I will be honest wit you people, I really mess up on my phone.
I was trying to upgrade to lollipop on my AT&T moto X.
I miss the step that I need to unlock my bootloader, so I just came directly to install the pure edition Brazilian rom.
When the phone restart I notice that my phone was not reading my simcard, and It is because my EFS file was deleting and Now I dont have IMEI...
Unfortunately I did not backup my EFS file.
Now my radio is not working, I did already search on all the webs a solutions but I with no luck.
Can anybody help me please!
How did you flash the ROM? Via fast boot? If that's the case you only mess with the modems. Try to download the firmware of at&t and flash the modem and the fsg files. Same happened to me when I converted my Moto x 1097 to 1095. Is not that bad just try my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693

Thank you very much for answering.
To be honest I was not able to fash the rom.
But I will go and try to install the stock room.
pd: where is the stock rom from AT&T? I was not able to find it

How did you update then? Side load update? The problem you have is the modem as I said, nothing more
here is the firmware 4.4.4 of AT&T http://pan.baidu.com/wap/link?uk=3927248220&shareid=4222363237&third=0 unzip the file and try to flash the modems via fastboot, that should be enough.

I did try with on the motorola page, but it said that my phone is not compatible to unlock, so I just try installing the braziliam rom, In the process the phone shows a few error and when it restore there was not signal until I realize that I do not have IMEI on it.

Do you have knowledge of fatboot and bootloader ? in that case unzip the file of your firmware in the same carpet you have the adb and fastboot files, be sure your phone is on "USB debugging mode" and plug your phone to your PC (phone must be power on), then type
adb devices (to see if the phone is recognized)
adb reboot bootloader (to reboot into bootloader)
fastboot devices (to see if the phone is recognized in fastboot, because sometimes it doesnt)
fastboot erase modemst1 (delete the old modems)
fastboot erase modemst2 (delete the old modems)
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin (flash the modems of your phone model)
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn (flash the modem of your phone model)
mfastboot reboot
After the reboor you will have signal again after a couple of minutes, and of course your IMEI is back too.
hope it helps

I found the at&t modem NON-Hlos.img but I can't find the fsg fsg.bn. and the first one is not working.
could you please be so kind to tell me where can I find those files please
RESOLVED!!!!
OK, let me tell you what I did.
I follow the steps that you gave me but it did not work.
Then I tryed installing the at&t room but it just mess more the things, because when I reboot the phone it went straight to the boot loader, and I was not able to turn on the phone. at this time I was really scared xD
so I create a new folder with the at&t room and the fastboot.
open fastboot and start flashing all the files in the folder, but this time I did not flashed the non-hls neifghter the fsg file.
then I just reboot the phone and read the sim card quickly.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
you save my life. I really appreciate your help.

not sure what you did at all because all the phones are rooted the same way.
i would download the 4.2.2 firmware here
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/download.php?device=0&file=18
then go to this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603358
and follow the guide for returning to stock.
then after you are stock decide if you want to unlock your bootloader or not. then pick the guide based on what you decide and follow it for root

if it keeps force closing then you are not returning the phone to stock. because if you did that would not happen.
so i need you to explain to me what you are using when returning your phone to stock because it is not taking for some reason.

Well you have to flash the NON-HLOS.bin or it is not going to work.
Why not just download the full Sprint firmware file(I believe you've already done this) download rsdlite, remove the var line from the xml, and with one click your phone will work fine again.

So one of my buddies took the OTA update for 4.4.2 while being rooted on 4.4 with TWRP as his recovery. Now he is stuck in an endless bootloop. Any idea what we could do to bring his phone back to life?
By the way, he is on Sprint and has his bootloader unlocked
Any advice would help!

Just flash the latest firmware for your device at http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
Then accept the OTA.
Re-install TWRP.
Hope this works for you too.

So to accept the OTA, did you go through the bootloader/recovery and flash it, or were you able to turn on your phone and accept it? Sorry I don't have his phone on me right now otherwise I would have done it .
Don't flash the full SBF..
boot the phone into fastboot mode... mfastboot erase cache... the reboot the phone. that will remove the OTA zip file from chache and stop the boot loop.
The bootloop is because the phone has TWRP on it rather than stock recovery.
To take the OTA properly, use mfastboot to reflash stock recovery only. Also have him undo any hacks that might have touched system files or the OTA will fail, (mfastboot system will also get /system back to normal)...

I am having this very same problem. My phone just today went into boot loop. Running KangKat on unlocked 1053 with Faux kernel. No boot logo or anything. The phone just vibrates then after 30 seconds or so, it vibrates again. It does this non-stop.
I can plug my phone into USB and the phone's contents come up on my computer, but I can't get the screen to turn on!! Any ideas?

KangKat wtih Faux kernel? So you are not running the stock rom? I'm suprised the actually OTA installed.
I don't know anything about that rom, or kernel to begin to tell you how to fix this situation, short of reflashing your rom

He probably flashed the "Flashable 4.4.2 ZIP" that is flashable through TWRP.
@Globalrebel :
You need to try to get into bootloader (AP Fastboot) mode. Try holding the VOL DOWN while the phone reboots (vibrates). Make sure the phone is unplugged from USB. If you can access fastboot, your best best would probably to flash the entire SBF back to stock.
Always check here first before you do something like trying to flash a stock update on a custom rom. We would have quickly informed you that this is ill-advised.
Good Luck
Ok, so I have held down the power button, and then when vibrating starts, I hold down vol down button. Then, it vibrates 2 times. What now? (Sorry, I'm freaked out as this is my only phones )
How can i check to see if it is actually in Fastboot mode? Since my screen doesn't show ANYTHING at all?
I started up an ADB server and connected my phone and tried "adb devices" but my phone isn't listed.

But I don't see anything in RSDLite after running it and clicking "Show Device"
Can I just to the manual method?
For manual method, should I copy all the files into the same folder as my mfastboot.exe?

Yes,I suggested manual method in last post. Faster and easier.
Yes extract the sbf to the folder containing mfastboot and fastboot.
The only thing you will do differently is one of the last lines that says carrier vzw, change it to carrier sprint.
Make sure u are using the 4.4.2 sprint sbf.

This looks to be a hardware failure :/
Sorry, I don't have any further troubleshooting techniques for you...
Its all good. I think the screen just decided to die on me?!?! Which REALLY SUCKS! I'm still in my 1 year warranty policy. After fastbooting the original 4.4.2, will motorola know I did anything to the phone? IE, can they know I flashed anything?

If you unlocked the bootloader they know it. Technically your warranty is void... But they might replace/fix it anyways. Don't mention it and see what happens. Let us know.
My moto X has a problem , let me show you the log file first
-Unlocked using motorola's website
-Flashed TWRP recovery
-Created a backup
-[MISTAKE 1]Wiped using advanced wipe
-Everything including the backup I created got wiped ,with no OS
-Mounted and tried to install CyanogenMod 11
-[ERROR 1]This rom is supported by ghost xt1053(my model number) ,and your device is . (like just a dot) //Cannot install the zip file
-[BRICKED]
-Then I searched what to do ,downloaded "TMO_213.44.1.ghost_row.Retail.en.US" firmware
-Using fastboot ,I flashed the firmware using the following commands
After downloading the image for your device:
Unzip the image.
Put your device in fastboot mode.
NOTE: You must use the Motorola fastboot utility to flash (included in the Darwin/, Linux/ or Windows/ directory). Please do NOT use the Android fastboot utility
Follow the flashing steps in the .xml file that was included in the package.
A typical flashing sequence includes all these partitions, but might vary depending on your product - so please use the sequence in the .xml file in your package:
$ fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
$ fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
$ fastboot reboot-bootloader
$ fastboot flash logo logo.bin
$ fastboot flash boot boot.img
$ fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
$ fastboot flash system system.img
$ fastboot erase modemst1
$ fastboot erase modemst2
$ fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
$ fastboot reboot
You also have the option to erase all the data on your device with
$ fastboot erase userdata
$ fastboot erase cache
After performing this sequence, you can relock your device with
$ fastboot oem lock
-It showed an error During locking the device
-The phone finally started working [UNBRICKED?]
-My sim card wasnt detecting
-So I searched more ,and checked my IMEI
-Dialed *#06# and got "IMEI 0"
-For confirmation ,I went again to settings->about->Status
-Everything was fine except "IMEI 0",and "IMEI SV 00"
-I couldnt find anything online except changing my IMEI ,which is ,one: illegal and two: not possible since I do not have Engineering mode app in my phone
-Headed over to the service center and they told me that my motherboard is gone ,you have to pay 291.050 US Dollars to change it
-But if the motherboard is gone ,how can my phone work ?
Here is my question to you guys ,what should I do ? Can I do anything to get my phone working again ? Please help me as I am not using a phone ,and I really need to use this one .
Thanks in advanced
Sorry for my bad English
I think there was a step you missed there when flashing:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
and it's better to use Motorola fastboot aka mfastboot instead of regular old fastboot. if you don't have it just Google for it.
for a more complete guide see option 5 on this site: http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html
Also there is absolutely no need for that last step you tried, fastboot oem lock... that will relock your bootloader which is totally unnecessary. you don't need it for otas or anything else, and as for warranty your phone is already flagged as unlocked and relocking it won't change that.

Also there is absolutely no need for that last step you tried, fastboot oem lock... that will relock your bootloader which is totally unnecessary. you don't need it for otas or anything else, and as for warranty your phone is already flagged as unlocked and relocking it won't change that.

It's OK dude first step is to relax and realize that losing imei is not a new thing, it's happened to countless others. what that means is there should be a huge amount of info on what people have tried and what worked and didn't work. You'll find all the info by using Google search and changing keywords.
some keywords to try:
fastboot imei
Motorola recover imei
Restore imei
imei 0
recover imei
efs imei
and so on. if you read through them and feel you're not up to it, or if you try everything and nothing works, you have another option maybe:
Take it in / send it in for repair to Motorola or other (certified) repair shop
good luck.
BTW: The original box the phone comes in has your imei written on it. otherwise you can try the fastboot getvar method but that might or might not work.
Can you try to falsh using RSD lite it Completly safe and esay process . Try it once

Hi I been flashing the CM 12.1 nightlies, starting from the mexican 5.0.2 stock firmware for a while. Suddenly, the power button and the screen got unresponsive.... i've tried to flash back to stock several times, either kitkat or lollipop, with the same results... The only different thing I noticed was when I started the bootloader menu the baseband line was empty. One of the times I flashed to stock it came back and start working correctly, but when I flashed CM again the same thing happened.
Now I have the baseband line black and the OS keeps crushing....
I tried flashing the radio only with the same results....
Any thoughts?
PS: RSD lite 6.2.4 doesn't recognize my devices so I flash with cmd and mfastboot using these commands:
mfastboot getvar max-sparse-size
mfastboot flash motoboot bootloader.img
mfastboot flash radio radio.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot erase clogo
mfastboot oem fb_mode_clear
mfastboot reboot
Please help!
I had a similar problem with my XT1254. I was using a modified stock 5.1 system image (since that's all we can do with our locked bootloaders...for now. Our hope lies with you, jcase and beaups!) and after months of using it without any issues, it crashed. I got it working again by using similar steps to what you did to flash 4.4.4, but with a few exceptions:
1. I used fastboot instead of mfastboot.
2. I flashed something called gbt.bin I think to the "partition" partition. I'll re-download the firmware that I used and confirm that. I was following the flash sequence in the full firmware's xml file.
3. When the phone finally booted (it seems like it took between 5-10 minutes), I went through the initial setup, and I noticed a notification that said "complete uninstall." I clicked on it, and it said that it wanted to restore the motorola sensor firmware to a previous version. I said okay, and it did whatever it needed to do and rebooted the phone.
Now the phone boots fine (phew), but the baseband line in the bootloader is still blank. It might be related, but I remember that the moto app and also the moto actions (I think?) app updated itself recently, so maybe that sensor firmware update is the cause of the problem?
EDIT: Here are my exact flash steps. Keep in mind that this is for a Droid Turbo, not the Moto Maxx that you must be using. I'm not sure if that matters.
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot bootloader.img
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk7
fastboot erase ddr
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
EDIT2: I set up my 5.1 image just to see if I could replicate the crash and sure enough, once I updated Moto Actions, everything fell apart.

EDIT3: I just noticed that on Rootjunky's video, his baseband appears blank too, so maybe it was always blank and we just didn't notice before.

Did you ever fix your problem? If so, how? Because my phone is messing up again and my previous method isn't working.

Yeah I was Ok for a few days without the moto updates, but then it started crashing again... I don't know how to fix it... the baseband keeps going on and off in the fastboot mode and everytime it goes off the problem arise

That's weird. I got a warranty replacement from Motorola that appeared to be brand new and before I modified it, I checked the bootloader. Baseband was blank. So even on a stock, unmodified phone, it can be blank. Here's my thread that details everything that I tried to fix this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/help/complicated-problem-restore-doesnt-help-t3184251. I managed to temporarily fix it, but it always broke again once I reflashed 5.1. I posted the system image that I made that temporarily fixed the problem, but remember that is for an XT1254, so I don't think it will work for you.
Hello Sir
I was about to update to computerfreak's .49 rom (version 1.37 that is). Prior to that I wanted to update to the latest modem, So i flashed the modem cleaner, and then the radio from firstencounter's thread
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/droid-turbo-xt1254-bootloader-radio-t3259327)
Since then my baseband is unknown. I can't connect to wifi and my sim isn't being read
You seem to have fixed the problem? I was on computerfreaks 1.35 till now with no issues (except GPS wouldn't lock)
Hi all.
I just wanted to share my finding regarding this problem.
I realise that this may not fix the problem for everyone, but searching the forum, I have found MANY folks that have tried all the things that I have to no avail..
So I am posting this in hope that some of them might see this and hopefully cure their "Unknown Baseband", "No IMEI" and "No SIM card"
I recently upgraded to RR Marshmallow witch fixed some other problems I have had with my XT1254 Droid Turbo (Bluetooth related)
I also upgraded my Radio.img from 02r to 03r (44 to 49?)
While this fixed my Bluetooth problems and everything was running really well for 2-3 days, out of nowhere, in the middle of a phone call, I got: No IMEI, Unknown Baseband and no SIM card...
I searched the forum (and google) and have tried just about everything..
Upgrade / downgrade firmware
Install stock rom
Backup/restore EFS / IMEI partition
Different radios
A few third party programs
Loads of ADB commands (learned a lot in the process though!)
I was kinda ready to give up and buy a new phone, so I thought I might as well try something daring WITCH FIXED MY PROBLEM!!!
I sprayed a little electrical cleaner into the SIM slot and let it dry out. When I pushed in the SIM card, I felt some resistance that definitely wasn't there before! I know this for sure because I removed / inserted the SIM card a LOT of times to see if it would connect.
My guess is that there is a mechanism that pushes the SIM connection points away from the SIM card when it is being pushed in, and when it is al the way in, it will snap back up against the card. (or some other mechanism that tells the phone that a SIM card has been inserted. I don't know)
This mechanism must have gotten stuck and the cleaner must have removed whatever was keeping it from moving.
I DO NOT recommend people doing this, since it may damage your device (I suppose if you are really unlucky, it might even blow up your battery?¿)
A more gentle approach would be to pray off the back cover (haven't tried this myself, but youtube suggest this is fairly easy) and clean / massage the mechanism in a more controlled manor.
Best of luck to all of you! I hope you find a fix for your problem!

In case you can't get someone to fix it for you...
You must have flashed an American firmware, which has an incompatible baseband/modem, and since all Victara firmwares are now at the same Android level (6.0 May 2016 patch), I suggest you reflash the full Canadian RETCA firmware (I think there's only one RETCA firmware that works with all Canadian carriers).
But first, put the phone in Bootloader mode, and type:
fastboot getvar all
Copy all the info into a Notepad file and keep it.
You can download the RETCA firmware from here:
https://firmware.center:8081/firmware/Motorola/Moto X (2nd gen-2014)/Stock/XT1097/
VICTARA_RETCA_XT1097_6.0_MPE24.49-18_cid14_CFC.xml.zip
You flash it in Bootloader mode like this:
fastboot getvar max-sparse-size
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.8
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.9
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase customize
fastboot erase clogo
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
fastboot reboot
Which carrier did you get the phone from, and which one is it going to be used with?
Install the Motorola USB drivers:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481
Extract the firmware zip and the ADB-FastBoot zip, and put all the files in the same folder.
Shift+Right-Click inside that folder, Open command window here... Paste all the fastboot commands.
Holy!! This did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was flashing a Telus stock recovery because that was the provider and it wasn't working!!!
But this worked amazing thank you so much!!!
I NO LONGER NEED HELP HAHA!!
