Dualboot Galaxy S4 mini duos with Patcher. - Galaxy S 4 Mini Android Development

I am very happy to present first dualboot project for gt i9192. This original patcher is made by chenxiaolong and you can find original thread on gt i9505 original android development section. I only made some changes to original patcher. Big thanks to chenxiaolong for his awesome work.
I will not be responsible for your device to be bricked. Please proceed on your own risk.
Note : If you want to dualboot Touchwiz ROM with custom ROM please keep TW ROM as primary one. Also you have to debloat it to make space in /system partition for secondary rom. You can check the size of/system partition by diskinfo pro app attached in zip file.
Procedure : 1) First of all download the zip file attached below.
2) Boot in to primary ROM and install dualboot patcher app.
3) Open the app and set kernel as primary kernel.
4) Now patch the secondary ROM using dualboot patcher software on PC. ( do not patch using dualboot patcher app installed in primary ROM).
5) Reboot into recovery.
6) Flash the patched zip file for secondary ROM ( don't wipe anything just flash zip file).
7) Reboot.
8) You will boot in secondary ROM. Now install dualboot patcher app in secondary ROM.
9) Set current kernel for secondary ROM.
That's it. Now you can boot in either ROM by switching the ROM using dualboot patcher app and reboot.
The zip files to be flash for primary ROM need not to be patched but that for secondary ROM must be patch before flashing. To wipe data, cache, dalvik cache don't wipe through recovery directly. Flash the dualboot utilities zip file attached below in recovery. You will get to menu that let's you wipe the respective partition of either ROM. The normal nandroid backup will backup both primary and secondary ROM. To backup individual ROMs please see original thread by chenxiaolong.
Unfortunately android 5.0 ROMs are not supported by this patcher app.
For i9190/9195 users please install diskinfo pro app and check partition numbers if they are as below then you can directly use the patcher app and software.
system= mmcblk0p21
cache= mmcblk0p22
data= mmcblk0p24
If these are different then just change respective number using notepad++ as per your device partitions and you can use the patcher. You can also patch files manually for secondary ROM but autopatcher is much easy. The method is given in original thread by chenxiaolong.
So enjoy dualbooting and give me thanks if you like my work.

Well done sanesh, will use and let you know the report, kindly try to add support for 'lollipop' also in coming days.

I confirm that it's working.
Details later
Edit : Details :
1)Primary: Samsung modded v2.5 by adityapal & others. Deleted many system apps and free space increased to 403 mb.
2)Installed DualBootPatcher and set kernel as primary.
3)Flashed CM11 by k2wl after patching it in PC. Device booted and found 23mb space left still now.
4)Installed DualBootPatcher and set CM11 kernel as secondary.
5)Can boot to any ROM from dualbootpatcher app.
6)Need to free some more space to flash Gapps CM11 after patching.
7)Made a Nandroid backup. A pretty large file.
8)Need to flash Dualbootutilities now.
Problems:
Cant patch chainfire supersu for upadting second ROM. The PC patcher goes into error.
Thanks to Sanesh to give us another thing to play with. Waiting for its update to become compatible with CM12 now.
A debloated flashable default Samsung ROM which will leave minimum 500mb system space free is welcome.

The basic idea of patcher is to patch META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script file. The updater-script file in supersu zip and some gapps packages is dummy file, so it cannot be patched by this patcher. I have tested it with different custom ROMs but only in Mokee AOSP ROM gapps package is installed. If you want supersu app in secondary ROM just download its latest apk file and install it then update its su-binary when prompted.

@sanesh
Just did that what you said in your last sentence. It was the only way left. Successfully patched and flashed gapps too. Everything running well till now

Check all boxes in setting of diskinfo app. You will see system partition with number mmcblk0p21. You must clean some space in this partition by debloating present rom. To know how much memory you have to clean, simply extract secondary ROM zip file in PC. The amount of space acquired by extracted rom, you have to clean in system partition.
Sorry for my bad English.

Have a Doubt.........
Hi,
You said, that if i want to install a custom rom over TW ROM then i have to keep the TW ROM as primary...
But my doubt is, i am already in a cm 11 based ROM, should i install another CM 11 ROM or CM 10.2 ROM over the first one by keeping the first cm 11 as primary and the another one as secondary...
Should i do the above, does it cause any problems..????
Will it works???????!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????
Please tell me buddy...............................

I think it won't create any problem. Only the secondary ROM and gapps need to be properly psyche patched. @sanesh
Is the dual boot patcher (android and PC) updated for cm12?

Hei friend can u link me for 9195 project
Thanks

Hello friends, nice to meet you once again.
Xda senior member Chenxiaolong has made nice app Dualboot Patcher that makes our device dualboot or multiboot for lollipop based roms.
You can view the original thread here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447534
Only remember to install TouchWiz rom as primary rom.
Procedure :
Download latest version of the app from here, https://snapshots.noobdev.io/
Install the app in primary rom and open it.
Go to Roms and set the kernel.
Now patch your favorite custom rom( you may patch it as secondary or for data slot).
Flash the patched zip through recovery( or you may install it from the app inbuilt function).
Reboot your phone, install Dualboot Patcher app in secondary rom and set the kernel.
You may install multiple roms in data slot. Also download dualboot utilities zip from above link and keep its copy in sdcard ready to use.
For I9190 and I9195 users simply unzip the rom before patching, go to build.prop in system folder and change
ro.product.device=serranods
Then zip the rom, patch it and then flash.
So friends enjoy multiboot and hit thanks if you like this post ☺☺?.

Nice! Will definitely give this a try on my I9195 LTE.

I have this working great on my i9195 LTE running debloated scStock and latest build of CM11 with the latest security fixes using small gapps package.
Had to alter the line "ro.product.device=serranolte" to "serranods" in build prop for primary ROM to set the kernel. And also the patched secondary ROM had to be flashed with the dual boot app otherwise from recovery you have to edit the ROM mod script to ignore phone version as it was originally compiled for the i9192.
But working great here using slimmed down ROMs. Now I have the best of both worlds, having stock features and app compatibility, while being able to use other ROM as my daily driver. And with one click of a shortcut and a reboot I'm able to switch very quickly. This is probably the best dual boot mod I've tried with a wide range of compatibility.
Having one issue though I'm unable to flash F4K's kit kat kernel patched or by including it within the ROM itself. Both methods normally work with this kernel under a normal single ROM installation. Apart from this is good stuff.

WARNING: BESURE YOU ARE UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER BEFORE FLASHING/DOWNGRADING FIRMWARE!
It's nearly 11 months since the last update v1.2. Now I will introduce the new version of Myth Tools with a big improvement.
Thanks to all your comments which helps me to complete the features of Myth Tools. All feedbacks are always welcome.
Please read instruction carefully before using. Thank you.

If you stucks after flashing back to stock rom from custom rom, maybe this method should help you to fix it:
Credit for skeevydude
The fix is simple. Boot into Philz, format the internal sd, set the internal sd mount point to /data/media, reboot, format it again, and done. I'm assuming you don't keep anything important on the internal sd...
The issue is multiuser support in 4.2+ roms screws with our 4.1 stock roms. 4.2+ uses /data/media/0 for the main user's "internal sd" then /data/media/1 then /data/media/2 and so on and so forth for each additional user. You don't have to format, but if you were on Carbon, only changed the mount point, flashed to stock, then later down the line you install CM or Slim, your crap from Carbon will still be there under /data/media/0 and could cause issues with the newer rom.
EDIT:
A format of /data might fix this too, but you'll still have to check and/or change the mount point. The internal sd is stored on /data.

This tool is created by The Myth Team for Motorola Atrix HD
All comments to help improving tools are always welcome!
-----------------------------------------------------------
MAIN PARTS:
1. Installer ADB/FASTBOOT/APKTOOL for AHD (Use for parts below and further modding)
2. Flashing Tools for stock firmwares (compatible with ICS/JB of AT&T, BELL and Mexico AHD;
include options for installing CWM recovery, no needs to care about editing xml any more, just put firmware into our tools and it will do for you)
3. Flashing Recovery
4. Rooting Tools (Motochopper - By Dan Rosenberg; it's combined here to bring the convinience for users after
installing stock firmwares)
5. Unlocking Bootloader Tools (Motopocalypse - By Dan Rosenberg; it's combined here with the same target as
rooting tools but it's necesary for users who want to flash other carrier's firmwares on their AHD)
6. Dowload Motorola USB Driver (Lastest driver)
7. Lockscreen Mod
8. Mod for ADBD Insecure
EXTRA PARTS:
4 Quick reboot Options
------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO USE:
1. For the installer, just select option and it will open a new window, select Install button and it will install adb/fastboot/apktool to your windows. If your windows dont allow to install (due to UAC control), u can select installer in /tools folder and run it under administration mode. With this installer, u dont need sdk-platform anymore to use adb or fastboot. Just need to have JDK and it will run normally.
2. To flash stock firmware, you only have to download stock firmware (*.zip file) and put it in 'firmware' folder then run our tools. Follow its instructions and options to finish the flash process. Dont need to edit xml files and No more worries about failure with RSDLite. We have tested all firmwares of AHD (ICS 4.0.4, JB 4.1.1, 4.1.2 of Bell, AT&T, Mexico Retail) with our tools and they worked.
3. Option allows users to install cwm recovery or custom recovery (it's up to users). To flash custom recovery, you can place recovery image (*.img) to 'recovery folder and run the tools.
4,5. This is popular and famous tools by Dan Rosenberg. I think I dont need to explain again
6. This is link for Driver on Motorola site. Just in case you miss it or need to install again.
7. It provides a various theme for lockscreen of stock firmware by modding framework
8. It will mod automatically the boot.img to allow the true adb root with adb command (eg. "adb remount" to full read-write system..). It mainly is useful for stock firmware while custom rom always has.

[MOD][23 MAY] MultiROM v32

Hello guys!
After learing a lot from these great devs arround here i decided to start to try out a new project! Multirom!!
You might or might not have heared of it, THE multi-boot mod for the Nexus 7. I found it and have decided to port it for our device.
First of all, it is a very initial release now. Though I have tested multiple cases and didn't find any problem except those in the bug list, bugs can arise. Do have a backup! Also, do read through the whole OP and 2nd post! If you don't understand something, rather read again and/or ask!
For more information on how it works and what it does, I suggest that you read the first few posts in the original thread. Those are very detailed and well-written posts that explain MultiROM in general. Installing roms to USB and Ubuntu/Ubuntu Touch of course doesn't work for our device atm.
Installation
The device must not be encrypted!
You need to flash the modified TWRP recovery that has MultiROM extensions. My version is based on the latest sources with gordon0001's device-specific modifications included. You can keep this recovery if you don't want to use MultiROM anymore and you like TWRP, because the MultiROM extensions don't interfere with other functions, even if the boot sector is not injected.
You have to flash a kernel that is capable of Kexec-hardboot.
Links
You can find everything at https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=32204.
multirom-20150521-v32-UNOFFICIAL-p880.zip : The multirom zip
CM12_Kernel_Patched.zip : CM 12 Kernel with Kexec-Hardboot Patch ; Thanks to @Adam77Root the patch and @laufersteppenwolf for building Kernel
multirom_uninstaller.zip : Selfexplaining
Known Bugs
-Reboot to recovery doesn't work.
-UI has some graphical bugs
-Double Press to boot Secondary Rom doesnt work -> Press twice on the Rom you want to boot and press Powerbutton at the same time till you recoginze a vibration
-You tell me more

Status: Testing

Explanation
In the next two examples, I will refer any official, unofficial, or CM-based roms as CM. Keep this in mind.
I use the word 'injected', because MultiROM is actually injected into the boot partition. It works on any kernel that is capable of doing Kexec-hardboot (and if you don't want to use different kernel (i.e. you will use kernel sharing), it will work on unpatched kernels as well).
I may refer to non-shared kernel method as Kexec(-hardboot) method
Example scenario of multi-booting CM with CM and kernel sharing
You are on CM with MultiROM-capable recovery, patched kernel and MultiROM-injected and you want to install e.g. CarbonRom as second.
Boot into TWRP, navigate to Advanced->MultiROM and select 'Add ROM'. Since the base rom is CM, you can share the same kernel. It will be faster as there will be no hardboot needed.
The installation steps are easy and it doesn't take more time than a normal installation.
Example scenario of multi-booting CM with CM and different kernel
You are on CM with MultiROM-capable recovery, patched kernel and MultiROM-injected and you want to install e.g. CarbonRom as second.
Boot into TWRP, navigate to Advanced->MultiROM and select 'Add ROM'. Select 'Don't share'.
Continue with installation.
Now, since the target kernel (that is installed with the rom) is very likely not patched, you will have to flash one of my linked kernels to that rom. Do this by selecting 'List roms', selecting the desired rom, than 'Flash ZIP' and flashing one of the kernels I have patched.
You can only share kernels if you are on the same Android version for example 5.0.x!

That error with executing bla bla bla is rom related!
I already have TWRP 2.8.6.0 installed. To use your MultiROM Mod do I just need to flash MultiROM zip? Or do I need to flash recovery img (I found in your link)?
Will the uninstall zip send me back directly to the Stock TWRP 2.8.6.0?
__________________________________________
It works. But I'm getting the same problem as @mater2.
"error executing updater binary in zip '/tmp/mr_update.zip";
I tried latest BlissPop 3.4 and Euphoria 1.1.
If it is ROM related how can we solve it?
I saw some users reporting the same problem with the Nexus 5. They said the problem was on the "updater-script" of the ROM.
Thanks for your work and attention.

I tried Werewolf kernel. The answer is no [emoji17].

@gugu6897 @CrazyWinner
the kernel in this post (patched kernel) only can used for multiboot.
when use patched kernel
maybe you will have bug with sim internet with all roms except blissbob.
every thing else work good
@CrazyWinner, looks like iodak (and mourta too) has kexec-hardboot, but my secondary ROM (MIUI v5) don't boot. I double tap it, but the device just power off.
Does someone know any ROM that works with MultiROM?

+1
I just discover the win tool Extractor 2.4 from @Alexey71 , as I didn't succeed to get finish compiling mmb 5.1.1.37 (or 29), I played with @csk1jw 2xAosp LP &MM system.new.sdat:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57742855&postcount=42
extraction + re-zip(boot.img+file_contexts +/system/) in @laufersteppenwolf Nameless 5.1.zip + twrp’ add 2nd multirom + reboot and IT JUST WORKS!
I can now multiboot, WITH Nameless 5.1 AS PRIMARY: mmb 5.1 as 2nd+
cm11+OEMlg JB (+ BlisspopLP+ crdoidLP).
Many thanks to native kexeced Nameless’ kernel for LP!
Unfortunately’ the re-zipped aosp MM did not boot (boot.img conflict? or primary slot required with kexec.. or I miss more).
I believe there won’t be any future update on mmbLP, so it will be good if, @csk1jw or @MoltenMotherBoard or @streambinder could make an old_fashion-zipped official ultimate edition to be used with gorgeous @fritzcola ’ multirom 2.8.6 .
Also if they explain me how to bake it, patched with microG, i try wakelockblocker's patch for a better battery control in ‘pure’ FLOSS.
I still hope that, in this combination, some could give a try to my infamous nightly-cm11+3; while waiting for a snappy MM snapshot...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...kelock-blocker-official-2016-nightly-t3393825
Basics multirom tips;
-If you think something is wrong, like battery drain or excessive reboot: in twrp menu go to advanced menu then fix permissions and re-flash multirom32 on primary rom before rebooting;
-Always use ext sdcard for twrp’s copy-backup and avoid using twrp’s File Manager to restore, otherwise they could be buried and waste your mem until a complete re-format; if needed: boot in primary rom (or install a rom ZIP!) and copy them to sdcard/twrp/backup/IdDevice… with your favorite apk.
-For better efficiency use native kexeced Nameless 5.1 for primary rom.
Actually I don’t know if mmb5.1 is 100% compatible with @laufersteppenwolf ‘s Nameless 5.1_kernel.
Be aware that the smell of night roasted marshmallows is scientifically attracting werewolves.

Hi guys,
I made a fashable zip of this rom and im uploading it right now.. approximately in 1 hour it will be finished, then ill share it
@khmerupdate, i need to know if this rom is a 4.4.4 or 4.3 build? in the screenshots it shows 4.3, but in the OP it is stated as 4.4.x?
and what kernel do you use for this rom? i included the kernel that was present in the odin flashable, but im not so sure about the kernel, i dont want anyone to have a bricekd phone because of me, although it is the kernel you provide in your odin flashable package..
im asking these to be sure the flashable zip is safe to flash for the i9300 users, i do not have an i9300 so i cant do tests to make sure, as long as i dont get answers to these questions i cannot share the zip file i uploaded.
according to your answers, im gonna make changes in the flashable zip i made or not, safety goes first !
fake !
This ROM 4.3 ! 4.4.4 not ! Do not download not safe
But this rom is 7z package. Is twpr recovery can flash 7z package?

Here is the flashable zip of this rom for the i9300, GT-I9300-4.4.4-Note4-V1-KU.zip
Only change i made is that i changed the kernel to boeffla 5.8 stable for JB i9300 and also added the boeffla config app, nothing else that i changed in the rom.
- no modem is included, so you will keep your modem
- and FYI this is a odexed rom
Rom is now safe to flash for i9300 users, just dont forget to make a nandroid backup of your current system and do a wipe data/factory reset in recovery before flashing if you decide to try it.
in any case im not responsible for anything bad that might happen!!!

Its different, its use scatter to be readed at flash tool, and cant be readed in recovery. So, you need to use TWRP.
And for the android one problem. It has different partition with infinix rom. If you flash it on android one, your system will not get mounted.

Partition table issue can be fixed if the fstab.mt6580 is properly edited in recoveries.
The same way, the android scatter file can be modded to match the android one version.
The things that really matter in ROM porting are the ARCH, the CPU and the android version.

I still think it will be be very difficult to make this
ROM fit into Android one partition by flashing it
Through TWRP recovery.
The size it occupies on the system partition after the zip
Is installed is about 1.96Gb which is bigger than the
Android one FIRMWARE system partition.
If there's a way to re write the script to reformat the
/system partition to make it larger then no problem.
I've used Android one partition to restore my full
Backup done in Infinix 5.1 Rom and vise versa but the
Content of both backup for the system partition
were not more than 1.6Gb
Anyways, am really enjoying this ROM
I got SOT of 5 hours and I was using as a hotspot for
My Samsung galaxy note 2
Rooted with xposed and greenify installed.

Is the rom deodexed ?
And I think both devices partitions can be modded by editing the EBR files (EBR1 & EBR2). There is a tool that can do that automatically, but I am not sure it will work on MT6580 because the new MTK CPUs are a bit different.
In fact,
MTK Kitkat ROMs and bellow kitkat have the "MTK" header (i.e MTK ROM format).
But, MTK devices that comes with LP 5.x have "STD" header (i.e Standard ROM format).
Thus, most tools for MTK won't work on the new cpus files.

Your warranty is now void.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Requirements:
1. TWRP
2. A ROM to patch
3. DualBootPatcher app
What does the app do ?
It patches...
Kernel's ramdisk for dual boot support
ROMs so that they can be installed as secondary
Google Apps packages for AOSP-based ROMs
SuperSU so that it can be used in the secondary ROM
How to use the App ?
Note:
- Some roms like Infinix 5.1 make External Storage the default disk. That also removes the writing access to the Internal storage. So, any attempt to install a secondary ROM to /data/media will likely fail. The solution is to remove your external storage (SD Card), install the rom and put it back (unless you want to install to the external storage itself).
1) Download, install and open the app
2) Swipe to the right to open the menu. Click "ROMS". Now if this is the first time you use it, it will ask you if you want to set kernel. Do so!
Note:
You might see something like "mbtool rejected connection" blablablabla, Just click OK or Continue!
3) Now swipe again and click on "Patch Zip". Click the big add (+) button and select "Add Flashable Zip" and select the ROM you want to patch and use as Dual/Multiboot.
3) Select your device in the first drop down menu. Then select the partition configuration (see more details below for this) in the next drop down menu. I suggest you choose either "Data slot" or "Extsd slot". Give a random number where it states "Enter an ID".
4) Click continue and select where to save the patched file.
5) You should see the file is being put in "Queue". Just click the confirm button to the upper right.
Note: If you want to go back, just swipe the ROM in queue to right and start over.
6) The app will patch the zip. When done, go back to "ROMs".
7) Click "Flash zip files" (the big button on the lower right). Click the plus button to add your previously patched zip file.
8) Locate the file you have patched in step 6. Unless you have changed the name there, it should be something like ROM_name_partition_config_ID.zip (like Cyanogenmod-12.1_20160724_d5110_infinix_data-slot-2.zip).
9) Click on that file and choose "Keep location". Now confirm the flash with the button on the upper right side.
Note: You can also install the patched zip files in recovery.
10) Upon finition, click back and you should see your newly installed ROM along with the Primary ROM.
Note: You can find more options by clicking on the three buttons on each ROM.
Partitions Configurations:
These are places where you can install secondary roms. In our case, I'm affraid it's limited to DATA SLOTS and EXTSD SLOTS. Which means you can only install roms to your Data partition (pratically your internal storage) and your SD Card.
Primary: This is normally used for installing a zip to the primary ROM. It is not required, but is strongly recommended because it has code to prevent the zip from inadvertently affecting other ROMs. This one installs to the System partition slot.
Dual: Dual/Secondary is the first multiboot installation location. It installs to the system partition. This is a good spot for installing a second ROM because it doesn't take any space away from the internal storage. Our HOT 2 system partition size is about 2.5GB on Infinix ROM. You can probably install two light ROMs (like cyanogenmod and its variants) to it. But I haven't tested it.
Multi-slots: There are 3 multislots: multi-slot-1, multi-slot-2, multi-slot-3. These install to the cache partition. This is specifically for devices, like the Galaxy S4, that have a massive cache partition. Our HOT 2's cache partition is about 250MB which is not enough to install a rom on.
Data-slots: There can be an unlimited number of data slots. These install to the data partition and eat up space on the internal storage. This is useful for devices where the system partition is nearly full and the cache partition is tiny. These slots are named "data-slot-[id]", where "id" is something you provide in the app.
Extsd-slots: Same as the above, but it installs the ROMs to your external SD. Make sure you have backed up your data first!
Other how to ?
Wipe /cache, /data, /system, or dalvik-cache?
The easiest way is to do it from the app while booted in another ROM. Just go to "Roms" in the navigation drawer, tap the 3 dots options menu for the ROM you want to wipe, and tap "Wipe ROM".Update the primary ROM?
Patch the zip for primary and flash it. The "primary" installation target is designed so that other ROMs won't be affected when you want to flash something for the primary ROM.Update a non-primary ROM?
Patch and flash the zip exactly like how you did it the first time.Flash a mod or custom kernel for the primary/non-primary ROM?
Patch it for primary before flashing. If the zip does not wipe /cache, it is also safe to flash it directly.

@RendyAK I want to install lineage OS 13 on the dual partition. My primary ROM is XOS ROM by Mysteragr. The free space of system partition is 768.8mb. What I want to know is that will the data and cache portion be installed on the /system or on the /data partition?

How? I try it on Infinix Stock ROM and XOS ROM(by Mysteragr) the ramdisk refuse to be updated. This prevent app sharing on the stock and XOS ROM. So how can I make the ramdisk to be updated on the stock and XOS ROM?

I know this very well. I notice you are using two custom ROM. I'm using one stock and the other custom ROM. XOS ROM a and Remix resurrection ROM. Look at the screenshot below. The primary ROM is XOS ROM. It refuse app sharing and ramdisk update. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/591757e6b93da/Screenshot_2017-05-13_194050.jpg?

Okay this is new.
If you're using Infinix Hot 2, try using the official instead, dont use my build
Edit: Also if you're in MM, can you give me the full path to by-name folder in /dev?
Edit 2: also make sure you select the correct partition scheme!
My default ROM is XOS ROM v4 by Mysteragr. I'm using the official app "DualBootPatcherAndroid-9.2.0.r88.g35a35a6-snapshot.apk". I don't understand the /Dev path you are talking about.

The infinix stock rom can have its ramdisk updated. I'm using the latest XOS version 5 yet I still experience the same problem. I can update the ramdisk of infinix stock rom is 5.1 and share applications data across the rom but it's not possible on XOS as the ramdisk refuse to be updated.
