Gear Manager + Nexus 5

Hey guys,
Just got a Gear and trying to get it working with my Nexus 5.
I have read through the guides and always get stuck with connecting Gear Manager;
Flashes installing 0/2
Connect Manually; if I am already connected via Bluetooth it disconnects and never finds the device
Connects, takes me to a restore option.
Selecting either Restore or Reset will fail and start the process over.
Any ideas?

I had that previously too. Thats because you have previously made a backup using Galaxy Manager.
Delete the backup file on your phone and factory reset your gear, it should work

wanted to advise where the backup file is but I couldn't remember so perhaps you can post it here for others to reference

Root of your SDCARD, .bs_backup or something.
Right now trying to get the latest Gear Manager to work so I can use Watch Styler but the phone won't seem to sync.

I don't think any apps work if gear manager doesn't work. And gear manager doesn't work (fully) if not on a touchwiz rom

Gear Manager 1.6.111801 works fine on my Nexus 5 but I can't get Watch Styler to work.

Well, I actually got it updated to the latest Gear Manager release by just updating after the previous version worked.
Reinstalled Watch Styler and Force Stopped Gear Manager but still no luck; I cannot see Watch Styler Clock under Gear Manager > Clocks as an option

Yes, gear manager will work on any phone, it just won't work as a middle man if not a touchwiz rom

It's working fine for calls contacts and logs, using ATNotifications for everything else!

Yeah, but they are just standard Bluetooth functions that don't require any 3rd party stuff

You need to instal Watch Styler if that helps?

I can do some s voice commands on my sony z ultra with GPE rom I can takes pictures by saying snap etc or start video recording answer calls and reject pretty cool hey I am using the latest everything.

How did you make it work?

Anyone have working links to gear manager stub apk? The one on media fire is dead.

You need to install watch styler on phone version 1.0.9 during installation keep paired the phone and gear manager status connected... After that you can change style clock, after installing it. Close all. Close hear manager and open again and going to the application menu and go back. Open clock and appear watch styler clock.

Dear i have galaxy manager installed on my nexus 5 and also have watch styler installed. But when i try to change face using watch styler it take me to the galaxy manager but i can't see the watch styler in the galaxy manager. Please guide me how i can use it

hello guys
today i bought a galaxy gear. Previous i read that it is possible to connect the gear with my nexus 5. But i tried many gear managers but by version 1.2 ans 1.6 connections fails by higher versions the app crashes.
I hope you can help me. Please give me the link to the gear manager that you use maybe a an ibstruction too.

[Q] watch styler without gear manager?

Hi im pretty new to everything about roms and so on, but i have a galaxy gear with null rom. And since my phone is a z1 i cant use the gear manager. I am using the apex launcher, and i got it working this night so i pretty much dont know anything about it yet. I have downloaded the watch styler and so on, but if i chose to use it, it only say "Download gear manager" So what i wounder is can i get it to work with my apex launcher without the gear manager?

Gear manager is the link between phone and watch. You need it
You should still be able to install gear manager on your phone, just check one of the threads on non-touchwiz (Samsung) devices

i find watch styler drains battery life so i ditched it.

Does S Health work or NOT work with the watch

Okay, first of all, I'm coming from the Gear 1 to the Gear 2 Neo, and I loved S Health. It appears not to work with my Gear 2 Neo. I have not deleted the Gear 1 stuff off my phone or Gear Manager. I have tried to search this forum and Google, but I can't seem to get a definitive answer as to whether or not the S Health app is compatible. I don't like the look and feel of the Fitness with Gear app. Doesn't seem as robust as S Health. The S5 uses v3.0 and my S4 is stuck on v2.5.5. I guess I'll have to wait until I upgrade to the S5 (that's if they release a rumored S5 prime).

from what I read from another thread its because its only compatible with S Health v3.0 and above.
You can probably install S Health v3.0 from the leaked apk files

I have an S4 with the latest S Health and it does not work. More annoying is the steps differ by a large margin (1000 steps) from watch to phone !!!
What the hell is the point of having a fitness watch app that does not even sync or work with your device.

so I got it working with my Note 3.
I uninstalled the old S Health, downloaded a copy of S5's S Health and Health Services.
Rebooted my Note 3, installed both S Health and Health Services.
Then I went to the S Heath's Pedometer app.
Press "Menu Button"
Clicked "Device data to view" and selected Gear Neo

I supposedly have a copy of the S5 baked in with the ROM I'm running and still can't get it to work. I don't have this selection you have.

S-Health 3.0 works with the New NEO, but you can't access your old data.
At least I could not! . . . I found that S Health 2.5/2.6 did not work with the NEO. And the Samsung Fitness app is terrible.
SO I installed the Galaxy S5's S-Health (3.0). That worked on my phone and with my Neo (I have a Samsung S4, I337).
However. With the S-Health 3.0 app, there is no option to restore data. So all of my old S Health Data --months and months of it from just using the S4, is NOT available on the new S Health. All my records now are just since I installed S-Health 3.0. I can't bring my old records forward.
When/if I reinstall the "old" S Health --my old file data can be downloaded via my Samsung account. But that is not an option in S Health 3.0. (If someone does know how to do this --could you please let me know!)

I've attached screenshots on the step by step on how to get it to work.
I hope you guys can get it to work.

from the main menu. Click menu button. Select Backup and Restore. Make sure you link your samsung account. and click restore after

I found it by searching XDA and found one dated 4/27/14 along with HealthService apk, both for the S5. I turned off (essentially uninstalled) S Health on my S4 and installed first the healthservice apk then S health and after setting the pedometer to track my device, it is working beautifully.

Tried this on Note 3 (N900A). Did not work. Continually received "unfortunately Health Services stopped unexpectedly".

This is the same version I used.

Exactly, on the S4, I could only turn off the old one, which essentially uninstalls it. I am rocking version 3.1 with my Gear 2 Neo and loving it. Glad I decided to risk it.

I just want to say that ofc it is just going to work with the S5s S-health to begin with, samsung wants to sell their new phone and not the S4 or S3. I am sure that when sale pan out abit we will see S-health 3.0 on S4 also.
Tho i do agree its anoying to not be able to get the steps and calories synced between fitness and health.

I found after doing this three times (due to reflashing my S4), that if you install the Service APK and then the SHealth 3.0 APK, as you go through the intial setup it asks to update SHealth (think to 3.1), then you get the extra sync menu (i.e. which data to view).
If you get it wrong the update to 3.1 does not occur and it does not sync.
Saying that the 3rd time around it works fine and is supposedly syncing with my Neo, but my Neo is showing 1400 steps, the S4 is showing 400 steps, its sync's fine but the data is wrong.
I do not know why the option does not exist to just make your phone the master, as in reality a phone in the pocket near the waist will give a more accurate step reading that a watch that is constantly waving as you move your hand.

I have the 3.1 apk and it works well, but if you soft reset (reboot) your phone, it will erase everything in S Health and ask you to set it up again. Anyone else who has got it working on their S4 found this too?

Yep same issue, in the end I went back to the standard size health on my S4.
I got an update for it today, it recognises the S4 and fitness syncs but only the HRM not steps ???

Yesterday i got an update to both Fitness with Gear and S-Health (original one for S4) and it now say "Connected to fitness with gear" on the main menu in S-Health, my steps still differ between the clock and the phone (fitness vs S-Health) but atleast it seems that there are some syncing between the two apps.
As I said, both apps are the ones intended for the S4. (version 2.5.5.051 for S-Health and version 1.3.01.0521 for Fitness with gear)

Same for me. I have both the apps updated to the same versions, and still S Health cannot sync with Gear 2 Neo. Anyway, the only news is that S Health currently shows my Gear Neo within the connected stuff, but if I try to push the configuration button S Health totally stops working and resets, while synchronization is never possible. Samsung developers really suck (or simply they are pushing us towards the S5, and I do not like this at all).

problems loading some apps from samsung app store

So I just got my neo and am trying to load some apps on to it. I can load some such as the flashlight app and pacman but I wanted to add an rss reader like appy geek or feedly. Sadly, they say they install and then when I go to gear manager and look on the list, it's not there and I receive a notification that the install failed. I had to go to settings=>apps and remove the appy geek for gear app that way and the same for feedly. I have the apps installed on my phone and am running a GS4 with 4.4.2 and the latest Samsung apps from their website. Is anyone else having issues similar to these or know of a work around?

I am having a similar problem.
A friend used my phone to install an app from the samsung store. Now when I want to install the app it says view in gear manager instead of giving me the option to install on my gear 2. There seems to be no way to make the samsung store think it is uninstalled. I have fully reset my gear 2, phone, deleted my samsung account and made a new one, no change at all.
Super annoying. 5$ to anyone with a fix.

Did you all mess with Samsung Hub? I know I had this issues when I uninstalled it.

I dont have any thing with name samsung hub.....

ive updated my gear to tizen and I love it, watch styler works very well and the interface is clean
only 1 problem I think
I goto gear manager ,then Samsung apps,
completely nothing there, no apps at all
has this happened to anyone else

How did you get watch styler to work after the upgrade? I also confronted Samsung about the lack of apps for Gear 1 owners now running Tizen (14 available for me), and they said that unfortunately only a few Gear 2 apps are currently compatible for Gear 1 owners- even though internal specs of the 2 watches are nearly identical (not to mention OS is the same).

click the 3 dots for the menu, then purchased
update watchstyler
that's how it works for me
im running Nordic NEE 2.2
my Samsung apps has not even got any catagrys for me

found the solution to my proble, I uninstalled gear manager
then installed the updated gear manager
bingo ive got apps now
but no watchstyler, and can not install watch styler

first time I installed tizen,it asked me to restore, I restored and everything worked good, ,just no apps in Samsung app store
watch styler worked and it was the last opion in clocks
it worked with all my rolex watches, analogs, I never tried digital ones before
then I found someone else had the no apps problem, I uninstalled gear manager, then installed the new version....then it told me it will restore my watch to factory settings, it did it,and then I lost everything

That makes sense since I was in the process of installing a fresh ROM on my S4 at the time also and started out completely new with BT pairing to the newly flashed Tizen Gear and let it download Gear Manager from there.
Oh well, goodbye Watchstyler for now. :crying:
