Has anyone been able to activate the native call recording on CM12 nightly (2015-02-18)?
I've run
Code:
adb shell setprop persist.call_recording.enabled true
adb shell setprop persist.call_recording.src 4
And rebooted. The values are still there, but the call record button doesn't show up in the UI. Is there anywhere else I need to enable it?
I'm able to use Boldbest Recorder without issue - and it's legal for me to record my personal calls in my country.
can i ask why would u use cm12 on this?
Not being funny at all just wondering
Why? I like Trebuchet, I can remove apps I don't use (no bloatware), better customisation like centre clock, access to the notification LED, button placement to put the back button on the right - and adding cursor control to the button bar - and I find that it runs faster & smoother.
Now, does anyone know how to activate the native call recorder?
oky no worries i have just ordered this my first nexus so was just wondering is all
Hope u get it sorted

Are you sure the kernel supports it?
I don't know much about the whole process, but it might be a feature that is half baked for the N6? Akin to the first few harmon/karden ports to non-Sprint M8s.
As I mentioned, the Boldbeast call recorder works fine. The nightly release logs look like they support recording.

Call recording feature is actually enable-able on a device basis. I think it depends on the actual hardware of your phone, sound routing etc. etc.
For example, I have bacon and the feature is available only since 20150401:
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/90821/
You'd better check on http://www.cmxlog.com/12/shamu/ for a green item stating "shamu" and "call recording".
I hope this can help.
You are right, not long after, someone ported it to Shamu. I then found the code where it's disabled by default.
I didn't get a chance to try it in cm12 before 5.1 came out.
I'm back on stock for now.

Dear XDA members,
I really need all your help. I've searched a lot, but there isn't an answer I'm looking for. And some things are bit too technical for me as I'm new to android. So I'm trying to set up recording my calls on my S3 Mini. First of all, I've tried every single free app that is on Google Play Store. And with those apps, I've also tried all the settings, trust me. All I could hear was my voice. My opponents voice was very very low. Lower than whispering so I could hardly hear a thing.
So recently I researched and Rooted my phone via VRoot. Went flawlessly. However, now it's not recording at all! For example, I made a call. After the call ends I go to the recording app and I see that it shows me its recorded. However, its actually not recorded. Its just a file created which is 32 bytes. No more. Sometimes 66+- Bytes. So it doesn't record at all anymore after I rooted it. I've tried with so many recording apps and still doesn't work at all.
Is the call recording feature blocked? If yes, is there any way to unblock it? I do not want to install a custom ROM, so please that answer is out the book. I'd like to keep the stock and enable automatic call recording. All answers are welcome please!
Thanks in Advance.
Call recording is disabled due to some law restrictions, so you need to modify yourself secphone.apk or download modified one or install xposed framework and call recording module. Guides are here, search.

Thank's a lot for the quick reply. I'll check out those options and give them a shot, starting with xposed framework. Then report back. Thanks again.
EDIT UPDATE: Thanks a heap bro! I didn't know I could use xposed framework to enable call recording. I thought the exposed framework only worked on ROM's. Because I flashed a call recording enabler tar file on my Note 3. Thanks again. Works 100%. Love Ya! (no homo).
@Gw|n I need a little quick help please. Apart from having secPhone.APK edited or having the recording module. Is there another way to automatically record calls? This is due to the fact that I keep forgetting to click the record button when having important calls. Is there something I can flash into my phone, so I can have 2-way clear recording sound. Then I can install any app available on PlayStore to allow automatic recording.
I don't know, I've never tried other apps. But these third party apps might have problem with direct recording.
I've used S Voice and Google for 4 days each and in my opinion S Voice is the clear winner. Here's my top 5:
1) S Voice has very reliable always-on service whereas Google occasionally will glitch and stop responding to the wake up command until I reboot the Note 4.
2) S Voice accepts way more commands.
3) S Voice can perform functions and execute them instead of just bringing you to them. For example if you say "wake me up at 6:30AM" it will set the alarm for you, whereas Google brings up the page and you have to click "set alarm."
4) S Voice has a funny AI. You can say "Will you marry me?" and it will reply with "I would make a terrible spouse" or say "yeah baby" and it will respond with "I'm not your baby." Funny stuff.
5) S Voice has more secure always-on service because it allows you to pick the wake command so you can make your command,"I like pie" and it will work, whereas Google currently only supports "OK Google" which everyone knows from the commercials, and if you want to set it to work even if your phone is locked, you want a wake command that people are less likely to know.
What have your experiences been thus far?
To be honest I haven't given S Voice a try yet. I was surprises than Google Now works because in Poland it had very little support, but now it let me set an alarm and everything, nice. But I can't set Google Now to wake the phone - for some reason the option for it is turned off, maybe S Voice will work like that.
The new pop-up window is nice too, any app will stay open and S-Voice just pops up and closes down. Makes more sense than opening up a whole new page. Quite accurate understanding English as well.
Oh, nice. Does it affect battery?
Nice to know they improved s voice. It used to be inferior to google voice on the note 3. I might give it a try again.

Nope. I had S Voice a and Google Now always listening and had no noticable effect on battery life. I didn't really use'em but it did come handy at one or two occasions. I think it's efficient operation comes down to that extra chip both the SD805 and I think the Exynos variant has.
I love the S-voice and wanna use it all the time but I wish I can pull up the S-voice anytime with voice. I know it's easy double tapping the home button but Google can be pulled up anywhere with voice.

So can s-voice. It's in the settings. You can also turn on voice wake while locked.
For voice to wake. In my experience, it only halfway works to. Maybe it's because I use a custom command...but voice rarely wake it up.

Maybe I'm missing it but the only option I can find is waking it up with voice while locked (voice wake-up option) nothing for when the screen is on, even on the home screen. The only way to pull it up is by double tapping home button.

Huh? Look at that picture I posted. Check that option, then say "hi galaxy" or whatever you set your command to be and it'll wake up. It doesn't work all that well when you use a custom command.

Thanks for posting those photos and instructions! But I already have both enabled even before I came to this post and it still would NOT take voice commands when you have the screen on, as in not on the lockscreen (or as I found out, also when you're using any app) but when you're in the home screen. Both those options are only for use when you're on the lockscreen or when the phone is sleeping. Now that I think about it, maybe it's because of my use of Nova Prime that's hindering the S-Voice to be invoked on the main home screen though...
The thing that i don't like is even though svoice turns on when i say hi galaxy, i still have to push the mic button to say my command. Google voice doesnt so that

You don't need to push the mic button to issue your command. If you ran out of time to say your command, all you have to do is to say your wake up phrase again and it should accept your voice command then.

Thanks! That works great. Love it!!
I use svoice for making calls through by bluetooth headset. It works much much much better than google voice. Google voice is no more than a joke when you have non-english names, whereas svoice still does a great job. Another thing I love with SVoice is that it also utilizes the nicknames in your adress book. So you can use either the full name or the nickname.
This is very interesting. I must admit I completely ignored S-Voice when I bought the Note 4, as it wasn't brilliant on the Note 3. I also had got so used to Google's voice functions which did impress.
I just caught this thread and whoa! Samsung really have made some great changes to S-Voice on the Note 4 and I think I might actually start using it a bit more. So thanks for posting your observations

I took the trouble to type out all the available S-Voice examples, along with a few added examples for UK or International users. I hope you find it useful.

Awesome stuff! Thanks man. This confirms my suspicions that you cannot use s-voice to switch on mobile hotspot
I've been using the Asus Zenfone Max M! Pro for almost a year now and there is one common problem that almost every Zenfone owner I knew has come across - the absence of call recording in the default phone app. This can be a serious annoyance especially if you're a person like me who tends to zone out during calls (or if you're super paranoid).
I tried a lot of apps from the play store, read multiple guides online =, bothered a lot of people with testing calls to FINALLY come up with this guide. Here, I now disclose the one app that worked for me, on my Zenfone Max M1 Pro (Stock ROM, no modifications).
If you want to enable call recording on your phone, download ACR (even the free version works) and grant it the necessary permissions to run. Then, simply start making calls and Voila!
All of the recordings will be saved in a folder of your choice. I'm recommending this app because it's the only one that worked (in my case at least). Other apps I tried were - Call recorder by Skyvalex, Automatic Call Recorder Pro (Similar name to this app, but doesn't work ), auto call recorder, cube call recorder and a couple others.
If there's any other app that worked for you, mention it's name in the thread below and I'll verify and include that in the post as well (with credits).
Hope you find this helpful. Hit the Thanks button below, if you do
Cheers!

It does NOT work as intended after the update to 'Pie'.
Please do let me know if any workaround to make 'ACR' to record voice of other party on a device running 'Android Pie'.

Android Pie and above call recording feature will not work unless the rom is rooted or it is custom built.
Hi, I have downloaded an app called Automatic call recorder by appliqato.
I used this app before with no problems on my previous phone (mi a1).
But for some reason, now it is recording but with no sound.
Any idea why?
Thanks a lot!
Maybe it worked on your older phone because it had an older android version. It appears goolag has decided that we won't be allowed to record our phone calls under android 10. That is until they change their mind.

Yes you are right, My old mi a1 was on android 8 when I used it.
do you know of any way of enabling it?
maybe with root?
or by downgrading android?
It's really important for me to record calls.
edit: I read a little bit and found this: https://www.boldbeast.com/forum/topic1877-android-10-call-recording.html
this app does work if you enable the accessibility setting, but for some reason, the other person is not as loud in the recording as he is when talking to him, but it's close enough so I will take it
Almost any custom MIUI ROM has such function by default.

You have to use the apk from the website, not the playstore app!
From the official boldbeast website:
No root needed, but special operation needed
In some countries in some phones, the call recording feature of Android 10 is disabled but Boldbeast Recorder can bypass the limits to enable it. Please:
- Confirm you are using Boldbeast Recorder V12.9 or a newer version.
- Tap "Settings - System - Accessibility" in your phone (not in Boldbeast), enable Boldbeast Call Recorder on the screen.
- Tap "Set Default Settings" in Boldbeast Recorder.
Then it works at once, both your voice and the caller's voice are loud and clear in recordings, no root needed.
For example, Android 10 phones like Galaxy S10, Note10 etc in many countries work great this way.
The voice of the other person on the line is a bit weak, but usable.
On my rooted phone, both voices are equally loud & crystal clear.

I have installed app (Boldbeast Recorder V12.9) from website but my recordings are empty... files are created but it's just silence when you play it back.
There are 12 Record Modes (1-7, 11-14 and Alsa Mode (Root)). What Mode should be used for Mi 9T Pro, MIUI Global 11.0.1?
I use record mode 12
Hi, I'm running stock Android 10 on my Note 9. One of the most annoying "features" is that incoming calls take up the whole screen with no possible means of dismissing, or switching to another app while its ringing. Often I don't want to send it to VM so I don't want to reject nor answer the call. I silence the ringer, I want to let it ring but I don't want to stare at the screen for the entire time its ringing. I have the show in pop up window enabled, but that only works if I have another app open. If a call just comes in when I don't have another app open, it obnoxiously takes over the phone with no options to do anything other than pressing either the red or green call buttons. Is there a way to change this behavior or can I install another dialer app and make it my default? I'm seriously amazed this is how it was designed to work!
If you're not in another app, why does it bother you?
If you mean when the phone is idle with screen off and a call comes in then I don't see a point in not being fullscreen.
When it is updated to ui 2.1 there might be a setting to change call display while using other apps/mini popup

Whether you see the point or not doesn't really matter, if I'm asking, what I'd like to know is can it be done or not? I don't understand these non informative responses. Why do you bother taking the time to respond only to say you don't see the point why I'm asking?
However, if you must fully understand before giving a more useful answer, I use Google voice and I need to see which calls come from Google voice as a forward versus direct calls to my cell phone number. The only way to differentiate is seeing if hangout is also ringing or not. Occasionally hang out starts up first in which case it works like a charm. But every time the phone app rings first, it locks the screen and I cannot navigate to the Hangouts app or even pull down the notification to see if Hangouts is even ringing.
That's only one reason. The other is if I don't want to send the call to voicemail, and I want to let it ring, I don't necessarily feel like staring at my phone for 30 seconds if I want to do something else on it. I've had many phones and this is the only one that is acting this way. It's dumb.

Thank you, that was much more helpful! I'm not sure if it's due to the difference of S10 vs Note 9, but the swiping down diagonally from your left to lower right doesn't do anything for me. Anyways, I guess we have exhausted all options and using the edge is probably the best one for me. Thanks again!

Glad it works. If you'd like to try the swipe from corner to make the window small but you can't right now try to install Good Lock and use the module MultiStar. Inside this module there's an option called "Pop-up view action" which enables (or forces or re-enables xd) the functionality to swipe from the top corner diagonally in order to make the currently open app's window smaller.
If Good Lock does not work where you live then use either FineLock or NiceLock from the play store and install the module from here manually: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...amsung-multistar-3-2-28-android-apk-download/
