Why is T-Mobile 4G LTE Reception Spotty? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why is T-Mobile 4G LTE Reception Spotty even in Metropolitan areas? Is there anyway to resolve this without getting involved with the whole CellSpot request?

Band 4 LTE has poor building penetration. If you're lucky to be in an area when they activate Band 12, you should see things improve.

At&t coverage map

Does anyone have a real (not the one provided by at&t) hspa and 3g map?
I need this because I'm currently using h and it loses signal a lot so I was wondering if 3g would be better...

Las Vegas and Kansas City LTE

Could anyone from Kansas or Vegas confirm if Nexus 4 is successfully connecting to T-Mobile's LTE with a simple dialer tweak.
1. Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2. Choose Phone Information
3. Scroll down and change from WCDMA Preferred to LTE only or LTE/GSM auto
4. See if your status bar shows "4G"
5. Run some speedtest and post screenshots here
There are sporadic reports from different Samsung users that LTE is live in some areas of Kansas and Vegas. It would be great if someone with Nexus 4 could verify this.
Thanks! :good:
I am wanting to know this information too!
There must be at least one person with nexus 4...
Yes! the public has to know!
I've been leaving my phone in LTE/GSM mode full time... lol. I'm not even in an announced 1900mhz refarmed market!

I'm 15 miles from the heart of the city, have always been unable to pick up the hspa+ signal..... no dice on the lte as of today. I'll be in downtown KC tomorrow, will run the test again and update.

Just because they have LTE now doesn't mean its on the correct band. It has to be band 4 AWS. There are about 5 cities in the US with that frequency which isn't a common one for AT&T to use.

He is directing this to T-Mobile users in the areas. T-Mobile is launching LTE and utilizing the band 4 AWS.

AT&T transfered a lot of its AWS spectrum to TMo last year. All the other threads on LTE were for AT&T as they were the only carrier with AWS LTE at the time.
For clarification - I am testing the T-Mobile signal here in the KC and metro areas. Will be able to provide a more definitive answer tomorrow, but as of today I have zero signal when set to "lte only".
Jonas-
Kansas City. I'm relatively close to downtown. Full bars on HSPA+. For the past week, I've been trying to see if I can get a LTE connection, but so far, no dice.

It looks like there is LTE connectivity in Oak Park Mall area of Kansas City. If anyone is near you could swing by and test it.
Thanks again!
Actually the EXACT location is "the parking lot of Burger King thats located on the corner of 95th Street and Quivira right by Oak Park Mall" in KC area.
There's no LTE in Las Vegas. I live here so there's the source

There is also an App called Phone Info that allows you to get to the network settings without dialing that code.
For some reason is no longer available in Google Play, but you can google the apk or get it here:

I'm using the app PhoneInfo by Roys and its on the Play Store.
PhoneInfo app would do it.

I don't live in an LTE area normally, however I flew to both Dallas and Houston a couple days ago which are LTE areas. I did have trouble staying connected to LTE for long but I wasn't there long enough to tell if the weak connection was due to the airport/bad range/something else. I would flicker between that and 3G pretty often when I was using my phone, but I was also moving all over the place.
Yea it's a known issue with the Evo LTE just checking if it's still a problem. Thats the only thing that aggregate me. Just hoping it's not on the ONE im fixing to upgrade

It connects a lot better to 4G but does not hold it very well in fringe LTE coverage areas from my experience all over florida

Slow LTE

I live outside of a city with LTE so my phone sometimes fluctuates between that and HSPA+. So, I downloaded the new FCC Speedtest app and decided to try it out today. On HSPA+, my downloads were about 10-11 Mbps, but when it switched to LTE, I could only pull about half that. Is there any way to manually toggle between the two connection types or any suggestions to speed up my LTE speeds? In town, my speeds on LTE are great, not so much where I live.

US Carriers Sprint/ATT/VZV/TMo/prepaid?

Which US carriers has everyone got the Mi 5 to work on? Specifically. I'm wondering about Sprint. Has anyone activated this phone on Sprint?

So, how do you like the phone on T-Mobile? What kind of speeds are you seeing with hspa?
I am not sure whether to go for this or OnePlus 3. Your response will make my decision go one way or the other
Hi, usually hspa gets me about 3-4 MB/s. It's unfortunate that I haven't gotten lte working, but I personally I have wifi almost everywhere.

Ok, thanks for the info. I see that there are lots of areas where I see that network coverage will be spotty for T-Mobile as the device does not carry critical T-Mobile bands. So, I decided to stay away from MI 5 even though I love the look of the device.
