Looking for clean 4.4.2 RW backup or SBF - Moto X Q&A

Does anybody here have a link to a clean and unrooted 4.4.2 backup or the RW 4.4.2 SBF for the Moto X?
I'm trying to gather all the files I need to prep for the coming 4.4.4 and my thumb drive with all my clean files corrupted.

There are a few sites that host the Stock SBF files. I have them listed in -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-tip-web-sites-official-leaked-roms-t2923347

Thanks! It seems motofirmware.com has the file listed but is not able to locate it.
http://sbf.droid-developers.org has been down for quite some time. This was my usual hunting ground and I know that they had the files I needed until they had multiple hard drive failures.
Filefactory did the trick though.

Removed Dialer (I know...) No data, please assist.

So upon removing some of the bloat on my Droid 3, I broke mms and contacts. I successfully installed AOSP 2.3.5 mms so I thought I'd try to install stock contacts. I ended up backing up BlurPhone and BlurContacts and then deleting them and replacing them with the AOSP .apks... Now I have no data, and I can't restore the backups I made. I even pulled BlurPhone and BlurContacts from the Droid 3 system dump and pushed them to /system/app to no avail. Any ideas how to unbork my phone? Thanks.

Factory Reset perhaps? Honestly, I'm a bit confused why you would do that to your device when we don't even have an SBF to restore to. Do you want an expensive new paper weight?
I had a temporary lapse of intelligence. I'm at work right now but I will attempt to push all system files back to the phone and do a restore. If that doesn't work, I've heard of people successfully flashing an Atrix SBF so I'll try that next. IF neither of those work, I'll beg Verizon to exchange it or I make an insurance claim, lol.
Yep I did the same thing. This could help, its a backup of the entire /system/app folder
media fire ...../?xntww3x2h2xow24
I can't figure out what I'm supposed to push back there to get functionality back. I know you have to repair perms after pushing.

I believe what you may have heard about was people flashing the Atrix preinstall partition in an effort to find a root exploit (which ultimately turned out to be a dead end). This is entirely different from flashing an Atrix SBF. If you attempt to do this, you're almost certain to brick your phone.

That is what i meant, the root.img. Sleepy, sorry.
Still no headway with this thing... might be stopping by Verizon tomorrow.
First off, did you push the odex files for those 2 apks as well? I don't know the significance of them, but if they were in the system dump, it's probably a good idea to put them in the /system/app directory.
Second, did you fix the permissions and owner of the files you pushed?

Yes and yes.
...Huh. Well, I'm not entirely sure what to do then (I've never dealt with the dialer). My best advice would be to play dumb when you go exchange it.
Sorry!
For me I think I'm going to just leave it like it is until the first custom ROM appears.
There are some bloatware that is ok to remove. I removed most of the ones that you can just re-download from the Market like: NFLMobile, ZumoCast, GuidedTours, Slackerradio, Citrix, BlockBuster, and MyVerizon. I did not touch a lot of the main VZW apps that they put on out of fear of some other part of android being tied to them. But random apps like the BlockBuster and SlackerRadio are fine to remove.
Why not just install a 3rd party dialer such as GoDialer or something until we get an sbf?

Someone flash this and try fastboot right away, don't have bunches of people jumping on this and then realize afterwards that you're off the path.

It downloads to the /cache directory on the root not in any folder. There will be 2 files, the update itself and a .crc file with the same name. You must be rooted to access the /cache directory with a file explorer and remember to select to run it later after downloading. The /cache directory is always wiped by the update after it flashes, so you must get the file first before allowing it to run or it will be deleted.
It does not give the option to install later. I can see it in /cache while it is downloading but when it is done it tries to install and says "could not validate package" then the file disappears from /cache.

From what I read on Droid Hive, it's a useless file - an engineering build that no one can use or install.
This is an Engineering Build of .902. This file is of no use to anyone unless they are running pure stock 902.
The way the file is named and signed this is just a testing version.
I FXZ'd to .902, rooted using Motofail, installed cheesecakev2.apk, downloading it now. It does say "GB to ICS" and "Targa"..why would they name it that if it was really just a maintenance build?
I'll let you know if I can get it installed automatically, stock recovery, rsd lite, or otherwise.
Photo attached for anyone curious.
Or motoflashboot.
I'm really anxious to see how this pans out. I need to get to bed instead of watching this thread and prepping to fxz to 902

OTA upgrade fails because of missing (or wrong) apk / bloatware / crapware

I must have been overly zealous in removing bloatware/crapware.
I tried installing the version from the store, but that failed.
Where can I download the original apk files so the OTA upgrade succeeds?
Thank you.
You can download the sbf for the gingerbread build then install a couple programs, osfmount and ext2fsd. Mount the system.img file and pull whatever apks you may need, then push them back to the phone. Don't try installing the updates crapware applications to replace the original system installations, you need the original apks in order for everything to work.

You can also just download the ICS fastboot files and flash those as it doesn't do a check against what is on the phone, it just puts what is supposed to be on the phone...ie....ICS and all the files of a stock system.

This.. Just flash the ICS fastboot files directly, much easier.
Files: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/cdma_maserati/list.php

Do not use one of the two ROMs linked in the instructions thread, use the 6.16.217 ROM from my first link.
Common question,
If one applies the fastboot directly from gingerbread, will they lose their data?

I don't know. I know fastbooting GB .219 over a configured/apps downloaded-installed over GB .219 doesn't wipe data.
However....EVERYONE should Factory Reset after going to ICS. An OS update...done in place....from 2.x.x to 4.x.x......it does work but is more prone to issues than one that is "RESET" and configured from the start.
Backup your data, restore that to the apps after setting the phone up and re-installing the apps from the Market. You'd also be amazed at the number of apps you find that you don't re-install
I had to flash back to stock .219. Didn't do anything after that but went straight to the OTA update and it worked perfectly. didn't do a reset, although I guess I should back up and do it.

[ROM] Stock ROM version 4.10.708.1 CL344680 (901S) [4.4.2]

At last we have the 4.10.708.1 Sense 6.0 update for the HK version.
Unfortunately, this release appears to have some problems with the gallery and blinkfeed apps. For the best results, I recommend installing the previous version (3.06, linked below in this post) and applying the OTA update yourself.
Without further ado, here are the links!
Download link:
http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/dlxpul_stock_4.10.708.1_CL344680_release-keys.zip (MD5)
If you are S-ON, after installing the ROM, you also have to unpack boot.img from the zip and flash it using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Verified to install without a problem on an S-OFF phone using the recovery built by @kairi_zeroblade in this thread.
For each of the available OTA updates, you can also find the actual OTA package, the firmware included within and the stock recovery for that version. If you want to flash the whole firmware package (including recovery, radio, kernel/boot and many other things), just grab the appropriate firmware.zip, rename it to PO68IMG.zip, put it into the root of your external SD card and reboot your phone into the bootloader – the update will be applied automatically.
URL: http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/OTA/
Old versions below.
Here's the 3.06.708.3 KitKat 4.4.2 update.
Before installing, take a moment to read this. This update introduces extended filesystem capability flags and SELinux labels. The installer in this ZIP tries to set them in the same way as the OTA update does, but in TWRP this fails, because the recovery doesn't have support for these kinds of metadata. However, setting the medatada is done as the last step, so even if it fails and the installation aborts, the ROM is still installed properly, just without this extra bit.
I repeat:
Read the installer messages. If it says "Done!" and fails afterwards, the installation is complete. If it fails before printing the message "Done!", then the installation is not OK.
The latest CWM Touch should give the best results, although I haven't tried installing it through CWM.
If you are S-ON, after installing the ROM, you also have to unpack boot.img from the zip and flash it using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Download link:
http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/dlxpul_stock_3.06.708.3_CL315079_release-keys_SELinux.zip (MD5)
@Zarboz also made a ZIP of this version of the stock ROM, I'm told it contains some flavor of Superuser preinstalled:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8I81hbg3bIwOWNlZHBMUy1tanc/edit?usp=sharing
-----------------------
Just before Christmas we have a new stock ROM with Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5 available. Same as with previous version, the installer contains all preload apps, in addition, it also contains the HTC Notes app, otherwise it leaves /data as it is, so in case something does not work, remember to wipe data before installing.
Download link:
http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/dlxpul_signed_stock_2.21.708.1_CL288207_release-keys.zip (MD5)
-----------------------
This is an image of the stock ROM after installing the 1.23.708.3 OTA update. The installer also contains all preload applications (Flashlight, Calculator, PDF viewer and others). Other than installing / updating all preload apps, the package doesn't touch /data in any other way. If you need to wipe your data partition, do it before installing this ROM, otherwise you'll wipe your freshly-installed preload applications. (Note that some of them have been updated in the OTA, which means they differ from the APKs I posted separately.) Does not contain the Notes OTA update, it should ask after first boot.
Here's the download link:
http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/dlxpul_signed_stock_1.23.708.3_CL241753_release-keys.zip (MD5)
-----------------------
Made from a dump taken from my 901S just after unlocking the bootloader, pure preinstalled stock ROM, no root, no mods of any kind. Only contains /system and kernel+initrd, doesn't touch /data, /cache or anything else. If you want a clean state, wipe your phone before or after installing.
Download:
http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/dlxpul_signed_stock_1.11.708.1_CL215607_release-keys.zip (MD5 here)
The ROM is also available as a TWRP backup:
http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/stock-901s-twrp-backup.tar (MD5 here)
For those interested, I also made a backup of the original internal storage ("sdcard") before unlocking which is available here (MD5). It should be pretty close to the original state, though I did run a few apps there to get a feeling of the device.
Last but not least, there were certain applications preinstalled in the /data partition which gets erased completely when unlocking. I managed to find out which ones they were and back up their APKs. The APKs are located at http://heh.sk/~johnny64/901S/preload/. To install them, create the directory /data/preload on your device and push the APKs in there using adb or something. The apps should appear after a reboot. Most of them are probably not very interesting (since they are for news from the HK area), I was mostly interested in the calculator, flashlight and PDF viewer, but I backed them all up anyway, so suit yourselves.

Well, the file is a tar archive. You have to extract it into TWRP/BACKUPS/<your phone's serial number>. The backup itself consists of multiple files, I just made a single archive for easier downloading.

I don't really understand your question, but I'll try again and slower this time. (-;
First, extract the archive on your phone, any decent file manager app should be able to do that. You'll notice the archive contains one directory named 2013-08-22--21-11-59. This directory contains a bunch of files.
Next, look up your phone's serial number in settings -> about -> phone identity. Navigate into TWRP/BACKUPS on your SD card and check if there's a directory with the same name as your serial number. If there's no such directory, create it.
Finally, move the 2013-08-22--21-11-59 directory into the one you just created.

It is hosted on a Raspberry Pi sitting on a shelf in my campus room. It should have 100 mbit connectivity. I noticed in the HTTP server logs that a lot of people are using downloaders which open more than 20 connections in parallel, some go even as high as 50. Since it is a really weak machine, I limited it to 5 parallel connections. If you're trying to download with such a tool, try to crank it down a little bit.

[MoFo IMG] AT&T XT1097 - 5.1 XT1095 rooted image with Xposed and Adaway

For anyone with an AT&T XT1097 who wants to try using MoFo to flash an XT1095 image to their device,
@dustin_b was kind enough to pull an ext4 image from his XT1095 that has Xposed and Adaway in it. He also debloated some Google apps that he doesn't use (I am not sure which ones). If the Google apps reside on the /system partition, they won't be able to be added via the playstore since you can't write to /system but they could be added back to the image if someone knows how to use linux to do it. And since the host files that Adaway uses are on /system, you won't be able to update those unless someone can put a symlink in the image to point to a folder on /data. But Adaway will still work; it's just that you won't be able to update the host files. And I don't think this image has the build.prop file modified to enable tether, which again could be done if someone knows how to do it in linux.
If you are interested in flashing this image, you should first be on rooted XT1097 5.1 as found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...ofo-img-5-1-rooted-att-xt1097-tether-t3162497
Then you would delete the contents of the /data/dalvik-cache and /cache folders using a root browser such as ES file explorer with root enabled, boot into bootloader mode and use MoFo to flash the 5.1 XT1095 image with Xposed and Adaway found here:
https://mega.co.nz/#!4hkwXLSZ!Dc2KvTQvKymLCwaT9ArTZ4qFxP0pm3-Do96lH0V17sg
MD5 of the unzipped files is 5B4A151236E3FACD3537281571D98700
Then boot directly into system.
I have an XT1096 (Verizon) and have flashed XT1095 images before to my device using MoFo. They are the same size as the XT1096 images so they flash. Obviously since I have a CDMA device with different radio hardware, my device won't work as a phone when I run an XT1095 image. However, since the XT1097 and the XT1095 are both GSM only devices and both run on AT&T fine, you should be able to run an XT1095 system image on the AT&T XT1097 without issue. If not, you could simply use MoFo to flash back to the XT1097 5.1 system image.
Can anyone who has flashed this determine if tether is enabled plz? If not, I should have time tomorrow to test.
Just started playing with this image. The only Google app I can see missing is Wallet from priv-app. Does not include tethering fix by default. Once I get this how I like it I'll flash it and edit how it went.

Yeah the only Google apps I got rid of were things like Google Play games, newsstand, etc. All the important ones are still there except maybe Drive and Photos. I'm not sure.
