In your opinion, I would like to know which rom gave you a better battery life. And also the types of things you do on your phone, such as movies or games, and as well as the max hours/days you can push out from the device from each roms.
running on arhd 1.0.4.. so far so good. nothing out of the ordinary though in terms of batt life compared to the stock rom
ARHD +1
and I also don't like the CM camera app, but that's offtopic here
After testing both, ARHD 1.0.4 seems to be better. Let's see when CM7 will be Released and not Beta.
Running on ARHD 1.0.4 and the battery life is better than the stock ROM. Not tested with other roms.
how much better is it? i don't think the difference is much although i've only been in ARHD for the IS
I charge the phone at night. I use the phone every hour (Whatsapp, twitter..) and the battery is 40% at the end of the day. With the stock rom the battery is at 25 / 30%. (Sorry for my bad english)
Mike's Android Revolution HD 1.0.3 + HTC Sense 3.0 "All in 1" v0.3
Full charge 100% in the morning starts @ 06:21hrs till 22:30hrs (15+ hours usage)
- on my way to work GPS is ON Copilot Live 8 ~ 27km approx 15-20mins drive
- WIFI is always on (i used manual sync) Friends Stream, Weather, News and etc.
- Display settings = 70%
- Android Assistant 2.3.7
My day ends mostly @ 22:30hrs and my battery is still = 27% (I charge till I wake up) .. Moreover, I drain my battery during weekends..
Battery log file based on CurrentWidget reading..
ARHD very very much better compared to stock rom!
pretty normal battery usage
gazillion percent improvement compared to STOCK ROM!
Today with ARHD 1.0.4 : Nothing really special except looking on news on XDA ans facebook + Usual sunc (Facebook, gmail). Wifi and GPS off.
Fully charged this morning (8h00) -> Still 80% now (WoWWW)
ive had both ARHD and CM7 and for me, CM7 has been much better.
i always have wifi, mobile networks (2g+3g) and gps on.
syncing fb and twitter every 30mins, pushing gmail automatic latitude checkins and some 3 news feeds syncing every hour (although sometimes these dont work)
a few days ago, i didnt use the phone for much at all except those things and a few calls text - low "phone" usage AND the above.
it lasted me um.... just over 60 hours i reckon.
off charge 7.30am thurs morning, died on me on saturday evening about 8pm.
never thought id have managed that using a smartphone as a smartphone

Really 60 hours with minimum use damn, i do minimum use like just text, no calls, no internet, and i got only probably 1 day and 18 hours ~ 42 hours on ARHD. The last time i was on CM7 i think i pushed my INCS to about the same hours as ARHD but i always get this nagging feeling that ARHD has better battery life. I should really do extensive test but i dont have time ahahaha.
i'm getting around 18-24 hrs of normal usage. that's with wifi on almost all of the time and mobile data on for 9 hours. i'm getting almost the same with the stock rom. using arhd 1.0.4 btw
i've seen guys say they have great battery performance while others don't with them on the same rom, can't really explain it.
but using the phone in minimum with data off and lasting more than a day is not really good for me. it's a smartphone, then use it as a smartphone.
id rather have everything n and then have to charge everynight
I guess I must use mine more than others. Using Revolution HD 1.0.4 and can get maybe 12 hours of usage on it. I don't use any battery managers or anything like that. I put on current widget. Seems that ~40mA is normal for idle (at least on mine)
Ok...this is going to sound completely outrageous! It seems outrageous to me even I have never had this good of battery consumption ever! The phone was purchased 16/08/10 and has retained the standard battery all this time and had various Samsung ROMs on it. Mostly DarkyROMs that have improved battery quite considerably. It currently has its first stable ROM of ICS since I started flashing ICS from just prior to RC1. The ROM is a bit of a mix-matched frankenstein build of a ROM by me originated from MyICS and OneCosmis RC3.1. I have recently experienced allot of issues (including very poor battery drain) prior to this last flash and so have many of my users...actually most jumping **** (and I don't blame them).
My last ROM flash seemed to stable and go through perfectly, I was running with my own 2.0.1 and was about to release this ROM (that I'm currently on from a system dump) as a 2.2.0 version update for everyone else.....however I have held back because of the announcement of RC4.....so any of the improvements I haven't released. The install procedure backs up battery stats so as not to need re-calibration and has done so for the last 3 or 4 install. I am running the latest platypus kernel made for RC4 though
Anyway the last time I had my phone on any decent charge 22hours ago. It's currently 10.40pm EST and phone went on charge about 12.30pm lastnight. Since then I have had data left on (something I wouldn't normally do...I was used to renaming APN prior to ICS) and wifi on* (granted I have latest Juice defender ultimate)
*set to trained locations to auto-on within 250m of known wifi access point and disable 3G when wifi connected
I have gone the whole day today, with a small amount of internet (damn genie widget gets me every time with cool interesting things flashing up on the screen lol) and moderate phone usage; texting and a hand full of 10-15min phone calls....nothing out of the ordinary.
I plugged the phone to USB to transfer some things from work and it was plugged in for approximately 15-20seconds. I use multi-mount SD card app (I have included the lite version in my ROM) and allows for fast transactions and also to be able to use the phone whilst connected etc (read up about it). And I did the same here at home to transfer the things off again. It has remained sitting beside my PC untouched (unusual cause I like to fiddle) for the last 3 hours...and decided to pick it up and glaced at the battery 90%. Ok so I waited another hour and glanced again and STILL 90%.
Is there something weird going on here that I should know about? My phone has never been this good even if I left it completely on standby and in flight mode it would have eaten more than that! It seems almost stupidly impossible.
Fill me in on your take of this situation? Happy to do a complete system dump to try figure this sh!t out cause I made so many mods last ROM update I wouldn't know which one is contributing or if all or none?
edit: included more information
It's now 2:20am I am going to bed. My phone is 86%
A drop of only 4% in nearly 4hours. 1% per hour is not too bad
How do you handle synchronization, and why kind of tweaks do you perform with juicedefender?
heh i know what you mean
Im using as well icssgs rc4 (pulled) for 3 days, and right now i have 10% left after 29 hours of using my phone as wifi, downloading, sync, calls, sms and some music, all i can say is that rc4 +platypus kernel is the beast for the battery. my phone never lasted for such a long time, even on rc3.1 it used to die after 18 hours of being idle.
Reporting
7am 77%
10am 62%
10.55am - poor signal and market prompted to download an update for LinkedIn battery has plumited to 23%
36hours use and still 23% battery is pretty good. At least the resil
I will be making a deodexed version of RC4 sometime soon with a few extra bonuses ....however it won't be all that special as I have been giving away my secrets everywhere on the forum to help others on any ROM (not just my own) so anything included in my next release will be old news lol
Juice defender? Tweaks? I am not sure what you mean? You mean what are my settings?
Ok...wtf? Battery is climbing back up again now? That is something that has never happened before! Im on 26% again
realy ? ))
Offfical time of death 4.34pm EST. approximately 40hours after full charge. I am stoked with that.
Edit: I will be making a donation to Platypus Kernel right now
Can you tell which rom you had before flashing rc4 and another question are you experiencing any other problems with the rom like sd problems because im considering to go rc4 too.

I am still running RC3.1, I am just using the RC4 kernel
I am in the process of developing my own RC4 ROM based off this RC3.1 (my own version of it anyway) that is the first ROM I have that is stable. All versions of my ROMs prior to this have been very unstable. ROM is still odexed so that will be my first point of call and then repackage and get it up and running.
I am in the process of compiling some java code for wifi calling on vibrant though so I am too busy to even start on my ROM
Has anyone else with an AT&T One converted to GPE 4.4 been experiencning horrifying battery life? I am running an entirely stock GPE conversion, including recovery, kernel, etc, latest firmware, radio, etc. On a fresh install (NO Google settings changed from defaults), off Wi-Fi and with consistent good LTE signal, my phone will drain from 100% to 75% in about 2 hours. That is with no apps installed and a screen-on time of only 45 minutes, texting and web browsing. Such battery drain is very consistent.
With all of my usual apps installed, some of which include GroupMe, Facebook, Maps, and a couple others, battery life doesn't change for better or worse.
And this has always been the case for me with any sort of GPE conversion. Well, with any ROM for that matter. I had the same astronomically bad battery life when I OTA'd from stock to AT&T 4.3. In fact, the ONLY time my phone has what I would consider good battery life is when running stock AT&T 4.1.2. I can reach up to 3.5 hours of screen-on time over the course of a day and a half that way.
Anyone else? Lots of threads and complaints about this, but I'm wondering if having an AT&T phone converted to an "international"/"Google Play Edition"/"Developer Edition" is to blame some how? Radio perhaps?
me too
++terible battery life...s-off unlocked vodafone version converted to wwe 4.3 unrooted all stock. It seems that this is an android 4.3 issue thar remains in 4.4....
Yes, 4.3 seems better. I only used few days. Need to use bit long to see.

You have to give the phone time to adjust to the new software. Give it a few charge cycles.
I cannot remember how the battery life was for me on sense 4.1.2 because i installed a GPE 4.3 ROM and the batterly life was terrible on that. I ran battery calibration multiple times because my charge would go from 14% to 1%; powering off in less than a minute. Now i did do the conversion to GPE the other day and like you i am running the stock kernel, recovery, radio, firmware etc etc and the battery life compared to the ROM is amazing. I also enabled ART immediately so i cannot compare it to dalvik, but you may want to try that out.

Would you mind telling me what firmware you are running? The latest GPE 4.4? I used ART for a few days and don't recall a difference, but I'm currently going back to it to see if things improve.
I use to be able to get 4.5-5 hours screen time, but now I am only get like 2.5 hours at most. My usage and location has not changed, nor as apps or rom. So, I am not sure what happened. Is there an app that can tell me what is happening? I am running xdabbeb rom(version before 2.0). I Friday installed Dori 7.3 kernel, but no help there. I will try anotehr rom, but I am wating for 25b to come out and tested before trying. Already had the phone replaced once for battery(and headphone port) related issues, and another time for different issue(follies of getting a refurbished phone from VZW), and I really don't want to get another replacement, too much bad luck right now. Thanks

Install a wakelock detector, see what is keeping your phone from sleeping....
I am starting to notice idle battery life isn't bad for me, it's the on screen battery life. I usually have sync off, gps off, data off(at work) with wifi on, and screen set to 40%. So, I am not sure how people are getting 5-7 hours when I am getting around 3 hours.
I'm on my 2nd refurb (screen issues) and this one has sucked compared to my other two. I live in a weak signal area but I used to get 4 SOT hrs and+ 18 hrs uptime but now I get can barely get 2.5 hrs and 14 hrs uptime. I also have more heat with this phone. Don't know if verizon changed anything or if an app changed but I've experienced it on stock and XDABBEB 2.0 with multiple kernels which leads me to think it's network related for me. YMMV.
Just wanted to say, back when the phone first released and I bought it, I use to get the 5+ hours of screen on time. Now that I am on 4.4 and just updated to the new release the other day, I am definitely getting crap battery life. I believe it's been like this for a while, but definitely can barely make it through a day on moderate usage now. I am sitting at 28% battery left, with total 12 hours of usage, Screen on 17% with Screen on time of 1hour 24mins.
Hmm,that isnt normal yesterday i had 7,5hours
I have lost about 30% or more of my battery life since I got this phone a year ago. When it was new, 4 to 4.5 sot was pretty common. Now 2.5 to 3. I know 4.4 had some negative impact on my battery.
Hey guys,
unfortunately there are no custom roms that fit my preferences. i took a deep look at the MXROM V8.0.0 and the Rock Z1L 4.0, but these two roms are not what i'm searching for. I want a rom that is really stable and doesn't run out of battery midday.
So i want to return back to Stock.
i would like to know how i get the best experience using the .236 stock rom in terms of battery life and smoothness.
What mods or apps can i use to have the best battery life and remove those annoying wakelocks?
What mods or apps can i use to have a lag free rom?
thanks in advance!

What do you expect to hear?
My answer is: there is no global solutions we can give to your question. There are so many things you can do.
It all begins how you use your phone. Do you need the performance the phone offers all the time?
For example in my case no. I am no gamer at all. I use my phone the friendly way. Do some calls, some messaging, browse the Web, taking some photos. So I limit the phones cpu performance to 1.4 GHz. This for example saves battery.
Lollipop has got the active radio bug. You can get rid off it with the help of xposed framework.
You can for example Greenify apps to prevent high wakelocks.
Did you notice a massive difference between stock and MX in terms of battery? I tried both and had no noticeable difference.
Thank you for your replies!
I usually use my phone for browsing the internet, instant messaging, calling and 9gag. I'm not using my phone for games. Usually my screenbrightness is on very low.
With MX rom i had big drops while my phone was on stand by (from 70% to 63% in 4 hours). Screen on time was worse. Before i was on stock .216 and there was no big battery drops at all!
Greenyfy is a good start! What xposed module are you talking about for the radio active bug?

First of all, if you still have the original battery, it probably has lost at least 50% of its holding capacity or more. Second, when you say stand by, you are not telling us what apps or services are running. Third, the major contributors to wasting battery are Google apps, facebook, what's up and similar apps. Next comes sony bloat with all their albums and other crap. So, if you have them, your battery won't last.
I have used stock and all available custom roms. With the exception of a worse camera quality in low light conditions (no difference whatsoever in daylight), custom roms are vastly superior in all aspects. That also includes overheating. Yes, stock roms overheat more, because they won't let you use tools available in custom roms.
Greenify: although, it does the job, the app itself consumes battery, which negates the benefits. Also, remember that when you flash every other day, you don't give your current rom the time to settle, and that usually takes a couple of battery cycles when the rom works extra time setting/reading partitions and as a result, you will always have more heat and loss of battery juice. You won't let the rom settle and instead move to another rom and start the cycle again. This way, you will never find a suitable rom whether stock or custom.
If you prefer stock, then root, get rid of bloat, get a firewall and deny access to all apps, except the ones you want to connect to the internet. And stay with it for at least 10 days. But then, I promise, you will discover what I said above is true...
P.S. Radio active bug: the module does NOT fix the problem, it just changes the way it is reported. This is why neither Google nor Cyanogen people have accepted the patches, which irritated the hell out of that guy, who thinks he knows "the inner workings of android" better than others....
wow thanks a lot bredrin! Gonna try this when i reach home, except advanced kernel. I'm on locked bootloader.
