Nexus 6 - Large apps killing NFC...? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have a strange issue with my Nexus 6. For background I am using 64GB model, sim unlocked, stock, not rooted, not OEM unlocked, v5.0.1.
I recently purchased the Nexus 6, restored my account and apps to it. So far so good. Next time I started up the phone, I noticed NFC had stopped working. Checking the Settings menu it had completely disappeared along with "Tap and Pay". I know they were there before but they had gone. I went back to the retailers who happily swapped it for another.
Nexus 6 #2 - EXACTLY the same thing happened. I could then only presume an app was somehow causing it. After uninstalling/installing loads of apps I finally figured it out - any "large" app being installed seems to kill NFC on reboot. I don't know exactly how "large" it needs to be but the offending apps are all over 1GB. Any one (I have three such apps) of those installed and NFC goes. Uninstall it, reboot and it's available again.
I can replicate it everytime and on two different devices. Can anyone else confirm/deny/test the above and advise? If it was a bug I would have thought there would be other reports but then >1GB apps are fairly unusual. I can also confirm it DOESN'T happen on my (unrooted, stock) Nexus 5 running v5.0.1.
Any thoughts or ideas greatlly appreciated
TIA!

Am I really he only person suffering from this on two different phones?

I have the CW 64 and i have a lot of games installed.
Some close to 4GB and my NFC works great, I pay with google wallet a lot.
My google play music is 15GB with the downloaded music from all access.
My guess is that one of your apps (possibly pre lollipop with no update ) are causing this.

Top man, you solved it! I was working on the assumption that a user installed app couldn't interfere with a system service like this!
I used an Application Permission app to see which of my apps had access to NFC, and there were a couple of old ones that I don't even use any more. Uninstalled them, restarted the phone and all working perfectly now

Which apps specifically??
---------- Post added at 01:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:11 AM ----------
I've only gone and fixed it!
IO don't know how or why, or which of these steps are unnecessary, but I will post EVERY step that I took, and the reason behind taking these steps was for the purpose of fixing secure fast unlock which seemed to be broken based on location, and I was attempting to fix it via bluetooth secure unlock, in the hope that fixing it via bluetooth would fix it via location too, and at the same time i was trying to figure out what was wrong with the NFC...
Settings, accessibility, turn all off (i had previously had pushbullet on, turn off_
install F secure app permissions, filter NFC, open every app that has NFC permissions
settings, security, smart lock, input pattern, trusted devices, add a newly paired bluetooth device (i used my laptop).
lock phone, unlock phone, to ensure that smart lock is working.
switch bluetooth off, lock, unlock to ensure that trusted location smart lock is working
settings, "more", turn aeroplane mode on. turn aeroplane mode off.
phone switched off, switched back on, askwd for pattern unlock before boot, upon boot NFC and android beam settings are restored in the "more" settings menu.
Please try it and confirm whether or not this is a valid fix

[Q] Market killing 3G connection

I have a weird problem with my AT&T galaxy tab. For the past couple of days, each time I launch the Market, my 3G connection is killed and I can no longer access the network, and of course I cannot access the market. As soon as I kill the market app, my 3G connection comes back.
I cleared the data and cache of the market app, did not solve the issue. When I uninstall the updates of the market app (reverting to the original ugly market app), everything works fine, but it then automatically updates itself and the problem comes back. I assume this is a problem with the market app itself and not my device (hopefully).
Has anybody else experienced this issue and found a fix?
I am running stock ROM with third party apps installed enables (done it with superoneclick: root, enable third party apps, unroot).
I have the amazon app store installed, so I can still buy new apps, but I would like to be able to get updates for the apps I have purchased from the market.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
What modem are you using? Does the problem happen when you are using wifi? I think the JMF modem that is available for overcome rom is weak and I get many dropped connections and slow data speeds.
I am using the stock ROM and stock modem, I have never flashed a ROM. It only happens with the Market App.
Same issue for me. I have a rooted stock rom.
I have the same issue. Also stock rom and rooted. When WIFI is on (and connected) the market works fine.
I have been beating my head against this since I bought one. I am rooted using....I think I used Super One Click......stock everything else with non-market apps enabled. I originally thought that Root had broken it; however, if I unrooted, reset to factory, I still had the issue.
After many hours at the ATT store and on the phone (and swapping the device once and SIM card twice) I had an epiphany. a Factory Reset does NOT wipe the Internal SD like I thought it did. It leaves /mnt/sdcard/ intact. So, just for kicks, I began looking at my folders here. I MAY have discovered something. Market started working after I restored this folder to it's factory content (deleted any folders having to do with Apps in general).
I can typically hold power, deactivate Data connection, wait a few seconds, re-enable, and I get 3g back (at least for browser and other apps, Market still fails).
I have PSX4Droid installed (PSX Emulator if you don't know). There is a folder here named /.psx4droid, so I renamed it to /psx4droid (If I remember correctly, doesn't the "." hide the folder......too long since Linux class). I then deactivated/reactivated my data, and the Market started working properly.
I am not sure if it has to do SPECIFICALLY with psx4droid or just the "Hidden" folder in general, but now my Market works. I have 2 more folders in this location (/.downloadTemp and /.FileExpert) that may/may not cause any problems. I will post my findings.
.....Okay, so I'm going to type what I write now....Market just failed. Now I'm renaming /.FileExpert....Let's see what happens......
Damn. Still fails. But I'm tellin' ya. There is something in this folder causing it.
Or maybe some app is causing it to break......I have Amazon App store installed, what about you guys?
I do have Amazon App installed.
Anybody with an AT&T Tab not having the issue?
Same issue here. I had the Amazon Appstore installed but uninstalled it probably a week afterwards. Rooted running stock, everytime I go into the market it crashes the 3g. I found a folder in sdcard/android/data that had a bunch of appstore files in it. I deleted that and still having the same issue. I have removed all 3rd party apps so I have no idea what is triggering this. Please help.
P.S. I can access the market on WiFi
This also happens to be sometimes, if you tap wifi on then off again your 3g should come back and work fine.
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
Unfortunately what you proposed did not work. The market is killing the network connection each and every time. The network connection only comes back when the market app is not active anymore.
Since everything works fine when the market upgrades are uninstalled, I really think it is a bug in the newer version of market. Hopefully, the next update will fix this.
Maybe when Gingerbread is out!
I'm thinking this has more to do with us having installed amazon appstore before it was supposed to be. Somebody is mad at us
Has anyone made any progress on this situation?
Sent from my SGH-I987 using XDA App
I really wish I would have made more progress. After all the trouble I had with the device with this issue, I was seriously monitoring the apps I installed and then testing the Market. I gave up after a while since I am on Wifi 90% of the time and hardly ever do I access the Market while driving. I still have a feeling that something in /mnt/sdcard is causing it. Like I had mentioned, I could wipe back to factory and the problem was still there. I seem to remember that it only started working proper after I had cleared this location of crap. I would think that a Market update would see a larger group of affected tabs than just a handful of us. This doesn't seem to be a widespread issue.
That being said......I have decided to move on to Gingerbread. Maybe that'll fix it
Hey guys, try this. Worked for me and my Data problems with Gingerbread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13751694&postcount=6
Basically create a new APN inside Settings -> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names. Only set the APN to "Broadband," save it (Menu button) and select the radio button for it. Instantly fixed my data issues.
Thank for the tip. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I am running stock 2.2 and waiting for the official 2.3 update from AT&T.
Good Luck. I thought about waiting for the official.....but I also have a Captivate. We didn't get 2.2 until MONTHS after the rest of the world (I think it was like 5 or 6 months later). I didn't want to wait that long again.

Could you please report if the problem fixed with Gingerbread ?
At first I didn't have ANY cellular data until I created a new APN mentioned in the tagged thread (APN Broadband). Now I have no issues with Market. I wish I could trust AT&T to release Gingerbread in a timely fashion, but I know better. So instead, I flashed Overcome.
P.S. I really can't enough of the CRT lock animation......damn I'm such a geek....

Odd issue with DRParser and mDNS services

I have been going through and optimizing my T813 by disabling stuff that doesn't need to be running, firewalling off anything that does need network access, etc. However, I've run into a couple odd issues.
The first is DRParser.apk (DRparser Mode). It is marked as safe to disable on the Galaxy S6/S7, and I have. Or at least I tried. Even when it is frozen, it is somehow getting started because it is banging at the firewall like nuts. I have AFWall+ setup to show toasts from the logger, and it is constantly showing DRparser Mode has been denied access to a half dozen IP addresses. I double checked, and yes, it really is disabled in Titanium Backup. There is some serious WTH going on here, as it persists after a reboot. I have used TiBu to successfully freeze other services, so I'm not sure what is so special about this one.
The other weird one is mDNS, which I believe is part of the "find stuff nearby" functionality. I don't actually have a problem with it, but I can't find a specific service to enable in the firewall. I'm guessing it's bundled with something else, but I'm not sure what. It's also getting flag by AFWall, but not nearly as often.
The last one is the game optimizer service. I'm not sure why it is trying to access the network, but it is. I'm tempted to freeze it, but I'm not sure what it actually does.
Anyone have any ideas on these?

I can't even find anything via google that even explains what this apk does. But I did find that the app associated with it is com.sec.android.app.parser. You might want to look for that in /Setup/apps. Once you open apps, you might have to click the settings and choose "show system" for it to appear in the list. I'm running the RR ROM on my T810 and that app isn't installed with the Pico gapps, so I can't test it.
edit: After a little more research, it appears that the apps function is to decode "special codes" that you dial on your phone. Without it, you won't be able to dial those codes. But I have no idea why that would require access through your firewall. But it would explain why it isn't found on my T810, which doesn't have a cellphone function.
This is on a T813, which also has no LTE functionality. I'm guessing Samsung puts a largely "standard" image on these devices, as it also has the Phone services as well. (from poking around, this thing feels a bit like a gigantic Galaxy S6). However, it's a moot issue, as it is lumped under a bunch of other stuff, at least a couple of which do require network access. So, whatever it is, I have to let it through. :|
I did, however, come across some info on the mDNS issue:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63977673&postcount=2742
Apparently that is a strange AFWall+ issue, and there is a custom script to resolve the issue.

It may be "lumped with other stuff" but I would think that "the stuff" would all be phone related and therefore removable. It isn't there in the custom ROMS. Did you look for the app I listed in your app settings?
Yes, it's there. DRParser.apk in /system/app. I can, if I need to, delete it now that I have a full system backup on the SD card - which I suppose is the next step. I usually disable services rather than deleting them, though.

Renaming or deleting the apk is an option, but I was talking about disabling com.sec.android.app.parser in the app settings.

Recent GPS problems

I had posted this over on the Note 8 Verizon board but dont think it is really a Verizon problem but more of a Note 8 problem and might get a better response here.
Just recently over the last couple months, I have been having a problem with getting a good gps signal in programs such as Waze and Google maps. I have done all kinds of searches and many mention to go into settings and in location settings, turn on High Accuracy. That option is bo longer available and not sure if it was eliminated in Pie. I have been doing all the latest updates and believe I am current. The only thing I have been able to find is to go into settings, then Google, and then Account Services and there I found location. The only choices under Improve Accuracy is to turn on Wifi scanning and Bluetooth scanning which I have done. There no longer is a choice of High Accuracy and the ability to turn GPS on or off like I had in previous phones and previous versions of Android. I have even tried turning on High Performance under Battery Power settings and turned off any choices to optimize battery or disable apps. I ended up downloading 2 different GPS apps from Store, GPS Status and GPS Fix/Optimizer. I will normally use Waze or Google maps through Android Auto. I can tell when there is a problem when the position indicator keeps bouncing all over the place in Waze and cant find exactly where I am. When that happens, I will check on GPS Status and it always shows that it is having a problem acquiring the satellite signals. I will then open up GPS Fix/Optimizer and on the home screen, there is a button that will say Service Off. I press it and it will then read Service On. Switching back to GPS Status will now show that it is starting to acquire multiple satellite signals. When I switch back to Waze, now it is able to show my exact location and begins to work properly.
This is driving me nuts. I never had this problem on any other of multiple different phones or Android versions. I can get GPS working but have to jump through all these hoops each time and it sucks. So what other steps can I do to be able to fire up Waze and have it find me right away?
I've had this problem for YEARS on all my Samsung devices running the latest firmware updates and unrooted while connected to a LTE data plan. The issue doesn't affect my other (new) Samsung A30 however. I've always had the latest note series since the Note2, 3, 4, 5, 8.
If I have my Samsung A30 and Note 8 with Google Maps giving me turn by turn directions, my Note 8 (as with my current phones) will stop reporting my location from the very begining of the trip while my Samsung A30 is giving the correct updates. All phones are connected to the same carrier, and same GPS / App settings.
---------- Post added at 08:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 AM ----------
What is consistent about all my Notes is that I've been using Samsung Smart Switch to transfer over the data from the previous Note to the next. I wonder if I transferred over some corrupt settings somewhere. No GPS app works as it should for me unless I'm connected to WiFi, or restart my device, then it works for a few minutes, then gets "lost" again.

The more I've looked into it, it seems to have occurred following the early Feb update. It also seems to have affected S9 phones and Note 9 and 10 and possibly others after they got the Android 10 update. But it seems to be only a Samsung problem. Samsung, Google, and Verizon are all blaming each other instead of trying to figure out a fix. The biggest issue I see is the lack of control of being able to change the GPS from off to on. Without being able to control the GPS, we are at the mercy of the software to do that and it is obviously failing. The only workaround I have found was what I posted above and utilizing GPS Fix/Optimizer and GPS Status apps, I can get both Waze and Google Maps to work properly. It just bugs me that I have to go through several steps to do this instead of just firing up my navigation app and taking off...
And just to add, I too have used Smart Switch many times before and never had problem. It only started recently. As far as the control for GPS, I'm not sure when that setting was removed. I never paid much attention before because it wasnt necessary. But what I did find curious was that Location setting was buried instead of it being one of the main settings. You really have to dig to find it now...

I have noticed that certain apps like GPS apps require that you reinstall them onto your new device from scratch. As SmartSwitch doesn't seem to transfer the data files corrected to other Samsung devices.

I agree with that but this is not a new device nor have I done any kind of restore or transfer from an old phone in quite a while. All my apps have been fine for over a year now on this Note 8. This only started after the first February "Security" update.

Im pretty sure that's not the case. My Note is still on Android 9 (Pie) which it has been for almost a year now. It has only gotten security and various minor updates but not any kind of OS update. Note 8 will not be getting Android 10, only security updates. I always update Waze and Google maps anytime an update comes out. I usually update all the other apps at least once a week. The GPS apps that I recently downloaded are the only reason that I am able to access and use my GPS through Waze and Google maps.

I've cleared cache, app data, uninstalled all GPS apps, before re-installing in an unsuccessful attempt to resolve the issue.
I even left the Google Maps "beta testing programme" thinking that a beta copy of the app might have been the issue.

Download the 2 apps I mentioned and run them. You may have to do that every time before using Google Maps but it should get you working. It's just aggravating to have to go through several steps when I should be able to open the main app I want and have it work.
Something weird just happened. I know that a couple days ago to find the location setting, I had to go to settings, Google, Account Services, and I found location there. Tonight just messing around, I noticed that it is no longer there. Instead, it is now found under settings, and then Biometrics and Security. It is down towards the bottom. Not sure how this happened as I have not received any kind of system updates. Also GPS Status app seems to just run in the background. When I open up Waze, it seems to find my location right away. I will have to keep monitoring this and see if the problem has actually been worked out.

I've already done this from even before this thread was created, but as you said, it is frustrating for me to have to do this every 10 or so minutes, as GPS stops working quite frequently on my Note 8. GPS was fine with the bone-stock firmware out of the box.

Yes, and yes. 10 minutes later, GPS stops working. It works great if I'm driving past WiFi, however.
I can stream YouTube continuously, so I know my LTE connection is active.

Hey Mikey,
I've noticed that it has improved, but definitely not resolved.
I'm wondering if a factory reset will revert all software updates? I have an appointment tomorrow at the samsung store, and they are going to factory reset and install the most recent software update via their system rather than an OTA which builds upon other updates. I'm backing up my phone now... which in itself is a pain. If not, I did try the GPS fix and the other GPS software, but I did not try them concurrently together, as I found GPS fix to work better. Ultimately though, I didn't think it helped by itself.

No.
I'm bumping this back up to the top. One thing I have noticed is that if I haven't used any location type apps such as google maps or Waze in a while and then open up Android Auto in my Chevy, I have a 50/50 shot of the gps actually working. Actually probably less although occasionally it will work right away. When it doesnt, I have to pull the cord out of the phone disconnecting the Chevy from My Note 8 and even if I only open up Waze or google maps after that, it will still not be able to locate my exact position. When this happens, I have opened up GPS status app and the phone gps is definitely not working. I will then open up GPS fix/optimizer and in the bottom left of the home screen, I will toggle the Service Off to Service On. Checking back with GPS Status, within a couple seconds, it shows that the GPS is now working. I can then plug my phone back into my Chevy and Android Auto with either Waze or Google Maps will be working fine for as long as I'm using it.
I originally thought it was a Samsung software issue. Now I'm starting to wonder. If I use Waze or Google Maps as standalone, they seem to work most of the time. It seems to happen mostly using Android Auto first which then opens the navigation software and if I haven't used any apps that call for location recently. I'm stumped...
Looks like I may be on the right track and Android Auto could be the cause of my issues: https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/17860576
I also found some other info that Adaptive Battery and battery optimization might also have something to do with it. I turned off adaptive battery by going into settings, then device care, then clicked on the battery icon. There are 3 dots in upper right which let you into battery settings. You can turn off adaptive battery there. Next, I went into settings, then apps, and first selected Android Auto. I clicked on the battery choice and then optimize battery usage. There in the top left, I switched from apps not optimized to all. From there I then found Android Auto and turned it off. I then while ein same screen turned off optimization for Maps and Waze. Unfortunately I dont drive that often and now with the VID, I am driving even less so it may be a while before I can verify that this worked.
An update to this. I reached out to the sub forum for Android Auto over on Google Support and got semi confirmation that the problem could actually be coming from Android Auto. One of the explanations given had something to do with Android Auto trying to get info from the vehicles gps device to make it more accurate but it may have problems communicating with the vehicle gps system. I do not have a dedicated navigation in my vehicle so not sure what it is trying to actually connect to so this could partially explain the problem. Why Android Auto would need to connect to any gps device in vehicle is beyond me because for years, my phones have always relied on the in phone GPS and have worked just fine. Here is that thread:
https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/45792804?hl=en
So I'm having the same issue on an unbranded note 8. But I'm not using android auto. I can use gps tools and it holds a lock fine. But if additional programs are launched, waze, maps, jbv1 I lose lock.

Banking NCF stopped working with MIUI 12.0.3

I updated from 12.0.2 to 12.0.3 of MIUI recently and I now cannot pay by NFC with my banking app. My banking app doesn't use Google Pay and I don't have or want Google Pay so I can't try that.
I have checked that "Use HCE" wallet is set. Is there anythign I can do to get things working again?
Does no one have any suggestions on this at all?
@ludditefornow can you elaborate a bit what do you mean by "cannot pay by NFC" - what exactly happens when you place your phone near the terminal: is there any reaction (message) from the banking app or no reaction at all? Did you try to pay with the banking app open? Did you try disabling and re-enabling contactless payments in your banking app? In MIUI settings just below the option where you select "Use HCE" there's another option to select application for contactless payments - maybe the upgrade reset it to "Google Pay"?
I also have MIUI Global 12.0.3 (upgraded from 11.something) but didn't try paying by phone yet.
Thanks for the response. I have always paid with the banking app open. And have never had an issue.
Since 12.0.30 I have had two reactions from the 'pay wave' NFC payment terminals. Either they state that they can't read and throw up an error. or simply do nothing.
I have tried to disable and reenable contactless payments and no difference.
I have confirmed that Google Pay is not the default and that my banking app is. I have also confirmed that my banking app has NFC permissions.
I really have no idea. But I appreciate your reply.
For me (Global version) it's still working fine.
Never used my phone for contactless payments, so can't give specific advice, but a couple of simple questions to help troubleshoot.
Does NFC work at all? Can you communicate with other phones, e.g. can you send a photo to another phone using Nearby Share (or whatever name NFC sharing might be called on MIUI, if it's not the same)
How did you update MIUI? OTA or manually? If manually, did you flash the correct ROM? Because Indian MIUI versions don't have NFC functionality, as the physical device is missing on Indian phones.

Thanks,
three different NFC checking apps return positive to NFC and HCE. There is no Android Beam and as far as I recall there never has been.
Updates always OTA. And the current ROM is global as is my phone.
I've completely uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and then added the card again. I will check it today and see the result.
Thanks for the assistance all.
Yesterday I paid successfully with my phone (as I mentioned - MIUI Global 12.0.3 upgraded from 11.something).
Interesting outcome (for me anyway).
After removing the credit card from the app and then deleting the app, I then reinstalled the app and added the card. This led to the NFC HCE function again working.
Another symptom that appeared at the same time on the update was that I could turn on airplane mode at the icon on the pull down draw on the home screen. I couldn't turn off the airplane mode in the same way. To turn off airplane mode I needed to do so with the slider in settings.
After HCE function started working again, my airplane mode on / off functionality came back as well.
I am just writing this here in case someone at sometime gets something similar and may have another option to try to repair it.

Question 11T Pro - LockScreen Pattern - Not recognized

Hi everyone,
so my issue is simple, yet I don't know what to actually do.
After a recent update via Google Play of some applications (i think that's the main problem), my draw pattern (a correct one) is not recognized by the phone anymore. Whatever I do, my Lock Screen doesn't recognize my correct pattern and lock itself from 10 seconds to 5 minutes depending on how many times I've tried to open it. Even my fingerprint is not recognized (altough as far as I remember, it never is when my phone boots for the 1st time, as pattern must be validated first).
My phone becomes unusable, as it can't unlock. The only 2 options I have are "Emergency call" or "Forgotten password". The latter option just says I have to Wipe Data Format which is not an option for me, as I have important things on my phone.
What solution could I apply, so I can unlock my phone WITHOUT having to delete my data :/
Important to note:
- It's not a problem from screen protector (I've removed it..)
- Generally I was using the option for invisible draw pattern, thus no one sees what I draw as extra protection (maybe it could be part of the problem now after some updates of random apps).. but obviously is working
- My SIM code is still accepted and it's fine, so not everything was Reset for whatever reason, as it's not 0000..
- My phone is updated to the absolute latest version available via OTA and nothing else was added or done
- I didn't use 3rd party Lock Screen other than the one included with the Xiaomi 11T Pro from the system
- I was using Bitdefender (which was not updated when the problem occured), which has the option to randomize pin for applications only (not pattern)
- I've also made the battery drop and the phone to turn-off and left it like that for 2 days to see if it will somehow reset/remember my pattern, but nothing..
I read so many guides online from Google and all seem are promoting some sketchy software which I dont want to risk with unless it's 100%.
Model: Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G 256GB 8GB RAM with Miui 14 (European version)
Thank you Xiaomi friends!
Weird that updates on the playstore have created this problem.
Not much to do, security issue.

Well, I see no other reason for this to happen. Doubt someone hacked me, altough at that time I was using Public wifi in a hotel. It can't be Bitdefender as well I think to scramble my pattern and I've remotely removed it. I've read that maybe if in my pocket the wrong pattern was entered by accident many times, that it will reset, but it makes no sense to me. I'm using latest versions of MIUI and standard apps (not using any unknown ones), everything is from Play Store, as I really can't imagine what issue could be, but for sure I would like to enter without deleting my data :/
Never seen or had this problem and it may be Bitdefender that caused this problem.
No solution without deleting your data.

I was thinking the same, but remembered that LockScreen for Bitdefender was disabled way before that. It was not working for the official Xiaomi LockScreen to scramble anything (especially pattern) as I choose which apps to lock and it was not working on it. It does it only for applications which I've selected and with pin numbers :/ Also I've remotely removed the app support via their Center which means that even if that was the problem (for some unknown reason turned ON lets say), it should not be valid now. Also it was not updated via the last moment I had it working , so for sure it's not this the problem unless someone hacked Bitdefender via my profile, which should be valid also for my 2nd Xiaomi phone, but there I have no problem and it seems very unrealistic scenario for me :/ Also if it was true, they can't change my pattern or pin via website. Problem is somewhere else, as I remember, most were some Google and Xiaomi apps that got updated which I even usually don't use like Auto. I really look for some way to unlock it or somehow make my phone "remember" the correct invisible pattern :/ of course to delete everything would be most easy but that should be last last resort for me :/
Try here to see if the password or account is still the same and works.

I didn't register Xiaomi Account when I took my phone, neither it has such, I don't have Xiaomi Cloud or account, I just have Google account in order to use Google Play :/
Is your bootloader unlocked? If yes, try boot a twrp a12/a13 for 11t pro, see if you can retrieve your data using that.
If you're not unlocked, wipe/format data is your only option. Either from recovery or your google account

As far as I know it's not unlocked/rooted or anything as it's brand new phone I bought in November. So in such case, whatever I do or read from sketchy apps/websites/videos, I should not trust and it's 100% impossible to unlock it or recover my data in any way? In general I can open the notification to turn Wifi on/off, etc, but I can't view messages for example, so just very basic things

Interest to have a Xiaomi account:
Ability to locate the phone and erase data in case of theft or loss.
Cloud Backup:
Sms, Calls, Mms, apps, password, bluetooth, etc..

I am privacy concerned about Xiaomi in general, so that's why I try to minimize services used by it. I have the ability to locate and erase data with BitDefender and Google as well, but that's not an issue at the moment. I can do it, but won't do me any favor. Also Xiaomi Cloud is the last place probably someone would want his private information stored from the hundreds available free alternatives, also is limited to just 2 GB as far as I remember by before, which indeed is useful for SMS, but nothing else. I dont see a reason to use it , neither why would my phone do unnatural things. I worry that this issue will repeat, so yes, backup is always worth to have, but I couldn't imagine I will need it so soon and that it will be for such unlogical reason which none of us seem to know what's the problem which really frustrates me and makes me rethink in general the use of Xiaomi, as such random events happening should be a red flag

Hey, also on 11T Pro? And after update?? Do you remember last things that happened before it "forgot" the pattern? And was it also the invisible type of it? Tell more details, maybe we can get some common points and maybe some solution could be found hopefully :/
Yes on Xiaomi 11T Pro, received miui 14 a week ago. It just randomly happened yesterday as my fingerprint is not detected it asked me to draw the pattern. When I drew it doesn't allow me into phone even though the pattern is correct. For me the pattern is VISIBLE.
did you activate usb debugging? and at least once connected with your pc?
then you can get your files with XIAOMIADBFASTBOOTTOOLS.jar
that's the only option you have left before deleting everything on your phone.

Indeed, it is necessary to have activated the USB debugging and to have already used this program so that the authorization is granted.
Anyway, nothing about this program will remove security or be able to recover data.

Nope, there is no such option and even if it existed, this data is encrypted.

Guys, do you think it's worth to wait for some "miracle" to happen? It seems it's some bug that happens to other people too and hopefully Xiaomi takes action. Maybe if I can get update in background, might get fixed without the need to Wipe data?
PS: I did use before USB Debugging, but from the Settings. I dont know how to turn it remotely from the computer. I also have installed ADB, but I'm not sure how to debug it as it doesn't detect my phone now :/ The XIAOMIADBFASTBOOTTOOLS.jar I havent used.
