Is this possible? I have been trying a few custom ROMs that I really like but the Gmail is either not included in GAPPS (and I have to download from Play Store) or it's included but doesn't support exchange.
I really like having my exchange built into GMAIL and it's a big enough reason for me to go back to stock if I can't get it on custom ROMs... any ideas?
Like you said, Download it from the play store.

Mine has. Maybe your ROM / GAPPS is missing the exchange stuff. What gapps are you flashing?

That's minimal gapps which I would expect does not include exchange services. Find a more complete gapps package.
Edit... Downloaded and confirmed

Stupid question: can I just flash a different gapps over my current setup or do I have to wipe and start over? Its been awhile since I used a Nexus device.

I can't find any 5.0 gapps from slim ROM, is it okay to use the 4.4.4?

I'm using the 3/7 gapps because they are the latest version provided from the CyanogenMod gapps mirror.
No idea where the 3/25 build came from. Same as the unofficial CWM 3.0.0.5 that's floating around.

And the question is where did they come from? Because they certainly aren't from Cyanogen.

Ah, OK, misunderstood your initial post.
OP - I use the newest ones, lol. What the heck do you mean? Do you wanna know which .zip we flashed, or what actual google apps we use? The last gapps.zip I flashed was around 2/21, home-made .zip (because I don't use ALL the google apps). Since then I just update them form the market. I also was kindly informed that gapps are preserved in a flashover, which is why I haven't flashed a gapps.zip again. Also, the google apps are available publicly and for free on the android market, so after an update I use TB pro to "re-integrate into ROM" (which is the same basically as moving them from /data to /system).
Jason - whoa homey, chill. Gapps are free, and from GOOGLE (and most aren't even open source fyi), not aosp, you, or cyanogen. All anybody really does is put them in a .zip and make it flashable to /system. Feel free to correct me, but really, who cares.

The difference is that I've seen several reports of people getting force closes on the Setup Wizard, and (seeing as Setup Wizard is part of the gapps) there's no way to know if that's a bug in the ROM or because they're using gapps from some other source.
EDIT: It's just a constructive response. One dev for one phone made his own variant of gapps, while the rest of the CM users are using a different set. Troubleshooting is one step easier when everyone is using the same files, especially considering they're "universal" across devices now.

i've been using the one that's been floating around, 3/25... maybe this is why i sometimes have issues with the Market.
Thanks for your input. I'll start using the official 3/07 when i upgrade from asopCMod to CM7.0.0 Stable

I don't think that. You can simply remove those apps with titanium backup

you can flash any version of Gapps.
In case you dont want any particular application uninstalling using titanium backup
As previously mentioned I have copied this thread to Android software development, so more people can learn about it. I have also moved my files and will now be uploading to Android File Host without mirrors, since they is a waste of time, AFH works great.
You can find the new thread here and subscribe to it:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-opengapps-oreo-unofficial-t3681960
I will not be updating this thread anymore so you won't miss anything. Please also post comments there since I won't be active here that much.
Another new thing is that I will be updating packages every two days, since firstly I don't have that much time available, but mostly because the apps itself don't get updated every day which means you are basically flashing the same apps twice.
That's about it, hope you join us on the other thread

Yup, I know, I use to use other people's versions. But they weren't updated frequently enough. Hopefully they will see my work and start updating theirs too so people can get more out of oreo.

Hey, thanks for your work.
I was wondering, tho, that if I have a previous version of GApps installed (Which I installed while installing the ROM), what is the use of these updates GApps? I can always update my apps through play store?

Yes, that's the best option. But let's say you have installed the pico package and now you want gmail as a system app. You can now dirty flash the micro package which will remove and replace all the installed apps and also install gmail and other apps from the micro package as system apps.

No, they're pretty much always the same, probably hidden somewhere in the pico package so if there was an update it would be installed anyway. The only other apps not available in the playstore would be Google Camera, Pixel Launcher and Pixel Icons (maybe others too).

Sorry, no. But I've checked everywhere and mostly people got "Don't ask for ETA" responses. Some people speculate that when LineageOS 15 gets more stable they will start building oreo opengapps. But those are just rumors.

I'd say wait a couple of minutes and if that doesn't work reboot into recovery, not system and reflash.
i'm getting stuck on "instalation complete" about 2m too , then TWRP auto reboot.

This happens on some roms, it's probably not the gapps's fault. After flashing remove the sim tray. Finish the setup and insert it again. DON'T insert it when it asks you to or it will force close again.
Since you've already flashed just remove the sim tray and reboot again.
Thank u
