For those who update to android 4.3 via Firmware-Over The Air (FOTA) and having sharp eyes may notice some bugs due to the leftovers of /data of android 4.2.
Here is a list of bugs I found :
- Sony Select takes forever to load
- Xperia with Facebook takes forever to sign in and load
- Ui layout issue when uninstalling app
The first two issue is rather easy to fix.
AFTER FOTA A IMMEDIATE FACTORY RESET IS COMPULSORY (internal storage need not wipe)
Press thanks if I helped you
Also Sony have completely knackered the Bluetooth stack... When I first got my z1 it was on 4.2 and would connect to my car audio system (navi 800 in a 2011 Vauxhall insignia) with no problem, allowing me to make and receive calls using the voice control on hands free.. After the update to 4.3, it connects but will not make or receive calls.. I contacted Sony who more or less said it was the audio systems fault! They obviously have done zero regression testing at all! I have tried the audio with a s3 which was running 4.3 upgrade with no problems.. If Samsung can make it work why can't Sony!
If anyone knows of a fix for this I will be extremely grateful!

Alan

Did you try the factory reset? Before that, I would delete the from phone from the car and the car from the phone, then re-pair. If that doesn't work, factory reset. If that doesn't work, reflash the 290 FTF.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.. I will try that today... What is the best way to reflash the ROM? Using the Sony companion or the flashtool thingy? Also, what ftf file do I need?
I also remember that there is a red button by the sim card slot to reset the phone? Or do I use the options in setting?
Sorry for all of the questions!
Regards,
Alan
Have tried the delete fone from car etc and repaired the devices and factory reset/ and also reflashed using the Sony companion but still does not work! The devices pair but I still cannot use the hands-free facility. WELL DONE SONY... NOT!!!!

This button is only to force the phone to turn completely off. It does not reset anything. Make sure that's what you tried for the reset.

The only proof is really to flash back to 4.2.2 and prove that's what did it. Sorry, there's not much else I can recommend here.
I installed a fresh with flashtool, wiped all data and still have that 3rd one with the UI layout when installing and uninstalling apps.

I use a bluetooth mouse with my Z1 and it's no longer functioning properly with the update. it stutters across the screen and is useless for anything really. Also movies seem to stop and restart or close. I've done a factory reset and it's still the same. I haven't tried my bluetooth keyboard yet. I use the mouse daily and hook up via hdmi so this is a major inconvenience. Anyone got a fix for this please?

Thanks for your reply. I did try that yes but it didn't work at all.
Last night I repaired my phone with PC Companion and now my bluetooth keyboard or mouse will not connect at all. It won't even see the keyboard.

Unfortunately, you may be up the same tree as @nalab1 and need to flash back to 4.2.2 to see if it's strictly a 4.3 issue. Otherwise, the only thing I can suggest is to cast a wider net and see if any other phones are having issues with Bluetooth and 4.3.
Hi xasbo,
Sorry for the noob question, but can you tell me how to downgrade my z1 to 4.2.2 and what ftf file I need. (Im on Vodafone in the UK)
Any help will be appreciated!

If you don't need root, just download the C6903 14.1.G.1.534 Vodafone UK FTF from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191
and use Flashtool to flash it.

Hi,
I have just had a look at the FlashTool Guide and saw this -
- Red: Firmware selector to selct the firmware you want to flash
- Blue: this will display the firmware content
- Green: Wipe options, you can choose to wipe certain things here
- Purple: Exclude options, this is to exclude content like kernel or baseband from flashing
- Orange: verification check, you don't need to edit this option
Are there any recomendations as to what to select in the Green/Purple/Orange sections?
Regards,
Alan
Yesterday I updated my Xperia T to Android 4.3 via Sony Companion Software. My phone is not rooted. Everything apperently went fine, but after the Update process I wanted to turn on my Wifi, but it did not work. I tried that from the quicksettings and form the settings directly. The button remain grey for a certain time and the turns back to off.
I turned off my phnone and on again, but a white triangle with a screw came and the phone remained in that status for more than 6 hours. After that it turned on, but the Wifi problem remains. Regarding Bluetooth, that works fine.
What I noticed is that when I check the phone info and the Wifii settings, no MAC Adress is listed there for Wifi. I don't think its a hardware problem, because everything was fine before updating.
What should I do? I am afraid to turn my phone off bcause it could go back to the white triangle remaining for several hours in that state. I dont think a factory reset would help, because there seems to be an update problem and I would like to rather not loose all my settings.
Any help would be very appreciated, because I urgently need wifi in my university.......

The ftf file is the stock Rom, you can find it here on xda. Flashtool also. Flashtool only works if you have windows xp, vista 7 or 8. Not on 8.1. Repairing it using pcc should be easier though

Tnx again. Regarding stoch Rom, I think I am a newbie in that field. I will try to repair via PCC. I have sony bridge for Mac or a Windows PC with Windows 8.1. Which one would you prefer? I updated to Android 4.3 on a Windows 8.1 PC. Do you think that might be a reason, why there is an issue with the update process or something went wrong?
Windows 8.1 works with one of the updates the launched not so long ago

Unfortunately, reparing it with PCC did not help and I am quite desperate. I bought the phone last year as a used one. I am quite a newbie in this field, but could it be, that the rom installed is an altered one and a normal update via PPC leads to this Wifi problem? Normally that should not be the case, but how can I find that out what is causing the problem and what must I do to overcome this drama of mine. I whish I didn't perform that update, because everything wAs working fine before.....

ok what u need to do is root your phone first . they are some threads that show u how to do it i recommed after rooting jus use this rom
httphttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647459
to root unable debug mode in settings/developer
and unknown sources in settings/security .. first u will have to go back to 4.1.2 to root ur phone and then follow the above instructions
Look at these threads, it can help a lot:

A factory reset would definitely work. You don't know how many times I've seen people (even with different phones) have problems like these because they change their Android version and/or flash different ROMs without wiping their partitions, i.e., doing at least a Factory Reset. If you were rooted you could try deleting the "wpa_supplicant.conf" file in /data/misc/wifi. The problem is, since you're already on 4.3, there is no sure way to root 4.3 unless your bootloader is unlocked. So unless you find out a way to backup your data/settings, you're either going to lose it all when doing a Factory Reset, or downgrading to 4.1.2 (to root), or even flashing a stock 4.3 FTF, because I'm sure your problem is that you haven't wiped.
Hi
Purchased a rooted chromecast. and need some help in setting it up. Would plugging in and setting it up on my tv clear the root? There was a website link on XDA that could check the firmware but when I tried to navigate to that link it turned out to be invalid.
Any advice on setting up a rooted chromecast? Should I follow a different set of steps?
Thanks in advance
Hi dalkiel,
Does this boot with the Team Eureka Logo? (Or Pwncast if an old root).
If it does then you are free to set it up as needed, these roms remove the update logic so the device is safe to use as you would a normal device (set up, reset user data, etc).
Hi
Thanks for your reply i plugged it into the tv (samsung smart tv) and nothing popped up so i figured I need to start with the PC first. Downloaded the chromecast setup files and ran set up. It showed me a code and wanted to verify if thats what I saw n the tv? I didnt want to proceed further without clarifying in case i wipe out the root. There was no boot screen with Eureka or pwncast when plugged into the tv or PC.
Further advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You won't wipe out root...All you are really dong is setting up WiFi Access in a setup and changing the name of the device on the network.

You should see a Team Eureka logo on boot, but depending on your TV you might have to let it boot completely then reboot it again to see it (TV input detect sometimes takes too long to "lock on" to the input).

Hi, I've installed LineageOs 14.1 ROM along with stock gapps on my k3 note. Everything works fine got no issues except this video resolution thing in youtube app. Sometimes the video gets automatically zooms in and one is unable to see the whole video on screen but only a part of it. The problem is not limited to only one video as I've witnessed it in several other videos while playing them online. Offline video player works totally fine. Please see if there is any fix for this issue.
I'm attaching a few screenshots for you to better understand this problem.

In the previous build of lineage, the hotspot issue still has not fixed. I've to configure hotspot fresh everytime if I want to connect it to my PC or other device otherwise it just shows connecting and never connects. Is there any specific fix for that?

Hi guys, I've had a problem for some time now and it's driving me nuts.
Basically some apps just lose internet connection after some time. Facebook and spotify are the most obvious.
In Facebook I can see the news feed but if try to read comment or reply it gives me an error. If I log out of the app I can't log in as it says I have no connection. If I open Facebook via Chrome I have no problem whatsoever.
Spotify is also giving me problem. If I search something I get the no connection error. But if I open a Playlist that was recently played I can open it with no problems..
Everytime a new firmware comes I update it, it works well for some days and then I start having these problems again..

Yup, reflashing the FW worked... I really do not understand what is going on. Let's see how long it will last this time.
OK so after re rooting the phone and installing all apps via titanium I'm getting that problem again.
If a reflash the fw again it works and then I reroot and back to the same problem again.
Of note I'm using xperifix with magisk 17.1 and I'm on the latest fw customized latam. I really don't know what to do but this is enfuriating..
