I openend a thread over at the main forum for the SGS3 and boomboomer mentioned that it would be better to use this forum for the problem.

I got an I-9305 yesterday.
On this device the touchfunction won't work. I still can use a mouse in recovery. In the OS itself there is now mouse.
I thought the one who got it before me had tampered with the devices internals but the screws are all without any scratches.
Could he/she had flashed something wrong on to this device and if so can it be "repaired"?

If touch doesn't work in both recovery and OS then the digitizer is blown, usually this happens when the kernel for another model is flashed.
There is no cure for a hardware fault, other than replace the screen assembly from a second hand handset or time for a new phone.
i9305 has a separate q&a section, mainly to prevent incorrect flashing.

How can I be sure to have the right kernel right now on the system? I mean the person who gave me the phone seems to have put a original Samsungrom on it which is stuck at the first setup screen with no mouse support.
As for germany there are 4 different versions for the stock rom. Even in Odin Mode under Current Binary and System Status there is just "Custom" stated.
So there is no way to tell what Originalrom I should use so that I can safely change the display/digitizer without blowing it at first startup again?
get the latest version for your model
it doesn`t matter which country or carrier.
I have the 4.4.4 germany unbanded version DBT....flashed after i had an UK 4.3 stock version.

No not right now.
Remind me where you are getting stuck?
The tricky part is updating to 4.3 if you are on 4.2.2 and then you unlock, but if you are locked on 4.2.2 then just upgrade to 4.3 and then unlock, fastboot flash cwm and use my superuser zip to root. Easy!

All right, just let me tell you my whole story.
Someday I seemed to overcharge my tablet and thus broke the power management chip on the motherboard and then I found it stuck on the boot screen and was only able to boot to recovery. After I finally surrendered to it, I went to have Asus's guy replaced it a new motherboard, which took me like 230 bucks(much close to a new nexus 7).When I got my tablet back, it was already on 4.3 (10.26.1.18 CN), then I found it incapable to be unlocked. But I still want to root it anyway since the stock Chinese firmware is not even with GApps and lacks a lot of features that others possess. At least, I need Play Store!
Problem1: I am not sure if Asus's server records the existence or S/N of the current motherboard, which is most likely to incapacitate the unlock process.
Problem 2:
Code:
Unknown error occured, which may a network error
Please try later
That's the problem I meet all the time. I don't know if the official unlock tool is available for 4.3(the official webpage says that it is for 4.2.2 only and I can't find any other similar unlock tool for even ME302c:crying, as the firmware version is already 4.3 when I got it and it doesn't seem to be feasible fo downgrade it.
Problem 3: I have tried every root tools I know, and failed. Not possible to use the masterkey…
Thank you anyway.:victory:

Ah OK - the issue is Asus have replaced your motherboard so the mac address you are now supplying does not match the serial number of the device that they have in their database.
The ONLY way to proceed is to contact asus and get them to update their database with your new mac address - stating that you can't use their online web services like device tracking etc until they do so. They will eventually do it but if you can hold of a rep in Taiwan that will speed things up.
There is no other way.

Uh, do Asus guys have my MAC address? I am not sure.
Okay, I'll phone them tomorrow. It's quite a warm Sunday night now in China.
Thanks a lot.

Of course they do - it is tied to your wifi hardware.
I bought a second hand galaxy note 5, on the back cover of the phone the model is written SM-N920C but in download mode is written SM-N920d ! Nevertheless when I check the model at "setting/about the device" the model was SM-N920I
The problem started when my note 5 was flashed with venom rom then I accidentally formated all system files so the phone stuck in Android logo, I tried to flash the phone using Odin and SM-N920c but Odin said FAILED just when I click start. Now the phone is off for the battery is dead and it couldn't be charged , please help me to find the right flash and is there any way to flash it without download mood?
Use Kies and do an emergency recovery. It'll also be able to determine the actual model number. You probably didn't update the bootloader when usong Venom or something. Usually you want to update to the official marahmallow and then flash after that.

Thanks for your comment, I did that already but kies does not support emergency recovery for Note 5 SM-N920c!
I've used it once on my 920c when I initially messed something up. You may need to invoke download mode. Turn the phone off and hold home, volume down and power.
Oh, and there's a modern version of kies which works for modern Samsung phones only.
Did you install a custom recovery immediately after rooting? Always do this first.

N920d or N9200?
In your case, I would go with what is mentioned in the download mode since the back glass can be replaced with another model and ROM flashing can alter model # sometimes.
PS: you need to be sure that it was an original Note 5, not just a copy. I'd recommend taking it to the nearest service center to have it checked out.

Because that firmware does not exist.
It's either 920C or 920CD (for dual-sim) or 9200 for Chinese models.
The first two will have similar firmwares but the 9200 uses different one.
Have you verified exactly which model it is? What does Kies mention when you connect?

As per my search on google, the n920D is Docomo variant.
I haven't been able to find the stock firmware anywhere as of yet.
Flash a custom recovery for your variant (TWRP>others) and then flash a custome ROM that is compatible with 920D.
There must be some on XDA itself.

Symptoms
-No IMEI and no Baseband
Both say unknown.
-No signal bars
-No sim detected (with or without sim card)
-Top right gets very hot hot at times
-Battery drains pretty fast
What I've tried
-Downgrade to 4.4
- Different play-store apps
- Different modems and radios
- IMEI writers etc
-Custom roms
-Same as above with no avail
-Stock roms
-4.4 stock
-5.0 stock
-Youtube
-All types of things in videos except octoplus or whatever its called.
Please help
You have an n900a? If yes, where did you get the 4.4 and 5.0 stock ROMs? They were never released by AT&T.

I used custom roms off XDA hoping it would somehow recover missing IMEI
Is the phone an n900a?
Yes SM-n900a
Made in China
If the stock roms don't restore imei and baseband, the efs folder may be damaged. A completely stock flash may be done via JTAG.

JTAG
Long time since I've heard that.
Wish there was something I could do on my own. I was hoping maybe just a modem flash.
I'll standby for a few more days then if nothing I'll start looking into what they could do.
Where did you get the stock 4.4 and 5.0 ROMs?
Here on XDA

I believe they were both from the unified threads.
you can find 4.4.2 stock on here
then 4.4.4 and 5.0 were based on official release.
Update
Still have no clue whats wrong
Either something is really wrong on the software side of the phone beyond Odin (maybe JTAG)
OR
The Sim card slot on the phone is damaged.
The phone was given to me because the old owner was never ever to get it working and gave up.
I have the IMEI on a sticker located on the back.
(Yes I know discussion about changing IMEI etc is banned that's not what I'm here for)
My main question is what can be done if I don't have an EFS back up? Is the phone just a softbrick/parts
If so plan forward is just to use as a car dock lol.
I am in the same boat man. I do not know what to do, to get my imei back and baseband. i posted a thread as well similar to yours hopefully one of us gets a success story!!!!!!

The first step would be to try to find the proper basebands. Dont know where any of the firms are located. Im trying to dig them all up. And reupload them but may take some days. I am hoping to temperarelly revive this device as i have gotton one myself.
Best of luck

My goal as of now is to find a t mobile 1 with a broken screen and switch boards. Done with the boot loader being locked.
I was instructed to do 1 of 2 things... 1st like you said buy a busted up phone with a good logic board and swap. OR 2- buy that same junk Note3 and copy the efs files and install them into your phone and switch the imei to yours. etc... I gave up on trying to revive mine so I no longer can tell you if it works or not but it seems to be the best 2 options friend... good luck let me know if you get it with one of the options....
Hi! I have completely F***cked up my USA SM-T813. First post, so im sorry if i get posting etiquette wrong.
##TL;DR I turned my tablet into an asian one with firmware and idk how to change it back##
So, since about march of this year (2018), I had a galaxy tab s2 (sm-t813) rooted with SuperSu. I have just recently heard about Magisk and really wanted to switch. well, from what i saw on switching, i had to (obviously) uninstall SU and install magisk. while i was reading, i read that i had to do some abd bull***t and other crap. well, i guess i did that wrong, which soft bricked my tablet. I managed to fix the soft brick, but now my tablet has the firmware of an asian one. i have no clue what i need to do to fix this. I have downloaded the correct (fingers crossed) firmware, but odin wont let me put it in. It stops at "connection *something*", which when i looked up probably means i need to install the drivers for this firmware. The problem is, i dont know what nationality this firmware is.
The file i downloaded was T713ZCU2BRA4_T713CHN2BRA4_CHN
the CHN at the end made me assume it was Chinese, but when i installed the chinese drivers, it still didnt work.
if anyone could help me get this fixed and (possibly) help me get magisk installed, that would be amazing.
thanks in advance!
Coltonious
P.S. the firmware change unrooted my phone. so supersu is gone. thats a plus i guess!
##TL;DR I turned my tablet into an asian one with firmware and idk how to change it back##
What now? T713 or T813? The chinese firmware you mention is for 713 and not the other one. USA you say? Well that should be Country code XAR: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s2/SM-T713/XAR/ OR https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s2/SM-T813/XAR/ load the most recent of these fitting to your device. And yes, CHN is China. Odin drivers are not country specific. You get one working and all is fine. If you get these errors you mention then the driver is not working or is the wrong one for another device. I use the same Odin driver for all my devices I have and had from Samsung. Some more detailed error description would be useful though. If you have problems loading with reasonable speed from sammobile: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647 try this tool.
I don't know if it matters but you stated you have the sm-T813 and you are trying to install firmware for the sm-T713.

My friend flashed a ROM onto his NAND via TWRP and he bricked it, so he gave it to me. Can't get PC to recognize over USB, even after downloading android usb drivers
what do
if all else fails ill contact samsung and try to get a warranty replacement
Write the device info, and the ROM he used, and the state of the device right now.
Is the device completely black? Does it boot to download mode? Is TWRP accessible?
Once you flash TWRP, your warranty is over, your KNOX is tripped. The only thing you can do is to either fix this issue, or replace the motherboard (you'll pay for that).

what do you mean device info, like, IMEI?
this was a while ago, so it was some kind of Lineage OS ROM
It's completely black
PC notices when it's plugged in, but doesn't recognize what it is.
doesn't boot into download mode
There's nothing could go wrong, the TWRP and ROM are working fine with other users, the problem you are facing is caused by a broken block device system.
Means your friend may have flashed the wrong ROM. Your device is Snapdragon, which comes usually locked, and have to pay to unlock it.
Of course there won't be a lot of development for it, however, Exynos variants are unlocked, and has tremendous amount of development.
If you flashed a ROM built for Exynos, on your Snapdragon device (if TWRP error 7 did not stop you), it will cause this problem.
The reason is, the Exynos Kernel does not work on Snapdragon.
There's only two things I can advise you to do:
Use a Dongle Box.
Replace the motherboard.
