Why is Bluetooth tethering disabled in Canada?
I can see why in the States because they charge for tethering.
but in Canada I am not charged I have WiFi tethering but no bluetooth tethering.
I should see if I can load another ROM, but frankly the Know thing has me chicken,
Can your provider know if you do tethering? That's the first time I've heard that
You probs not going to get an answer in this forum as it has nothing to do with the gear. Better off going to device forum (or general)

It has everything to do with the Galaxy Gear because the Galaxy Gear is the only reason why I want it.
I suppose the concern is security.

It isn't. Works just fine.
Every time you turn on your WiFi you're being logged and tracked.
Spy agency tracked passengers for days through free Wi-Fi
http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/0...wi-fi-at-a-major-canadian-airport-cbc-report/
That's why your (Every Canadian) carrier allows for WiFi tethering but disable Bluetooth tethering to encourage users to use wifi to be tracked by the government.
Canadian here tethering no problem. Nexus 3 on aokp , gg on null 23, carrier = wind

It has nothing to do with the gear as in the gear is not responsible for it not working...
Some carrier's block tethering because it is only offered on certain plans.
Lol bounce a thread than is 4 months dead.
Really does not matter much, the Canadian note 3 does not have native bluetooth tethering and that is all.
The next generation smart watches will be out soon, waiting for Android Wear devices, things have changed since last December.

True, but that's a Nexus 3, older phones used to have Bluetooth tethering until Canadian NSA Spy program went online and required the end of that.

Should bluetooth tether work on AT&T in USA now that I switched to their Mobile Share plan, and not the unlimited? I am on stock again for now, but would switch if I can get online on the watch. Thanks.

[Q] Tmobile Note 3 rom on AT&T Note 3

I know this seems like an unusual request but i was wondering if it were possible to use odin to install the T-Mobile Note 3 rom on or AT&T Note 3? Only reason I'm asking is because I work allot out of my office at work and there's very little cellphone reception if any in my office I was curious if it would be possible to swap roms because of T-Mobiles WiFi calling and texting feature built into their roms.
Any information would help pls.
Edit:
I've found on this forum a thread that another member was successful in using Odin to flash a T-mobile rom... here is his thread can a respected member on here please chime in?

No, as we have a locked boot loader. Trying will most likely brick your phone. WIFI calling doesn't work on AT&T as it is not supported by AT&T. That is why you don't see it on any ROMS for AT&T. Would be nice.

I have T-Mobile now and am using a Note 3 from ATT. Wi-FI calling does not work. I see the option but it will not work at all. Stays "enabling".

Do you have a t mobile rom on your att note 3? Cause that's what I asking if it's possible. If so how do I go about it?

Its very easy. I could port one in hours but WiFi calling is carrier dependent. Won't work

I have an ATT Note 3 with T MO software. It is fairly straightforward. Was easy to install. Once I installed the TMO os on the phone it WORKED BETTER.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625946
Again, I cannot wifi call but adding the tmo carrier option via the Modificatinator helped a lot and it FIXED THE GPS issue. It's obvious the GPS issue is ATT related. Adding the additional TMO was a lil pain until I figured it out it was cake.

Hi,
I am planning on installing "TweakedN3 2.0 UVUBMI7 4.3 SM-N900T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 ... for AT&T!" this weekend. Can you tell me how and what what you did in the Modificatinator to include TMO ?
Thanks!
So I loaded the Tweaked rom on my N3 and it is pretty impressive. The only thing that doesnt work is WIFI. ANNOYING. It hangs at "enabling wifi" Unsure why. Seems to do this with all the non Aroma TMO roms except Elite S5 port.
You must use the wifi fix, umm its around, I do not have it on me, PM me to remind me, I will upload it when I get home. :good:
Hello - I have the same situation as those in this thread. Got a deal on an AT&T Note 3 unlocked, but am on T-Mobile's network. I'm using the Alliance T-Mobile ROM for the AT&T Note 3 and everything is great except wifi calling doesn't work. Always get a ER041 DNS error or hangs when trying to switch wifi calling settings. Since I'm on T-Mobile's network, shouldn't I be able to use wifi calling? This shouldn't be a radio issue but rather a software one I would think.
To add to this, the following post mentions this feature is at the kernel level and wifi calling will not work. Not sure if this can be confirmed or there is truly a fix.
This wifi 'fix' that was mentioned; does it exist and do you or anyone have the link? TIA

Wifi calls working?
I was wondering if you ever got the wifi calls and texts to work on your SM-N900A? If so, what did you have to do? If I can't get it working I might just go back to my S3, only because I work at ExxonMobil and all the buildings out here are "blast proof" causing zero cell signal.

You can't get tmobile wifi calling to work, but you can get a Google voice number then installed Hangout dial to work as wifi calling, I have same experience since I never got signal in my office. So I use google voice all the time, well i need tell others my phone numbers though. it is free to call within US, and Canada, other place i think there is charge.
Cool, I'll do that. Thanks.

[Q] AT&T official WiFi hotspot

For those of you who are on AT&T plans(or Go phone plan) that officially allows tethering, does the z3 compact have that tethering and hotspot setting like the Note 3? If not and you are not rooted, how are you able to do wifi hotspot?

The phone comes with a standard built-in WiFi hotspot function, and it works perfectly on AT&T
Thank you guys. Getting impatient for a US model. Might just order it from Ebay.

Yea, that is why I just did the pre-order and got it from Clove. US is always months behind getting the new models, if they even manage to hit carriers.
this is good news that it works. anyone know if it works over bluetooth as well?
Does AT&T charge when I turn on my tethering?
They don't really know you are using it if you having an unlocked phone. But if you use it to much they might catch on

Can the T817T T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 be used as a Smartphone?

Can the T817T T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 be used as a Smartphone?
I'm trying to minimize what I carry between Tablets, Laptops, and Smartphones.
If I can just get away with the T817T T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 ,
Since it already has built-in LTE and SIM card... Why Not?
http://www.t-mobile.com/internet-devices/samsung-galaxy-tab-s2.html
I hope it's possible!
Well it dosent have an integrated earpiece. But I assume if you use a sim with a voice plan and bluetooth or wired headset I dont see why not.

Just got a T_Mobile version of the tab today with the hopes of giving it to grandad to use as a phone.
Sadly, voice functionality does not exist on the tablet. I installed a few dialers and attempted to make a call, as well as attempting to receive a call, and no dice. The current ROM must be compiled without the telephony libraries required for making calls, as the hardware should be perfectly capable.
****.
Google voice works via wifi, if that's any help.

I had heard rumors in that some XDA members had hacked the S2 to actually work as a Phone considering it does have all the hardware.
I use to have the first Galaxy 7 Tab in which I flashed a ROM to that very thing... used it as a Big Phone with Bluetooth earpiece.
But I cannot find anything on the S2 to accomplish that feat...
Seems like it should have that functionality but no such luck. I've made/received calls via Hangouts Dialer occasionally... works just like a regular phone/dialer would IME. I probably use it most often to call my own phone when I'm at home and can't remember where the heck I left that thing
So in essence if one wants voice dialling then they need to buy the SM-T819 internation model? Which does not have band 12?
