Hello
My wife bought z3 compact about a month ago and she has few issues with it.
First one:
couple of days ago clock just readjusted itself.
Today: phone just switched off by itself and she had to power it up.
Any one had some experience with problems like that? What could it be and what could be the solution.
This with rebooting doesn't look nice since google found quite a lot of articles regarding sudden death of xperia z3.
Phone was bought from operator (vipnet croatia) and it is system wise how operator supplied it.
Installed apps are few games (8-ball, candy crush, pou), viber, skype, facebook... Flashlight, one additional calendar, instagram, picsart, tune in radio, color note and that is about it, and antutu benchmark (mostly used for clearing ram)
Next issue is with ram, phone is crying that >80% of RAM is used why since it has 2GB of ram
Thanks in advance

Hi all.
Have been a happy owner of a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 for almost a year now.
The I9000 has worked great until some weeks ago.
Suddenly I noticed that every movie I watch stops with a black screen after
30-60sec, then reapear after 5sec and so it goes on through out the entire video, just like when buffering a streaming video.
This happens with movies that are saved on the device (not streaming)
I´m also using my device for car navigation with Navigon, Aura etc. is dead slow.
These navigation apps worked perfect before with smooth uppdate of the maps while driving.
Now the maps freezes for 10-20sec then updates, then freezes again.
This makes all navigation useless.
I have tried to stop all running apps, restarted the device.
Have also uninstalled all newly added apps.
I´m on 2.3.3 Gingerbread.XWJVH (uppdated some month ago and everything has been working fine until now)
I have 135mb used RAM and 1,5Gb free mem on the unit.
Also have 3,5Gb free on the mem card.
Everything else works great on the device, no lag when scrolling menu´s etc.
Except for the battery, a fully charged battery last for about 6 hours.
But I´m using it ALOT for both mail/sms/navigation etc.
Batteri usage:
Display 51%
Android OS 17%
Seems to be right?
The only thing that I have change over the last weeks is that I have redirected
my work mail to my gmail, but this should not be to hard on the phone.
I´t like everything is on half speed..
I have read about rooting the device and use lag fix but I don´t realy want to do this.
Any ideas?
(Excuse my bad English)
A general solution could be to do a factory reset (WARNING: that will delete your data etc! so don't do it unless everything is backed up!) and see if that fixes it.
However, as a specific solution - i shrug my shoulders.
Do you know if your handset has branded firmware?
Hello people i just received the OTA notification, but i'm worried to update, to be honest my phone worked pretty well till today and i'm very satisfied with it, but it's kinda annoying the notification popup , i tried to stop the service as well but it keeps popping out.
Anyways i bought this phone cause it's such a great phone for the price, and cause i knew it was going to get Lollipop update, and now that there is the update i'm kinda conflicted about so many differents comments around the forums, i checked here, some other forums, and on reddit but i couldn't find a proper review of the Pro/Cons to updating the phone to Lollipop 5.0.2 (most of the review i found were of the previous version of L, and i read that 5.0.2 got some major fixes ); so there's anyone that can kindly explain me if it regrets updating the phone, or what are the issues? battery life improvement? i know that it gets a better multitasking, but some people complain that is "sluggish"? also there's anyway to change or remove the white background from the app drawer?
thanks in advance for the help.
I updated my phone more than a month ago. At first the phone seemed sluggish ,as you said, and even after a full wipe things didn't get better. The thing is that after a few days the phone's performance was just as smooth as kitkat for me ( I guess the rom settled ) . Battery life is the same , although lollipop may seem to need more resources at times , and I also installed nova launcher with moonshine icon theme to get rid of the white app drawer background. In a nutshell , the only difference for me is the visuals / new features like ambient display which I happily use. I don't play games on my phone but I listen to music , watch videos on youtube and stay online for a few hours per day switching between apps. The only problem for me is the blurry camera ( which is also an issue on kitkat ) and the lack of actual silent mode.
ps. I would strongly recommend a full wipe before and after installing and disabling apps you dont need from settings in order to save battery and resources. Don't forget to back up everything before wiping / updating
It is worth it. The features and the UI are definitely great, but don't expect any real RAM improvements. Performance-wise, the phone still multitasks like my old Galaxy Y (which had 256mb of RAM), and I only keep WhatsApp on the background.
But hey, it's not any worse than KitKat and it's pretty, so I recommend it.
Agreed.
Material design looks good, performance is the same and so it's battery life (at least in my experience). I am happy with it.
I got the update 4 days ago and haven't had any problems. Is it faster? Hard to tell but it certainly isn't any slower.
Ram management for me is much better, no problems with multitasking, navigating listening to music, surfing the net, still shows 464Mbyte ram free and no restarts. No lag at all on any apps (59) all of which work fine.
Battery performance is in line with what I had on KitKat, which was pretty good, (Don't forget where you put your recharge cable). I have to admit that I am not a power user, (I can get up to 3 days out of one charge) but I use it a lot to record tracks with OruxMaps when I am walking, GPS on and screen off.
I don't use mobile data so have it turned off on all apps that use it, I have a separate mobile router (Much lower cost).
Finally from my experience I would say that updating was worth it, just to get rid of the terrible multitasking that came with KitKat 4.4.4.

I recently upgraded to an S6 Edge from an HTC One M8. This phone is probably one of the best phones I've ever used. However I have noticed that sometimes the phone just "lags". For example pulling up the recents menu can take a couple extra seconds. When scrolling homescreens/settings app, it is not as smooth as I thought it should be. Chrome scrolling is pretty horrible sometimes. I've only had the phone for 7 days. I did disable most of the Samsung/Verizon/Microsoft apps. I also did clear cache from the recovery. The only remedy is to just reboot my phone which helps for about a day. Does anyone else have this issue as well?

I am also facing same issues and even sometime it feels most of the games also lags on s6 edge
Yes, my phone has serious lag. It is basic stuff, like hitting the home button it will take 2 seconds for the app icons to slowly repopulate. The calendar widget is rough, often takes 1-3 seconds for the widget to appear. I have disabled the majority of verizon apps and cleared out cache; I just did a factory reset and will try and load back in some apps but so far this phone has horrible lag. I installed the exact same apps and same set up as my Moto X 2013 and I am thinking about switching back to the old phone until some software updates come out.
i have heard about this on the smaller 32GB and there have been people that had 32 and replaced it with 64GB version that swear there is a difference in performance but i have the 64 and dont have any lag complaints.
what do you all have?

I have the 64GB version. I cracked my screen and sent it back to Samsung to repair. I am hoping they find some other problems with the phone. I have reverted back to my Moto X 2013 and it is amazing how much more fluid the UI works. The apps do not quite operate as fast (i.e . browsing, Instagram pictures, etc.) but there is 0 lag in the UI. Unless the Edge comes back running smooth I am going to sell it, the UI lag is way more frustrating than apps and browsing working slightly slower.
I received my phone back form Samsung after the cracked screen repair (cost ~$240.00). Via trial and error I am pretty confident my Calendar widget that is linked to an Exchange Account was causing my serious UI lag issues. I installed all my applications but this time used a stock wallpaper, installed Calendar Widget (started to get some lag so then removed) and did not install the photo frame widget. Now I have no UI Lag. I am pretty sure it was an issue with the calendar widget, but I am just going to stick with the stock wallpaper and no photo frame either as the UI Lag seems to have disappeared with this new setup.
When you are starting to experience lag, check how much free memory you have. When I start seeing lag, my memory is down to about 5-8%. I think this is the memory issue that is discussed in other posts. I also have a 64G device
I had spotty lag on stock ROM, but everything has been blazing on either of the custom ROMs currently available if you're up for rooting to test it out.
Hello there,
I recently got a Note 5 and I am coming from a iphone 5s. This is my first android device ever and I am trying to get used to it. Thus, I noticed a few things that bothered me a little bit. When I scroll down faster than usual in apps like facebook, shaman, play store, whatsapp emoji menu etc. I get a laggy/jittery behaviour. Some people mentioned browsing as well but I think samsung browser seems decent, I feel no lag after it completely loads the page. I dont wanna believe that this device cant handle even Facebook app, maybe its a network related problem (I am sitting on a 10-25mb internet depending on where I am). I feel an extremely small stutter when I switch between menus for the first time in simple apps like dialer. I just pop it, for example when I first go to contacts and favourites, it kinda stutters for an extremely short time. I am aware such concerns might sound stupid but I am really not sure how it is supposed to be. Next, I am getting about 5-6 hours of SOT battery life. Location is on (wifi and cellular), android device manager is off, NFC off, wifi is always on where I dont have to use mobile data. I noticed that android system is draining the highest amount just after Screen. Usage was mostly Whatsapp, some facebook, phone settings (since I am trying to figure out stuff), a little bit of gaming and twitch. Brightness is auto and at about %30. I also got a geekbench score of Single Core: 1450ish and Multi Core: 4500ish.
Finally, I wonder if these concerns are expected and possible to solve. I did some reading but unfortunately never had chance to come across to a clarifying explanations to all these things. I thank you in advance for your time taken and effort reading this.

Being an ios and android user, what i can say is android can never(as of now) be as smooth as IOS. This is the truth as android is made to support all the variety of devices, however android users get more customisability more useful free apps and more control over the device they own. 5-6 hours of SOT is considered not bad, it really depends on personal usage i think it is acceptable, i guess the ability to see what your phone is using may be a good or bad thing. For what you know maybe on IOS the system actually drains as much or even more than android just that we are unable to view. hahaha :highfive: cheers not looking for flammers just my two cents.
Thanks for the input =) Hopefully this will be solved with a software update later. Still some confirmation/consultancy will be much appreciated, cheers

The phone behaves normally in all other usage?
Only chrome causes issues?
Try this, use your phone as per usual, but make a note of all the websites you have open in chrome next time it crashes or causes issues.
Then install Firefox and replicate the usage, same websites etc and see if you have the same issues.
If there's no issues with Firefox, then download something like antutu benchmarking app and run it. If the phone doesn't have any issues completing the benchmark then we can be confident the issue is restricted to the chrome app and not hardware related and doesn't immediately warrant sending the phone away (obviously there is more technical ways to monitor and test for hardware issues but i thought I would keep it simple)
Of course if it is easier for you to take it to a service centre that works too. Personally there are no Nokia service centers near me so I am limited to self diagnosis typically
Already done that on my own and no crash with Samsung browser in 5 days. Run many times antutu and other benchmark to stress the phone and didn't crash a single time.
