Hi guys, I am new to both android and root as Z3C is my first android phone.
After my attempt to root following the thread, I think I succeeded in rooting my Z3C as I got SuperSU and access to several root privileges.
I havent installed much apps or did much modification, just using TitaniumBackup , DeviceFaker and SDFix.
However, I found that my phone will sometimes not respond to tap2wake, which force me to use the on/off button on the rear side.
The on/off button functions normally but then I will not be able to use tap2wake anymore until I reboot the phone.
Also, rebooting cannot be done by the normal way as it will be hold at the shutdown screen for a long time without shutting down.
I was forced to use the on/off button + vol up button to force shutdown it.
Have I done anything wrong during root or is it a problem due to some sort of app crash?
Thank you for all your help!
P.S. I am from Hong Kong and my model is D5833, I flashed the .77 ver. from TW.

Hi all,
my volume down button (I9001) seems to be broken. I usually don't need it and only noticed because navigation in the recovery mode was impossible.
Is this a hardware problem or is it possible that it is a consequence of rooting my phone?
Also, can somebody help me with a procedure for unrooting it without having to use the volume down button?
Thanks!
Marsi
Rooting is like changing to an administrator account on a PC. You just get access to some things which were previously inaccessible.
In my opinion its a hardware issue. Open the back case and see if the button looks jammed.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Thank you!
Is there a way to unroot without using the volume down button?
Thanks,
Marsi

listen carefully brother .... there is a pc program named 'unlook root' it give you root permission but if you already have root it can unroot your device by installing the program on your pc and enabling debugging in your phone and connect your phone to the pc then open the program and press unroot , concerning the volume down button,,,,,, try to flash another stock rom to see if it is hardware or software one ....
I got a problem with my aunt's mobile ( galaxy s plus i9001 ), the problem is the home button is pressing spontaneously & it's very annoying , she can't access anything & it happen often when moving the mobile...
I don't know what the problem is , i searched everywhere for a solution but with no benefit... If some1 could tell me what to do? or if I can disable the home button completely...
the phone is rooted & i tried to install a new rom... also nothing changed...
Thanks in advance for any1 who could help...
Same here.
I didn't find a solution, but I figured out it happens only on 2G. When you're on WiFi or 3G, or data transfer is completely disabled - the problem is gone.

hello!
so this probably isn't needed anymore but for future google searches:
how to disable the home button for waking the phone:
i'm on cyanogen mod 10, i did a litle tinkering. mount system with some root explorer. then go to system/usr/keylayout
change permissions to the file "aries_keypad" to RW.
open that file in an text editor and delete "key 102 home wake" just to "key 102 home".
save the file, reboot your phone and voila! no more waking the phone from a faulty home button.
i couldn't find a screwdriver to disasemble the phone but u should definetly do that instead!
cheers!
ohh, and just wanna say thanx XDA!
Hi @shaadd0w , i don't know if you have found a solution, but look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38948474&postcount=2 Christopher83 released kernels for ICS and for JB with a new kernel module called Phantom Key Presses filter to avoid this behaviour (is an hardware issue, related to the antenna) no kernel for GB implements this module, so you have to install a ICS or JB rom. this module is also included in every 3.4 kernel for i9001. if you install a kernel with this module you have to enable home key filtering (by default it is disabled). you can easily manage all this settings with this app (it will work only if you have a kernel with this module) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265256, it is even on play store!
Sounds more like a manufacture problem. Take the phone apart. Or if its still under warranty (Who knows?) Flash stock and return.
Hi,
I purchased a new sony xperia sp a few days ago and was trying to configure it for my preferences.. basically installed a talking notifications girl app from google store...
However something went wrong it seems and now the screen is locked and I just can't open it.. whatever action I do- swiping to unlock or any other thing.. that app just says that loudly with no actual response and activity on the screen.
I tried to reset the phone by opening the cover .. but no success...
then I tried to boot into safe mode holding volume keys - though booted into safe mode but it was doing same thing again.. just talking back my actions without actual response..
I am at my wit's end.. anyone can help please?
The android version is 4.1 and I hadn't updated it to recent version and the phone software was also orignal .. phone hasn't been rooted.
Kindly help,
Thanks in advance

Gstech
resolved.
okay.. was the post not relevant to the forum since there were so many views but no reply?..
anyway..I got to learn few things from the problem.. got it resolved now..
resetting from back and safe mode didn't work..neither pressing the power key and volume key for hard reset.
thanks to google for relevant links and info
this is what resolved the issue.. anyone who faces such issue in future...
1. connected the phone to computer via usb cable. sony pc companion detected it and recommended to update.
2. updated the software to version 4.3 .. took a long time just to download the update.
3. follow the instruction given on screen to update. takes a while to update..
4. However even after update the offending app was still not letting me do anything..
5. once you have updated, there is an option to repair the phone .. select it and PC companion will warn that all existing data will be lost .. proceed and then let the phone repair process complete. This is what finally resolved the issue but all my earlier apps and settings were lost but I got the phone in usable state at least.
Hope this helps anyone having same issue.
issue resolved.
Hey guys, hope you could help me with my problem.
So I've been trying to install many custom roms in my samsung to try it out, and then I decided to return to my stock rom, then I rooted it. After I rooted it, my power button/lock button started to malfunction, it won't lock my screen after the first press, then after pressing a couple of times, it reboots without any warning. Any solution? I don't think it is a hardware problem because when turning it on, it works fine. Also, it doesn't always happen, but it is really getting annoying when my phone starts to reboot again. I've found a similar problem here and tried the solution, but it didn't work. I also tried to format, return to my stock rom again, but no luck

Hello all,
I'll try to be brief, but descriptive.
Months ago I tested out a used S4A in sink... it got wet. I dried it out and it was working mostly fine. Changed the charging port/ribbon cable and worked fine except for the menu button was dead.
Rooted device with Towelroot and was getting ready to try and install custom ROM, why for some reason I deleted Towelroot app and restarted. Phone has since been stuck in Safe mode. I can install apps like safestrap, but can't get to them, being in safe mode.
I've tried flashing a custom recovery, and many factory resets after attempting "try this" and try that's" from forums. Nothing has worked.
I used to have an HTC that had a ROM mounted onto an SD card that I could run from RAM (at least I think thats how it worked), is that possible on this device? or is there any other solution to this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Solved
Apparently, I didn't clean it enough. I cleaned the contacts a couple times, but is seems that it was not enough. Unit is now operating normally. In addition, through testing everything, I noticed that the menu button on the board wasn't pressing forward towards the face button quite enough. I stuffed something in there to press it forward and now it is working perfectly!
