from the list.
Well colour me confused...and happy?
I just today picked this project up again, about to attempt a different fix, again...*sigh.
Lo and behold, i insert my sim and power on the phone, and it asks me for network sim unlock.....odd because I'd used the phone with this sim before, through all my other testing, flashed different roms, etc. etc. In fact, I've used the phone on this very package, I know because there are sms messages on the phone from using it. Battery pull, remove sim and check, yup sure enough, old messages there. Hmmm...
Insert sim, reboot, asks for unlock code again. Well, what have I got to lose at this point right? As I said before, I THOUGHT I had unlocked the phone before starting this whole debacle, but wasn't 100% certain about it. Searched my email for the code since I always save them, couldn't find it. Well, in for a penny, in for a pound I suppose. Bought a new unlock code, waited for it to arrive. Input new unlock code, unlock successful!!
Reboot phone....waiting for service....(this seems like forever!!! In reality, less that 60 seconds.) Alas, I have service. And now, just to tempt fate, Apps->settings->wireless & networks->more->mobile networks->access point names..........:fingers-crossed:
I can hardly believe my eyes, there it be, Rogers Internet apn selected. It even auto-detected the damn thing!!
I can offer no further insight, I don't believe I physically did anything to arrive at this remedy. But there you go, for my part at least it's solved.

[Q] AOSP, 4G, and Sim Card

OK, sorry if this has been addressed somewhere directly but after nearly 2 days of banging my head around the forums and google I can't seem to find a solution intended for my purpose....
Basically, I have yet to find an AOSP Rom(which i heavily prefer to Sense Roms) that recognizes my Sim Card and will, therefore, pick up 4G as the Sim is a requirement for 4G with this phone...
I can run Insert Coin and pick up 4G just fine but I do have to unlock the Sim with a Pin(which I apparently thought it was good to place on the Sim at the time) everytime I reboot my phone.
Before placing a Pin on the Sim Card I did not experience this issue. However, I see no way at all to reverse the damage. I can force lock it with the wrong Pin, enter the PUK code I got from Sprint, and then put a new Pin but the new Pin still has to be 4 characters (was hoping I could just do a blank one).
To further complicate things, the stock Rom (latest or each version back through to 1.15) doesn't even have a Sim Card lock setup section in the Security preferences of the Settings menu for the phone.....which is what HTC told the Sprint technician I should do to "unlock" my Sim Card and remove the Pin.
When I run some of the AOSP Roms, Paranoid Beta or Pacman for examples, I do see the Sim Card Lock Setup in the Security settings, however, it is grayed out and unclickable....as if there isn't a Sim or it cannot access the one that's there....probably the latter as if I remove the Sim that section of the settings disappears upon refresh.
All I want is to be able to pick up 4G with, preferably, Paranoid Beta or Gummy Rom.. Does anyone please know how I can accomplish this? Do I need an entirely new Sim Card that hasn't had a Pin put onto it? Can I flash something that will actually have a working Sim Card Lock Setup for my Sim card that was already setup through a different Rom?(Don't remember which one I used initially but I think it was Stock or Sense-based at least).
Thank you very much for any help you can provide and for your time in reading about my issue.
Regards,
Guy Who Really Wants 4G on AOSP as it is Also His Only Source of Internet at Home and He Can't Stand Blinkfeed or Uncustomizable Nav Bars.
Mods can close this if needed. Resolved the issue FINALLY!!!!!!! Whoooooo!!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!! lol
The Answer in case anoyone else has this occur (one of these two actions did it or both together )
- Used Captain Throwback's GPE 4.4.4 Edition Rom, however, before installing I purposefully locked the Sim Card via incorrect Pin, then when it asked me for the PUK I popped the card out of contact with its reader (slid it out of the phone a few centimeters) rebooted to recovery, reinserted the Sim Card, installed GPE.
When GPE first loaded I was prompted to unlock the Sim which I then did using the PUK I had ready, assigned a new Pin, finished Rom setup, then went to Security and BAM, the option was finally selectable to Setup Sim Card Lock.....all I had to do after clicking that was remove the checkmark next to Lock Sim Card =D =D =D
Thank you for being a part of my struggle, readers, I'd like to think you were rooting for me. =)
Sidenote: as you can tell I...get around...the Roms on here so it may well have been Captain's that I first placed the Pin on the Sim Card with so perhaps that would explain it as well but can't recall for certain....

No sim card, comes and goes..

My devices sometimes cannot read the sim card, and some times it can. No matter what sim I use, what ROM I use, and I've even tried another sim card reader, but the problem seem to be something else.
Anyone experienced this?
I've been looking for a way to emulate a sim card, like a soft sim solution, but it seem this is not easy..
Maybe it's time to let the old m7 retire...
Anyway, thanks to all contributors in this community, it's been awesome. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Maybe the sim card isn't making a good contact when inserted in the tray, A few ppl got a similar issue and used paper to shim the sim card (not recommended since your sim tray can get stuck). I would try another sim first...

Yes, that's a common issue. The first steps was to use a little tape on the sim, second step was to try another sim, third step was to open the device and take out the sim reader, clean it with ethanol, check every pin and so on, then I tried another sim reader, but the problem still remains.
I too have the same problem, of signal on and off. I think the device detected the SIM card as it asked for PIN to unlock. I tried the *#*#4636#*#* to choose WCDMA only / preferred, but still same problem. So, did you retire the beautiful phone of yours?

Since not even replacing the sim reader solved the problem, it can no longer be used as a phone.
And anyway, the battery is getting seriously old, so when my dogs destroyed my remote control, the good old HTC one m7 now have a new life, filled with joy and happiness.
Anymote app is nice, and m7 are now a media control hub in my living room.
Since April 29 2013 this device have improved my life quality, with the good help from this great community on XDA.
