[Q] Wrong language in certain modules in custom ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I recently installed a custom Rom (Ultimate N7000 LT4 JB 4.1.2 v6 - deoxed) for my Note's father and after installing all his apps I found that some modules or rom apps are not "translatable". That is, even though I select my preferred language from Settings, some modules are still in English. I guess these apk originally belong to a non-international rom and were ported to that ROM, so no matter what language you choose, only English is available in these apk/modules (Phone, Messaging and Mobile Network).
I was wondering, if I can just replace these 2 files "SecMms.apk" and "SecPhone.apk" from another 4.1.2 international custom rom and place them in my N7000's system folder...would it work? I'm not an experienced user and I'd like to know mor about ths before trying and -perhaps- messing it all up.
Otherwise I might have to install another custom ROM....but I'm just a bit short of time to do that all over again with all configurations, apps and other optimizations I did.
Has anybody ever done something similar?
Any comment/help will be highly appreciated.
Cheers!

No-one?...

[Q] Vodafone Australia

Hey Guys.
It's been a little while since I played the custom ROM game. But I just got a Vodafone Galaxy Tab.
I'm not sure how I flash it, as the options for flashing are only for US version in ClockWorkOrange (I think that's what it's called).
Any help would be great.
I'm running an optus tab and have flashed the MCK ext4 kernel and the MCR r1 both seem to be very stable. But as far as i can tell any euro kernel and rom will work fine. I have also used the CF-root by chainfire which was good for keeping things relatively stock.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I'm with optus got a guide?
hey there, I have an optus galaxy tab - data plan etc.
just wondering if we need a specific rom and I suppose most importantly where to get started ? do I need clock work from rom manager or would that be a bad step?
cheers
Don't touch ROM Manager if you value your Tab. All recovery images are currently based on ClockWorkMod, but you'll want to flash it normally.
Look in the general forum for rooting/flashing guides.

I don't think it makes any difference which custom rom you use.
I used to have rocket. Tried darky for like a day or two. Now I am on Checkrom. Never had any problem with any of them.
It is always recommended to do a back up of all your apps and data with something like titanium and do a complete wipe before installing any new rom.
I personally use CWM for installing new roms. I am guessing that you have rooted your phone?
Could you let me know the best ROM to use which gives me very good theme and good battery life.

[Q] The most Stable 4.1 / 4.2 ROM avaible?

Hello, i want to change my friend I9000 that he bought but can't use 3G , only GPRS. (That is not the problem, so don't mind this)
He asked me for checking this and find out what's wrong, well i was looking around stuff and figured out the phone is using lidroid 1.2 (Android 2.3.4 , kerlen 2.6.35.7 , bandbase I9000ZSJPJ)
I already know the basics of ROM stuff (I have a Galaxy Y , i have already changed the ROM and other stuffs, so you guys don't need to explain the very basics)
So, i was looking for a Jelly Bean ROM, 4.1 or 4.2 to use on his phone, my requeriments are basic:
- A nice, simple ROM
- Crash as hard as possible
- Less bugs possible (Specially on basid daily things like calling, camera, gaming ,other stuff)
- Have Portuguese language and support the Brazilian frequencies (its international so whatever)
What do you guys recommend? Plus, is I9000 modding safe? What are the chances of something going wrong? because - If something goes wrong and can't be fixed, he will kill me plus i will have to give my cellphone to him
Well first of all if your friend asks you to help him, he should know that flashing can always crash the rom!
Something can happen always. Let him do the flashing. If you help him and something happens it does not have to be your fault
I can recommend Xylon or C-Rom by Aways
all of them run pretty smooth and stable

[Q] 4.3 on I9000B?

Just wondering, is Android 4.3 coming to I9000B? I've seen it on I9000 and many other devices.
I even tried changing the build.prop and updater script on a I9000 4.3 ROM to fit on my I9000B, but it didn't work, quite a surprise for me, because that normally works just fine.
Anything about it?
Not related to your Question, just wondering, IF you know
Does any of your (i9000B) custom ROMS (ICS or JBean) have the DMB TV functioning?
reason I am asking is because, the M110S is the First baby of Samsung smart phone series and the i9000B would be the last version to incorporate the DMB TV hardware in Galaxy S series.
sort of similar but m110S is much more difficult to crack/modify than the i9000B

No, that feature was removed the first time I flashed a custom ROM.
No, only GB (2.3.5 max) has support for DMB TV , and there no development for this on ICS, JB at the moment.

Theres one here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012061 but right now im getting a lot of FC on android.process.media , for Play store and other apps ...
PD: strange thing that i9000 roms works for you... usually that end up on a working rom but with no touch and you need to flash a custom kernel specially for i9000b.

Yeah, I include the kernel files along with the ROM, edit the build.prop so it's like I9000B default and updater script, to be able to flash on a I9000B (or galaxysbmtd)
And here it is a 4.3 for I9000B. http://www.hellybean.com/download/galaxy-s/neue-download-page/
ahhh ... off course .. i use to only change the assert on updater script an then flash the after but its the same result.
Did you flash hellybean 4.3 ? it's working ok for you? i flashed it but had to go back to 4.2.2 , annoying FC on android.process.media every few seconds and market crashed to with no warning .

Just installed, wiped /system, /boot, /data and all. Booted up fine, rebooted in recovery to install Gapps. Booted up again, Gapps didn't prompt me the one time config, as it always does. But it works.
Going to activate some Xposed modules, Xposed can't read data/xpesed/modules.whitelist.
Root-needed apps can't use root, and superuser shows nothing. Had to manually install superuser from here, and it doesn't seems to work. Tried to use ChainsDD's SU app to update the binary, can't allow SU access to it, so no go.
Focal takes a picture, freezes and force closes, I try going on it again and it can't connect to the camera.
Had to wipe everything again to attempt to make a clean superuser binary installing.
[EDIT]
Flashed back 4.2.2, couldn't find a way to make root work.

Missing update app

Hi all...
I was bored with my self, so I thought it would be a good idea to try some different roms for our awesome little phone. All was ok, until I've installed HUAWEI_Sophia-L10C900B839. The rom came missing a keyboard (easily fixed), and missing some other features which the latest official rom (852 I do believe), and it doesn't have the option to turn on 4G (my network supports it, and I've used it before). No 4G is a no go for me, so I want to install the normal EU rom. But I am missing the update app, so I can not install a local update. Any suggestions on how I can fix this???
