Part1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3013378
This article is (Part 2) second part of video boot animation tutorial on devices supporting mp4 exclusively on Android without use of PC/Windows.
If 1st boot animation mp4 is lengthy enough the next video need not load. The 2nd video is usually a loop for background apps to load during boot, meaning it gets replayed indefinitely until all apps load.
Requirements:
1. RAR app by GmbH (winrar creator) for Android
2. 2 small sized mp4 videos within supported resolution of your device.
3 Rooted phone.
4. ES file explorer app.
Steps:
1. Using ES file explorer Copy existing /system/media/bootanimation.zip to /sdcard/downloads (any backup directory)
2. Using RAR app delete existing mp4 from /system/media/bootanimation.zip
3. Add your 01_<AnyFileName>.mp4 and
02_<AnyFileName>.mp4 by going to Advanced tab setting Compression level as STORE.
4. Using ES file explorer rename permissions of bootanimation.zip to -rw-r--r--
5. Reboot enjoy video with sound.
6. Hit Thanks.
Works for me in Moto G 4.4.4. Let me know your devices compatibility. Will add working bootanimation to this thread soon.

My findings:
* Even when bootanimation.zip deleted in /system/media the Moto G boots with a simple beautiful boot animation
* Even when <02_AnyFileName>.mp4 is deleted Moto G loads firsts video and boots.
* I guess Moto G is fault tolerant toward desc.txt file contents as video loads.
* description file can be named desc.txt or videodesc.txt boot animation still works.
We can try out any other name to see if it works. May be moto g expects just a text file for description.
Custom Gionee Phone Advt boot animation sample with audio video flashable via cwm
http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/1/view/ao652ebu0z5nhpd/gioneebootani.zip
The original video mode is landscape but Moto G converts it to Portrait. Try it. All the best.

I've noticed we don't have a lot of boot sound options in our forum, so I'm just making my own. Anyway, this site will convert almost any format to ogg http://media.io/ so, you can do it yourself. I've just been taking ringtones and such and converting them. 9 to 12 seconds lonh seems to work. I've attached a sample, (it's a little longer than optimum). Just unzip, to a convenient location. These instructions are for files you've converted, sample file is already properly named.
1) Using your file manager browse to system >media> audio> ui> PowerOn.ogg
2. Rename the file PowerOn.ogg to PowerOn.bak*
3. Browse to the location of the ogg you want as your new boot sound.
4. Make sure it is named PowerOn.ogg
5. Copy it to system > media>audio> ui> PowerOn.ogg
6. Reboot and enjoy
* Linux is case sensitive so the power on sound must be PowerOn.ogg with uppercase P and O

in this Tutorial you will learn how to make Your name as your bootanimation the steps are very simple and nooby friendly
PROCEDURE :
First root your device and open es file explore and granted ES root permissions
open path (device or emulated/system/media
copy bootanimation.zip/bootaudio.zip and paste it in sdcard
extract bootanimation.zip you will see some folders named part0, part1, and desc.txt
open desc.txt and copy the resolution of yours default resolution helps in creating same sizes of bootanimations that you are making its written in first line like 800x480
now start a blank project on Picsart with same resolution that You copied from desc.txt
Please Note: The animation that you see on while booting on your device all depends on the style of your Drawing that you are making
some have circular, spiral, in out all depends on your drawing
now select Color of background and apply some cool and creative backgrounds for your bootanimation
after that write your name on them with different styles or different colors made minium of 25 jpgs or pngs.. with different colors combination
after that save them with extension jpg or png
now create a folder named part0 and place all your pics that you created
You can also use batch image convertor to resize them
Now again we need our default bootanimation that we extracted there are also same folder named part0
open the folder and copy the name of pics it must be as X00000
Go back to your working folder and rename all you pics with default name that is in your default bootanimation
now save them after that create a new file desc.txt in your working folder and edit it with es note editor
Tricky Part started here all the things that you written in desc.txt will affect your bootanimation
First write Resolution of device xxx X xxx
after that write frames (easy say speed of bootanimation) it should be like this xxx X xxx xx without any spaces
on next line write p 1 0 part0
to under stand what is p 1 0 please consider to this po Post
now if you want your animation will shows repeatedly write 10 times p 1 0 part0
the more you write the more it will repeated and may affect boottime
now save file as desc.txt ..
and the final flash after all done select your part0 folder and desc.txt and compressed it by using es file explore or easy unrar
NoTe : compression level should be STORE or No compression
All Done you jus created your first bootanimation without PC.....
To check your bootanimation open rom tool box and load your bootanimation file as preview it will shows up
To set as your created bootanimation as your default press install intead of preview
Hope its is the noob friendly and easiest guide on Xda
thanks all
TIP: You can also make any video as your bootanimation just use video to image converter for jpgs n repeat above steps
Here some random animation that i make

Bro the bootanimation.zip should be compressed in store format
The es file explorer compresses it in normal format
And hence the bootanimation doesnt work
Any way to compress that in store format without pc?
Got it
My fault
Nice tut
Hi to all
I want to create some bootanimations converting gif images to mp4 files, I replace it in /system/media/; 0644 permissions but nothing works. This zip attached was extracted out of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/themes-apps/boot-logo-animation-fall-motorola-t2899194
I just replace both mp4 videos and no success. Could anyone test it and tell me what am I doing wrong? Or tell me how to properly create a decent bootanimation for moto g 2014 xt1064?
Salu2.
i dont think you need to convert it into video to make it work .
The guide for making boot animation is given here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096068
More over just try by creating bootanimation.zip with store as compression mode
Visit bhoot.co.uk. there you can submit your .gif and get a flashable zip for your boot animation!
thank yo for both answers, this zip actually works as a flashable one, I just wanted to use mp4 file instead of png frames since Motorola used the first file for its stock bootanimations (I think for quality reasons), @benmathews gave me a clue for my mistake that was on compression method, I used store and it work flawless. Thanks 2 both men
