[Q] Sense 6 Lollipop over Sense 6 KK - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Lollipop based Sense 6 roms are slowly trickling out. Are there are major benefits to be gained from going to a Lollipop (Sense) rom?
We lose xposed and all the mods that go with it, bringing customisation levels down quite a bit. That's a major loss for many, however we gain from being on the latest release from google/htc.
Sense 6 on Lollipop looks more or less the same, so we don't benefit from the visual overhaul of GPE/AOSP.
Opinions anyone?
Thanks.

KK with xposed or if sense toolbox work without xposed can switch to lollipop

Im hooked on Lollipop already, im using Maximus HD 50.0 and wont go back to KK, with or without xposed, its smoother, better battery life and even the visual things they have changed I prefer, the available mods so far like large contact pictures, mod packs, kernals and extra themes are slowly but surly doing everything I ever used xposed for anyway.

[Q] GPe vs CM comparison?

Hi folks,
I've seen some write-ups of the GPe and am currently testing out CM 11 (originally AT&T stock).
I'm curious if there's anyone out there who's played around with these two versions of the ROM enough to compare what features are in each, as well as any other notes (for example, battery life, reception, etc.)
I love CM, but I've noticed the battery life is horrid on the default settings, and I'm starting to miss a few features from the stock Sense version. Wondering if GPe would be a good route to go, especially with the recent update, bringing it up to 4.4.2.
Thanks!
Personally,
I like GPe KK over CM11. It's much smoother to me. I never understanded why they use CM. Always updating coming with over 100+ versions, including the morning, evening, midnight and nightlies versions . Force closes on some apps.. :highfive:
Spare all those and use original GPe KK.

[Q] Just got an unlocked Samsung s4 Active!

Phone is great and already rooted it. I wonder, should i install a custom ROM or keep the stock one? What are the benefits of installing a custom ROM on the active? In the past i always installed customs but for the Active i'm not sure i need it at the moment. Thoughts?\\

There are countless articles on the benefits of Custom vs Stock ROMS. I personally love CM10.2 that I currently have installed on mine. I'm waiting for CM11 but that looks a while off. If you leave it stock, though, you'll easily be able to update to 4.4 soon. I personally HATE the touchwiz interface, but I'm jealous of some of Wanam Xposed's capabilities. Other than that, you've said you've already used custom ROMs before...

I've installed nova, and themer and about me. all amazing interfaces. also found a workaround to enable wifi tether. what else can i do on a custom rom on the S4 Active that's worth reverting from the stock? I'm just trying to see if there's anything major i'm missing right now.
Also, i've noticed there's very little dev action on here compared to the S4. Is that because not a lot of users have it? or because S4 roms can be used on the active?

There's less action here because the Active has less users. S4 Roms are similar to the Active and can be, in a way, "ported". They are NOT interchangeable though.
Nova and Themer don't require a Custom ROM such as CM. CyanogenMod is the most common Custom ROM so I'm going to focus on that. There are other good ones for this device such as SlimBeam and Smasher X.
Here is an article with the Top 10 Reasons To Install CyanogenMod.
While the above article is a good article, it doesn't go into enough depth about it's Customisations and Usability tweaks which are (along with speed) the main reasons that CM is my choice ROM at the moment. For example, if you find that the auto-brightness is sometimes a bit too high or a bit too low while using your Android device, you can tweak this to your own specific perfection. There's hundreds of little tweaks like this built into CM that essentially make using TouchWiz afterwards somewhat frustrating.
In saying that, a lot of the things you can do on a Custom ROM can be achieved on the stock ROM through things such as XPosed framework with modules such as Wanam Kit or other third party apps such as All In One Gestures, or tasks created in Tasker.
I will also be doing a guide on how to get the AOSP Android 4.4 look on your stock TouchWiz Device.

[POLL] Staying on KitKat?

so we have a thread for discussing, here's a vote!
personally I'll still be running my own personal custom Froyo build
here's ANOTHER POLL!!!! Did you turn off Chrome Tabs in Recents/App Switcher???
Froyo..?
As in 2.2?
The only reason to stay on KitKat is Xposed.
Since I have preferred the much improved performance of ART over the possibility to customize my phone with Xposed for more than one year now, I updated to Lollipop as soon as it was released (and previously I also used the DPs).
I'm just waiting for the update for the cellular N7...
atlest for the next few weeks are so I am sticking with Kitkat... once stable Roms start coming in will jump to Lollipop..
I have been spoiled with Xposed and Gravitybox
Why can't Lollipop and Xposed just get along!!
I've to agree with the 2 posts above this one Even though I am running Lollipop, gosh I miss Xposed Framework so much!! I even reverted to a backup I'd taken waaaaayy back when I used 4.4.4 Mahdi with Elemental X And Xposed Framework...
But, lollipop! It's so visually pleasing and after using L for so long, KK just seemed to look, outdated. Comparatively. After a while you notice a weird jittering and jagger and lack of animations, spacing and styles of everything that spoiled you in L, missing from KK.. Even the Xposed customizations, (Gravity Box, XGELS) that tried to come close to the L look weren't cutting it.. I really hope rovo89 does the insanely cool God-like coding and tweaks and manages to get Xposed running on ART.. :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Not liking lollipop?

Anyone not liking Lollipop or not impressed with the first releases of L for our M7 devices? I see plenty who are praising the product. I myself really like the sleak Material design, but it might be my imagination but L doesn't seem quite as smooth as 4.4.2 and a few apps hang up here and there, the capacitive key light is a problem (as we all know).
Just wondered if anyone else has gone back to KitkKat, whether that be aosp, gpe or Sense and for what reason?
Is this post breaks the rules, feel free to lock.
Thanks

I too am enjoying the material design 'overhaul' and to be honest have been spending so long with 'feature rich' ROMs it's nice to go back to the basics. I'm missing some of my favourite staples like the traffic monitor and lock screen targets but overall I'm really enjoying Lolipop.
Features I'm loving:
- Location based security
- Built in 'quiet hours'
- Built in battery analysis
- Recent apps overhaul (just now getting used to not closing all open apps)

I have long ago gone back to 4.4.4. Not only am I not a fan of the new temp Material remake but the issues with over all volume decrease and other issues are not worth it. Not to mention the really stupid in call screen. Not sure what they were thinking there.
Did you go back to stock GPE Zelendel?
Glad to hear there are a few not happy with L.

No I went back to DU as it was my daily driver. Gpe is to bland for me with not enough options.
Also went back from lollipop to Sense 4.4.3
I prefer Sense UI and I'm not a huge fan of the new lollipop design. Some changes are great and some others I don't like at all.
Xposed framework incompatibility with ART is probably the main reason why I reverted back to Kitkat.

That may be a lasting issue. From some to not I have heard he is hardly working on it and is not really motivated to finish it as the direction Google is going is locking the system down for things like xposed.
I used Lollipop for few days because I had that mute call bug and only thing I liked is recent apps. Everything else is just not to my liking. I was so happy when I found out about mute call fix zip ?
I wonder if Lollipop roms will be less customisable than previous google releases?
Yeah I can see me switching back to KK at some point. We can always have the Material look with a theme engine. I miss the customisation that comes with KK and even Jellybean roms.

Many are working on bringing the features to 5.0. Some are doing it wrong and just trying to port them over instead of redoing them to work properly but the features are coming. I wouldnt want to rush it mainly with google pushing so many updates on a daily basis. I mean we are already up to what 5.0.2r7 with 5.1 rumored to be out next month. The material design is just like the whole Holo deal. IT will pass. Google is even changing the color pallet after many complaints. So That is not a big deal really. Well unless your an app developer that made your app in the material design then come 6.0 or 7 they will have to redo it again to match what ever google decides to do then.

It is Dirty unicorns, I also use Slim. I did use AICP for a while but have moved away from roms that use CM as a base.
Thanks for the info, I better be careful this doesn't turn into a roms comparison thread!
I am sure Lollipop roms will get better and better once devs get their heads around the software, start adding features. I am sure it's a very small percentage of phone users who even have 5.0 on their phones, a good portion are probably still Jellybean.
Myself, going back to a KK rom for now until the L roms mature a little more.
Anyone finding the aosp (inc cm) Lollipop roms better than GPE for stability, battery longevity etc?
I myself am liking the taste of the lollipop myself, tastes like strawberries runs much smoother than KK, battery life is great, all my apps are working, no faults with it what so ever.
The few issues I think many people are having with it and a lot seem to be complaining about, is HTC themselves haven't listened to anyone, the issues are with sense that HTC bang on top of Google's Android, the widgets are still to small and don't come right down, however there is a mod to fix this, cant stand the ugly white and black background on the clock and weather widget, im using Chronus for my clock and weather at the moment, I do miss xposed but not enough to revert back, there are for now alternatives for what I used xposed for, they just take a bit of hunting down.
The sense version of Lollipop is still a baby at the moment and Dev's are working on their apps already for Lollipop including xposed, it will come.
You have to remember that the ROM which LabFooter posted a few days ago is still very much in beta stage. its a leak and still in testing, any issues found can still be fixed yet.
Anyone else tried Lollipop and gone back to Kitkat or even Jellybean, and why? Just trying to keep the conversation going on this one as it's early days with Lollipop and all that. Figured there are many who like or dislike the operating system.

I did. Lollipop is nice to look at, but IMO it's just that. It's still too buggy for me to use it. Back to good old KK and enjoying every minute

Took the words right out of my mouth, lollipop looks and feels real nice. But the poor functionality due to all the bugs it's just not usable as an every day Rom :good:
Dont' fix if ain't broken.
Besides not so many new functions I could use in Lolipop.
I prefer trustworthy KK over buggy loli.

Best Custom Rom for HTC One M7?

Dear Friends,
I know there is no straight forward answer to this question as we all have different preferences but I would like to know what roms you are using and which ones are worth recommending to people including me who have just rooted their device. There are SO many roms out there and many are similar feature wise but some that are different are either buggy or doesn't work as stated. In other words, there is so much to choose from so trying out every new ROM feels pretty much the same with few or less customization options.
I have a difficult time sticking to one rom as so far I have only tried ViperOne, Android Revolution and Cyanogenmod. ViperOne had a lot of features which didn't work and it was kinda buggy, Cyanogenmod is nice & fast but its way too simple and then Android Revolution seemed to have a feel of stock rom and it was quite stable but then again it all felt the same. I am yet to come across a single rom which makes me feel like "this is the one for me".
Can you suggest any roms or different kernels to use with that particular rom that has good UI, is user and battery friendly? And also that it is stable with the features it provides, which is not buggy.
Exodus is the ROM I would recommend with a theme of your choice.
I would recommend Android Revolution HD because it is as stable as you said. I bought the M7 because of the nice UI, BoomSound, Zoe etc. If you want to keep this features you should stay as stock as possible
So i would stay on Stock or ARHD and use Xposed Framework to mod the hell out of your phone. On ARHD there ist a great toolbox called Sense Toolbox which uses Xposed and offers a wide variety of tweaks and shotcuts. Stock Android is boring and looks the same on every phone so keep the uniqueness of your HTC. Just my opinion
