[Q] Lumia 920 Unresponsive touch after Update to 8.1 - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks...
I got an 920 from AT&T sim unlocked, model RM-820 059L484 when update it to 8.1 from 8.0 the screen touch comes unresponsive...
So I have no other option than swap it to 8.0 again...
I though that was a problem with the AT&T rom, 'cause my phone is sim unlocked, so I made all long process to flash it to unbranded 8.1 Cyan rom, but the bug happened again, with windows 8.0 with the first 2 software OTA updates woks fine, with the third arise the problem, so with the sock an 2 OTA updates no issues at all.
I'm not in US, and it's not under any kind of warranties...
Any Idea????
Best regards

Htc rolling out own firmware post nodo!!!

Apparently HTC seems to be releasing its own firmware updates for WP7 following NODO update by MS
http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2011/04/06/htc-releasing-new-wp7-update/
There is rumour that CHevron unlocked phones could brick or create problems with the update although some Dev's with chevron unlocked phones haven't had and issues so far.
But on the plus point most of the chevron unlocked phones seem to be getting this update first
It seems this will sort out the hardware aspect of HTC phones to work better with NODO and future MS updatess
And as usual you will be at the mercy of the Networks to receive the update unless you have a sim free unbranded phone.
I have the NODO update (via goldcard and then offical 89->90 update). But have not seen the HTC update (unbranded SIM unlocked phone).
Gordon.
Hello guys,
I have the European Rom with NoDo update and until now nothing appears in Zune regarding this HTC update.
(Unbranded SIM unlocked phone)
Thanks,
Santos
I did get the HTC update and it broke the camera (couldn't save picture) and twitter / seesmic won't update tweets.
Lets undo nodo....what say...?? Its creating more trouble than solving it...am seriously thinking oral a roll back..
My nodo has been flawless, as are 10 other co-worker phones I've updated. Longer battery, faster load times, c&p, marketplace improvements.
All good here.
Except fir the few other fixes I was hoping MS would've addressed with NoDo, I really like this update. The only problem fir me is the battery life. It looks like its draining faster than pre-NoDo. Could be my usage too. But overall very happy with the update.

I don't think the nodo update is the problem. Hopefully HTC gets it together and sends out a proper update.

I got this infamous HTC update and, if not bricking, I honestly think it does something to NoDo unlocked handsets. Since I've done it, I got no access thru Zune to the Marketplace applications (unless I use the registry trick), big point is that I always had access to it until I've installed the update and i'm in Belgium, country where Marketplace is allowed by default (BE). Have to reinstall anyway my work laptop, so I'll see what it gives after if I return back to 7008 than upgrade the all thing the "legal way", than once again do it, but with unlocking first. Will post my results.
Roll Back to pre-Nodo
I got fed up with waiting for the Nodo update and used the disconnect trick to get updated.
I had not received the HTC Update.
I have now rolled back to pre-nodo and immediately got offered nodo, it also states thta it includes a HTC device update. It's gonna take forever to update as my card's pretty full so I'll come back if I get offered a further update. It seems possbile though that it might be rolled up together in the one update.
Ok, update finally finished, no apparent colour banding on my HD7.
Firmware: 2250.09.16901.707

What news bring the update?

Nodo flawless for me on my hd7
Ive used chevron to get NoDo and im having ALOT of trouble getting this update
Worked fine on my HD7. Got pre-NoDo via Zune, flashed NoDo with Chevron and got the HTC-Update 2 days later - without any problems.
Well, I flashed via Chevron because o2 Germany was very late with pushing the pre NoDo and NoDo. Now it is available.
I flashed back to 7004 with an o2-Rom from here and got the instant notification of the pre-NoDo afterwards. Currently flashing official NoDo as I'm typing.
I guess it is the best way to go through this process if you have problems with the HTC-update after Chevron.
Initially I tried quick wireless disconnect to get NoDo update last March 31 - my phone has color banding.
Last night, reverted back to pre-NoDo 7.0.7008 and immediately got notification for an update - Confirmed no color banding for 7.0.7008
After going through the normal NoDo update again (just single update, no separate HTC update), I got color banding again!
Same FW and HW revisions when i used quick wireless disconnect and normal updating methods:
Model: hd7 t9292 OS Version: 7.0.7390.0
FW rev ver number: 2250.09.16901.728
HW rev num: 0002
Radio SW ver: 5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10U
radio HW: A.102.0.D4
Bootloader version: 1.69.2250.0(117833)
chip SOC: 2.2.5.0
Color banding can be seen using WP Bench, and some apps' backgrounds like Tech News Now and Messenger By Miyowa
Do you get a notification on your phone for this HTC update like you do for official nodo (or other updates) or is it just luck of the drwa, plug into zune to check?

I got my HD7 T9292 last week. Via Zune, I immediately got the pre NoDo update followed by the NoDo update. I did not take a screen shot but I am fairly certain that at the bottom of the list of improvements in Zune was "HTC Update".
This leads me to believe that the HTC pushed update that persons who used the Chevron Hack reported receiving, resulted from them not having received it bundled with the official NoDo update as they should have. I suspect that they got nothing extra, they got it late.

[Q] Problem updating after receiving replacement phone

Hey all!
Had my Three UK Htc One stolen a month ago and received my replacement from my insurers today. Was told it's a sim unlocked phone and should work on my network.
Went and put my Three sim in, restored my backup from my previous phone that was stored on HTC Sync / HTC backup and went to update.
It downloaded the update but when it was verifying it came up with "we have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software.... etc etc" and wouldn't update.
Am i right in thinking this is because it's a three sim? or something to do with it being sim free?
Was considering rooting and unlocking the bootloader / S-Off'ing but does that make it so that it won't receive OTA updates? Would it be an issue with having a three sim in or would i be able to flash a standard non branded ruu after super cid'ing?
Bit confused as exceptionally tired but would like to get my phone to a normal condition (preferably rooted but still able to receive OTA updates)
Cheers for any impending help

Still on Android 8.0 (Oct 2018) update.

I'm still on Android 8.0 on my unlocked Moto X4 (XT1900-5). Is anybody else still 8.0 with this model?

Yes, I did not receive the OTA update to pie from Motorola yet (xt1900-7).
Glad to hear it, I was starting to think something was wrong with my handset.
Me too. We were left behind.
OTA server issue?
Are you in the UK? My moto x4 is stuck on the exact same update. XT1900-5, reteu software channel.
Motorola UK's website shows that the Pie update has been released when in actual fact, it has not been released at all. I have a feeling that there has been some error or issue with the OTA server causing no one here to recieve it.
A few people got it in December when it was released for all other variants, but that OTA clearly stopped soon after and now there have been no updates since October. It's a pretty poor performance from Motorola to be honest. I see no reason why they can't at least release security updates for Oreo.
Yep in the UK XT1900-5, unlocked.

With an unlocked bootloader, you usually will not get any OTA updates. If you can download them, then you cannot install them.

I meant unlocked, as in SIM free.
I've emailed Motorola, who told me they contacted their technical team. They are adamant that Pie will be released officially in the "near future" and they are aware there haven't been any updates since October. So, take that as you wish.
The Android 9.0 update has just appeared on my phone today.
Someone over on reddit mentioned that he wasn't getting it ota, but temporarily switched to a SIM from another carrier and it immediately showed up when he booted to the new SIM.
It seems that it now says on Motorola's UK software upgrade page, that the Moto X4 sim free began rolling 9.0 on 24th June 2019.

That would've been me. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence though because the update was released on the same day!
I had a similar experience. XT1900-5 version, running android 8.0.0 when I bought it. Didn't find any updates when I searched to try to update it to android 9 (pie) , I unlocked the bootloader, and later on decided to put a sim in it. After a few minutes of having the sim in, it found the update. The update downloads but when it's downloaded and in the "verifying" stage, it fails, probably because I unlocked the bootloader.
Advice to anyone with a locked bootloader - don't be like me, try putting a sim in the phone and get the update before doing anything else if you want Android 9.

must be stock rom to allow update to complete. Plug it to Motorola Rescue and Smart Assistant to see if it will update it.

[Help] Flashed verizon firmware on my Att Z2 force

Help Guys!
I know I am a dumb f**k but I accidently flashed xt1789-01 Firmware on my 04 Model.
I have IMEI and everything showing on my phone.
But my Sim isn't working for weird reasons. (It says the sim card isn't compatible with Verizon)
I wanna revert back to Att but it isn't as easy as upgrading to Pie on my Att z2 force.
It won't letme flash Att back on my att phone. It says wrong firmware (lmfao?).
I guess it says this because of the last update on att model was Oreo 8.1.
And the last one on Verizon was 9.0.
