Given that the Vivid has the following bands (according to Phonescoop):
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
LTE 700 / 1700
WCDMA 850 / 1900 / 2100
-Can anyone confirm whether this phone, when unlocked, will work with T-Mobile's 3G network or not; since it has the AWS (1700) band?
It wont work. The HTC Vivid only has WCDMA 850 / 1900 / 2100 that is what is used for 3G data speeds. T-Mobile requires AWS bands which is 1700 and 2100. On T-Mobile one of those bands is used for Uploading and the other is used for Downloading....you need both in order to be AWS compliant. The fact that it has 2100 does nothing for T-Mobile use. 2100 is used in Europe.
The 1700 band listed is only for LTE. And I think Phonescoop actually missed part of the LTE specifications because I read elsewhere that the HTC Vivid for LTE is 700 and AWS. Meaning that it uses the AWS bands 1700/2100 for LTE only. And you can't use this for T-Mobile AWS 3G. This makes sense if the T-Mobile purchase goes through because AT&T intends to use T-Mobiles current 3G bands which are only AWS 1700/2100 for LTE.

Perhaps somebody else can confirm this, but my speculation is no. The AWS band in the Vivid is specifically for LTE, I believe, so it wouldn't pick up HSPA on it. It has this mainly so that it's merger proof, I think. AT&T would like to use T-Mobile's AWS band for expanded LTE if the merger goes through.

Can somebody please confirm whether this phone is compatible with T-Mobile 4g Network. I have T-Mobile grandfathered $5 unlimited data. it would be awesome if this phone works! (since none of T-mobile branded phones work with grandfathered data) )

T-Mobile 3G = WCDMA/UMTS/HSDPA = AWS Band 1700/2100 (needs both frequencies - one uploads, the other downloads)
T-Mobile 4G = HSPA+ = same requirements as 3G

sorry to resurrect this thread, but hasn't t-mobile started putting out their 1900MHZ spectrum 3G? I have heard and seen many iPhones getting 3g with T-Mobile. This VIVID has the same bands as other phones that would get 3g, since it has a 1900 HSDPA band. Has anyone reported sightings of getting 3g on an HTC Vivid yet?

just did multiple speed tests, and i got a range from 7mbps - 10.5 mbps download and 1.5 - 4.5 upload on my vivid that was a paper weight for a while.:laugh:

Just curious (reviving the thread), I noticed that T-mobile's GSM-based network has 1700MHz AWS listed for their 4G speeds, and the radio interface is LTE. The Vivid has 700 and 1700/2100 MHz listed for the LTE. Both are listed to work on band 4. Would this not theoretically allow the vivid to attain 4G speeds on T-mobile?
Also, T-mobile has 850 [roaming], 1700, and 1900 MHz on the UMTS interface for 3G generation. The vivid can connect to 850[roaming!] and 1900 MHz, although it does not specify the band. So maybe 3G works with T-mobile?
And we all know the 2G spectrum works too, but just for consistency:
T-mobile 2G: 850MHz (band 5) GSM [roaming], 1900MHz (band 2) GSM
Vivid: 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz GSM
I would love either verification or reasons why this doesn't quite work!

Have a HTC VIVID on Albinoman's CM11 (1/12 build) using Simple Mobile (a MVNO of T-Mobile).
Using the APN already on the SIM/ROM I DO NOT get the 4G LTE.
Fortunately I get 4G, H, 3G, and E for the phone.
So LTE is still a no-go with T-Mobile with the HTC Vivid unfortunately (for now).

I'm looking at the wikipedia pages for at&t and t-mobile:

and in the radio frequency summary of at&t, I can see 1700/2100 MHz AWS on band 4 for 4G with LTE protocol, and T-mobile has 1700MHz AWS on band 4 for 4G LTE as well, but that's "building out", which means that band isn't available everywhere (I think i recall hearing that T-mobile was starting to change their frequencies around 2013).Also, I'm not certain if T-mobile allows the use of their 4G LTE on their SIM card no-contract plans.

I got XZ C6603 today from handtec. I activated brand new LTE simcard at rogers store and set up lte apn.
Soon as I did that data connection rapidly changing from h+ to 3g for a while then drop the data connection and phone reception as well.
Seems like lot of ppl here in Canada having trouble getting LTE connection but I am having hard time getting my phone reception and H+ connection.
I'm not sure either XZ is defect or this phone is simply wont work with Rogers.
Any solutions?? or should I just return the phone back to handtec?

Go into network settings and network mode and change it to only WCDMA(preferred)/GSM.
3G and HSPA+ work flawlessly so keep it on those instead.
Basically the phone keeps searching for an LTE network but can't connect so it'll keep switching between the network modes.
I'm hoping there's a solution to this soon, because the Z can actually find the Rogers LTE network but can't connect for some reason.
Probably a work around fix that can be done. :good:

HSPA+ will probably be unpredictable on a regional basis - many North American carriers use UMTS1900 and the 6603 does not support that band for HSPA+ operation.
6603 will not operate on LTE in any band in North America I'm aware of.

You are wrong,
Rogers does support LTE 2600
I would not use a phone on Rogers that can't get 1900Mhz but ... You should be able to use 2600 LTE. Have you entered the LTE APN ?

HSPA+ works fine where I am on my 6603.
People have been able to get LTE on theirs as well, depending on the region.

My LTE worked for an hour the other. I've read the 2600 band is a higher speed band, but it has weaker penetration and more sensitive.
Im beginning to think that you need both 2100 and 2600 bands for LTE to properly work in Canada since Rogers have both deployed simultaneously. Maybe Rogers need to improve their 2600 deployement in order for the XZ to work.

You need band 4 and band 10. Each frequency is used for different reasons (upstream/downstream). Just having 2,600 Mhz won't do anything. It's already been confirmed by multiple users that LTE doesn't work in North America (AT&T, Rogers, etc.)
That's why the C6603 wasn't released in North America.
The leaked C6606 model should support it, as well as the ZL. (http://playstation.com/psm/certified.html)

(Going into the Service Menu on the Optimus G shows off its full band support.)
Without the appropriate uplink AND downlink support, LTE will not work.
Rogers has LTE deployed on bands 4, 7, and 10.
The C6603 supports bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 20.

Does the HTC One have hspa+ on T-Mobile? It doesn't have the 1700 band. I live in an area that doesn't have LTE but has hspa+ and hasn't refarmed the 1900 band so I would be stuck on 2g in this case?
Yes, you would be stuck with edge (2g) until the reframed network is live. Purchase the device from T-Mobile, it will have the 1700 band

Problem with TMobile phone is the 32gb ;/
I would love to get my hands on 64gb HTC One but it doesn't have the hspa+ aka 1700 band
Now I have been told you might be able to flash a radio but it has yet to be confirmed whether this is really possible or not.
Sadly I will be force to buy a S4 because of this issue. Unless someone can confirm hspa+ radio can be flashed on Dev Edition

I really hope someone creates a mod to Enable the Tmobile AWS band on the Unlocked HTC One, similiar to what they did for the ATT Galaxy Note 2. These high end phones have the hardware to work on the the various gsm frequencies, but they come disabled. Someone was able to figure it out on the galaxy note 2, but I have been searching and I don't see anyone working on a similiar solution for the HTC One. I guess time will tell. I've ordered an unlocked HTC One, and will test to see if I get 4g LTE in Chicago which is listed as a 1900 refarmed area. The consensus seems to be that if i'm in an area that does not have 4g lte i'll be reduced to 2g Edge speeds. This my friends...would suck donkey balls.

Same here. I ordered the unlocked ONE. I live in Houston which is refarmed 1900 also with lte. Had I known my dam phone would be delayed again I would have just waited for the tmobile version.

Your last statement about 4G LTE and 2G Edge speeds isn't necessarily true. I live in LA and we don't have LTE for T-mobile yet, however T-mobile has refarmed many of their towers around here to use the 1900MHz band so that you can get HSPA+ on phones that don't have 1700MHz support (like many AT&T phones and unlocked phones, like the HTC One Developer Edition). I received my HTC One Developer Edition today and drove around a bit here. While my phone doesn't have 1700MHz support, the screen still showed "H" for HSPA+ everywhere I went, and I tested speeds as high as around 9000kbps download. So being able to get 1900MHz HSPA+ is not tied directly to if an area has LTE or not.
I know this has been talked about in a lot of threads but for some reason I can't wrap my head around it. Let me write down what I understand to be the compatibility and what is not, then please correct me where/if I'm wrong.
T-mo uses the 1700MHz and 2100MHz in conjunction (1700 to send data, 2100 to receive) for their 3G/4G network and plan on the same for their 4G LTE networks.
They are refarming their 1900MHz (currently 2G) to support 3G/4G, but not 4G LTE. The refarmed map is very limited. http://www.airportal.de/
Given the above, the One Dev Edition will be able to get 4G, if in a refarmed area, but once you travel outside you're down to Edge or 2g. Dev Edition will also not be able to get 4G LTE, as that will use the 1700/2100 combo.
I may be saying the same thing you are and if so I apologize.
I believe (and will stand corrected if I am wrong) that currently TMO is using 1700/2100 for their HSPA (3G/4G) network and are in the process of migrating HSPA to 1900.
The One will not operate HSPA on the 1700/2100 system but will work fine on 1900 system so in areas where they've converted to 1900 you'll get 3G/4G otherwise you'll be stuck on 2G (assuming that LTE is not available, which it most likely wouldn't as TMO needs the 1700/2100 for LTE.
The One will operate on LTE in 1700/2100 which is what TMO is intending to do with that system.

I was hoping the ATT S5 would get UMTS 900 and LTE Band 20 (Europe Digital Dividend 800 Mhz), I was disappointed to see that it does not.
I live 45 min. North, Northwest of Philly and AT&T is the best carrier in PA - HANDS DOWN! I also travel every week, all over the US for work - and I'm very happy with AT&T in general. One thing I noticed on my S4 is that I could not get LTE in Burlington, VT on it - but I had full bars of LTE on my iPad Air. Side question; What band does ATT use for LTE there that the S4 don't support?

on the S4 I was able to activate AWS freq. for UMTS by flashing it. I need to do this for UMTS 900 and/or (pref. AND LTE Band 20, since I travel to Northern Norway all the time - and there is only UMTS 900 and LTE 20 some places there.... If I cannot have the phone flashed to have the current bands AND the wanted bands - would there be a way to flashing it back and forth from ATT to "Euro/International" mode?

AT&T uses bands 2, 4, 5, & 17 for LTE. Band 17 (700mhz) is what most of their LTE is on. That's why the signal is always good. I am starting to see Band 2 (1900mhz) in some areas. I saw Band 4 (AWS) in Chicago in a few areas (probably were capacity is weak).
Yes, with the S4 you could unlock the AWS frequencies. I do not know if you could flash UMTS 900 with an S4. You will not be able to flash anything with frequencies on the S5 as AT&T has locked down the phone entirely. It will follow in the Note 3's footsteps.
I think they discourage people unlocking their devices and using them on other networks. AT&T is forgetting what GSM is all about IMO. If AT&T LTE is not that important to you, you may want to consider the international variant which will support your European frequencies. It will NOT work on AT&T LTE though.

AT&T is most important, as I am in the US 95% of the time. At least the S5 will have LTE 1800 and 2600. My hometown in Norway should get LTE 1800 later this year. So at least I will have GSM 900, UMTS 2100 and LTE 1800.
Do you, or anyone else know if AT&T will unlock Phones on the Next plan? I got the S4 full price, but I'm using the Next plan for the S5.

They'll unlock it if its paid off entirely. But that doesn't mean you can't unlock it yourself.
