Looks like something with VR got hung. I'd go wipe the cache and data for those apps, then reboot the phone.
Without root your only other option is to factory reset the device.

Thank you! I'll try that and see what happens.

Before anyone can be of much help, we will need to know what is causing the drain. Use an app called Waklock Detector to get 12 hours' of info, then post screenshots of those readings. That will tell you what is causing the drain.

Wow cell standby is killing your battery, but it's definitely not normal at all. Almost completely drained in 5 hours with the screen off most the time...
Wake locks don't even look too bad...

Bad battery?

That kinda drain has got to be something other than apps cause wow ive never seen battery life so bad especially not being rooted

Debloat your phone and get rid of all carrier iq. Cell standby keep on cause an app is causing it to drain. You may need a full wipe cause something hung up.

i got a new battery and still the same.

If u like stock like me flash jovy stock deodex or one of the others has a few stock but has slight mods to it. I am using jovy and it is great no issues at all. But u need to wipe for a clean install to help ya with the cell standby.

ive tried both jovy and even some of the other that used jovy with clean install. probably something is wrong with the phone itself.

I've had relatively poor battery life as well... I went 12 hours with a recharge from 10 to 50% again before it completely drained...
I'm not impressed with the battery on this phone but everything else has been great.
... I'm starting to think I'll have to make my own Qi Charger for pant pockets... embed it in your pocket so whenever the phone is there it's charging. I'm seriously considering trying this to see if it's possible... if so, i'm doing it for sure. Or a carrying case with an extra battery and a Qi Charger... or a Qi charger dock for the car... you get the idea. Wireless charging shouldn't be the fix for poor battery life, but it definitely could help it.

Task managers mess around with Android's memory management and it is fairly well known that they usually end up draining more battery than they save. Try getting rid of it.
Also other people are reporting that the battery life gets better after a few days of using. Is yours really new? Im not sure how true that is btw.
Probably a combination of that task killer and a wake lock.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Install Franco's kernel. Battery life has been outstanding (1 Gmail account sync, 1 Exchange account sync, maybe 30 minutes of calls and 100+ texts a day; I have location services & Google Now enabled as well). I average 3+ hours screen on time and I normally end the day around 30% ...
I would stay away from task managers ... it's not that I know what's going on more than you or anyone else, but well established and respected kernel developers recommend against it. If these guys don't know then I honestly don't know who else does ...

just uninstalled advanced task manager to diagnose the problem, and so far it still remains, so the task manager is not that problem.

1. remove the task killer, you REALLY don't need it
2. Install BetterBatteryStats http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
3. Go on a wakelock witch hunt.
Question: were you on the same WiFi network the whole time? Is it your home network?

Yep...20-30 minutes won't tell the tale. I'd also recommend Brightness Toggle widget...allows a few extra steps (16 total, IIRC) of brightness control over stock, to fine tune screen brightness, often another culprit.
Turn off location access!!

I hadnt noticed it myself, I will have a look soon though
Same issue here..
Almost 200mb via 3G and 2GB on wifi.
It was done during the 1st week after flashing JB, it did the same after flashing another JB ver.
Hmm I never had this issue...1.5 GB for one month is a lot! Looking at the graph I think some app or data was downloaded in one instance (looking at the vertical leaps). And this was repeated at least 3 times within the month. Judging from the leap sizes the downloaded content was about 150-200 MB?
I am having this issue as well, the difference is that in my phone takes 8-10 megabytes per day. Using the better battery stats this is what I found
Do you have any idea what can I do?
Thanks

Mine uses very little, don't use wifi very often though. Have a 2gb data plan and wifi in the house is poor
Same here. Every rom has crappy battery life with data on. A lot of wakeups. On wifi everything is ok. Probably a ril problem, maybe some devs will figure it out.

I don't have the high android OS usage anymore but i still have crappy battery life with 3G on. Last night i worked 3 hours, didn't use my phone and it went down 10% o.o. Every forum has the same answer: 3G is a batterysucker, but this wasn't the case with my Xperia Arc and my Nokia e71, those phones gave me a great batterylife on 3G. I really hope someone can find a solution for this, because now i can never make it through the day with 3G, while with wifi i can make it through two days.
I posted a thread on Original Development area. Please post ideas there. Thank you!

Yes. I always drain the first charge till completely shuts off and start analyzing during the next full charge.
The only thing i'm facing after update via PCC is random reboots. Happens twice today.
Might try wiping.
I did also experience extreme power drain after upgrading to KitKat. In my case it was media server that seemed to run constantly. After some investigation and trials it turmed out that there was something on the SD card that did not play well with KitKat. If removed my SD card the power consumption was normal but as soon as I put the SD card in the phone media server started to drain the battery really fast.
I have now formated the SD card in the phone and are putting things back and so far the power consumptiomn seems normal. :cyclops:

+1 bro, I have to agree with you. My battery has actually improved a lot. So far I have had no issues with the update.
as a side note, I see some ppl complaining about the black notification drawer been ugly and too black etc. For me I absolutely love this new look! I think it shows your notifications clearer in a clean sleek fashion. As they say, once you go black you can never go back (lol) I guess you can't please everybody tho.

It didn't work for me, Battery is still being drained at an alarming rate, with "mediaserver" and "media" processes as the main culprits.
This happens only when the SD card is inserted, but all my music and photos are on it. With the SD card, the phone is pretty much useless now, as the battery lasts barely 4 hours in idle mode. This update is simply horrible.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this?

Changes in 5.1.1

Figure it would be nice to have a thread of changes we have found in 5.1.1
For me the UI feels a LITTLE more responsive, nothing major. That's all I have seen.
What about others?
For me so far it has been better standby time. Battery.
I notice somewhat better performance in general, phone just feels a little snappier. Battery life obviously can't be judged yet, might factory reset later if it gets worse (stupid Google Play Music device limit).
This is super minor, but I notice that the time it takes for the phone to verify the encryption passphrase is about half of what it was. And most people will likely not care about this either, but the T-Mobile jingle aligns with the T-Mobile white screen during boot up now.
Agree it's very very early, but I had pretty bad battery drain for the first few hours after I updated. Cleared cache via the stock recovery and it seems to be much better.
Definitely feels snappier.. I've noticed slightly better battery life.. But I can't really tell yet.. Just gotta use the phone and figure out any immediate changes

I just cleared my cache with stock recovery too, and when it rebooted, it said the update failed, which is strange since I updated it 11 hours ago, and I'm definitely on 5.1.1.

I noticed that too. I had to reboot twice into recovery (had to go back into Android because I needed to decrypt my phone to clear cache). Both times it said "Installing system update". No ertror mesage, though.
Updated this morning. Played around with my phone for a bit and then did a factory reset for the heck of it. So far it's pretty decent. I like the new camera feature and the removable S Finder and Quick Connect boxes too. I've been running it with everything turned on for almost a month and was getting great battery life. So far the battery is doing pretty good as I'm using it quite heavily.

Android system highest battery usage help me find the problem?

As the title states I'm having an issue which a lot of people have generally and some find fixes others don't, I've looked around tried a few things but none seems to solve the problem! Now I'm running the latest version of Rapture ultimate variant on 5.0.1, the first night after installing this rom I was at 100% didn't charge once throughout the whole day, screen was #1 on battery drainage, had a decent SOT of 6 hours and 30 minutes I believe that's good but you tell me [emoji14], anyways the following days it's been android system with an average of 24% it's really starting to annoy me as its brought down my screen time a bit here's some pics of my states an what's android system running, I have several things frozen as well that are listed why there listed idk but several are frozen! If you know of any fixes to solve android system from being such a high usage please let me know! Thanks!

Stock battery app doesn't provide enough information to solve the problem. Apps such as Wakelock Detector are needed to drill down to meaningful information. There are also lots of existing threads that provide great instructions on how to improve battery life.

Somewhere within this list one of them was causing android system to be high which one for I'm not sure of but try the list give it a good 2 days or so from 100% to 0% battery and if it worked then I'm glad if not unfortunately you should try some other things, also try wake lock detector(root required) as the other poster stated as well as better battery stats (cost money and requires root)

I think I have it pinned down.
I am fairly certain it's caused by ims settings, ims logger, or ims service. I noticed none of these were disabled in your list, so I'm curious If u had improvement.

It does affect texting a little, no fc, but messaging app takes a long time to open and sometimes texts come in twice. Weird. But my battery life has been excellent. Thanks for the help, homie.
