Exposure Value, it's that slider next to the white balance profiles.

Just keep the Flash lense open

Keeping flash lens open doesn't make flash always on. In fact, there are only 2 options: automatic and off.
I want the same @remfpage is asking for. ¿anyone knows how to do it?
I have the same issue. How do you perform fill flash with this camera? suppose you get a bright background scenery, and you don't want the person in front to be pitch black.

Hi Guys
Does anybody know of a way to disable auto exposure? When I take pictures, often I want to focus on a particular area and 99% of the time that area seems to be darker or lighter so the exposure is adjusted automatically and I hate this as it often washes out images or over exposes other areas. I just want to be able to touch to focus and the exposure not change ... Is this possible?
Thanks

If you press and hold an area when in camera it will lock the AE/AF, the exposure and focus will now remain the same no matter where you point it. This will only work in 4.2.2 though (4.1.2 doesn't have this feature).

Thanks for the reply ... I have tried this but often I want to focus centrally and when you hold to lock it it still seems to over expose. I was hoping there was some Mod that might disable exposure unless you manually adjust it so you can touch to focus anywhere and whether it's dark or light, the exposure won't change.

Are you holding at a light point in the picture. If you hold at a dark point it will probably come out over exposed. If it's relatively dark I normally lock onto a street lamp or something else bright.

It varies tbh, I'll have to have a play with it and give it a full test.
Does anyone know how to disable "night mode" under dispaly brightness settings. (not reading mode and dark mode)
This night mode pushes screen to warmer tone right after 8.00pm
I played with the sliders given, but still can't get it off.
Check the screenshot ?
No one?

If system brightness is not set to the minimum available or automatic in low light conditions then night mode shouldn't get enabled
Bro, just drag the "nightmode color temperature" to zero. Left side.

I found that if i don't restore the phone in a fresh install i don't get that issue. Later one xda memeber has posted the same thing and he found that it has something to do with google backup. It's like reading mode, but auto activated exactly at 8.00pm.
I fixed it with a fresh install and skip restore.
Thanks for helping me out. :highfive:
Is there a way to avoid that under bright light the colors are too bright and washed out?
The pixel 2 xl has more saturated colors under bright light.
Thanks.

What settings do you have in your display settings to set from?
Natural and what others?
There must be other colour profiles you can choose from.

but my problem is that even when on natural, when I turn on the screen, the colours are very bright adn boosted already: isn't natural supposed to be less boosted than boosted profile?

Yes it should be. What is confusing to me you said boosted and washed out in the same line.
How can saturated colours be washed out?
Have you tried the adaptive profiles?
Ok sorry, I try to better explain...
I'm on natural + ambient EQ
When I turn on the screen, if there's enough light (so almost always during the day) the colors look very bright then slowly slowly they go back to sort of normal.
I notice this because I have the calendar widget and lots of yellow events: when I turn the screen on the yellow looks very bright.

This must be the Ambient EQ trying to adjust the display. Try switching it off and see if it makes any difference
Hello lovely people.
I am having issue with the Supermoon Mode in camera.
1. If you see the screen record in Supermoon mode, the moon looks ok. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GBVWsXWr2j7zOVYTvWf72I1bA8gpJP56/view?usp=drivesdk
2. But when I capture in Supermoon mode, the result is a blurry mess, as you can see in picture 2.
3. I tried with pro mode and the result is somewhat ok but you can see lots of artifacts. Not as clear as Supermoon Mode.
4. The other day I tried to take picture of Half moon in "Supermoon" mode. As you can see the result is really good.
So what is going on I really don't get it. Any help?

Did you mean, Clicking on the moon to focus, then at right side of The Focus Square Icon - using the slider to bring down Exposure? Because otherwise I don't see any Exposure Edit option in Supermoon mode.

I didn't turn down the exposure. Just point and shoot in Supermoon mode. Look at the amazing result. I guess there is software bug when capturing in full moon.
