Video HIghlights - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For the life of me I can't find the name of the apps here, though I thought I saw it. Is there an app that can make highlight videos from pictures, just like how the HTC One series does?

Have you tried auto awesome movies on googles photo app? Magesto is another I've tried that works well.

I'll give Magesto a try, thanks! It seems that Google wanted the photos to be backed up using Google+ before it would make the video highlights, which I didn't want to do just yet.

Magisto looks great! But it's not free. Time to try the Google one.

These both seem to be cloud based; every time I want to create or change something it has to download them. Is there one that can use the photos on my device? I never realized how well HTC nailed this until now.

Upload video to youtube from your pocket pc (if you can send email)

Hey,
If you guys want an easy way of sending a video to youtube, check out http://tubeseries.net/welcome.aspx
Once you register, you can get an email address you send videos to. Once a video is sent, the site will upload it to youtube for you, using the subject of the email as the title and the body as the description.
Once uploaded, you get back an email giving you the link to the newly updated video.
This is still alpha!!! My suggestion to you is to create a secondary youtube account to use this with.
I just use Qik. It allows live streaming from your phone as well, and automatic posting to many different video serving sites, including youtube.
I use qik too for certain things.
The problem is that you get much worse fps with qik because it does everything online. It also takes longer to set up and requires a better connection where as here you can take the videos even when there's no connection and fire-and-forget them via email.
I think monx®, is trying to port that function from the Touch HD or MAX4G into his ROM.
You should be able to upload both to Facebook and youtube.
I don't think that the function is up and running just yet, bu follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451748
This is pretty cool, but already exists standard with Youtube accounts.
Go to http://www.youtube.com/account#mobile/profile and it will give you an email address to send to that auto uploads. I've been using this for a while and it works pretty well.
But I also second the Qik recommendation - I've been really impressed with the ease of use and the quality of live streaming, not to mention the immediate upload ability. Really, really cool.
Plus, you can autosyndicate to Facebook through both Qik and Youtube.
i use shozu: http://www.shozu.com/portal/tour.do?operation=where
when you take a pic or video, you can either choose to auto upload it or have a dialog come up asking you if you want to upload it to many sites...
Oh, yes it works. You use HTC Album to select whet to upload, tested .

Double-Twist adds ability to browse/sync android apps just like itunes?...

http://m.lifehacker.com/5552262/doubletwist-adds-android-market-search
Haven't tried it yet since I'm not by my computer but I saw this article and thought you guys might want to try it out
Seems like an great copy of itunes now for all us window users with the app browsing capability in addition to the music sync.
What do you guys think about it?
hmm like appbrain. Made me remember Google's mp3 store demo from GoogleIO (mp3s from the market).

Drobox Thumbnails

I love Dropbox, but I use it mainly for photos.
Unfortunately it seems like the droobox app doesn't show thumbnails for my photos which makes it very hard to navigate.
Anyone know a seamless solution to this (not including going through the Dropbox webssite)?
The gallery will show them also only after you downloaded. Maybe you have to wait for an update from Dropbox? I think the reason is that as long as you have not downloaded them Dropbox wants to preserve memory/space on your phone and only shows basic info. If the devs realize the tablet market is increasing with devices offering more memory and computing power they might offer a more "Explorer-like" UI.
Dropbox on iOS has 2 features that I know of Android version doesn't, one is the thumbnails and the other is password lock. both were working on the ipad. Why the hell are they different I have no clue.
While I do use dropbox for a lot of things. I prefer using Picasa if I want to manipulate my pictures. being able to sync easily from my desktop and having access to the pics in the gallery on the xoom is pretty awesome. That is just my opinion. I paid $5 to have 20gb for a year from google. I hated to have to move the files to dropbox since picasa will detect new photos or changes and sync them without me thinking about it.
I like them both but I find dropbox better for files and with Quick Office HD integration it is awesome for that.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I use picasa for my normal photos but for patient photos that I want to update on both my computer and xoom dropbox seems like a better option. Also allows me to organize those patient photos into folder albums...

[Q] Save Me from an iPad 2 - Anything like iMovie for the Xoom?

Per the subject line, I need to be able to start working on videos using my photos to put together stories. SO I need to be able to import my photos, show how long they should show before transitioning to the next one, and support a music track and an audio (voiceover) track. I have looked at what is available online, but the only thing that even sort of works on Android is Jaycut, and I'll be darned if I can figure out a way to get it to do two audio tracks.
Anything (!) out there, or do I need to accept that I have a use case that requires iOs rather than Android?
There is movie studio.

Umm... have you actually tried using that program? Not only is there 0 documentation (the Google web page for it literally just lists that it comes with Honeycomb), but it does not seem to support any of the items I need.
Of course if you've figured out how to make it work, PLEASE tell
I have used it moderately. And to be honest from what I can see, it can probably get by to your needs. But would need some work. Honestly if you really need all that, and know the ipad can do it, get the ipad.

Motorola Droid 3 Review

I finally have my review up. Enjoy
http://gadgetu.net/motorola-droid-3-review/#more
haven't watched it all yet, but I like how you're using two hands. That alone brings your review to a higher level than most video reviews.
*edit
you have USAA!
I like this "blur", its very close to stock android. The only thing I don't like are the 4 launcher (?) icons, and no way to add a 5th. If I could add a 5th one, so I can put my app drawer icon in the middle, I would be using the stock launcher. (if there's an option to add more icons I haven't found it)
The one thing I would add to a review, and I haven't seen any reviewer mention it yet, are some of the outstanding motorola apps that come with the phone. One being their gallery, and how it pulls your contacts, and then the pictures from your contacts facebook/flickr/picasa/etc. Very very nice feature. The actual gallery for content on your phone is kinda bad. You get one folder for everything on your device.
The other standout app is ZumoCast. It can stream movies and music off of your computer to your phone. You can also get your word/excel/etc documents as well. Kinda replaces Dropbox like that. It also kind of replaces the cloud players from amazon/google/apple. Seems to need some work though, as it doesn't always manage to connect to your computer.
Just watched it. Very nicely done. Assuming you were speaking extemporaneously, your knowledge level is quite respectable.
