[Q] [HELP] Bricked HTC One - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone ,
Please help a brother. I have the M7 international version , i just bought it few days ago.Because of some problems i decided to install the latest ARHD , everything worked like charm , but after installation i wiped the data partition and now i have "System UI stopped working".
The problem is that i was looking here and on some another websites and all restore guides require S-OFF and i have S-ON.
Is there any chance to return to stock with S-ON ? Or what is the procedure wich works i hboot 1.57 to make it S-OFF ?\

why did you wipe the data partition after installation?, that holds important data that the rom just installed. To fix this just wipe /data, /cache, /system then re-flash the rom.

you have to wipe all the three partitions (/data, /cache & /system) before re-installing the rom (don't let aroma installer do this, do it manually in twrp or cwm recovery) then ARHD has a clean slate to install on. Then it should boot fine.

no not extactly, sometimes android upgrade means that certain app require certain directories and if these do not exist, during android upgrade process it will create them

you might have had a bad download, i suggest downloading and installing completely different rom (i'm using skydragon v16). Don't worry as long as your phone turn on and has recovery (i suggest you use twrp, most compatible for the m7) your phone is recoverable and don't forget recovery also has adb so once the new rom finishes downloading push or sideload via ADB in recovery

Hi @mctodd, easy on the double posting So shall we stick this thread or the other one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2491065?
Anyway, to get rumrunner to work Guru Reset 2.24.707.3 is your best chance. Let me know which thread you want to work in, and post your current state (ROM, recovery, and anything else worth noting) in whichever thread you decide on.

probably a bad download, that's why it got stuck, did you check the MD5 sum? try downloading again, and make sure the zip is not corrupt.
also, if you don't want to loose your custom recovery, in Aroma deselect "stock recovery" while flashing
EDIT: also select WIPE in Aroma!!

You can't run the RUU yet, you need to get s-off first using rumrunner
Try this: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-707-1-zip/
Download & install with full WIPE + stock recovery + stock radio, and no root. You should then check for an OTA update and update to 2.24.707.3. Then use the rumrunner package for 2.24.707.3
Post back with results

Nope just "install zip" in recovery, Aroma is included (it just gives you the options when flashing), you should
WIPE
select "stock recovery"
select "stock radio"
do not select "root'
once you reboot to the ROM, check for software update to 2.24.707.3 and do that, but no other updates
You'll have to clear dalvik cache in some cases! If have you done it and still have the same prob, make sure you have downloaded the proper ROM and all others have no problem flashing it!
If its still struck at boot.., get some other ROM!

Ah okay. I would then flash a custom recovery. You can access the bootloader correct? What method did you use to install the rom? Clean flash or wipe is when you erase all the phone's system files, leaving a blank slate for a new rom to be installed on, and should be done before installing a brand new rom to avoid any issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568662
This is the link to the recovery image I used, it's the latest clockwordmod touch recovery. Very easy to flash as long as you have fast boot setup correctly. Once you have a working recovery you should be able to try a re-flash.

Was the recovery still stock or was a custom one flashed? Which process did you follow to root the phone? Since you can't access the recovery at the moment is suggesting it is stock. A failed rom install shouldn't corrupt recovery

I remember I've unlocked the bootloader.
I used the method described on this french website : phonandroid.com/tutoriel-comment-rooter-son-htc-one.html
On the bootloader now, i can do a factory reset. Can it be a solution ? will it or not delete the root ?

I'm not sure, since you have tried to flash another rom, a factory reset might not solve the issue. Trying shouldn't brick the phone but I can't say for sure, sorry!
The method looks similar to the one I used. Could you try following from step 6? but using a different recovery.img. I used the clockwokmod touch from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863

Nice! Glad you have working recovery. Yes I would reinstall the rom now, and I would recommend that you wipe the system files, (except SD Card partition of course) to reduce the chance of boot loops etc

Could you send me a link to the rom you flashed? Try downloading a different rom. As you can't boot a ROM your only option may be to use ADB to push a new ROM onto your phone's storage.
See this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317989
EDIT: Sorry, that link is for the other recovery. Use this one instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929

It may have been a bad download. There isn't really any reason for it to not work, although it does say on the page it "You need TRWP 2.6.3.3 custom recovery!"
Not to worry, you can flash it in no-time. Ok so just as before, just flash a new recovery (again) and use the latest image from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7/
This should allow you to install the rom as the developers intend. It is strange though, i've never encountered a rom where a specific recovery was needed.

This should allow you to install the rom as the developers intend. It is strange though, i've never encountered a rom where a specific recovery was needed.

It should definitely work this time! I've actually just flashed TWRP recovery, and I can already say I prefer it over ClockWorkMod!

Reboot loop after custom ROM

Hello, I recently unlocked my bootloader and flashed a recovery. I flashed a new ROM, TikTak 4.42. After flashing the rom from CWM it started and went to a constant blue screen.
I flashed a new recovery via fastboot and flashed the rom again, it started but when it got to the locale selection and restarted after 2 seconds. This would repeat over and over. I decided to do a wipe, but inadvertantly wiped my storage too.
I pushed another ROM to the device via adb and flashed that via CWM, same problem as the constant rebooting. I tried to flash a RUU from fastboot but got a "Signature Fail" error.
My phone has access to the bootloader and recovery. My storage is empty so I have no roms on my phone. In mounts and storage it always says "mount /system" and "mount /data". Could this be a problem with system?
If you have any questions please ask, I'm quite new to all this so may not have included everything necessary. If anyone can help me fix my phone totally, I could make a small donation thorugh paypal
Thanks in advance

TikTak 4.42..?
my guess is that it's cwm causing your problems, may I suggest trying twrp instead

Thank you both for the replies, I'll be sure to read them now, and will try TWRP.
I can't seem to find an RUU for my device, it's hutchinson 3g, uk, which has the 3 digits 771. I can't find that in any of the listed RUU's

I tried flashing the rom with twrp but have the same problem, it boots up, gets to the choose location menu and then reboots. If it's important, when I'm in the bootloader it says "OS- (blank)"

Thank you for helping! I think I may have worded my last reply badly. My recovery works, I'm currently on twrp, and I can flash a rom. When i flash the rom, I reboot the system, goes through boot screen etc, gets to choose locale i.e UK, USA, its the normal android start up, then it just crashes and reboots

[SOLVED]HTC One m7 partitions screwed up

OK. So I soft bricked my phone earlier, and just restored by flashing the RUU. Now that I'm trying to root back, I'm noticing that my file system is totally different from what it used to be. TWRP actually says no OS is installed, but the stock version of 4.4.2 is most certainly there and boots just fine. How can I rectify this?
UPDATED: There was actually no problem with the file system. It appears I likely had a bad download of TWRP so it wasn't recognizing the mount points.

What version of TWRP do you have installed? 2.7.1.1 wipes OS version from bootloader, but that doesn't affect anything. If you want OS to be shown flash TWRP 2.6.3.3. It's the most stable recovery and you won't have problems flashing ROMs with it. On the other hand, if your phone works fine, leave it as it is

It was actually tdhite's 2.7.1.3 that I flashed that really screwed up my phone.
I was using 2.7.1.1 fine before. I flashed back to 2.7.1.1 after getting my phone working again with the RUU. I have a full backup of my rooted phone saved to my computer and would love to be able to restore it back through TWRP. But the actual filing system in ES File Explorer looks different.
In TWRP, I can't even get to SuperSU to become root because of the way the file system is so different.
When I was soft bricked, I may have played around in the Mount function of TWRP and screwed it up that way.

I wanted to add, the only partition showing as mounted in TWRP is the Data. Can't mount cache or system. Going to restore shows my internal storage at 37 MB. Going to file manager shows I am in the folder "/." In this folder are a boot, cache, data, deve, etc, license, proc, recovery, res, root, sbin, sdcard, supersu, sys, system, tmp, usb-otg, default.prop, file_contexts, fstab.goldfish, fstab.qcom, init, init.rc, init.recovery.qcom.rc, property_contexts, seapp_contexts, sepolicy, ueventd.goldfish.rc, ueventd.rc. Most of these have nothing in them. SuperSu does have a Superuser.apk inside, but its not the SuperSu file I downloaded from Chainfire's page, and with only Data being mounted I'm afraid to flash the default one.
The other funny thing is that when I go to reboot system in TWRP, it says that no OS is installed, but like I said, the stock system boots just fine. I believe everything on my phone is installed to Data.

Yes. It's the Sprint HTC One m7. This is the most bizarre problem I have come across. And I was successfully rooted (SuperSU) with TWRP 2.7.1.1 installed prior to installing TDHITE's 2.7.1.3, which really seemed to mess things up for some reason. I used liquidsmooth custom rom, but ended up going back to the stock ROM and using Xposed framework because I do like a lot of the stock features, but I loved being able to tweak them with Xposed. Now I'm stuck on stock with a weird looking file system.

Dude, we could really do some serious damage to your phone. As clsA said, you really should make it clear that it's Sprint version. Did you by any chance flash something that's not for Sprint phones? That could screw up your system.

Is this possibly just a problem with TWRP? I actually notice in ES File Explorer that things arent' too different after all. I've got a / (Device) folder and a "0" folder which is my internal storage. It's just stuff isn't showing right in TWRP I guess, and TWRP seems to only be mounting my data partition.

So I just was trying to backup everything in recovery and it starts up fine and starts saying md5 blah blah, then fails every time. bad idea will make the boot slower in TWRP and plus its runnning t-mobile lastest update so you should be good!
I hope you are confused. You can write the numbers of the md5 of the zip you uploaded on the first page, not adding one for twrp to check, but so that people can still use a checker before they try to install it and say you messed something up when it was just a bad download
