[Q] [I537] WiFi Enabling Automatically During Sleep - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Yesterday my I537 4.4.2 AT&T S4 Active started automatically enabling its WiFi when in sleep. No changes were made that would enable this. I've checked all the WiFi settings and Location settings, but nothing has changed. Any idea what might cause this? Thanks.
EDIT (02-07-2015): Found the app doing this. It's Straight Talk's "My Account" app in the Google store.

[Q] WiFi won't list nearby networks, But WiFi works

Hello everyone! This is my first post. I've learned a lot on the forums and I decided I would make an account today.
I've attached a few pictures of what is going on:
So I've had this problem off and on. So when I go to select my wifi networks in settings on my Nexus 6, it will show a blank list and it will say "wifi turning on". When I go to the notification pull down tab and see the wifi networks there, it shows up the list just fine! The only way I've been able to connect to wifi is if I download the app "WiFi analyzer" which will show all networks fine. So I know my WiFi works just fine, but for some reason in my WiFi settings, it doesn't show the list of available networks. I've factory resetted the device 3 times and that will fix it for a few days. Then it just has the same problem again.
I've already tried going to data/misc/wifi/wifi_supplicant.conf and erasing that and then rebooting the phone. I don't think it's a hardware problem, because this is my 2nd Nexus 6 and they have both done the same thing. Maybe a software bug? I've also booted into safe mode and it has the same problem where the wifi networks won't show up.
Some information:
Nexus 6
Rooted
Android L 5.1
Build Number LMY47M
Any help would be appreciated! My wifi works, but it's just bugging me that I can't figure out what the problem is. I don't want to factory reset my phone agian.
I stumbled across your thread while searching for a solution to a nearly identical issue on Marshmallow: notifications for open wifi APs would pop up, the pull-down status bar WiFi icon would list available nearby networks, but clicking on one would advance to the network setup screen that listed no APs. WiFi analyzer apps would list all the nearby networks with no problem. Your screenshots are essentially the same as everything looks in Android 6.0.1.
In my case, the problem was that I had used AppOpsXposed to block the Location permission from the Settings app. In AppOps, "Location" includes "Wi-Fi scan"; thus, the Settings app was denied permission to receive WiFi scan results and therefore listed no networks. There was no indication of this suppression that I could find in logcat, so it took me quite some time to determine the cause.
So, yes, it was my own damn fault.
In your case I doubt this particular problem was the issue because you were factory-resetting to no avail. However, I decided to necro your thread in case this happens to help someone else.

WiFi issue...not switching off on Lollipop 6.0.1

Even if I have selected the wifi to NEVER be active during sleep, whenever I have unlocked my phone from sleep the wifi is always on?? (wifi scannng is off in location settings, and locate the device remotely in Google settings is also off), I have tried to reset network settings, I have even reset the whole device (XT1097 on stock 6.0.1) but the issue remains... any ideas on how to fix this.
AFAIK, there is no stock 6.0.1 for any X (2014). This may explain lots of views and no answer.
Are you sure everything is correct?
Could a rogue carrier app be changing settings?
sorry 6.0 not 6.0.1, my fault, will check to see if tere are any rogue apps but have checked with better battery stats and wakelock detector but neither show anything, except for the fact that wifi is on ALL the time...
Check your location settings as well.

Verizon Pie Killed WiFi Calling

Just updated my Note 9 to pie last night. I can no longer turn on WiFi Calling. I know the setting moved to the Settings when the phone app, but when I go to switch it on, it says that it is unable to. I also have this persistent WiFi calling notification on all the time too.
Anyone else having this issue and found a solution yet?

I have no such problem with my Verizon note.
Attached are screenshots of my issues. When I switch WiFi calling on, it says to wait a few minutes then gives a message that it is unable to enable WiFi calling and to try again later.
Go into your settings app and Search for "My Verizon Services" in the search bar. Make sure this is enabled

Thank you. This worked!

Constant notifications "Wi-Fi Calling preferences updated to optimize network exp."

Constant notifications "Wi-Fi Calling preferences updated to optimize network exp."
So, aside from the common touchscreen and proximity sensor issues, I'm getting this notification constantly that is driving me crazy. If I swipe it away it comes back many times per day. It can't be disabled. I've seen reports of it, but it's not widespread. I've not had this issue on any of my other phones, Samsung or otherwise. The only way to get rid of it is to turn off Wi-Fi Calling. I suppose it could possibly be an issue with the wireless in my home. I use an eero router system. But like I said, it works with all my other devices no problem. Anyone else get this?
what carrier?
so notification pops up only when the wifi-calling is on?
try this:
download samsung members app from galaxy store, click get help (bottom), send report. once you submit a ticket, samsung will be able to tell you what is causing the issue.
Yeah I hate that it does this

I'm on T-Mobile. And almost every instance I could find of this issue on a Samsung device (via google search), the user was also using T-Mobile. And yes, it only happens when WIFI calling is enabled.

Are you also on T-Mobile?
T-Mobile here, and also having the same issue. I just muted/Silenced all the notifications, but they still pop up in the bar.
I have seen it a couple of times at home (also on T-Mobile), but this past weekend, when using a car hotspot (AT&T), it kept showing up over and over again.
S20 FE Unlocked purchased from Samsung directly. Just transferred from Verizon to T-Mobile. At my home, cellular signal is so weak that the phone is basically unusable for calls. Wi-Fi calling is a necessity so I set the Wi-Fi Calling network preference to "Wi-Fi preferred". It doesn't take long for these notifications to show up when the phone changes back to "Cellular preferred" mode on its own. My work around is to turn on Airplane Mode, wait for it to engage, then re-enable Wi-Fi. This works to keep Wi-Fi calling active and stops the constant notifications. I just have to remember to de-select Airplane Mode when I leave the house. A big PITA.
When I was on Verizon the phone would remain in whatever network preference I selected without issue.
i have a workaround for this using tasker, the catch being that you need to have the android 11 (one ui 3.0) update. if you're still on android 10, the custom setting this watches for doesn't exist yet...it was only introduced in the android 11 update.

Wi-fi calling

I bought this phone as it is on the list of phones supported by Vodafone for wi-fi calling as I have a poor signal. The setting to turn on wi-fi calling is missing from the settings menu. I installed an app called "Wifi calling" which allowed me to change the setting and wi-fi calling worked, however, following an upgrade to Android 11, this app no longer works.
Does anyone know of any way that I can enable wi-fi calling on this phone? I was thinking of maybe a shortcut to an Intent.

I sorted this out by getting Vodafone to remove wi-fi calling from my account and then to add it back in. This refreshed the settings menu.
