I recently upgraded by Touchpad with the latest jcsullins build cm-11-20140625-SNAPSHOT-jcsullins-tenderloin.zip. But for this it seems the Camera is not working. There is any way to fix this or can i have the most stable build for the Touchpad.
Other than Camera i can see it working pretty smoothly.
Since this is a rather new build, maybe you should just follow the forum on it to see what others are experiencing and see if they have the
same issue or a fix. I understand this is KitKat 4.4.4...what gapps did you use?

I used the gapps version gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip. Can i know whether in the earlier Kitkat build the Camera stuff is working?
I'm using the same ROM and the pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.2 Paranoid Android Gapps gapps as linked to in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712680 Just tried a quick picture and it was fine. In case it makes a difference I dirty flashed this ROM over his previous Kitkat ROM, wiping cahces afterwards.
Hi guys,
I successfully built CM12 off the official cyanogenmod source. All of dhackers builds in the past have thrown status 1 errors on our phone, so this is the closest thing to official cyanogenmod lollipop we have at the moment.
All credit goes to dhacker29 and the rest of the razrqcom / cyanogen dev team. All I did was set up a build environment and built straight from the source. I used no hacks, tweaks or mods to get this to build.
I'll try to build new builds occasionally, but I'm pretty busy so can't commit to making regular nightlies or anything.
Code:
[B]Instructions:[/B]
Download the latest zip (cm-12-*-UNOFFICIAL-mb886.zip) to your phone.
Boot to recovery.
Remember to make a Nandroid backup!
Format /system. (Some recoveries have this as "Wipe Data/Factory Reset > Clean to Install a New ROM") (You can try doing a "dirty flash" without formatting system but I don't recommend it)
Install the ROM (install zip from...).
Install gapps (install zip from...).
Wipe data/cache
Reboot.
First boot can take some time due to ART in lollipop.

Please don't use SuperSU, it does not help the CM12 debugging at all (and it's been already reported as a cause of battery drain). The CM built-in su can be easily enabled under Developer options>Root access, it works just fine.

thanks for the rom.. will try it out and post feedback
Any known bugs?
Dirty updated from Miiju CM12 and seems to work fine. The ROM is smooth and solid. Reboot time is noticable longer than on Mijuu's build, maybe connected with the new bootscreen. Haven't noticed any bugs yet. Thanks for the great job.
PS. The new CM bootscreen is ugly  - imho of course. However, previous wasn't the masterpiece too .
Does this have the new theme engine? Good job bro you should maintain cm12 and let dhacker know.
Really laggy and random reboots
I made a clean flash of this build. It was smooth for first 30 to 40 seconds after that **** laggy and rebooted twice in 20 minutes.. i also experiences screen tearing. bugs are same as that of other builds though.
Great! I will try it tonight and report back. Thanks!

Theme engine implemented and works!
As far as being device maintainer, I'm definitely open to it but I'm not sure if I'm qualified enough to do it. If there were functional problems and things that break I don't really think I have the knowledge to fix those... All I really did here was follow some build guides and build this. But if you think that's all I need, I'll definitely consider it.

Aingaran I've also experienced some occasional reboots and force closes of google play services. Not so much the lag though. However, the rom seem significantly smoother if you use Launcher3 instead of Google Now launcher from my limited experience so far.

Nice job with the build, Im going to flash this thing tonight and report whats happening with this rom
Thank you for doing this for us.
Edit: Clean flashed rom without gapps: smooth as it should be, seems noticeably faster than LS
Now with Banks gapps: Still as fast with no random reboots yet. Looking great so far. I wonder if the bugs are gapps related for some of you people then.
Antutu benchmark for mb886: 19544, thats as fast as mijuus cm12, great job man.
Bugs: Chromecast cannot mirror, its the same OMX-720p error from log cat, its now a bug with dhackers builds. Mijuus doesnt have that at all, probably a hack . Im maybe wrong it could go away on its own. But its something to do with that which is causing the AvSource to fail with this error: w/err = -38
Overall this rom is as stable as it can be, there isn't any other bug I could find but that one, I did try mirror enabler for the previous one, it didn't affect anything. Speedy fast and simplistic, great job on this first build. Keeping that one as a daily driver until then.
Good job!
Thank you! :good:

Great feedback, thank you. I experienced the same thing- super stable without gapps. Might try flashing again with banks gapps.
If anyone wants to try out the CM recovery I built based on the latest source, here it is. I haven't tried it out yet since I'm happy with the philz touch build I have, but if you do flash it let me know how it works.

Try it with Banks, it makes your rom the way it is. I haven't even ran into a crash, I pushed this device pretty hard and its still not rebooting, came close though.
As for the future builds of this rom, maybe the problem will go away as time goes on, idk but I think I found a way around it.
Wow a cm recovery, but im happy for my philz but sooner or later this recovery will be needed to flash newer roms. Blisspop from droidrazr requires this recovery for some odd reason.
Plus its late for me anyway.
Great job on this rom and the recovery Thank you.:good:
Awesome, Thanks!
@helloha1 - Thanks for the build , It's really smooth :good: keep up the good work , Thanks to dev that helped to make this build i was tired of getting bootloops (blisspop & vanir) and otherdevs (laggy) builds ...

As far as battery life, not sure. I used the phone all day today from about 10 to 9 and was at around 40% at the end of the day. Granted, I have an upgraded EB40 battery.

Last I remembered, I flash Crystal ROM..... Month ago, so I was mistaking The ROM works but some settings dont.
Patch file 404, fail.
It wouldn't load for me either, it says
"Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist.
Please check the address and try again. ".
How bad is the camera on CM? From what I understand the camera for the L90 isn't working properly under CM11, taking poor quality photos. Are there any other issues? I love CM but a stripped factory ROM is working great right now on my D415.

I have a D415 running the latest nightly build of official CM11, with BigMajster's patch. Here are the major issues I've encountered so far:
Video playback doesn't work for Netflix or NBC, but it works for browser (HTML5), YouTube, and FIOS Mobile.
Camera doesn't autofocus
Bluetooth streaming cuts out frequently
Random reboots (every 2 days or so)
It's worth noting that the battery life is fantastic compared to my Optimus G and iPhone 4S (never used the L90 on stock firmware, so I can't compare builds). My phone rarely goes under 30% before 9PM, and I regularly get 12 hours of battery with 4.5 hours of screen on time (web browsing and streaming video). I barely use my car charger anymore.
Just tried it with last nights NIGHTLY.
still no video recording.
Gps is about 2300 miles off. LOL
Runs smooth. Less glitchy. Feels good. Didn't stick with it long though....
...went back to CM12 for my daily driver..
Running this mornings w7 NIGHTLY (http://get.cm/get/nxh) on my D415.
My God, someone has been putting work in!
The device is smoother, boots much quicker, screen is far more responsive now too!
The three reboots I have done also recognized the SIM faster too. It usually takes about a minute to recognize the network. This time, four seconds! Nice!
It's much less glitchy, again. Lets see of it still über deep sleeps?
Don't know if any of that is from this mornings update, but this device is running much better than it was last night.
When I woke up this morning:
Dirty flashed over existing CM11 system. (With one eye open, still in bed)
Bootloops, my favorite breakfast!
Flashed @BigMajster kernel (patch).
Perfekt again!
Only been running for about 1.5hrs but, it's noticeably better.. I recommend it.

Yes. For CM11 you need to install the LG IR app and SDK apps that go with it.
There's a thread about it with downloads. I'd blame @shinobisoft for that fix, if I'm not mistaken...

I would be happy if the dev focuses more in stability in this version rather than working on more recent updates. Believe me or not, this device isn't really capable in working smoothly above KitKat anymore actually. It's just too old and weak to run smoothly on newer firmwares. You can see why I stopped my RR development, I totally lost my passion in doing it anymore. What's the point of doing it when it cant even run smoothly on it with lags time by time. If I have time, I might learn building a kernel for this build. All I want is performance and stability rather than having more recent updates but with crappy memory management and laggy UI.
Once again, thanks to the dev for this build.

I tried, on the first 3 days, it works extremely fine. Slowly, the lag increases, yesterday it was lagging so much that I have no choice but to switch to this rom. It's not even my primary device and I got only messenger and gapps installed. Let's see how it goes. =)
Ok, i try this rom , wait kernel from you.
I don't intend on releasing any ROMs or kernels of my own. I only built this ROM so I could keep on using CM 10.2 but have the stagefright vulnerability fixed. You can get decent kernels from other topics in this forum. I may accept patches to fix other bugs or security issues but I'm not intending this to be a long-term project.

I have the same problem, on both my I9100 and my I9100G. Whenever free memory drops below 100 MB, the system becomes so sluggish that it is painful to use. Freeing memory helps but fills up too fast again. I think android needs 2 GB of RAM to run properly, which our devices don't have.

Dude You just said the truth! ^_^
Is this odex or deodex rom?
Hey there,
I've been updating my TP regularly for the last 4 years or so, and it always have been kinda slow and laggy sometimes but as far as I can remember I was at least able to browse and play some games a couple years ago. I don't really know when I started to realize that my TP is virtually impossible to use due to SO many lags and not responding apps.
Not talking about dirty flash or GApps problems though, I always clean flash new roms and kernels and for the first 5 minutes or so the TP is reacting kinda fast. But after a while it takes literally ages to open up an app, to the point where I have to restart the device.
For example using the "update all" button in Google Play will never update all the apps because for some reason the download speed will be super slow after a while and installing a single app will take up to 10 minutes.
That's the reason why my TP has just been catching dust for the last year but I had to give it another try and flash 7.1, but it's still the same story. Since the community around the TP is still kinda active, I feel like maybe this really just applies to my TP because there is no reason why anyone would still want to use this thing if it behaved like mine.
I've already given up on it and feeding it to the bin wouldn't hurt me at all, but before I do so: any ideas?
Regards
Check out my experiences with Evervolv 7.1.1: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71176374&postcount=937
I was using an older build of 6.0, and it was just about unusable as you describe. It would take FOREVER to do the simplest things, even with nothing open. "Lag" was measured in seconds, and apps opening would be measured in minutes. I did these few things, and it's a whole new tablet!
1. Fresh install. Wipe EVERYTHING and start over with the newest 7.1.1 ROM.
2. Format Cache and Data to F2FS.
3. Use overclocked (1.8GHz) SKZ kernel.
4. Change Governor to LionHeart and I/O scheduler to Tripndroid.
5. Do NOT use Chrome from the GPlay store. Chrome will use up ALL of your (1GB) RAM, and make it unusable. I switched to ABP webrowser.
6. Download Greenify from GPlay store. Use it to hibernate EVERYTHING that's not essential. Again, saves your RAM for what's important.
Latest nightly (20170404) is really smooth

I'm kind of in the same boat as OP but I don't have a ton of experience. If you don't mind. How did you accomplish 2-4?
=UPDATE=
I found these settings but my boil. Doesn't have the mentioned options so I overclocked to 1.7 and switched to the performance controller and that seems to help quite a bit!

Performance will be the fastest you can, but don't be surprised if your battery life takes a pretty big hit.

Exactly. I used the SKZ kernel, and F2FS is set up in TWRP.
I had been running the Rock Solid MLQ 4.4.4. CM11 but I need a newer system to run Kodi 17.1
I have been playing with Evervolv 7.1.2 Nightly and SKZ Kernel but find it painfully slow and not great for daily driver. Touchpad is a 32GB wifi. Another great problem I have is the double/tripple and more keystrokes. I have yet yo narrow the problem down.
Was contemplating a Lollipop or Mashmallow Rom but not sure which one.
Please any advise or recommendations greatly appreciated.

I had this ROM installed for a year or so, and it was solid!! Its JC Sullins 12.1 Lollipop.
Sullins 12.1 SOLID ROM
Thanks Doublestuff. I think I will keep playing with Evervolv Nougat a bit more to see if I can iron out some of the issues I am having.

Hey I haven't tested this but widevine has a fix for streaming services here Perhaps you could try his 4.4.4 flashable zip with MLQ's CM11 and see if that works with Kodi 17.1. I still find MLQ's CM11 to be the fastest most stable ROM for daily use vs my tablet with android 7.x.x.
You can also try the Lineage 14.1 build here but it also has several issues to overcome when setting it up. You'll also probably need to flash a streaming fix for 7.1.1 here If you test it please report back:highfive:

Did you find quite a performance increase going to the F2FS partition format? I am curious if it may give me a bit faster response.
I am still reading and trying to tweak the SKZ Kernel and Toolbox settings in Evervolv Nightly Nougat

Thanks for the reply Roland. The problem is that Kodi 17.1 will not install on Kitkat....needs Lollipop or newer. And yes, your MLQ CM11 is a rock solid rom and I used it since it came out.
I will read up on this widevine and perhaps try it.
Now I am curious if switching to F2FS partitions will help at all with speed and usability.

I have noticed improved performance on other devices when switching to F2FS. On this device it is a little bit better, but the main cause of slowdown on a TP is not the file system, but the underwhelming dual-core CPU and the 1GB of RAM. Both of those are more likely to slow down and/or freeze this tablet than anything else.
That said, any little bit helps, so I still went with the F2FS.

Does it happen with all ROMS? I get hat a lot in Nougat 7.1.2.
How fast is it?

Would you mind posting some benchmark results for F2FS, inquiring minds and all that thanks

I'm also curious about F2FS :fingers-crossed: Even the android apks here for Kodi don't work? I see its missing from the playstore for CM11.

Well ever since I redid with a Clean install of the 02-15-17 rom and formatted to F2FS then upgraded to latest nightly build -05-19-17 I believe it is, my TP is running somewhat better and faster. At least it is useable now.
I did not flash SKZ Kernel, I am just using the settings in Evervolv rom toolbox for performance.
And I am not getting many double/tripple keystrokes at all.
One thing I have noticed, and I am not sure if this is a rom thing or ??. I can not install .apk files from my Cloud storage using Astro File Manager. I get an error like 'No program associated' or something like that. Sorry, I am not near my TP right now to duplicate the error.

I did a clean install and formatted F2FS and my TP seems a wee bit more useable with 7.1.2 Evervolv nightly. I am not using SKZ Kernel, just the recommended performance settings using Rom Toolbox.
I did see a youtube video re: installing Kodi Krypton V17.1 on 4.4.4 but I haven't checked it out as yet.
Hi guys, I seem to be having this issue too regardless of which version of android I use (and webOS too).
I've done fresh installs of ICS and 7.1.2 as well as webOS and all 3 are really chugging and I'm not sure why. I am seeing in android's "memory" area of settings that It is reading my touchpad as having 848 megs of ram instead of 1gb. Could that be the issue and if so, how did that happen?
Any ideas?

System reserves some ram

Not to worry that's perfectly normal for the HP Touchpad. The system reserves some memory that you can't access.
Nougat can be laggy if you don't use the SKZ-OC kernel and the recommended settings here
Generally Kittkat is considered the best all around rom, try the setup below. No matter what rom you choose I recommend you OC the cpu to 1782mhz with the Kernel adiutor app. The HP TP is getting a little long in the tooth and needs all the extra performance it can get.
Download Android 4.4.4 Kitkat install files(Rom, Recovery, Gapps):
Rom:lineage-11-20170704-NIGHTLY-tenderloin
Recovery:TWRP-jcs-dm-tenderloin-20140612b.zip
Gapps:gapps-444-base-20160602-1-signed.zip

Thanks for your help, that made a HUGE difference. I then re-formatted the data & cache partitions from that link to F2FS and it is like a brand new device. My one problem is when I start it up I get this error saying:
"corrupted virtual USB device" - I am assuming that is because of f2fs right? Is there a way to fix this and stay on f2fs?

Glad to help:highfive: I assume that's caused by the f2fs setup but I'm not using it and don't have a solution . Might want to checkout the Evervolv thread at Devs-base and see what people are saying about it and f2fs. Have fun with your revitalized HP Touchpad
F2FS?
Pardon me, but how did you convert to F2FS? Which link were you referring to?
Using the recovery mentioned above, I had no option to wipe/reformat data/cache to F2FS. Do I need to update to a different of recovery?
thanks,
