Dear Experts,
I got a Galaxy S5 AT&T brought from US.
I'm using it in Sri Lanka where the 4G is available.
But this phone does not have the video calling facility and data sharing (Hotspot)
What can be done to make these options avail in the phone.
I paid a large amount to buy this and feeling very upset on not having some major functions:crying:
Please help guys.
Thank you
Depending on your opinions of the following services and apps.
Download from the Google Play Store.
Skype <--- For video calls
FoxFi <--- For WiFi hotspot. (AT&T blocked the download from the play store but the FoxFi add on is still available which provides a link to the download for FoxFi from their website)

Dear cag-man,
Thanks for your interest to help.
I downloaded foxfi and still the issue continues.
The error message is "NO MOBILE DATA AVAILABLE OR INVALID SIM"
I got Skype, but my service provider gives me free video calling minutes.
I cannot use this with Skype. That's why I need anew option to avail 3G video calling
Please help
FoxFi should work. I have used the hotspot on mine using several different apps.
I really don't know much about unlocking a device. However, it appears the device you have needs to be unlocked so you can use your SIM in it. When I can do a search later I will see if I can find the thread on unlocking the phones.

Hi, I know most of you guys are aware that the Moto X doesn't support T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling natively. What are some workarounds you may have to use Wi-Fi calling? I need this feature since my service is abysmal at home. Are there any suggestions? My theory is using Hangouts Dialer, but there's not much of a hand off like native Wi-Fi calling for me.
Someone on Google+ asked this same question on the T-Mobile page and the answer was no, that there are no plans to get the moto X on Wi-Fi calling at this time, but to keep checking or some BS like that.
T-Mobile does offer a signal booster, not the Wi-Fi router for Wi-Fi calling, but a cellular booster. You might want to call and look into that.
For the mean time, there is free "wifi calling" service like Google voice now know as hangouts. There are others but that is the best one i can recommend to use for the mean time.
There's word that T-Mobile is working with Google to get wifi-calling on the nexus phone(s), but I wouldn't hold my breathe. You're best alternative is like the above poster suggested and use google voice for calling.
This is probably a dumb question. T-mobile offers free international wifi calling and also free international data. Maybe the data is too slow in many countries. Is there an app or a way to run the phone's wifi and then use the wifi calling feature? If one has wifi then no point but if one doesn't it would be cool to do.
The cellular voice part of the phone needs network support for the wifi to work seamlessly. However there are many apps like google chat that allow phone calls over wifi. These app services are separate from your cellular and have a different phone number involved. International calling may require you subscribe to the service too.

Tmobile says the wifi calling will work free automatically, well at least that's what I read. I suppose I would need to call them and ask to make sure since it was a 3rd party article reporting on their wifi calling and now good it was. Probably no way to turn on wifi hotspot while at the same time use the wifi calling from the wifi hotspot.
Can anyone help me out please
Problem: WiFi calling not working.
I'm currently overseas in the uae right now and will be year for a whole year. I've tried getting my WiFi calling to work on both LP and MM but no luck. I've tried fresh installs, airplane mode toggle, WiFi tether toggle, WiFi toggle and nothing seems to work.
After I finished setting this aosip 6.0 ROM today, I looked at my quick settings and it showed T-Mobile WiFi calling but immediately after that, I had to reboot the device for a layers theme install. After reboot the WiFi calling was gone. I've tried everything I know possible to get it back but no luck.
Anyone ever experience this or can anyone possibly help me out because T-Mobile has already started hitting me for roaming charges.
Please and thank you
My current ROM
wifi calling doesnt matter about your rom, its about your provider. if your provider does not provide wifi calling(like tmobiles wifi calling), then wifi calling will never work.
It's T-Mobile. And I've check with multiple reps who told me that it's active on my account

tmo usa via intermational? i dont know if that would work..
They told me it would. I've spoken to 6 different reps. They all confirmed that WiFi calling as long as it's calling back to the US is free and unlimited

try using google voice instead, I know its boot what you asked about but it's what I used and it has nothing to do with the Rom, it's standalone app
I use T-Mobile Wifi calling in Europe back to the US without issue, but I set it up while still in the US.
Since T-Mobile has a *very* nice international roaming data scheme, I suggest you use Google Voice/Hangouts to avoid incurring roaming charges until you get this fixed,
Hello,
I travel a lot for work from the US to China. In the past, I've utilized wi-fi calling on my LG G4 on Sprint for texts / voice capabilities. Sprint doesn't allow wifi calling in China, but there was an easy work around: I would VPN to a US based location (needed to access anything google), connect to wifi, turn on global roaming and then use a fake GPS locator app set to somewhere in the US. When used in tandem, I was able to to connect to wifi calling just as if I was in the states. I've done this successfully for the past six trips to china over the past year, end of April being the latest.
On my current trip to China, I've been unable to connect using this method. The Wifi calling times out and gives an notification error in the status bar "wifi calling is not allowed in this country". Does anyone know what may have changed in the past two months? I believe Sprint does its locating via Google (one of the main reasons wifi calling doesn't work here) but that shouldn't be an issue if I have VPN access and can utilize the suite of my other Gapps.
Does anyone have any other ideas or settings I can tinker with to try to get this to work? One time I was able to pull up a screen that I've never seen before titled "self service" and it mentioned something about setting 911 location, but I've never had to mess with that in the past. Was there a recent ROM update that I may have downloaded over the past couple of months that would have prevented me from doing what I used to do (I don't remember, but maybe)?
Any help would be much appreciated. I even called Sprint to try to get my texts turned on and they just turn on global roaming and I'll be all set...I did this and that hasn't worked either. When I go to HK, I receive texts and can use data without issue, and can connect to wifi calling (confirmed last weekend).
Thanks!
-Rob

On my wife's HPlay phone there are VoLTE and VoWiFi features. So if you type certain "secret codes" you can verify if it is on your phone. It also requires support from your operator.
Another option is to use SIP application and account to use VoIP calls.
