Oops wrong button.
I am not a fan of HTC sense and the stock look and lack of options of the shipped rom.
I guess where I am going is the battery seems to last longer with Ics and the speed of the phone is better. Running adw the draw is still laggy.
Why do phone companies make phones with heavy bloated roms and call it the fastest phone. Just give us the option to turn it all off.
Does anyone have any gossip on cm9. Considering how far is was taken on the dhd can't wait.

Will we be able to use the source from the Nexus when that update is released...or will we have to wait for AT&T (or whichever carrier) to release their version of it?
So you guys do think that we will at some point get a jellybean rom?

Yes it may have come out before the vivid but the current and new nexus phones always get the current and new Android OS cause its Googles phones. The NExus came out with ICS out of the box, our vivid did not. It came with gingerbread. So Im sure if we do get a Jelly Bean OTA there will be a JB port before hand. That has always been my experience phones that already received an OS update before a new OS came out. Like with Froyo to GB or GB to ICS.
There isn't any reason why we shouldn't, after all my Captivate shipped with 2.1, and was on 2.3.5 after 2 updates, but it was sold in different times. When I got my Captivate the market for android phones wasn't near as saturated, and the Captivate was AT&Ts Galaxy S varient, only like their 5th android phone, and the other 4 were outdated teeny bopper texting toys. The Captivate was a no brainer for anyone who wanted a serious android phone in 2010 and wanted to stay on at&ts network. The result was a ton of owners, top notch xda support, and 2 major software updates as AT&T knew our contract would end eventually and wanted to keep us as customers.
Now times are different. The Vivid was one of many really, in fact it didn't even get the first LTE phone on at&ts network distinction, instead it had to share that with the skyrocket. And now the one x is out and the Vivid is kind of following in its shadow, not to mention HTC is struggling for business and is falling behind on upgrading other phones ie the rezound that came out the same time. I could see us being one and done. I hope we at least get a patch to deal with bugs at some point but I'm not holding my breath for jb

HTC released this statement.
"We are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices. We are reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule, so please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans."
you can find the story at android central (i cant post links yet )
Maybe we will get an OTA before a port....
Yeah either way it'll take a while, it always does.

I came from the Samsung Infuse and when samsung said they were going to release an OTA it meant that there was no way the end user was going to get it. Either AT&T blocks it or Samsung never sent it. Thats why I am happy with HTC. The last couple of HTC devices have been pretty good with OTAs
My vivid was the shortest wait ever but as a flyer owner they aren't always so great :'(
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app
You really think the Vivid will receive an OTA JB update? I highly doubt it. I'm just wondering if we will get a port.
To some extent yeah I could see it just because there are a lot of snapdragon s3 Htc phones out there so porting to our device isn't hard, and It's not very old. But I also could see us being one and done too as the one line is supposed to be a new beginning for HTC and that's their primary focus no doubt. But if we don't get it than I can't see any other phone HTC s3 based phone getting it either.

OTA- Huge possibility
Port- definitely
Only question is which shall come first?
You know what I bet we will get it. The Vivid was AT&TS flagship HTC phone until the one x and HTC will want us to upgrade to another HTC phone when our contract is up. But at the same time our ics Rom needs a stability and performance update, and if they gave us that instead I'd be happy

meh I'm not ready to give up yet. Maybe our phone wasn't the greatest seller, but it was the HTC flagship before the One X, it was released after the Nexus, and it sold no better than any other HTC snapdragon s3 based phone, meaning if they weren't going to bother giving us jelly bean, then I doubt any other HTC phone pre one-series gets it either. Also my Captivate I had before this got 2 updates, so I wouldn't hold my breath, but I wouldn't count them out either.

Totally agree with this, anyway ONE series are not having as success as HTC wanted to, so if they don't upgrade other phones to JB, and just give it all to one, think they won't be winning anything, instead they would be lose lots of clients... so far HTC is one of the most responsible about updating phones so, as Motorola lost lots of clients because of this and HTC is not going as well as they expected, I'm also a believer we're getting JB, just hope not to be wrong... anyway, time to time...

I'll be very surprised if we get 4.1 even somewhere in the world. If anything, I'd hazard a guess that HK will get it as they are carrier-unbranded.
Yeah HTC is struggling and betting their future on the one series. The round of ics updates might be a fair well gift to all of us instead of continued support. It's all good I knew when I got my vivid that one update was probably all it would get. Times have changed since the captivate. The captivate was a flagship phone and if you wanted to stay on att and get an android it was that or a teenage texting toy. Now the market is flooded and manufacturers know that their competitors aren't any better about updates so they really have no incentive to update you.

Most of us want to believe it, anyway HTC has not officially anounced anything by now...about hardware, that's not a problem, we're at the same point as ONE S is, so, it's quiet "possible" to get JB update... but not confirmed, and about Atrix 4G... haha, got bored waiting for that update, tha's why I sold it and got my Vivid, those 2 updates (GB and ICS had to be given, at least because of how they announced that phone and what it really was)

keep in mind if you're getting a One X and it comes with 2.20 on it, there's no root available yet. So it doesn't matter how many devs they have for the device, until they achieve root you won't be able to use any of their stuff.

yep so the vivid is currently looking like a better option LOL
Got the Vivid when it first came out - this phone can't help but create mixed feelings:
Cons:
- Phone is heavy
- Battery life so-so, especially now that LTE is active
- Difficulty to unlock the phone means limited developers
Pros:
- Nice big screen with good quality (at full-brightness, nearly as good as S3 or HTC One X)
- Good camera and GPS (coming from the Captivate which was disastrous in both lol)
- Has FM radio, external SD cards and removable batteries - most of the top Android phones these days are missing at least one of these
The difficulty to develop is probably the biggest downside, but after almost a year I've finally dived into custom ROMs. Unlocked the bootloader, got S-Off thanks to the wire trick, even SIM Unlocked! Using Holis ROM, which is great, should tide me over until next spring when I'm eligible for an upgrade.
So in conclusion, while the Vivid was subpar under GB, since ICS came out it's been really nice. But I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone buying this phone unless it was cheap.
