yes, but you need to use a custom rom that added it in..

Is there a way to do it without a custom rom and without rooting?

Here are my 2 cents on clearing recents.
Recents *used* to be designed so it showed all *cached* apps. If you cleared an individual app, it cleared it from cache. Next time you open that app, it takes more CPU cycles to open it that it would if cached. It was always fine to clear apps you seldom use, however, if you regularly cleared all apps from recents, including apps you use often, you're throwing battery life out of the window - because each time you open an app, you're using more CPU, which uses more power, which uses more battery.
The problem since Lollipop, is that recents not only contains cached apps, it also contains "recent" apps that are not cached. It gets messy so more people want to clear them. Clearing all still has the same negative batter life affects.... My ideal solution with a custom rom, would be to limit those recent apps to cached only apps. Then less people would be bothered about clearing them all the time.

[Q] Google Apps 'Syncing'

Hi All,
Got rooted and Market installed and working the only thing I'm missing its seems is some of the google services, namely Gmail, Gmusic and Chrome
Gmail - installs, says sync is not enabled and crashes
Gmusic - installs and works perfectly with local music, knows about my google account, but will not show any of he music in the cloud
Chrome - installs (sideload) and works fine but will not sync up and show other browsers tabs etc.
Is there some google 'sync' service I'm missing?
Stuff I've installed for google is;
GoogleLoginService.apk
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
Many thanks
From what I understand you have to install the apps again after the framework if you didn't do it in that order.

Thanks, I tried that last night - same thing.
Are there different versions of the framework floating about I wonder?
Has no one else seen this issue?

Yeah, and the GoogleLoginService too. I put them all into the /system/app. Unfortunately i ended up returning it to amazon today. The price point on the device is good. But it seemed very unpolished. Bluetooth headset would disconnect after 15 minutes of watching a movie, but stayed connected fine when listening to music. Web browsing was very slow. If i scrolled the page It would just be white and i'd have to wait 1-2 seconds for silk to render the page. Also my unit had some very bad light bleed, see image below. Not to mention i could never find the buttons (power/volume) I think i'm going to pay a little more and get a nexus, it's probably worth the extra money.

CacheUpdateService wakelock

Has anyone noticed this wakelock in Better Battery Stats or any other battery stats app? For the past day or so, this has been keeping my phone from deep sleep continuously and I've never seen it before. I just wiped cache & dalvik to see if it persists.
Yes I got it for the first time yesterday. Did a force stop on the google frame work and it stopped. Seems like it came with the latest gooogle play services. I hope they fix it soon. Has not come back so far.

I have seen this dreaded wakelock and found no good solution....It comes and goes away on its own (I had tried cache and dalvik)
Back when I had root, I also tried to disable this service using a root app called DisableService. Though that seemed to have some other side effects, so I gave up....Now I am on 4.4 and Wakelock detector does not work with Kitkat, so I am not even able to check if these are happening anymore...Ignorance is bliss

So you haven't noticed any significant battery drain from it?

Yes, no significant drain..However, it would still annoy me seeing this one in Wakelock detector/ betterbatterystats that too for hours.....Its a service contained in Google Play services which is closed source, so can't even find out for sure what this exactly does

I wiped cached and that wakelock seems to be gone. *knock on wood*

OK Google detection options grayed out (sometimes)

On every rom I've tried so far, the OK Google voice command sometimes works from the lock screen, sometimes not. When I go to check the settings for voice control, the"Always on" and "Personal results" are grayed out and obviously I can't use OK Google from the lock screen. But then sometime later the options are back and no longer grayed out. It works when it wants to and I have no control over it.
Is this a known bug? Or is there some custom rom setting that's interfering with voice detection? Very strange.
I thought it depended on whether the device was charging or not

No it doesn't. The Nexus 6 has the always listening feature like the Moto X. It's just weird that's been broken on 3 different roms.

Anyone have an issue where the 1st time you initiate the okay Google command that it brings up an unsuccessful web search? I have to initiate it a second time and it works. If I uninstall the Google search update everything works fine. Only when I update it do I run into this issue.
try wiggling these toggles? might help?

Actually yes, I have done that. But it's only a temporary fix. I don't see why, after wiping my device 3 times, and it still keeps happening. When I switch roms, I make sure to do a complete wipe from twrp (factory reset, then advanced and hand select wipes except internal storage, then wipe cache and dalvik before reboot into new rom) I don't understand why 3 different roms have the same issue.
At this point, I'm so happy with Candy rom that I can overlook this issue, but it's just nice if everything would work as intended.

Incorrect (broken) text on Account Sync Page

For some reason, the text on my account sync page now looks like this. I'm not sure what caused this.
I'm running the latest stock ROM 5.1 , system version 23.16.3 RETEUALL, build number LPE23.32-25.3
Phone version: XT1092
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
Things that I've already tried:
1. Clearing cache partition.
2. Changing font size.
3. I use Nova Launcher, tried to change to Google Launcher. Still not fixed.
Try changing from military time back to 12?
I'm grasping at straws too lol.
Do you have the toggles to the right? I notice mine is on two lines rather than just one.
Just to confirm:
This is settings then accounts then Google then click the last sync time to see that screen.

Yes, that settings. I don't have toggles to the right because I use manual sync, I've disabled the "Auto-sync data" checkbox.
If you don't mind, can you try to disable your auto-sync and see whether your text is also on one line?
Previously my text was on two lines even when I disabled the auto-sync.
Thanks.
With it turned off I still have everything on two lines. But I have an xt1095 so maybe there is something different
What version of google do you have? I know it's old from the icon in the picture. Have you tried updating the google app?

Just updated it today, now it's version 5.4.28.19.arm with the new icon.
The problem is still there. And I've checked other account like Twitter and Whatsapp, the text is also on one line.
It seems this problem is caused by latest OTA. Other user with XT1092 also has the same problem.

I'm on Tmobile. Don't have that screen. So maybe it's in the settings somewhere of your carrier?
Not on my Sprint variant.
Anyone has this problem or can suggest something? Anything? It's killing me.

You could start by providing more detailed information. What carrier? What third party apps do you have that relate to contacts/phone?
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
My phone is Verizon but I use it with T-Mobile. I've looked up all the apps that has access to my contacts and draw over apps and didn't find anything unusual.
I use truecaller but that one has it's own notification.
The picture I attached in my first post shows what is really bothering me
I have Verizon and don't get this
Well finally after a lot of research and tracking apps I finally found what app it is. It's call (efing) reminder app. That is a part of bixby I guess.
Flashlight
Plagued me for 2 weeks and removed apps one by one. As others suspected, it was a flashlight app. It's gone now. App has an icon that several apps use, so I don't remember precisely which one. Not going to reinstall one to be sure. Light House Inc has this icon.
Its App Backup and restore. Uninstall that and the annoying after phone call popups are gone
Had same problem. After uninstalling app backup and restore, everything fine.
I also had same problem but solved it by uninstalling "Bestie".
I also double checked it again after installing and uninstalling again.
Hope it helps.
App backup & restore fix
Hey everybody. I came across this thread when I was trying to fix this issue on my phone. I saw that nopers said if you uninstall the app it will go away which I'm sure would definitely work. I wanted to keep the app tho so this is what I did:
Settings>Applications>App backup and restore>Permissions>slide phone and SMS off
This worked for me on Samsung Galaxy S7 so hope that helps anyone looking for a solution.
