What kind of brick? Usb port is manually broken? If is, you lose warranty. Samsung reject free service if phone was damaged. To reinstall recovery on stock, you need working usb to flash original recovery by odin, only thats the way. To remove counter and status rom to official you need rooted phone and use Triangle away app in phone. Check in manual of triangle away, can you use triangle away with your phone. If not, you use it on your own risk - at least you can totally broke your phone and nothing help. Then you buy new one. But btw if your usb port is damaged you pay for repair, so problem with custom recovery go to 2nd plan.

Hi. Im on Rocket Rom V2 ICS. And my phone is of course Rooted. What should I do, now that im going to send my phone too service to get the mini usb fixed. How can i unroot my phone when the usb port wont work?
is it physically broken?
if not, just clean it properly and it should be fine
It is possible to flash a stock rom through mobile odin. Use some friends phone or something, to get it on your external SD card.
Get a cheap external battery charger. Then find instructions for unrooting phone and returning to stock. You could try this
BUT, I would suggest reading a bit more first.
It can be done and Samsung won't know any difference, if its done right.
Battery charger here
Before you send it in because it isn't charging, if it isn't PHYSICALLY broken,
check this wiki. It might just need a good cleaning out.

My SGS+ runs on 2.3.5
when I connect USB cable it charges but WINXP won't recognize it .... tried on different machines ... reinstalled drivers (Kies drivers and Nexus )
still the same
Any suggestions ?
even tried tut http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571
Nothing helps
Maybe your usb cable is broken?
first of all. wrong post. you need to post you questions in the q&a forum.
second: go to settings, connections, usb-connection. there are three options: kies, mediaplayer and mass storage. choose kies if you want to connect with kies. be sure to have usb-debugging turned off (in settings, go to development at the bottom)
hit thanks if i helped

if your phone is charging while you have usb cable connected, then you can try a factory reset, could be a software problem

After several failure attempts definitely 95% sure USB connector is broken.
By the way i have stock firmware 2.3.5 rooted, remowed CWM before USB connector broke so only thing is to unroot and do factory reset
I think that might be enough for mobile company to repair it !
Thanks everyone for help !!
will post results

My brother has bought a used a galaxy s European model and it's his first smartphone.
The problem with the phone is that it's running 2.1 old ass stock Rom. It doesn't connect to any pc with the usb cable. He has installed kies and the usb drivers from the Samsung website. It just gives an error 'Usb device not recognised'.
He tried to install mobile odin pro app but it gives an error 'package not found'.
I'm abroad and I could only tell him so much over Skype.
Should he return the phone or is it repairable?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

This could be due two things
1) the USB cable is damaged or you have an incompatible USB cable ( Must be Samsung) only way is borrow or buy another cable to test
2) The USB port may need some cleaning or is damaged ( check link for cleaning methods )
Most of all when connections fail, you need to reboot both PC and Phone, after you have removed their power source, meaning unplug PC and pull out battery before checking again
Finally read this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571 compiled everything I know to resolve this...

Hello xda,
Sorry for the wrong section but i want a fast answer because my phone is almost gone
I have a problem with the charger ... it connects and disconnects frequently ...
I need to put the phone in a bizar pozition for it to charge.
Whatever...
I went to the store where i bought the phone to fix this problem.
But , it has cm10.1 installed and they say they can fix the problem only if i have the stock installed and 0 counter bin..........
I come home and try to flash stock via odin...
The USB works the same way as charger.
And while flashing I move accidentaly the phone...
And now is 0% battery and is not charging.......
I can't even open it...
What should I do?
Is there any chance to return it to stock?...
If not what mid-range phone did you suggest me?
I look for a s2 plus or a nokia lumia 520...
Thanks for understanding !
Borrow a battary from a frined and try to flash stock via odin carefully this time.

I have a problem with the place where the charger is putting...
And while i want to install 2.3.6 via odin and remove the usb at 65%....
It couldn't charge... because it has teoretical no software..
so.. you can use odin or not?
As i said... nope..
The phone doesen't turn on...
When i flash 2.3.6 via odin it fails
And the charger (the place where you put it) is massedup.........
I was thinking if i can give my battery to a friend with the same phone to charge my battery and then trying to flash again...
Hope it will work.
Thanks for all
Okay, the problem is the horrid usb port some sgm 2 series have, just go to the shop, tell them to replace your usb port. Its not a charger problem. Then feel free to flash cm again, because its the best

at the store they told me if i have root / not official soft they can't do nothing... thats the cause of me trying to flash 2.3.6
Dude, its completely fking irrelevant whether you have official or not, for usb port replacement it doesnt matter. Go to another service if they keep telling you bull$hit

It is relevant because guarranty does not apply if you don't have the official software, it doesn't matter what needs to be changed, you need to fulfil all the requirements for the guarranty to apply.
Thatt is true tho. In that case i dont see how this can be fixed
So.. i'm back !
I bought a new usb cable and a battery and flash 2.3.6 but with no wipe (via odin)
So the phone does not turn on (stuck at samsung logo) because i had 4.2.2 (cm10.1)
And I tryied to go to cwm (flashed via odin) to wipe and flash again 2.3.6
But it won't open.
Not even official recovery turned on ...
I tryied cwm / twrp but no chance.
Any helps how to enter into recovery??
it's a hard brick, nothing you can do.
Heh.
I just enter recovery and flash the 2.3.6.
My guarranty is back !
I take the phone tomorrow to service for charger fix !
THANKS A LOT !
Hi guys,
Bit of an awkward one, I need to restore my Note from CM10 to a standard rom to send it back to Samsung for repair of the USB and screen burn in.
Only problem is the USB not working means I cannot do it via the PC, is there any other way I can sort this out or am I stuck with replacing the USB connection myself and stuck with a bad screen?
Maybe with mobile ODIN? Not sure if they can detect if I use that? Also any idea whats the best stock rom to use please? (UK Based)
Cheers for your help.
mobile odin is the way to go... while on cm, clean the data. then load any stock jb rom file and flash.. dont use ota survival option in mobile odin.

Just download some stock rom and flash it. Then reset flashcounter (& triangle) using triangleaway (I know older version worked on SGS2) and You're good to send.
Download the Stock ROM from Sammbile.com of your own country.
Use Mobile Odin to flash the STOCK ROM
Then reset the counter by Triangle Away, Yes it works fine.
And then send it to SC.
:good:
Thanks for the help guys, one last problem, how can I use Triangle away without root? As I guess I best not send it back to samsung with it rooted.
you cannot.. you will need to root. use TA and then unroot it again.
Was just reading the description on mobile odin and it says it doesnt increase the count so I should be ok just with that.... hopefully
flashing a stock rom doesnot increase counter. if your count is 0 and binary is official, then its fine

Yeah, You're right. Sorry, I gave You the wrong order.
First reset counter and triangle, then flash stock ROM (as it doesn't increase flash counter)
