I got Sprint HTC one M7 with Software version: 3.04.651.2, My phone is RELOCKED.
I just got a notification of software update for version 3.05.651.6 and I would like to know if i can just install the update from the phone without harming my phone?
or should I do it as instructed here?

With the last update, there was a stock rooted recovery-flashable zip available pretty quickly. The benefit to this is you could flash without wiping (as the ruu requires). Is that something that will likely be available soon, or am I out of luck?

If you flash a rooted ROM you'll be rooted. If you flash an unrooted ROM (and a stock ROM is unrooted), you'll still have to root.
Kingo is a lot easier than flashing a ROM is all you want to accomplish is rooting. Flash a ROM if it's different than the ROM you're running, and you want those differences. (If you're at NB4, use Kingo 1.5 or earlier, the latest one (1.6, IIRC) won't do NB4.)

Ok so with my M7 variant running ATT 4.18.502 and hboot 1.55, TWRP 8.3.0, would this 5.12.502.2 firmware cause a brick? Do i have to A) Revert to stock before flashing? B) grab the firmware with recovery and boot.img removed?
Also would someone be able to point me in the right direction for the 5.12.502 Firmware with recovery and boot removed? dont feel like going back to stock first.

I downgrade to 4.2.2 and try but don't work and hboot version don't lower
