Please help!!! My charger port broke and I need to unroot to take it to Cellular South to see if they can fix it. I am running CM 6.1 and I rooted with Z4root. I saved it on my phone with Titanium Backup. When I click on it all it says is root. Well i figured if I try to reroot it, it will recognize that I am already rooted and then give me the option to unroot but all it does is reboots and reinstalls the current ROM. When I go back to Z4root it says the same thing, root. I also was going to get the original RUU from Cell South but I can't hook my phone up to the computer to finish the process cause of my charger port is broken. Please help me!!! If I failed to give you all the info you need, let me know and I will give you the missing info. Thanks in advance!!!
have your tried running the ruu through adb using adb wireless?
How do you do that?
I downloaded the RUU from Cell South and tried to install it from recovery mode but it just went back to the current ROM again.
there is a progam called adb wireless.... havent done any of this myself but i would guess its the same as running the ruu in adb connected through usb.
check here for ruu commands in adb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688820 the app is in market i do believe
hope i not confusing you or leading you down the wrong path but is just an idea you can try

You don't run an RUU from recovery, or from the phone at all.
Do you have fast boot working??? If so there's a zip you can flash from h boot to return to stock.

Isn't fast boot where I press and hold power button and volume up? If so then yes it works but not sure how to use it. The only thing I use it for is when is says (menu) Recovery. I use it to send me to recovery mode sometimes.

What is this androidsdk I keep hearing about? I actually got help rooting with the good folks from phandroid forums. Maybe y'all use this androidsdk in your rooting method and Phandroid does not and I'm missing that and that us why I can't figure out what y'all are talking about. Just thinking...

Give me a sec to boot up I'll post you some links on how to get the android sdk. Adb wireless wont work without it. I've never used that app so not sure on how it works. And fast boot is when you have s-off. When you hold your volume down and power before you hit the button for recovery it will say in the top left hand corner or right, if you have s-off or s-on. To use fast boot you have to have s-off.

I just checked and it says S-on.

Download the .apk found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765 i used version 1.2. install a file manager if you transfered the file from your pc and find the .apk and install it. if doing it from the device same thing. before opening the .apk make sure debugging is on and unknown sources is enabled.
Open the gingerbreak .apk and simply click Root device. If successful the device will reboot. Once it reboots download an app that requires superuser. and if all went well it should ask for superuser perms. Also you should now see the SU apk in your app draw.
Now Download Rom Manager from the market and flash Clockworkmod recovery and flash away. Rom manager is only good for flashing recovery nothing else works within it. You must manually enter recovery by holding + volume and power until bootloader menu appears. Then select option 2. Make sure your battery has 80% or more. No more fastboot. Good luck and happy streaking.
I'm not responsible if you brick your device. Do some reading before you think about rooting and see if its for you.
Thanks goes to the devs of gingerbreak.
THANK YOU HELLZYA!
And Thanks to Chainfire over at GingerBreak.
This is the coolest thing EVER!
So happy to have root now!!!!!!
Time to be a flash monster. lol
Very strange. I have SU but CWM does not work.
I click on Backup ROM and it just reboots.
I click on Install ROM from SDCard and it just reboots.
I click Reboot into Recovery and it just reboots.
Other than that everything else works great that needs SU.
Now everything force closes
I haven't been able to flash because everytime I reboot my Streak 7 returns to factory state, so in another thread I was suggested this workaround to help me get CWM installed and then flash another ROM...
Well, I ran this and it seemed to be fine, ran quick and then rebooted, but much to my disappointment, now everything force closes, everything, I can't even use the calculator.... and sometimes the startup wizard crashes and/or the home launcher...
Im worse off than when I started.
About the only info I can give you is that it's a Streak 7 with 2.2.2 installed
Gravityrat rom manager is only good for flashing recovery nothing else. You have to manually access. Cwr by holding plus volume and power till you see bootloader menu. Select option 2 and you will be presented with cwr. Make sure your battery is at 80% or more

Mods, can you replace the SuperOneClick sticky with this?
I am new at this, so can someone please explain how do I "make sure debugging is on and unknown sources is enabled"?
You need to download the gingerbreak apk from xda, make sure you allow opps from unknown sources and have debugging ticked, install the apk then open it and run it your streak will reboot then you have root hope it helps you
Go to your streaks settings and within there in applciations and development sections
Settings - applications - tick unknown sources - select development - tick debugging

Do i REALLY need an SD card to do this?
I have one but it's a mini and i lost the adapter :s
I'm an amateur ROM flasher and I usually get around a problem after a few hours of messing around with the device and forums but I am absolutely stumped by this one. After unsuccessfully trying to flash a few roms, I decided to restore my phone back to what it was because I backed it up only a few hours before. All it would load is a black screen with the status bar showing the time and no signal, sometimes allowing me to slide to unlock to my saved launcher with still a black background. Not only would it never get reception, it would reboot within two minutes. This cycled until the battery would die. I ended up deleting everything on the device itself in attempt to fix something, not thinking I would delete my back ups and then my ability to ever get my phone past bootloader or recovery. I can still do fastboot commands and change the recovery, but besides that, it's a brick. Any kind of help would mean the world, thanks!

It's not a brick until nothing lights up our charges. And since there is no sd slot, that's out. You have access to recovery, you're fine. Download a stable Rom and just like fastboot, do an adb push of the Rom like suggested above. Wipe data, caches, and format system before flashing. No worries. All its not lost.

Any of those adb commands results only with "error: device not found"
This may not be a fix for HTC phones, but on Samsung devices, I've had to uninstall and reinstall drivers several times. Do and uninstall, run a registry cleaner, reboot pc, reinstall drivers, reboot, and try adb again. I used to do that every so often with my Samsung devices that wouldn't be properly detected by my pc. It usually fixed my problem.

No offense meant, but that information really needs to be in the first post. It could have made things significantly easier. We also really need to know what ROMs you were trying, because the problems you'r edescribing vaguely sound like you've flashed a GSM ROM somewhere along the line by accident, in which case you will need to RUU (and most of the guides are unfortunately pretty Windows-centric).

No offense taken. Unfortunately, a Mac is all I'm able to use at the moment. I'm trying to run CleanRom from the sprint htc one development section of this site, so I'm fairly certain it should work. My main problem right now is that using adb commands my phone is not recognized. Using fastboot, though, works absolutely fine to do whatever I need and recognizes my device. I've tried using twrp and clockworkmod recovery touch to sideload any zip file and just won't work. All it says after trying that is "failed to open driver control: no such file or directory".
Please do tell me if any other information would help you help me faster. I don't frequent forums so I'd imagine I'm quite frustrating to work with.
Anybody have any idea?
So I just got this last Wednesday. I read through a guide, and watched an instructional video on how to root my device. Everything works fine up until the point where I have to install SuperSU or SuperUser. Now, my friend uses SuperUser so I thought I would go ahead and follow his footsteps with that. I install ViperOne, and it finishes. After the reboot, my device is stuck in a bootloop. I wipe the memory, not thinking, and removed everything. My backpu, ViperOne, everything. I look up some more guides and learn about the abd push ROM.zip /sdcard/ command and try it out but I'm getting device not found. I have an OTG cable coming, but the possibility is there to use adb so until it does come, I'd like to at least attempt.
Current status:
Can only access boot loader and TWRP. ADB is not working. I wouldn't mind running an RUU but the only file I found on it, on top of downloading it twice @ 80kbps, says there's an error and I can't extract it from the .zip archive.
I don't know what more information I should provide, but any advice on how to unbrick this would be greatly appreciated. This is an amazing android, and all I wanted to do was make it better :c
Try reinstalling drivers on your computer. You might have to do some research here to find them though. Good luck.

Try holding power button down until the bottom lights stop flashing and let it boot up.
....assuming you flashed the Sprint version.
Sorry. Misunderstood your post...ruu may be your best bet here.

I did the same thing when I first got the phone. Download the drivers for the one from the htc site, also try installing HTC sync if you haven't already. I'd provide links, but I'm not at a computer right now. Try using another computer if you can. Also, try restarting your phone WHILE it's plugged into your computer, or a different usb port. That helped me get adb working.

Like clsA said, just re-flash the rom, you will have to wipe everything, possibly your internal storage too as if I remember right, Venom Rom stores the settings there, I know for sure it stores themes and mods there, this will leave your phone completely empty apart from Bootloader and Recovery, you will then have to push the ROM to your internal storage and flash it.
Place the rom in the same folder as adb and fastboot on your computer, put the phone in recovery (main screen only), plug into the PC and open a command window in your fastboot/adb folder and type adb push (rom name).zip /sdcard/
Then flash it.
Alright I'll try that now that I'm home I'll see if that works thank you.

I disabled the settings app. You know where you can see app settings and such. I'll have to wait a bit before I can use a computer. But I was wondering, after using the app you suggested (didn't seem to work on my problem) I was able to find the "settings.apk" file. Wondering if uninstalling and reinstalling the "settings" app would fix anything with out having to lose any of my data. But I'm also not sure if uninstalling the settings would damage my phone, or if I do uninstall it might not let me install it again.
I tried installing the apk with out uninstalling it first and it just said application not installed
