Forum Rule 12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails, you may then contact a Moderator and provide clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in the copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence that it was you who created the work, then in the spirit of sharing, all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by that developer. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie, allowing certain people to use it and not others). If the developer decides to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes available for all to use, albeit with the relevant credit displayed.
When permission has already been given, unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under extreme circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.

A little over a month ago we made a promise, get us an HTC Incredible and we will give you a Rom. You, our fans and supporters came together and got us that phone. For Ruby we don't want to just straight port our original Sapphire rom to the Incredible, but that isn't a bad place to start. All standard features such as internal storage, camera, mms, sms, everything else you would expect to work does plus what has been added already to Sapphire. More phone specific optimizations will be added in the future, such as trackball wake, etc.

For all of you Sapphire users out there we haven't forgotten about you either. With this release you will see a refining of the volume rocker music skipping. We have incorporated the modifications from Alankila for Digital Signal Processing, makes for some pretty awesome music! Stagefright has been re-enabled, and all of the kernels now have the new interactive governer as an option in SetCPU as well.

I want to put this on my droid, but never messed with anything like this. Is there a noob friendly guide showing me step by step what i need to do including backing up contacts and all that stuff?

What Google is doing here is absolutely ****ing classic!!
I don't condone piracy but I also don't condone third parties being cost money in the dispute between copyright holders and copyright infringers.
Under the DMCA copyright holders are allowed to issue takedown requests for supposed infringements. Well instead of them taking on the actual sites that hold the offending materials or torrents, they have started sending takedown requests to search engines. Thus costing a third party money. Many search engines are considering starting to charge for requests. And rightly so.
Last week Google alone received over 700,000 requests.
A few weeks ago, Google started publishing stats for these requests.
Well now they have started publishing the actual requests. ROTFLMAO.
What this does is actually create a database of links to "pirated" material.
So copyright holders have their takedown requests published. Those requests contain links to the offending material. So they have accomplished NOTHING. Additionally, they now have to issue another takedown request to Google for the aforementioned original takedown request. Well that gets published and, boom, another link to pirated material is generated and published.
And so on, and so on, and so on.......
It is puuuuuurrrree genious/evil!!!

A lot of us contribute to the uccw app by sharing what we create. Through this sharing we've seen some amazing and creative things be born. We share with everyone with the assumption the work shared is not exploited for profit by some person who just rebrands it with a different name, and sells it as their own. In most cases a courtesy email is not even given asking for permission to use the work. Understanding it is distributed freely by the creator, they still have creative rights to that skin if you decide to redistribute for sale.
That being said I've always been taught to do the right things growing up, like don't lie, don't steal and be generous when you're able. So... since some people find it hard to do so, I think it would be beneficial to maintain a thread of shame listing those users who operate outside the realm of honesty. Thefts who are caught stealing other people's skins/work without permission will be posted here and 'outed'.
Let's see if public shame can do what your sense of right & wrong could not.

As the new kids on the block, ChameleonOS would like to invite everyone to join our theme contest! We are only as good as our users, and while we are bringing new innovations to AOSP, we would love to see you bring new innovations to the user interface! In the end, we want everyone to enjoy their experience using ChaOS, what better way to do so than having a little fun while handing out a few prizes.
Theme rules:
Theme must be submitted to [email protected] by August 15th 2013. Please ensure a download link is provided to the ChameleonOS staff with your submission.
Staff of ChameloenOS will not be eligible for this contest, this includes all developers, maintainers and current staffed themers.
Theme must be in a ChameleonOS format (see here).
Theme must be completely original. This means no ports, and no themes based on ports.
