So i swapped this phone for my HTC One with a buddy of mine, and he had this 4.2.2 rom installed on it. He kind of told me what i needed in order to flash a rom. He said I need TFT and the rom file.
Well last night he was able to help me install TWRP recover with an XDA app that is floating around, he then told me that I can simply flash a locked bootloader from there, no Gapps or anything else needed.
So I did that, but now my wifi is not working and my Google account is not syncing, and I have no option to have it synced. So i asked the rom thread and was told that now i need to flash a certain kernel in order for my wifi to work again.
Coming from a regular flash and ready phone this seems like a headache to do each time i flash a rom. Last night i had made up my mind that i was going back to the HTC or possibly the S4. But now this phone is growing on me, i actually am starting to like it a lot!
My question is this, is there any rom out there that i can flash that will have everything working out of the box or do i ALWAYS need this TFt tool thing in order for my phone to work properly?
Please dont flame me and reply only if you can help me.
First, your friend might has done something wrong with your phone, although the TWRP seems working fine.
Second, figure out what your friend has done, in detail. So you know exactly the steps.
Third, look for a thread titled like "Xperia Z resources thread ... " learn everything from it so you can get basic knowledge about your XZ. Then analyze your problem based on the information of what your friend has done to your phone. In this step, you should have figured out what's wrong quickly and do something about it.
Answer for your question : flash stock firmware. Look for. 244 ftf file. Stock firmware always have everything working.

Thanks for the quick reply bro, can I flash this through TWRP or what do you recommend? I know that TWRP is working properly, but from what I reading i will always need some tft file ...I just want my phone to work like it should. Is there a ROM that you recommend? I am currently on monxDified.
I recommend a clean flash using flashtool and then flash your desired ROM. Monxdified is quite awesome. To get rid of all your problems, I recommend a clean install of your favorite ROM and kernel. Are you willing to do that? Because it will take some time to finish.

Yes I am willing to, so download the rom zip, and .244 kernel and flash the rom first then the kernel through tft correct?
By the way where can I get that kernel? I have been looking for it...
Hi, I suggest you read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38122227, then you'll be able to choose any ROM you like.

Thanks bud i read throuhg this now and located what I needed...kinda. I am told that I need kernel 244, and that i need tft to do this, yet in this guid it indicates that I can use recovery method to flash a kernel..
CUSTOM KERNELS ARE SPECIFIC TO ROMs...
you cant use stock kernel on CM ROM and you cant use CM kernel on stock ROM....
there are two ways to flash custom kernel
first download the kernel file... if it is a boot.img then use Method 1 (fastboot mode) or if its a update.zip file then use Method 2 (recovery)
See how this is confusing .....so is there such a thing as a 244 kernel zip file?

Hi.
First of all it's an .ftf file you need not TFT, and did he say the bootloader is unlocked or that you can do it if you want? You can flash certain ROMs on a locked bootloader but not all, so I would clarify if it is or it isn't. Flash a full stock ftf for now and go from there, it will be better off in the long run.

Its deff a locked bootloader, its the T-Mobile US version.
Hello developers and xda members!
Some months/weeks ago I asked about rooting and warranty.I got some answers that if I unroot it or use SEUS I will not loose warranty.
This time is about roms and locked bootloaders.
If I install a CWM Recovery then flash a ROM do I void warranty? If yes is there anyway that I can make it so it's like I never flashed anything so the warranty will still last?
If yes what is the best rom I can install for LOCKED bootloader(I don't want to unlock it)?
I want a rom with good battery life + camera (I don't care if it's not 100% perfect but at least better than the stock one!)
Any answer would be helpful!
Thanks

Even if you unlock your bootlader you wont loose your warranty (if that is the reason you are not doing it).Just make a backup of your DRM keys and the unlock code and keep it safe.

I don't generally want to unlock bootloader.
Even if I don't unlock it and just install a rom(e.x Existenz) would I need to backup DRM keys?
Also can you give me a SAFE tutorial about backing them up?
I also asked about a good rom that has a good battery life and camera than the stock one.
What's your opinion about roms? What is the best based on your opinion?

If you wont be unlocking the bootlooder, you dont need the backup. Here is the thread with anything needed to get started with your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701644
I've never used the stock or other based on it (I use 4.3+ ROMs ), but other forum members say that Existenz is the best one out there.Currently, I am using the leaked 4.3,but it is for unlocked bootloaders.

Why would I need the list of things to scan with a NFC enabled phone?
Anyway so I will not void my warranty if i flash a custom rom and then "format" it with SEUS?
That's my point

Oops..wrong link!Here s the right one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354704
P.S. Im not sure but I think you will still have your warranty.Back in the days, when i had my xperia x8 and it got hardbricked, I lied to my operator that it got fully discharged and it never turned on again. The trick worked and it went to Sony with a custom ROM inside of it .Anyways..today i had to revert to stock, because the tutorial for the leaked 4.3 said so, but i encountered a problem - SUS said that my phone has modified software and it didn't complete the operation.I had to flash an .ftf image file with flashtool. But after all, It was successfull.
Ehm I got a question. At the install instructions of Existenz it says
Flash the rom.
Flash NUT reboot fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317432
Flash 12.0.A.2.254 kernel only with flashtool (see FAQ).
As I see NUT reboot fix is for Xperia Z...Do I need to install this?Do I also need to install .254 kernel only again? At the FAQ it says about How to flash 6.2.B.1.96 Kernel with flashtool <- but this kernel is for Z...What happens?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and OK?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and existenz rom opens and then flash the NUT reboot fix?
Should I flash the rom then instantly install the NUT reboot fix?
Should I also install the kernel (12.0.A.254)?
I am kinda confused :/

1. Flash ROM
1.b Reboot phone
2. Use .bat from NUT (I used it after OTArootkeeper failed and I couldn't mount /system r/w)
3. Flash the kernel with Flashtool
Step 1b and 2 depend on what you prefer, flashing the fix or rebooting and let the computer do the fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
You can use NUT for the SP. About the kernel I'm not sure. I am on LB atm.
Hope this helps (except for the kernel of course)

I didnt backup before flashing, and now have false firmware, no sim signal, no wifi, battery heats as hell, and so on and so on...

This is quite strange
1) Locked or unlocked bootloader?
2) Have you ever flashed a custom kernel?
3) Have you ever flashed a custom rom?
4) What's your original firmware customization number? EDIT: I've just seen that's 1266-6442... is this your ORIGINAL firmware? Where do you live? In Germany?
5) Rooted? CWM?

Ok, yes, I know how it works...
I just asked about the bootloader status, because sometimes some people mess with bootloader, kernel, flash from recovery, flash with Flashtool... and so on... WITHOUT the understanding of what they're doing... and come here complaining... do you know what I mean?
OK, now, I know how to help you.
1)
There's a method to download and install the original firmware directly from Sony.
But you need to be rooted. So, are you rooted?
2)
Your customization number is wrong.
1266-6442 doesn't exist.
That's maybe the number of your model, but it's not related with the firmware.
The right number for Telekom Germany is 1265-9144
The customization number is inside your software and can be found pressing *#*#7378423#*#*, inside Service info --> Sofware info --> Customization Version.
Give me that number please, so I can understand what's the software working now on you device.
3)
You said "I didnt backup before flashing, and now have false firmware, no sim signal, no wifi, battery heats as hell, and so on and so on.."
Ok, please, explain better what you did.
Have you flashed what kind of rom? Via recovery?

so i just was flashing all the other firmwares, especially the 4.3, from all the other regions, i thought maybe they will work better, but nope.

Ok, now I've understood what's your situation.
It seems that when you flashed 4.1.2 firmwares, the process was not compete for some reason.
The list from which you get that number, is about all kind of xperia T... and is different from the firmware list.
The problem is that you lost your previous original number, maybe it was 1265-9144... and you can resume it only with root and a little bit of experience... and actually I'm not sure you would be able to handle this kind of hacking stuff.
Anyway I'm quite sure that 4.1.2 from CE is perfect for your needs.
Try this one with Flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42393403&postcount=29
This firmware is perfect for any european country: I tested many times and is one of the best.
But before flashing, recharge your battery to the maximum. And be sure that the flashing process is complete and without errors.
Just try and let me know...

I can't answer to the first question.
You are the first with this weird problem and I'm beginning to think that something is broken inside your phone.
Bootloops are usual when something is wrong with kernel or system, but if you say that flashing went good and this appears only with 4.1.2 , I really don't know why.
You are not rooted because you've never done before and anyway every time you format the system (flashing with Flashtool or via recovery) you lose root.
So you are not rooted for sure.
The problem now is becoming bigger, because there's no way to root a 4.3 firmware directly.
But... guess what? You have to root 4.1.2 before and then install a 4.3 already rooted. :crying:
The only way for you to root 4.3 directly is to unlock your bootloader, but this means that you lose warranty and DRM keys (that are needed to let work some functions like Bravia Engine).
Actually you could save your warranty and DRM keys with a special backup (called TA backup), but.... guess what? You need to be rooted!!!! :crying:
The second way is to try to install 4.0.4 ice cream and root it. It could work.
I give you this link https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B55PDGQqCzReV2dFSjFSNnlLLVk/preview?pli=1
It's 4.0.4 italian version...
Try this... and if it doesn't work, the only way is to unlock your bootloader losing warranty and drm keys, sorry...

LOL :cyclops: as you wish...
1) Flash 4.3 with Flashtool
2) Unlock your bootloader on Sony official site following all the instructions: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
3) Once it's unlocked, open Flashtool and re-flash 4.1.2 CE that I gave you and you tried before: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42393403&postcount=29
4) Don't turn on. Download Doomkernel here: http://d-h.st/4kK
Unpack the .elf file inside the zip
5) Open Flashtool. Connect the phone to PC keeping pushed the volume-up button. Now the phone is in fastboot mode. Click on the lightning symbol, select fastbootmode, select kernel to flash, select the .elf file extracted before, done.
6) Unplug the phone. Turn on and you will see the doomkernel logo... and now I hope that you finally enter into 4.1.2 firmware without bootloop.
7) To root: you need to copy this file http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip to the internal memory.
Turn off. Turn on pushing volume-down repeatedly, now you enter into recovery, now install the supersu zip and reboot.

DAAAAAMN ! -.- :/ DommKernel logo is there, xperia logo, animation, and blocks again, restarts all the time.. I'm really desperate...
Now you have 4.1.2 with the doomkernel and the root, which is the perfect combination to do anything on your device.
If it's working, you can leave the phone in this situation.
Instead if you really want to go back to the original firmware, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334653
Follow the part A using this custom number 1265-9144 (t-mobile Germany). Remember you need root for this process!
Relock the bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924221
Plug to Sony PC Companion and Sony will re-install your original firmware.
My advice is to leave the phone unlocked and rooted with CE firmware

Damn.
Reflash 4.3 with Flashtool.
Download this Doomkernel: http://doomlord.xperia-files.com/download.php?dlid=VC1Eb29NS2VybmVsLXYwOQ==
Be aware: don't use the old doomkernel, but this one (v.09) that is specific for 4.3
Flash the elf file, as you did before.
Now you have doomkernel logo and you can enter into 4.3.
Now root it as I suggested in the previous posts (turn off, turn on pushing vol-down, flash suspersu zip, reboot).
Try.

Soo, what should i do now? You are my one and only HOPE !!
Hello, I'm trying to update a Sony Xperia Z (from the phone's menu), but for some reason, the updates don't work, as if they were blocked. From what I've been told, someone tried to root the phone using some random tutorial on the internet, ended up in a bootloop (at the SONY logo), then flashed an official rom (4.1.2 IIRC) via flashtools or a similar software to solve the bootloop. I've checked the bootloader status dialing [*#*#7378423#*#*], and it's still locked .
I don't want to risk bricking it since it's not mine, but the person who owns it really wants to be able to update it normally via the phone (very casual user, no flashing knowledge or anything), so I would be happy if someone could help me ! So, teach me Masters, what should I do ? Thanks in advance !
P.S. : if there's already a post/tutorial about that, I'm sorry but didn't find it =)

As far as I know OTA doesn't work with unlocked bootloader (correct me, If I'm wrong).
Sony PC Companion won't work either, because your friend/you had unlocked your bootloader.
You can relock it, but it won't work either way, if you don't have TA-Backup with your DRM keys, I think

Hello, and thanks for your answer ! I just talked with the person who tried to modify the phone, and actually, he didn't install a custom rom, he just tried to root the phone following some random tutorial, then ended up in a bootloop. He doesn't know if he unlocked the bootloader or not, but to solve the bootloop, he flashed an official rom via his pc (flashtools or something similar), as I said in the previous post... does that change anything ? Anyway, I'm gonna edit the OP to make things more clear.
EDIT : just checked the bootloader status by typing [*#*#7378423#*#*] in the dialer, it's NOT unlocked. =)

Well, that explains everything.
Firstly, you've to download Flashtool (I suggest you to read carefully the information provided in the link) and install its drivers. If you've already done it, you can proceed futher.
♦ I suggest you to go straight to the newest version (4.4.4) Generic. Here is .FTF file, which needs to be put in flashtool /firmware(s) folder (your friend should know it): Generic 4.4.4 FTF HERE
Before start, make sure you know what are you doing and it is only your responsibility.
By flashing .ftf you won't brick your device unless you'll try to flash custom kernel on locked bootloader or something like this.
If you need a tutorial which describes how to flash .ftf, then quote this message and I'll try sort this thing out with you

Awesome ! Yes, indeed, if you could tell me how to do it or link me to a tutorial, that would be very appreciated ! I already have flashtools installed, but don't know the commands, or the right steps to flash something without using a recovery. Anyway, thanks for your time ^^
EDIT : I forgot to indicate that I'm running flashtools on linux, so no interface, everything has to be done with commands lines... so the tutorial in the link in your previous post can't be used with my os, I think !
