Hey everyone, FirstI have this problem. I haven't access to a pc, and I really want to root my Z1 c6902 with my mac
running kitkat 4.4.4
Second, For example: I find this tutorial of cyanogenmod http ://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_honami
(I know that its not just rooting, its cm, but seems to be easy on mac)
I don't know if I can follow without troubles
Any suggestions?
Thank you

First thing first, I'm a total newbie and English is not my native language. I'll try to explain my question as simple as possible.
A month ago, I bought an Xperia Z (C6603) and it had Android 4.2.2 (10.3.1.A.2.67) installed. I decided to root it by using:
DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit
XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.1.A.2.67.ftf
XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.A.0.423_Generic_NL.ftf
These are the only 3 things that I use to root my device. I finally managed to root my device after lots of trial and error. So I don't know if I have CWM or unlocked Bootloader stuff after the root simply because I'm not an expert but one thing for sure, I've successfully root my device.
Recently, I noticed that there is Android 4.3 (10.4.B.0.569) update available for Xperia Z. Therefore, I really want to update my device from ROOTED Android 4.2.2 (10.3.1.A.2.67) to ROOTED Android 4.3 (10.4.B.0.569) but how?
I know that we have a lot of tutorials available on the forums and we got Google too but they are very confusing. So I hope someone could help me via this thread and I'll really appreciate it. Thanks!

For C6603: Download C6603.flashable.10.4.B.0.569.zip, SuperSU_fix.zip (1.1Mb) and C6603_10.4.B.0.569_Stripped.ftf (18MB), save it somewhere you remember;
2. Put 'C6603.flashable.10.4.B.0.569.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
3. Put 'C6603_10.4.B.0.569_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
4. Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
5. Flash 'C6603.flashable.10.4.B.0.569.zip' in TWRP, after flashing the ROM also flash 'SuperSU_fix.zip',
do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
6. Flash everything in 'C6603_10.4.B.0.569_Stripped.ftf';
7. Reboot to system without clearing (dalvik-/)cache.

I'd like to know this myself.
I have a feeling a flash to an earlier version is needed. I've tried several outdated roots with no joy.
OP you will probably get ignored or told to read a 100 page thread.
Use Easy root for xperia
google it
I know, right! Well, don't download the EasyRoot because afterwards it asks for a key and the website to get it from doesn't even function (unstableapps.com).
i think we may just have to go back to iPhone, or wait for a truly customizable new platform, where you can change battery icons and fully control your device. there doesn't seem a way to utilize our phones any longer.

New Root. I didn't have any issues. Installed a recovery too
Newroot newroot newroot!
Guys just go to this thread and download this tool by munjeni. Easiest root unroot you can find. No need to go back to an older firmware n all. Just hit root/unroot and you are all set. Make sure you install proper phone drivers though. PC companion should show that c6902 connected. I had a slight issue while rooting since the phone was not getting detected. Simply reinstall PC companion and you are good to go.

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/general/root-sony-xperia-z1-lollipop-5-0-2-t3127112. U need to download .apk to phone only.
I updated to lollipop then rooted by kingoroot, much easier
Hello,
Have tried multiple different root programs (kingroot, superroot etc) via both pc and phone. Some attempt to root and then say either failed or denied. Others tell me device not supported.
To search online it seems easy to root a phone but based on my experience I am feeling it cannot be done on my phone. I have tried methods listed specifically for my phone and 5.1.1 and nothing works.
Please let me know if it can be done and if so how.
Thanks
Without downgrade to kk, no. Guide is in General section
Yes you can. I just did mine in fact. I cant leave a link as I am a junior member but look for the post titled " How-to: root, keep and backup DRM keys, etc. [KitKat/Lollipops]" in the general section. Goodluck
Hi... Kingroot works with 5.0.2 on Z3Compact Stock
hey guys
im very noob for mobile programming, so can u guys just give me a blunt yet gentle response, how to root an untouched Xperia Z C6603 5.1.1? (in very detail, pretty please?)
i just upgraded to 10.7.a.0.222 yesterday, my mind had been juggling off since i bought this phone 2 years ago, whether to root or not this....
with all the kinds of unfamiliar term used for rooting process (ROM, bootloader, flash, etc), i've come to realization, ROOTING is not for beginners, especially if they first time want to root their devices...
so could u all masters help to enlighten my poor, poor knowledge in rooting process?
pretty please?:fingers-crossed:
It's simple but time consuming
Hello!
If you have a LOCKED Bootloader.
First of all, you need to go back to Android v. 5.0.2
1. So, make the downgrade using Sony FlashTool, for example. Don't forget to backup all your data.
2. Root v. 5.0.2 with KingRoot (just install the attached apk)
3. Install and execute com.supersume.apk (attached) to replace the KingRoot with SuperSU
4. Install a recovery using EasyRootTool v12.4 (attached)
5. Copy any PRE-ROOTED v. 5.1.1 ROM to your SD Card and flash the ZIP from the recovery.
Alternatively - keep everything as it is and wait till they implement a new version of the KingRoot. The one from 5 Sep. 2015 doesn't support v. 5.1.1 yet.
Hope it helps. All detailed instructions how to flash ROMs (using the FlashTool and the recovery) can be found on the XDA Developers Website.

This is how you create and flash a rom(flash a 10.5.1.A.0.283 or 10.5.1.A.0.292).

This is how you root!

Then flash this rom in recovery!
