Most minimal case for 10.5 S - Galaxy Tab S General

Hi
I've been using the Samsung flip cover case that came with my S 10.5. That's the case that attaches to the two notches on the back and covers the front. I guess it's good to protect the glass and it's convenient to turn off the screen.
However I find that it's awkward for me to use. Every time I drop the tablet it's almost always because I'm struggling with the cover. The flip cover is great when I'm not using the tablet. Not so good when I'm actually using it.
Can someone recommend a good minimal case I can get for this. I want something as light as possible that gives me a little grip and a bit of protection. I'm willing to give up the close to turn off screen function.
Thanks in advance

I am using this gel TPU case.. it just protects the back and sides.. against any drops.. and gives you better grip.. it does not add any weight or dimension.. It comes with a stylus and screen protector, but I'm not using those http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L8R5SMO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
When I travel, to protect the glass, I use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K0CVNXG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have this to watch movies and read Reddit in bed (with the universal adapter from their site) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006RG21ZS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And one of these to use the tablet on tables http://www.amazon.com/Rasfox®-AUROR...d=1424658496&sr=8-9&keywords=ipad+stand+metal

Those look good. Thank you.

I would suggest some slip cover. Those gel covers aren't for carrying and still ad bulk when using.

http://www.amazon.com/roocase-Samsu..._sbs_pc_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=070ES10V7KXMXT3MKX0B
4-5oz. This case is very light, even compared to the ivso/finite case. I had this for my Tab S 8.4 (and it's predecessor for the Tab Pro 8.4) Going with this style of case means the thickness is only added to the back rather than both sides.

I am currently using this case, it adds a little bulk but I prefer this case over the others I have tried. http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Samsung-...r=8-7&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tab+s+10.5+case
I have also used this one, http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Samsun...r=8-3&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tab+s+10.5+case there are many like this on Amazon to chose from, this is a very light case that does not add much bulk. The screen on/off magnet works fine on both of these cases.

OP do you have need for quick stand function? If not you may want to consider getting a sleeve case instead. They are cheap, light weight and can protect the screen. Also unlike every other type of case they add no bulk to the tablet when you are holding it, and the Tab S without a case is very light.

Thanks for suggestion.
No I don't need quick stand. Just something to cover back and edges and makes it grippy.
What's a sleeve case. Is that like a pocket / envelope type case. That's good for placing it in a bag but I don't travel much with my tab. I just need something for daily use.
Btw, I bought one of these
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NWAA410/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_jIJ-ub1X8Q34K
BIG MISTAKE. It does not want to go on and stay on and the back is way too slippery. I don't like the feel at all. I guess I should have gone with a TPU case like I planned to.

That case hurts my eye. The colours!

what is the "best" case? And awesome accesoires?

So I've ordered a Gnote yesterday and have decided not to put a screenprotector on it.
So I have decided to stick with a case instead!
I am looking for a case that is very slim and still offers protection for the screen (mostly from scratches as a slim case won't break a fall).
I have already searched the whats your case thread but didn't really find anything to suit my needs. The case that is currently in my mind is the melkco limited case or the original samsung folio case.
The only thing that keeps me from buying the Melkco one is that it flips open on the downside. Which would drasticly increase the phone lenght.
And I am also looking for some awesome accesoires. Just things to impress.
Fun cases or a differen case decal. Which one is your favorite?
Thanks in advance!
There are many cases for different needs.
For me the best one is Zenus Case Prestige Carbon. http://www.zenuscase.net/product-29984.html
I experimented with lot's of different cases when I've got SGS2 and I tried almost 10 of them. I've got several different types of cases along with carbon fiber ones, metal ones, combines or hard plastic cases with stands etc. I end up with one I didn't expect at all!
SGS2 same my current Galaxy Note is "thin", almost "slippery" and Note also "rotates" on it's back if you try to use it on smooth surface like table. I wanted something that will improve handling, protect the back and also protect the front WITHOUT using the screen protector (because they always ruing the image).
I end up surprisingly with gell S-Cove (that one with strange curvature back with two types of see-through plastic). Obviously it protect the back but it also helps fix the Note on the table, but it also has tough sides, so if you operate it in your hand, it's gets more sure grip. And because if it's nature it has 1mm edge over the display which doesn't hinder at all but if you put your phone display down on the table, it sits on the gell case edge and not on the display itself.
I used to put my phone display down, because I'm using LightFlow and it uses camera flash as a notification diod
And S-Case also was a winner for me, because it's yet slimmest from them all and I still can put the Note IN THE CASE to the belt pouch, which with most of the other cases is impossible because the're too big.
I hope I save you some cash, because with that knowledge from SGS2 I ordered the SCase for Note and it's simply perfect (i'm using the red one).
Cheers
Loved the SGP Ultra Thin for my iPhone.. Bet they are as good for the Note.
Ordered mine, but didn't get it yet.
I'd love to get a Zenus case but the one thing that scares me is the magnets they use for their cases.
The Zenus vintage one seems to deliver good protector to both the screen and the phone itself but at the cost of being rather thick I think..
The case that suits my needs the best is probably the samsung original flip case as it reduces its thickness by replacing the battery cover.. The problem is that the side of the leather won't stay in one piece..
There are many debates on screenprotectors in these forums but is it really necessary? I mean.. I just hate screenprotectors but don't want my screen to get scratched.. (my captivate remainced unscratched even though I didn't even had a case on it, my EVO 3D got some scratches from metal studs)

thinking of this case for note 2

what do you guys think of this case? Its the only one that has a magnetic flip that I have found that looks decent. Anyone have any other suggestions? I don't like the fact that I can't get it in Blue, but the blue one ive seen is the type with the flap on the back that makes the phone bulky and such. I want to have magnetic close otherwise no guarantee if I take it out of my pocket that it won't land with the flap not on the screen.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-PU-Le...780849?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3ccbd52371
I'm open to any type of case really as long as it isn't bulky. I just want to hopefully protect the screen when I drop the phone. I don't drop my phones much, but accidents do happen.
A flip cover case in white looks a bit girly. Trust me I own one and don't use it anymore. I can't help but feel like I'm carrying around a purse.

agreed, but the other colors aren't great either and i'm getting a white note 2. my main thinking now is that if I am using it and dropping it, the flap won't help anyway.
I have the black version of this case and it's got very good protection but does add some bulk. It's not too much but today I went and bought the official flip cover to try and reduce some bulk. However I am considering going back to this cover because there isn't enough protection for the samsung cover and I miss the magnet

I'd say just get what you think looks good. You're the one carrying it and using it. I have a white Tridea case and haven't had any issues. I love the thing.
kind of leaning towards this one now http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLUE-PERFOR...846560?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item51a3772960
my main issue with these flips is I wanted it for protection of the screen, but if I'm using it and drop it,the flip will be open anyway, so maybe better to get normal case that is raised a little bit on the front and hopefully protect it.

Review: Poetic Affinity case

I just received this case in the mail and I'm already loving it. The case design is really nice. I have the black sapphire phone and received the frosted clear case. It matches really well, but it would probably have matched with the black much better. The clear case shows off the sexiness of the note 5. The branding on the case isn't too overwhelming. There's a P in the middle that is right between the words Samsung and Galaxy Note 5. It kind of looks perfect sitting there. It's also branded with Poetic near the bottom of the case. I kind of wish it wasn't there. Rather it had been clear instead. The name of the case, Affinity, is on the side of the case. The case is nice and grippy and it doesn't hurt the hands at all. The back X design looks like a normal design but it serves a purpose. The corners of the X are used for bumper protection and the lines running up and down the case is used to raise the phone from a flat surface a bit. Most of the cut outs are aligned pretty accurately, with the exception of the bottom speaker. The holes are not quite aligned. I don't think it will take away any sound quality but I'm a stickler for perfection sometimes and it bothered me a little. The frost on the sides of the case kind of takes away the silver metal trimming of the phone, but overall it's still a very nice case. I have had Poetic cases before and have never been disappointed. I can highly recommend them.

Even the manufacturers of some of these cases that everyone is reviewing here have asked to keep the reviews all in one thread. Just a thought to keep the clutter at a minimum. Also it makes it easier for people who are looking for a review of a case to read through one thread rather than 4 or 5 or 6 or more....
No one said you aren't entitled to your own review. Just don't know why you need your own thread to do so. [emoji53]

I received mine as well and I like the build quality of this device. I will say that I recieved this case for free, but I will try to be as objective as I can about the case.
Protection:
Its a step above a TPU only plastic case, with clear material on this less likely contact areas to show off the phone, and black "rubberized" bumper integrated to give more structural protection. Where you might crack the corners on a tpu case, the bumper will protect the phone, offer better shock protection and most likely allow the case to survive some impacts. The bumper also crosses along the back of the case and is raised up a little so that the clear plastic doesnt touch the surface, reducing scratches. The bumper around the screen is raised above the device about 1mm or so, which will provide some additional screen protection. The buttons are sealed inside the bumper case, which is nice to prevent dust build up and also protect the switches from impact.
Look:
I got the black and clear. The clear plastic lets me see the good looks of the phone, and the bumper material gives the case a tougher look.
Function:
Buttons work normally, with no weirdness. The cutouts for the speakers dont seem to be ligned up with the holes on the speaker, but I cant tell if there really is any reduction in sound quality. The cut out for the stylus is open enough to not make it a pain to get the pen, without sacrificing protection, as far as I can tell. mini usb and headphones jacks are also easily reached.
The sides of the case along the sides has textured slashes that greatly improve the grip, which I really like. What I dont like is that compared to a slim case, you are adding some size to the width of the phone, but its definatly a trade off given the step up on protection vs a thinner plastic case, or none at all.
Last, wireless charging worked as normal. Reception for wifi and cell service was unaffected.
Whats good:
Step up in protection from a thin plain plastic case, build quality is great.
Whats not:
Makes the phone larger than naked or with a thin case. A tad heavier than one as well.
I would use this case mostly if I know the device is going to be in harsher conditions than day to day. I use a thin case for work, and I use no case at home.
Here's my review to keep things together and in one place
First off the case itself looks fantastic, perhaps a little light on my black phone but that is personal preference, because it is actually protective and not just a thing clean skin it does show and lightens the color overall. That said the design is good and actually looks nice, it has raised edges that are opaque that will help prevent the rest of the case from scratching and keep its looks.
I actually spent a good five days with the case before writing my review to see how it held up and I am very happy with it so far, I am likely going to keep it on for at least another week and then update this review, of course it may stay on longer than that but I often switch up cases so we will see. The ease of pushing buttons even compared to my Tech 21 case is very impressive.
Pros:
The buttons are very responsive, much more so than the other cases I have tried.
The amount of grip the case adds is great, yet it still slide in and out of my pocket easily.
It will draw looks, the phone already does on its own and this case mostly highlights its features.
Cons:
It would look better on a white note than a black one.
Nothing else I have found so far.
Yeah, received mine yesterday so opinion may change, but here it goes for my initial review.
So far this is one of my top favorite cases that I have. Not nearly as slippery as the Obliq Case that I ordered. The only thing I miss, and this is personal opinion, is a built in kickstand, but I also realize that can add a little on the cost. Either way though the flow and the grip of the case work fairly well.
Pros:
Less slick than the clear Obliq case which is nice considering the other one would just slide right on out of your pocket.
Has nice grip on the sides and the buttons work nicely as well.
Like the clear case with black
Cutouts are where they should be and work just fine
Cons:
None really, maybe a slight concern on being able to see any and all scratches the case gets, but that is what cases are for
One of the best
Here is my review of this case as well copied from Amazon after using the case for the past week.
This is one of the best cases I have used so far for the Note 5, and I have tried/used a lot of them.
Pros:
1. Protective without adding much bulk
2. Cut out for S Pen is perfect
3. Adds much needed grip to a slippery phone
4. Lets the beauty of the phone show through
Cons:
1. Hole cutouts for the speaker holes don't line up perfectly
This case really is a nice one, and for the price, you are getting a great case. I have the clear/black case, and really like the style that it adds to the phone. I have a slickwraps skin on the back of the phone, and it shows through nicely thanks to this design. I absolutely love the little grip edges that they put on this case. It maintains comfort in the hand, while adding some much needed grip. The cut out for the S-pen is ample and makes it very easy to press the clicking mechanism to get the pen out. What makes this case protective is what Poetic has done here with the corners of the case. The corners are nicely reinforced, and should provide some nice shock protection to the phone if it is ever dropped (I hope mine never is, but it is nice to have the protection.) The only real con I could find with this case is that for some reason, Poetic decided to make individual hole cutouts for the speaker section of the phone. For whatever reason though, those holes in the case do not line up with the speaker holes themselves and are off set from each other. Maybe Poetic should have just had one large cutout here for the speaker. Despite that mis-alignment however, the case does not seem to impede the sound at all.
Overall this case is a big win and I highly recommend it.
Disclaimer: I was provided this case by the manufacturer for review at no cost. However, this has not influenced my review in the slightest, and I do still highly recommend it.
How much actual width does it add to the device? I'm looking to get a Qi cradle for my car and need to know if it will work with this case on.
Someone give it a quick measure for me, please? Thanks in advance!
t.
I sent mine back, scratches just looking at the thing. Really a shame because I actually liked the case.

Schnail Titan Case Review.

I received my complimentary case on Thursday the 17th. Here is my initial review of the Schnail Titan case for the note 20 ultra.
First things first. Here's the pros:
1. It's tough. The edges are tight & hug the phone nicely with no gaps. If you love Otterbox, Supcase, or rugged cases in general, you'll be satisfied with Schnail.
2. No camera bump. Lays nice and smooth.
3. Rubberized sides allow for extra grip with a nice diamond pattern.
4. A sturdy kickstand (Double-edged sword, more info below).
5. USB-C protective cover (I love covers)
6. Easy install (place in frame first, then place into the bottom. Also has the instructions on a sticker).
7. Works with Whitestone Dome SP.
8. Works with wireless charging.
9. Price.
All in all, it's a solid case. I just have a few nitpicks. Call me Petty Roosevelt But:
1. While I love the kickstand, it's hard to pull out and put back it. I still love it though.
2. Ultra petty, but some different colors would be great. I would love this in orange, or blue, or red.
3. It would be awesome if this had a cover for the spen, so it won't fly out when you drop it.
Other than that, I give this case a Major, Major, Major go :good: Will keep using as my daily and recommend.

Totally agree, here is my review that I left on Amazon:

This case is an absolute beast. I have no worries about dropping the phone with this bad boy on. If you are looking for something that can take an absolute pounding, this is a great choice.
This case has a plastic rim that first fits around the phone, then slides into the outer shell. The fitment is perfect, the port holes all line up exactly. The charge port cover is a nice feature. Also, the phone lays flat which is a bit of a problem with this phone when using some other cases.
The sides are super grippy. I like how the design elements are all perfectly cut, no poor work here, you can tell the QA process is working well. The kickstand has a locking mechanism on it to ensure the phone doesn't fall when using it, but it's really hard to get back closed. It feels almost like you are going to break it at first, but its pretty robust so it has held up. Way better than a loose kickstand, but something to be aware of. There is a good sized lip at the top and bottom of the case as you can see in one of the pictures of the light gap between the screen and the table. This should help protect the screen in case of a drop on a flat surface.
The buttons work well, and there is a + and - sign on the volume buttons which is a nice touch.
Keep in mind as well that this a large case. It's meant for maximum protection, and achieves that well. No skinny jeans here...this needs a big ol pocket.
Final word: The designer clearly meant to create a case with maximum protection. They achieved this absolutely. The only way you can unintentionally break your phone in this case is if you drop the screen directly on a corner. The name Titan for this case is perfect. The case is huge and the kickstand is a little difficult to get out of lock. This is absolutely a five star product though.

I got mine too, while I love the case and definitely plan on using it daily over my phone, it's a shame that the kickstand is a pain to get out. The first time I had to use the other end of my fork to pop it out, it is that hard to pull out with your fingers!

Does the company even make a holster case for their cases? That case is nice but won't fit in my car vent mounted phone holder due to the case being too wide. Any suggestions?

There is not a screen protector, its a face frame that essentially locks the case onto the phone.

I will stand with both of these reviews. 100% awesome case. A holster would be awesome too
So much for your thin 20 Ultra.
#brick
I always go for the thinnest and lightest ;}
Just wanted to update the thread with my review. I honestly think this is a beast of a case without feeling like a brick.
This case is an extremely rugged case that doesn't make the Note20 feel like it weighs a ton like some other cases can. This is a standard two-part design. That being an exterior rugged rubber shell and in inner plastic shell that snaps around the phone to provide extra shock protection. I personally did not have any trouble pulling the two halves apart but I also have a lot of experience with these types of cases so your experience with that may vary.
Pros:
1. The external rubber case is solidly built. When you squeeze the case without the phone or inner plastic shell in it, it is *very* hard to squeeze from the side. This is due to a very hard plastic backplate that prevents the case from flexing.
2. The kick stand is a monster. It is a very wide kickstand and once it is fully extended and locked into place, it takes a bit of force to get it to collapse again. To me, this is a pro since I don't have to worry about the kickstand giving out and my phone falling.
3. Installation is very simple. Once you have the inner plastic shell snapped around your phone, slide the phone into the bottom of the case first and then push the top of the phone into the case. It should just pop right in.
4. Phone feels balanced when in this case. The Note20 is a bit top heavy because of the giant camera bump but the case does a nice job of trying to make the phone feel balanced in the hand.
5. The top and bottom of the case flair out ever so slightly to keep the screen off of your desk should you put your phone screen-side down.
6. The volume and power buttons extend ever so slightly from the case to give them a nice tactile feel without being obtrusive.
7. Excellent gripping on the sides of the case and a stylish honeycomb design on the inside that makes its way to the inside of the kickstand.
8. Port cutouts are precision molded. The charger protector port snugly fits inside the case to protect the charge port but it has a nice lip that is easy to pull down on to open it up.
9. The price. For what this case offers the price absolutely cannot be beat. This is a premium product for a budget friendly price.
*Note* I personally cannot comment on screen protector compatibility because I don't have one on. However, in phone case experience past, I'm sure it's fine.
All in all, from now on this company will be my go to choice for phone cases. Also, as an added bonus, a portion of their profits goes to the American Cancer Society.
Way too bulky. But it's a perfect way to ruin the beauty of this phone's design!

Question Anyone using the phone with the silicone case+s pen?

Hey. Can anyone share their experience with using the s21 ultra with its silicone case+s-pen? Is it that big and heavy? Any limitations? I want to upgrade from note 10 but I am worried that I may not be able to use the s-pen properly.
I have it. Fits well adds some width but no weight to speak of. S pen works well . I use a spigen case monday to Friday for more protection as I have little use for the pen at work but use it a lot at weekend
I also have it. Back in the day I had the original Note, then the Note 3, and ultimately never really used the S pen a lot, so my next phone didn't have it. I decided to try it out again and got the pen/case combo. So far, again, I haven't used it much. I do have a Spigen Liquid Air case I can switch to if I find I NEVER use the pen, but for now I'm sticking with the case+pen to keep it handy to give me a chance to find a use for it. The extra width doesn't really bother me (previous phone was an S20U).

I have it and love it.. Good protection, no extra weight basically. If you have a pet, hair tends to stick to the back of the case. Once you put it on, you will notice how the left side is thicker than the right side due to the s pen, but the feeling of the case being uneven on the sides goes away rather quickly. If you use the spen a lot, then I recommend this case.
I have it, but the s-view cover. It's just the silicon case + spen but with the flip. I love it so much, it protects your screen pretty well.
I have the silicone case with pen. For me it proves the need to keep the pan silo in the phone.
Consider that the phone is designed to hold in left hand (since most of the planet is right handed). Clipping the pen on the left edge makes for difficult removal. My pen and case sit on the desk unused for this reason.
I am using the spigen S-pen case and have no problems case was cheaper then the combo from samsung and I like it better. Highly recommend it
