with the latest update of instagram (6.15.0) gesture input stopped working for me in the app. (if i step back to 6.14.2 it works again)
i thought of a bug in instagram but found out that the same issue exist for eg juicessh or aide and probably even more apps.
when gesture input is not working the keyboard layout differs from normal international layout as well (see first attachment)
has anyone an explanation for this ???
ps: iam on latest stock
hmm so iam the only one having this problem ?
i forgot to mention, that when swipe is not working also word suggestion is not working as usual.
Just got a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and having this exact issue - can't find much else on web about it.
Thinking maybe download a new keyboard interface and see if that works?

I loved the gesture that lets you move your cursor in a text field by tapping the side of a phone. I tried it yesterday and it worked just fine. However, I tried it today and it's not working. I tried some other gestures too, and none of them seem to work, despite being enabled in the settings.
Does anyone else have this problem or know a solution? My phone is rooted and I have disabled a couple of apps (Carhome, F-secure and Lg launcher). First I thought it might be because of this, but enabling the Lg launcher didn't fix the problem.
Same problem here. Not rooted and totally stock.

I just followed these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953182 It was super easy, though I had to reboot after rooting. I have 2.2.2 too. If you have problems, maybe you should ask help in that thread if you didn't already.
ale, see magfal's thread here. Seriously, this phone isn't cheap- let LG know what's wrong with it. Hopefully, the incoming update will clear this "gestures" issue!
There's nothing wrong with the gestures, they just don't work with anything other than stock keyboard, stock videoplayer etc.. I just don't get why they would tie it to stock apps when they could have done it properly so it would work with any app. E.g. tapping the side would issue "arrow"/"trackball" left/right/up/down, double-tap would issue next track/previous track and so on. Cool feature though.

I may be wrong but that's what I recall...

You're right. I switched back to stock keyboard and it worked just fine. Too bad it only has one keyboard layout and is therefore pretty much useless to me. Typing with the English qwerty is way too slow when there's no buttons for all the letters I need.
Just got my HTC one, non rooted, stock firmware.
When i downloaded facebook messenger and tried to enable it to hijack sms/mms by going to the options screen, the option to enable it is missing. Funny that it works on my xperia z but not htc one.
Anyone with the same issues? Or did i get a weird set?

anyone?
I happened to find the same thing on one of my phone.
The option is here on my Galaxy Note but not on my Acer Gallant. What's weird is that I have not seen a lot a people talking about this.
SMS settings disappeared after I upgraded from Android 4.0.4 to 4.1.2. Hope they fix it soon. Reported it. If anyone knows how to fix, please tell us. Thanks.
I also have this issue and have been searching for a fix with no result. It is a direct result of an upgrade to a 4.1+ base from 4.0.x. I have tried modifying build prop values to see if facebook messenger was somehow disabling the feature based on android version but have not had any luck. What is curious is if you restore messenger from a backup made on a working ROM/device, it does enable the setting briefly and for a single use. Once the app realizes it's authentication is out of sync with Facebook main it requires you to resync and you will lose the feature again. I have found minimal forum posts about it, I believe some other devices are free from issue on 4.2.x though.
Hey together,
couldn't find an answer and the official WhatsApp support wasn't much of a help either, so here's my problem:
I'm using a HTC One, all stock, WhatsApp+ v.3.58 and SwiftKey 4.1.1.146.
Whenever I type something and want to add an emoticon, the Emoji window doesn't "replace" the actual keyboard. It just comes on top, which takes away a lot of space, is very inconvenient and forces me to first use the back button in order to send my message. When I minimize the keyboard and then press the emoji button, the layout looks fine.
I have tried it with the normal WhatsApp, the stock keyboard and also various versions of the respective software.I attached two screenshots, one is how it looks after I typed, the other one how it's actually supposed to look.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Updatet SwiftKey to newest version. Same problem
I got the same problem.
I'm using a Nexus 4, tried both the original whatsapp and whatsapp plus.
Stock keyboard and Swiftkey, nothing seems to solve the problem...
Someone found out what's wrong?
I have the same issue with my Nexus 4 and HTC One too.
I've managed to solve the problem by disabling "Pie Control". Not sure if this helps.
Use the official app, when I remember right this doesn't work with WA+ or try to change the hight of the emoji area to the stock value
Sent with my Orio running HTC One

Has ANYONE been able to get any keyboard working (not just installed, actually POP UP when it's needed)
I've tried all kinds of keyboards, but i cannot change the input method..
Following this, i tried several 'settings applications' (ripped SecSettings.apk from other Samsung Devices but that didn't work)
anyway, my Gear is rooted and running Smart Launcher Pro but here's what i want to do next:
Get ANY keyboard up and running.
Hijack the Bluetooth so i can use bluetooth tethering on my phone.
Hijack the home/power button so i can lock the screen.
also, has anyone got widgets on his (CUSTOM) launcher ? anytime i want to add a widget, the launcher (any launcher) crashes !

Google Keyboard ? which version ?
i installed it twice, 2 different versions and both installed just fine, but nothing happened when i tried to type something.. i used Chrome browser to test, so the URL textbox should've made the keyboard pop up ?
Edit:
just tried installing Google Keyboard again, and when i open the app, it won't let me past the 'setup wizard' (welcome to Google Keyboard etc... )
any hints ?

Heres a guide.
I've not been able to find original sources for "AA MIRROR", but have found someone's copy of something called "AA MIRROR PLUS" and have installed that:
Is the plus version a different product or new name for it?
Where can you go to always download the latest APK?
I also installed the latest version of "Phenotype Patcher" (rather than the version the instructions mentioned) which I found at "https://github.com/Eselter/AA-Phenotype-Patcher/tree/master/app/release".
I gave it a quick test (on my Ford SYNC 3 display) and my main issue with it is that it doesn't lock the screen orientation (I won't be looking for other issues unless I can solve this one). In portrait mode, the screen is too hard to read, seems I'd want to FORCE landscape mode (no matter how I drop/prop the phone)
Is this something you have to do separately outside of the mirror app?
I followed the instructions and changed AA MIrror Plus' "Screen rotation" and "rotation degree" to FORCE 90, whatever that means? Where can I find that out? I also tried other variations that also didn't seem to do anything.

AA Mirror Plus have some additional settings for screen but it doesn't work so it doesn't matter which one you install. Screen orientation was working fine in Android Oreo. In the Pie version there is a problem with these settings. Maybe not on all systems but I experienced this based on many tries on my Note 9.
Another issue is that on Samsung phones with Pie there is a problem with screen mirroring (black screen issue) and there is another version of AA Mirror to support ScreenStream all to solve that issue (you can find detail info on separate XDA thread).
In terms of orientation issue I just put the shortcut on launcher desktop to change the orientation manually (force landscape or vertical one). I created it using Tasker app (you can find it in Play Store). The same for restoring screen size and density (another icon prepared in Tasker to restore normal settings when the screen is dettached from car system).

I've got the that exact problem as I've the Note 9 with Pie! I've been searching around the place the last week or so and haven't been able to find anything except this reference to the solution. Could you please do me a favour and pass on the link for the solution? I would appreciate it so much. Thank you!
If i would be using aamirror with screenstream on note9 with pie on it, would i still have touch functionality on the car's touchscreen? I guess not?

Yesterday i installed aa mirror and aa mirror plus with my oneplus one Pie. i had the same issue with the plus version so i changed to the normal version and it worked fine for me (orientation - force 90ยบ degrees).

Yes, of course. I have exactely the same config (as you know from other thread as we discussed ) - means: AA Mirror with ScreanStream on Note 9 with Pie and touch on the screen of car system is working with no problem at all.

The solution for that black screen issue on Android Pie is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78548457&postcount=383
In short words: you need modified AA Mirror (available from the link above) and ScreenStream app.
Regards!
The problem with Screen Stream is sadly the long latency time.
Hope that there will be a fix for pie in the future, so we don't need that sh*t any more and still use the phone without this lag.
I am using a U11 and Pixel 3aXL, it mirrors just fine but the touch screen does not work in the apps or the native launcher. Anybody have this issue and if so, what fixed it?
Thanks in advance.
