I have noticed some apps the nav bar disappears amd I have a full screen viewing experience. Others do not. Is there any way to force other apps to run with a hidden nav bar without rooting?

Yes it does indeed hide the nav bar on the programs you want it to but it has many undesired side effects. Mainly, not being able to call up the keyboard when needed after clicking a text entry point. You have to swipe up to expose the Nav bar and then it will show. Also, some games won't even launch unless you first swipe up the nav bar to launch game. Also if you are using a custom launcher, and you use a dock with a folder editor program, the shortcuts will not appear until you swipe up the nav bar. Some programs like Pandora and Maps do not display correctly and will be distorted until you expose the Nav bar. I have had the Pro version for months and the developer has not offered any update to it at all, so buyer beware. Cheap enough not to be to upset but it's not a perfect solution.

Hi,
I'm searching for a possibility to unhide a hidden notification bar only then when a notification is there.
I dont want to unhide it via home-button or gesture, it shall appear when there is a notifiction.
someone have an idea, how to solve this?

I think this would be a wonderful tweak! Here's hoping a willing developer sees this.
I was about to say I'm all for this, but then I realized showing signal strength is kinda important no? And battery life, but a widget on the home screen can solve that.
That would be pretty sweet
Look for a launcher in the market one of them does this...I forget which though, sorry

^ADW launcher does this I believe. I may be wrong though.
use adw. you can hide it then use a gesture to unhide it.

He doesn't want a gesture to it tho.

Well using gestures, use the up swipe to hide/unhide the status bar and downswipe to open up the notifications, so you can open notifications by down swipe and when you close it the status bar automatically hides... and this is possible in ADW. That's the best option I can think of, I myself use that

while i am no tasker genius or for that matter user even. i feel that this might be able to be accomplished with tasker and a launcher that has the option to hide the status bar. since tasker waits for something to happen such as receiving a notification you could then have tasker execute showing the status bar and then hiding it once there are no more notifications. in adw you can set up an icon to show and hide the status bar and also as mentioned before use a gesture. idk if tasker can use a gesture or icon. but if it can then an icon that is placed somewhere within the launcher for its executing could be used. if you didnt want it visible it could be hid in the hidden dock bar to hide and also to use, if for some reason you needed to access the status bar. idk im just speculating. if someone was more familiar with tasker could chime in and maybe give more insight on if this is plausible or not would be interesting.
You could keep it hidden and use tasker to show toast (pop up) notifications , I think its possible

I'm currently using Omega StatusBar but it's buggy at best. After enabling in accessibility settings I find that the counters are frequently incorrect, apps stick around after clearing notifications, and ongoing notifications don't play very nice.
Anyone using a statusbar with more success? Which one?
I'm looking for any which display icons for notifications rather than the vague circle with a number within it as present in the stock os. It's good to see what's going on at a glance without swiping down.

+1 want to know the best bar too xD
I wasn't even able to get Omega StatusBar to display notifications on my 8.9" HD. As soon as I turned on the "accessibility" option necessary for it to intercept notifications, I got a force close.
I've tried a couple of other status bar replacements from the Play store with the same results -- all fail turning accessibility on. I've seen reports of other 8.9" users having the same problem.
I would certainly like to hear of a working status bar that doesn't have this problem.
The stock status bar works.

You have to go to the Kindle's settings -> accessibility -> then turn on the option for Omega Statusbar accessibility.
From there you can turn on the accessibility within Omega's app. It might force close but it will work.
At that point when you open the Omega app you will want to hit the button on the top-right-most of the screen. It turns on the status bar. You should instantly see the statusbar pop up.
It doesn't always clear notifications though. I guess this is an android limitation with what gets sent to the accessibility api.
Hope that works for you.

Oh and if you're stock or stock rooted and you don't have accessibility settings within the Kindle's settings menu use KFHD Extended Settings to access it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124384

Thanks, I got it working. It wasn't worth it, though. Wasn't much of a functional improvement, didn't look that much better, and the old status bar would show up in flashes now and then.
Maybe the stock toolbar isn't that bad...

Yeah.. And even moving to /system/app doesn't make a difference unfortunately. At least when the stock toolbar says 10 notifications, its really 10 notifications. I'm confident some ROM will get something stable going though, just a matter of time.

Is there a way to change the icons that show in the status bar without having to switch to an entire other status bar? I'm referring to the parental controls, wifi and battery icons that appear in the top right corner. I'd like to customize those. Possible?
This is my first android with soft buttons, and coming from the DNA's 5" screen I would like to hide the navbar to get more screen space during games. I have root, and I tried GMD auto hide but when I hid the bar the phone just kept crashing. I just downloaded ultimate dynamic navbar and it says the safe way is to get XPOSED and install a module. Where do I find XPOSED? I had a MotoXposed but it didn't have the hid navbar option (and I couldn't get any of the other options to stick anyways) So is anyone out there using an app to hide the navbar on their Moto x? Thanks!

MotoXposed (as well as the option you are talking about in UDN) require the Xposed Framework to be installed. You download Xposed Installer, install the Framework with that app, and then activate the desired modules within that app.
Go nova settings/look and feel/ un check show nav bar.
The option in nova is notification bar! I tried the usual methods. But get system ui errors. Build prop edit will get rid of it, but that's for good.

To do this with Nova Launcher purchase version will be needed. Go to Nova Settings/ Gestures and Buttons/ then pick a gester like swipe down/ Toggle Notification bar. You would have to toggle the Notification bar before opening the app.
I hope this helps.
You can always just hide it using that build.prop edit then use pie launcher (lmt launcher) to be your nav bar

This app will help you hide the navbar, and replace it with Pie gestures when you swipe from the sides of the screen. there's lots of customization that comes with it as well. Have fun!

So I turned off my Galaxy Note 8's navbar, doing so I lost the ability to screen record games from the navbar. Is there anyway I can get this feature back without the Navbar? Thanks in advance. (More specifically I'm talking about Game Tools)
I'm using game launcher on mine and my nav bar stays hidden. But the record function is there whenever I have a game open just have to swipe up from the bottom..

I'm using the Tigerhoods overlay which disables the navbar, I can't swipe up or anything. I know what your talking about but I sadly can't do that since I don't have the navbar anymore.

I have bxactions installed and for some reason it messes with the navigation bar on my phone. That's why I can't reinstall the navigation bar. It doesn't work well with bxactions.
hi everyone. is there a way to keep the Navigation Bar on S10 from hiding itself in apps like Snapchat and just make the bar be visible permanently? Ideally would like to reduce the screen size to end at the Nav Bar top border and not having a Nav Bar as overlay, if that makes sense. thanks!

i have Nova installed. i was unable to find an option for that. i did find a somewhat of a work around and that was by installing Good Lock app from galaxy apps and then adding on a One Hand Operation+ extension to it. i can swipe from the edge side and have nav buttons pop up that i can sticky. its not the best solution, but it works. kinda disappointed that for a $900 phone you can't customize it.. AND they removed led notification lights.. wtf
