No, however you have to have custom recovery. Install instructions are in original topic.
i've succeeded ! first installed through odin the rooted XXANI4 rom and afterwards i was able to install the latest kit kat version for the S3 mini, and everything works !

If you flash a rooted ROM you'll be rooted. If you flash an unrooted ROM (and a stock ROM is unrooted), you'll still have to root.
Kingo is a lot easier than flashing a ROM is all you want to accomplish is rooting. Flash a ROM if it's different than the ROM you're running, and you want those differences. (If you're at NB4, use Kingo 1.5 or earlier, the latest one (1.6, IIRC) won't do NB4.)

Just tried this ROM today. Really like it. Faster than my stock, and even some welcome UI improvements!
I just have one question. Is it possible to apply the 20c (the newest one that came out in germany) update somehow?
Can´t seem to find a way that doesn´t put the phone back into unrooted stock state.
Guys..can someone help me..I need to install recovery in my LG p880 bit for that I need to update to v20 where as mine is v10.but since I've rooted my mobile,I have to do it through flashing kdz files but am not able to find that kdz-update folder anywhere at all..kindly help me..what should I do now?how can I install a custom Rom in my mobile...thank u.

I followed the instructions, did clean install of TWRP 2.8.6.0, did full wipe, flashed the rom, flashed G-apps, and you say first boot is long, but its been 3 hours and it still hasnt loaded... just shows the guy and the circle just keeps changing colors.... pressing any button does nothing.

I installed it this morning. It adds an "close all" button to the active apps list and the led is working now even in silent mode.
afaik the only option to root (especially with locked bootloader) is to downgrade to 23.0.A.0.93, root your device and than upgrade while retaining your root access.

pretty sure I read that the OTA update will remove root access.
The update will remove root no matter if it OTA or through computer, click here to go to a thread with pre rooted zips for this firmware
