Hi guys, I'm experiencing a message "error updating binary zip" thing while trying to flash a liquid smooth rom on my nexus 6. Please help me. Thanks
You might need to update TWRP; what version do you have installed? It should be listed at the top in recovery.

Download this App from PlayStore and you'll be able to find the latest TWRP here It'll automatically flash the recovery and give a try to flash the ROM again
Tried it now and I still have the error while flashing. My version is 2.8.5

Dear HTC One users,
I have Rooted and S-OFFed HTC J One (japan verion of HTC One)
Recently i have tried to install new CM11 ROM, but I am getting error below with different recoveries.
Code:
error executing updater binary in zip
Code:
this package is for m7wlj devices this is dlx
I have tried CWM and TWRP. I have also tried other CM11 verisions
Can anyone please help with troubleshooting these errors? It seems like the package is checking if it is being installed on a correct device, and fails to pass the check for some reason. Maybe there is a way to disable this?
I have also tried to sideload via adb sideload, but I am getting exactly same errors.
Thank you

Have you tried installing on latest TWRP or CWM like TWRP 2.7.1.1?
Helo,
Thanks for reply. Yes I have tried TWRP 2.7.1.1 - same error unfortunately....
maybe no matter which recovery i use, it thinks my device is not m7wlj and thus refuses to install.
Anyone with similar problem?

Just one bmp....
First let me say that I'm new to xda developers and I'm not that knowledgable when it come to android.
I am trying to install the latest version of Dirty Unicorns (v4.4.4) rom for htc m7 at&t. Every time I attempt to install the ROM I get an error; with CWM I get "error in /temp/update.zip (Status 0)", with twrp I get "E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/update.zip". I get this error with both sideloading the zip and installing the zip from the sd card. Right now I have TWRP v2.8.0.0 installed as my recovery. Before that I tried it with clockwork recovery it was the latest but I have forgotten the exact version. I have cleared both the dalvic cache and the cache as well as formatting the old operating system off the phone. Does anyone know what is going on and how to maybe get this ROM on my phone?

Hi all,
I have a bit of a problem here, whenever I try to flash a .zip file in Cyanogen Recovery (CM12) it says: E: signature verification failed. Installation aborted.
Does anyone know how to solve it?
Thanks in advance!

I had that issue with the same recovery on a number of zips. Have you considered using another recovery?

Yes I did, noone seems to be able to answer this question, so I'm going to plan B.
I would like to know how I can install TWRP over the CM12 recovery again, because when I flash the TWRP .img file with fastboot, it replaces my whole CM12 Rom.
Could someone explain to me how I can keep both CM12 + TWRP recovery?
Thanks in advance!

It replaces your Rom with what exactly
Try formatting the FOTAKernel either using xperia recovery manager or flashtool and then flash twrp/cwm and report back.

I had the same problem. And i got permission denied when flashing fotakernal in flashboot mode.
I solved it by using "[ROOT] Rashr - Flash" Tool.It is in google play.
I got the update for 5.1.1 but when I pressed install, it took me to twrp recovery and did not install anything. I tried to manually flash it but it showed error executing updater binary. Then I flashed cwm recovery and tried again but I got the same error. PLEASE HELP ME!!
Btw i am rooted.

I am trying to flash the 7.1.1 AOSP-CAF ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/aosp-caf-6-0-t3284309/page50) on my Moto G 2014. When I try to install this ROM, it gives an error : Error executing updater binary zip in data/media/zip.( even though the zip file is in the SD card).
I googled it found that some threads suggest updating Custom Recovery or updating the Binary script. but I don't know the exact process to do that.
I am a noob so please help me out here!

Take scrrenshots and send.(snaps can be taken in TWRP as same as normal screenshots in Android)
Nevermind. I updated the TWRP and it worked fine after that.
