Is it possible to boost headphone volume - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just tried listening to some music on my new device to find the headphone maximum volume is the worst i've ever encountered on any handset.
Is there a way to boost it at all ???
Maybe editing the headphone xml???????

Theres not really anything you can configure, maybe fiddling around with the equalizer (boost all frequencies) will help.
Otherwise you should get a portable amp

Music too loud trough headphones

Hi I have a problem I have extremely good hearing and when I listen to my music on my note with the volume on minimum my ears hurt like hell when listening because it is too loud I measured it with a decibel meter and it is 52 decibels is there a way to make it less loud
How can it be too loud when on minimum ? It will be like a whispering mouse.
Have a fiddle with the equalizer settings, you may be able to reduce it a bit, As for mods and apps, they only exist to INCREASE the volume.
Or better still, place some cotton wool in your ears before putting your headphones in.

It is quiet with ear buds but when my big as headphones are connected they are way louder possibly because of the 50 millimeter drivers
aaaaah, that makes sense I assumed you were talking about the stock in-ear headphones.
I have some beats studios and they are very loud too, But i like it loud so its no problem for me.....
Do you have DSP Manager installed ? you could try to lower the bars to reduce the volume, Or try the app, Fine volume https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=opotech.finevolumev2

OK I will try that I have some beats pro which I unfortunately could not use because of the loudness so I used them on my mp4 player from sony
I think the best solution for you is a hardware solution, means: Buy an adapter which includes a resistor (with +/- to increase/decrease the Ohm).
All other solutions will impact the sound too much.
Those adapters are cheap and should be available at all eletronic shops.

Get an app with pre amp so you can turn the signal down b4 it's amplified.

Xperia T increase headset volume?

Hi I would like to increase the headset volume on my phone it is far to quiet when listening to music in my car via the audio jack, I used to have a galaxy s i9000 and I used the voodoo amp app that turned up the gain from -10 to +2 and it sounded incredible in the car but my Sony outputs at a much lower volume and sounds pants in comparison!
I've tried a lot of volume boost apps in play store and I've tried flashing sound mods like v4a and zeroinfinitys volume boost and superloud but nothing makes any difference at all!
And I'm stuck with a bootloader unlock allowed : no phone so unable to install custom kernels
Any help to turn up the volume in some way would be greatly appreciated......
Thanks in advance
Anybody??
One last attempt for a response lol
This phone will be for sale if I can't sort this volume out or unlock the bootloader I will go back to samsung

Wait for 4.3 update, stock volume is louder.
But have you tried poweramp ? Gain can be increased a lot.
I have had a similar issue. Increasing gain will kill quality. And I don't think you want that. My recommendation is to buy a headset with a higher sensitivity. I always look for something higher than 105db because this stupid phone.
That's good news volume is louder in 4.3! I'm currently using poweramp paid version, I have dvc enabled and I've turned up the pre amp slider on the equaliser a bit but not a lot of difference in the sound have I missed a setting somewhere??
I never use an actual headset I plug the phone into the aux in on my car stereo, I don't know the hardware differences between the 2 phones I have but with the Sony plugged in and all volumes on max it sounds very quiet but if I plug in my old galaxy s running cm7 and voodoo sound if all volumes were maxed speaker damage would almost definitely occur it is sooooo much louder and the quality is still crystal clear in my opinion
This is a problem of too high impedance of your car device for XT, hardware related... You could use a preamp.
But wait for 4.3.

Low Volume (Headphone Gain) Solution?

I've seen in other posts for the H815 variant that there's Kernels out there that support "Fauxsound". I'm not entirely sure what that is, but I believe it's directly manipulating the hardware audio gain of the 3.5mm headphone jack. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with a working solution for the low gain on the headphone jack? Changing the settings in the mixer_paths.xml is doing nothing for me, and I've tried a few. I've also tried the Imperium Kernel and I get nothing.
Hoping to ditch the external headphone amp with this phone as the V10 has an incredible volume boost solution by modifying the mixer_paths.xml, so I can't understand why this isn't working for me.

Can I increase the audio volume for a particular Bluetooth Device

When my phone is connected via Bluetooth to my car's hands-free kit, some audio could do with being made a little louder.
For example the navigation prompts from Google Maps are plenty loud enough, but some audio-book MP3s played via MD Player and phone call audio could do with being a bit louder.
I have the volume on the Note 8 and the hands-free kit on maximum.
Is there a way I can apply an audio boost when connected to that particular Bluetooth device (or have it controlled via Tasker)?
There seem to be lots of audio boost/control apps in the Playstore, but many seem to allow control of volume for a device without the ability to boost the volume above "normal".
I tried "Precise Volume (+EQ/Booster)", but the boost function didn't seem to make any difference.
If it makes any difference, I'm using Android Auto when connected to the car.
Bump - Anyone?
the only app in the play store that I have found that actually boosts the volume on this phone without being rooted is one called "volume Booster Goodev"
be careful, though, as it can really crank the volume up..
Thanks for that .... had been looking for a volume boost on the headphone out without rooting and this seems to do the job perfectly.

Question How to remove this volume feature?

I recently got this smartphone, and one of the very first things that I noticed is that volume thru headphones is very low, this affects the 3.5mm jack, USB-C audio and even bluetooth. It is in fact much lower than on the previous Redmi 9 which I compared with.
Doing some measurements (by playing a tone and measuring with a multimeter) I found that if I plug a male to male 3.5mm jack to the headphone, it will play audio thru, however none of the settings for headphone will be enabled (meaning that the phone doesn't think that I'm using headphones) if I then connect headphones using an adapter it will play at full volume no problem.
The 3.5mm2 jack puts out 0.8Vrms when there is no headphone, and 0.25 Vrms when it detects headphones. (way too low for many headphones).
This means that the phone has a feature that lowers its max volume by 10 dB when using headphones, that is why it also affects bluetooth audio.
For those that want to test it, if you plug a 3.5mm2 extension cord to the headphone jack, and then you plug headphones you will find out that the max volume is much much louder.
Hopefully there is a way that I can remove that feature all together.
I already tried changing the region, disable absolute volume, etc. None of that worked.
Follow up:
I found that what causes the problem is the equalizer effect that Xiaomi added to the phone.
Every time that the smartphone detects headphones it enables the equalizer, the equalizer has a range of +10dB and -10dB.
They implemented the EQ in such terrible way that +10 dB is actually -10 dBFS and -10 dB is -20 dBFS.
So if I increase the volume at say 100 Hz, it is now able to output 0.8 Vrms at 100 Hz. However if I increase the volume in all bands the EQ does nothing and it stays at -10 dBFS. meaning the issue is still present.
There is no option to disable the EQ, it is just flat by default but they didn't add an option to turn it off.
Edit: I tried disabling com.miui.audioeffect thru ADB and while it was disabled, the volume is still low.
No idea if there is another APK that I could try.
