Issue with updating to CM12
So I used to have my droid bionic in official CM11 and i had everything set up.
On weekly basis, CM would tell me that there is a new update and I should update to that.
I never backed up my stuff (never needed to) and I clicked on update to the newest rom for CM
I never checked its number and just hit update.
phone goes into limbo mode and I realize its cause its updating to CM12.
I still had Safestrap 3.65 and looking at some threads, i updated to 3.75 and tried again
Still nothing. so whenever I boot into rom-slot-1, it just shows blank screen.
I can install other roms and it will work fine
but I want the official cm that i had, the unofficial ones arent as battery conserving as CM.
can someone help me install cm11 or cm12?
Edit: I got CM11 to work by downgrading to stable version 10.2 and upgrading.
The phone still doesnt want to update to cm12

You can't upgrade to cm12 it must be done with a fresh install to a clean slot. I restored my apps with titanium backup and all went well. Good luck.

Originally, it failed because I tried to do an upgrade.
I had to wipe my device cause there was no other way to go back.
Now when I do clean install, it still fails.
(clean install for cm 11 fails for me as well, only thing that works is cm10 and upgrading to cm11 from there.)

cm12 droid bionic [targa]
Ive been flashing roms for years, never usually input, just wait and get better ones, before cm12 i was using cm11 with jbx kernel and i thought it was impressive, I managed to flash jbx kernel and had it stable for a hour, then i cant tell you what happened but it destablized, but i managed to run some benchmarks to see what was on the inside of lollipop...........

cm12 lollipop 1.3 ghz
cm11 1.3ghz
is this runtime from use of selinux, im having a hard time understanding where this is coming from.....
im not sure why the images arnt loading, but if you copy the url and paste it they do...................
but im having the same issues as everyone else, stock kernel, gitchy, it seems slow at randomly accessing rom drive, slow switching apps, but these benchmarks are very promising!
keep up the awesome work guys!

Is a new clean slot (new safestrap 3.75) enough for CM12? Previous rom 4.4.4 PACman RC1.
Is an advanced wipe needed? If so which options?

Ummm, well I don't remember the version numbers, but use the newest safestrap with selinux support. I do recommend A wipe cause u never know if it will boot loop, you can try it if you want, that's kinda the point of safestrap, and I dunno what a 4.4 pacman is but I recommend and only use cm , hope this helped...

A year or 2 ago I had a guy flash\root my bionic to 3g to work on Page plus after verizon took my unlimited data away.
This week I ordered a new 4G lte SIM card and added a 5.0.2 Lollipop ROM (CM 12- 2/19) to the phone.
I called PP and asked them to swap out my SIM so that I could start using 4G LTE again on their plans.
Now my phone works and I can change settings but...
In 4.1.2 Jellybean, I can see the 4G LTE icon but cannot use cellur service or data - no phone call.(No bars)
On 5.0.2 Lollipop CM 12 ROM I can only see 4 bars or service strength but no 4G LTE icon.
No Data or phone call capability...
The old Verizon SIM card doesn't work anymore after activation now and so neither of my SIM cards are either working or the wrong setting is in the phone somewhere.
PP is of no help\use.
Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to get this thing working again?
Thanks in advance.

Are you saying you managed to flash JBX on CM12?

Invisible cursor.
Attaching a mouse via lapdock or usb results in an invisible mouse cursor. The mouse functions, and can click on anything, but the cursor itself is invisible. While investigating the problem, I think I determined that it was made invisible in CM12 as a workaround for spens for Galaxy Notes. I tried changing the cursor in framework_res.apk but couldn't get it to work.
Any workarounds I could try or could it be fixed in the rom?
Thanks.

Build 8.9 won't import contacts from SIM
As title says. It boots and works great, but I can't import my contacts from my SIM card. I put the card back in my old phone, and it reads it just fine. Not sure if the stock ROM for the HD was able to do it since I flashed the phone as soon as I got it going.
It's a great ROM otherwise, though. Love the simplicity.
Great rom
Great ROM! Thanks!
Not the most smooth, but so far is working good. I was having serious delays when trying to turn de screen on, or on incoming calls. I don't know if there is a cause-effect, but after i installed greenify, the delay is shorter.
It is a great ROM. I still can't post in the main thread because I'm a newb, but I wanted to post a screenshot of what a combo of SlimKat and Werewolf kernel can do.
This is SlimKat 8.9 and Werewolf 009.
Links to each one if you're a newb like me.
Kernel
ROM
What can they do?

As a comparison, with the stock 4.1.3 ROM from LG and stock kernel, it was getting 14000-15000, so that's quite a difference. Battery life is also loads better especially when asleep.
Still would like to know why it can't read my SIM contacts. I hope it sees the SIM card. I haven't tried any calls or data on the phone since flashing it. Have to wait and see.
I'm having issues with the camera too. It's not just the still camera either. The video camera lags sometimes too. Just stops updating the screen and then picks up again later. Also the display breaks up when changing orientation in camera mode.
Just tried 8.8 and 8.6.1, and both have the issues. Not sure how to proceed. Is there a version that doesn't have camera issues? Not sure how this went several versions without getting noticed. It's painfully obvious that there's a problem. Just snapping a photo lags like crazy, and the video camera issue punches you in the face.

4. cwm updated using rom manager
But when I went to boot recovery I got some .image error message... Thanks to kdz flashing and LG flashtool that I got my phone back and some how upgraded to 4.1.2 as it was 4.0.3 before ..
So my request is can someone please post the exact procedure detailed in step by step so that a beginner like me can understands well. Or if you can provide a kdz file that is having OS version 4.4.X..

Hey Folks,
Just thought I'd share my experience with CM12 for our beloved MB886. It was nothing short of a disaster. It keep crashing on me when I'd push it. Took 3 attempts to install a large app like Facebook. My first attempt had me do as CM suggests by migrating from CM11 to CM12. I installed both the ROM and GAPPS. Any app not compatible with Lollipop didn't show or work crash. I got a lot of stopped working errors.
So, it tried a factory wipe and installed again, same result. Installing new apps constantly caused it to crash for me. I upgraded from the 2/22 nightly to the 2/23 version same result. One last ditch effort using today's 2/24 fare no better.
Some other things I noticed:
1. Camera no longer allows you to save direct to your SD card (bummer given the space challenges we have with this device)
2. There's a move to SD card function, though I couldn't find where it was being stored, however it does show space on the SD card is being used when you look at storage in the settings. Also home screen icons to SD apps are lost on reboot. You're better off with Link2SD which saves the icons on your home screen. Again, another useful feature given the small memory we have.
3. Music player keeps crashing
4. Performance overall was faster till I'd get going then it'd crawl, freeze, and reboot on me
For now I reverted back to CM12 M12 and will make another attempt at Lollipop down the road. Hopefully there will be some M-Releases by then.
Cheers.
Good review.

It should be noted that the experience of one user does not necessarily reflect the experience of all users. While some users may experience disasterous results, others do not.

This might sound like a really silly question but it's directed at people who've successfully installed this on their VS980.
Is there an option for 'USB tethering' in this version (The option that allows you to tether your phone's wifi connection to the PC through a usb cable). I've seen it in pretty much every other android device but the verizon G2 only allows me to tether my data connection and not a WiFi connection. Could anyone let me know please ?

I would retry again, the 2nd update took much longer to install than the 1st one. Then it had to optimize 177 some odd apps which took awhile as well.

[WIP][2016.03.14] Android N Preview - v2.70 [CLOSED]

All code changes needed for N Preview have been rolled into the BETA releases starting v2.71 BETA. This thread is now closed. If a new N Preview release comes out, or N Final is released, this thread may be re-opened. For now, proceed to the BETA thread!
OLD CONTENT
This thread is dedicated to SuperSU on N Preview. With the first few releases I'm not merging it directly with the BETA branch, as there have been some invasive changes under the hood regarding SELinux handling, and there should be a little bit more testing done before going there. Still, I expect this to be done within the next week or two.
I've only had the chance to test on the 5X so far, so there is some risk involved. If you're not comfortable reflashing everything due to bootloops, crashes, etc, wait for others to play the guinea pig.
RC-SuperSU-v2.70-20160314191951.zip
As this hasn't been merged with the BETA branch yet, I'm not updating the main CF-Auto-Root distribution either. But as TWRP isn't working yet on all N Preview devices either, attached are test CFAR versions.
Note that you are also welcome to flash this SuperSU version on pre-N firmwares, and report back if everything still works as expected.
If you have tried other methods of rooting, you need to at least flash back your stock boot.img before flashing SuperSU.
Depending on how much you have played around, reflashing /system may also be a wise move.
If you came from SuperSU v2.69, you need to reflash via TWRP or CFAR. Installing just the APK and updating binaries will not fix all the issues!

Thank you @Chainfire! Does this root method reside in the System Partition, or is it Systemless. Also, do we need to type in adb commands in TWRP before installing to force Systemless installation?
Thank you again:laugh:
Hey Chainfire!
Just a few question again from one of your supporters
Is it possible to receive OTA's after rooting N with your method? Or is their another way (like for example via your app "Flashfire")?
And can you flash new preview builds over a rooted build?
Thank you in advance

Android N OTA`s - it`s full system images, so it doesn't matter your device rooted or not.

[HOW TO] Get Ting LTE or Other MVNO Data Working on CM13 ROMS

Ok so the issue of Ting LTE not working with CM13 ROMS has be bothering me for sometime now but this past weekend I finally found a fix for it.
Just as a side note the ROM I used with this fix was, OctOs Oct-MM R2 but in theory it should work with all CM13 ROMS for the L720. Also the tool I used is NOT MY WORK! It is the work of xda user, Deega and Buzbe2. I take no credit.
This fix requires the MVNO Slayer tool by Deega and Buzbe2 to work.

These are the exact steps I took to flash the ROM and get data up and running.
1. Flash the CM13 ROM in twrp. (May work with CWM but i have not tested)
2. Without rebooting flash Gapps.
3. Reboot the device.
4. Once the device boots set up the device and wait for it to connect the cell tower. At this time you will not have data of any kind.
5. Reboot to recovery once more and flash MVNO Slayer. You must flash Buzbez2's version if you want Ting LTE.
6. Select the MVNO you wish and reboot.
7. Enjoy fully working LTE.

Worked for me, thanks!
I started at step 5 because I have been using CM13 for a few days already. My cellular network said “Sprint” and I could make and receive calls and texts but did not have LTE. Then I did steps 5 and 6 in this post and now my cellular network says “Ting” and LTE is working.

Just out of curiosity,
Will this work with boost mobile phones? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question but I am new to all of this and started learning about ROMs last December.
Also will this work with Resurrection Remix 7.1 rom? I dont really know if it is CM13 or not?

Welcome to the world of Android. Yes this should work with Boot Mobile and in theory it will work on Resurrection Remix even though it's not cm 13 but I've not personally tested it

Could you please test it?!? I am actually testing it with Octo-N and it doesn't seem to be working. Thank you in advance
I just installed this for OctO-N on my sph720t. In SIM status it still says Sprint. I am a Ting user. Should I clear the cache or dalvik before installing the MVNOBuzbee zip?
How do you chose your mvno in step 6? Im still new to android modding

When you begin the installation a pop up on TWRP will appear and give you multiple options of cellular company towers and when you pick it, it will continue the installation of MVNO.

That's weird when I did that no pop up popped up. I'll make sure TWRP is up to date and try again.

This might be something bigger than just this file too. I remember the aroma version of Gapps not working for me, and that uses a gui to install the individual apps

Try also getting the latest gapps because I tried a new ROM and it wouldn't work on my older gapps till I updated.
trying to install mvno slavyer made twrp freeze. It then rebooted into my custom rom without showing a menu. According to this some of the new TWRPs have issues with the aroma installer, I'll try an old one https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...hable-lte-fix-moto-e-6-x-boost-t3290719/page6
What phone and ROM are you trying to do and what android version u gonna use?
THANK YOU
Alright so I found out the issue and fixed it. My current version of TWRP didn't work with aroma installers. I regressed to version 3.0, did the steps, and now it works. Thanks man, I've been working on this for like a week

I just solved this but since you're curious
SM - G900P (Samsung Galaxy S5)
They'll both be on nougat
Resurrection Remix or Cyanogen 14.1, gonna go install the latter and see how it fares (I know there's Lineage now but last I checked there were only nightly builds for my phone, not stable)
Oh in that case, I want to suggest a ROM that I'm using. It is amazing and runs better but RR has amazing customization unlike JDCteam LineageOS. But it is highly optimized.
Yeah I'm currently using Lineage, had too many issues with RR. However, one issue im still having is the inability to send text messages. Everything else works, but I just can't send them. I've been looking for other fixes, but I can't find any specifically for ting. Have you guys had any luck?
