[Q] HTC Notes after lollipop update - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I did a research on internet and this forum but could not find any thread about this.
after the Lollipop update on my HTC One M7 HTC Notes was removed and when I try to open it I am adviced to download Evernote.
I installed, created a username but I am not able to get my old notes.
Is there any way to get them back? I need them

No one to help?

HTC removed notes from lollipop and placed with evernote
If you sync your notes to evernote than you can get them back else no

If you did not create an Evernote account BEFORE the Lollipop update, most likely your notes were not backed up by Evernote. So there is no way to recover them.

Outrageous
WTF? I just updated as well and found I was unable to view my notes using the HTC Notes app. I followed the instructions to create an Evernote account and downloaded the app. I only got 7 of my notes back.
Someone from HTC should explain how to recover the notes. What are they thinking when they delete people's work during an update and force them into using an app they don't want or need!?
This is disgusting behaviour.
HTC - explanation please?

That's really weird guys since on my phone everything synced properly and I got all my notes back on evernote after installing and making an account.

If you want explanations from HTC then ask them directly. Do you really think they will answer any of your question here?

Htc notes cannot be uninstalled
I got evernotes and all htc notes have got migrated to evernotes. now Notes application is still present in my phone and i am unable to remove it from there. not option available to uninstall. When i click to open, it go to playstore and opens all notes in evernote itself. Could some one tell me if you have faced this issue and resolved it.
I am using HTC one and Android 5.0.2 .

Didn't notice that before you mentioned it. Weird, but seems that's the order of things for now. Just use Evernote.

htc notes is a system app so you can only remove it if you have an unsecured kernel or using a custom recovery. Removing system app will result with not being able to install future ota updates which should not be an issue since the M7 shouldn't receive new ota updates... So I would simply use twrp's embedded file manger to remove htc notes app from /system.

Backup for Root Users

Does anybody know where I can get this? I just got a new Magic because my old one bricked, and I had it on my old one & made a backup on my SD card, but now I can't find it to restore my backup.
I was sure I got it with the fatality hero rom before, but I just installed that on my new Magic & it's not there, and I can't find it in the marketplace either. Does anybody have an .apk of it or mind pointing me in the right direction?
Thanks.
It's in the market, just redownloaded it 2 days ago. Just do a search "backup"

Just looked again, it's not there for me.
I just took another look as well, can't find it any where either. Maybe the Dev is updating or pulled it. You could email him direct. http://blackgins.wordpress.com/

MOD EDIT
Thread moved to Sapphire applications and games forum
Well, you are not only one... i can't download it either...
even http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.bg.smsbk is empty page...
I couldn't find it at the market this morning neither, good thing i have use "Backup for Root Users" to backup the 'apk' which include the app.
I uploaded the version i have here:
Link remove by moderator. If anyone wants it then download it through official channels such as Market or developer.
Removed from the market
The dev might have pulled the app from the market due to bugs, see his blog post http://blackgins.wordpress.com/2009/08/29/news-on-backup-for-root-users/. That post talks about version 3.3, but the last version I've seen in the market (2010-April-02, no updates since) was 4.1.4. I've uploaded it here:
Download Backup for root users 4.1.4 APK
Link remove by moderator. If anyone wants it then download it through official channels such as Market or developer.
NOTE: I've just tested this version on a rooted Nexus One with CyanogenMod 6 RC1, and it couldn't restore the SMSes and MMSes. No wonder the author removed the app from the market. There is still an old version that might work, Backup for root (old).

Asking for HTC Plurk and HTC Twitter apk and odex

Hi all,
It's a wrong decision to kill the built-in HTC Plurk and Twitter apps and widgets. At first, I don't think they are useful, so removing it.
Recently, I got an OTA update in my country. In this OTA udpate, it checks the existences of HTC Plurk and Twitter, both apps and widgets. But they were killed few days ago.
Does any body be kindness to copy your HTC Plurk and Twitter apps and widgets for me??It should have 8 files for all, 4 apk, and 4 odex.
The following is my Tattoo software version:
Software Version: 1.67.921.22
I'm not sure if we do have Plurk on our Tattoo's. On mine, it's running a WWE RUU and I haven't recieved any updates saying "OMG! There's an update, INSTALL IT NOW".
I do have HTC Peep, but I'm not sure if I could give it to you... It may fall under warez, and that's forbidden on XDA. Sorry.
Ok, I see. I already found the HTC Peep. But no Plurk found. I think that may be only available in Taiwan.
Cool. If you need anything else, let us know!

Oh, thank you apa1102. I already downloaded them.
The strange thing happened that once I copied them into /system/app, my tattoo just black out. After reboot, it still be black all the time, but I can enter the adb shell. After removing them, the tattoo comes back. What's going on??
apa1102, thank you.
I can install the OTA updates now. I found that the linkage between htc sense and plurk and twitter is missing. But I can just put the odex files into the /system/app to make the OTA update pass, even the apks doesn't be installed into /system/app.

APK request

Hi,
I had a live wallpaper on my old phone (htc desire) called "Flame-Haired Shana LiveWall" available on android market (from spatulacorp). seems it's been removed from the market. but i can still view the market page, it just says my new devices are incompatible.
I was wondering if anyone who has it could upload the APK so I could try installing it directly? or would that not work?
Current phone: HTC Sensation XE

HTC One 802W (Unicom version with 2 sim)

Is there a chance that the custom roms can be used in these china versions? I am tired of the blinkfeed screen and would like a custom rom installed to get rid of this. Not sure if these roms can be used without destroying 2 sim card support.
thanks.
just install a different launcher if you dont want blinkfeed
I'm not sure whether ROMs will work on your variant (but I'd guess that they would) but as long as you're rooted with a custom recovery installed then you could always try it and see if you can install them or not. Of course, just make sure that you make a backup beforehand so if anything goes wrong, you can make sure that you can recover your phone to a working state.
You don't actually need to install a custom ROM to get rid of blinkfeed though. If you take a look at Q12 on the HTC One FAQ, you'll see that there are 2 ways you can "get rid" of blinkfeed without needing to install a ROM.
*NOTE* As this is a question, you shouldn't have posted your thread in the development section. I've just asked a moderator to move your thread to the Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum. Please remember to use that section if you have any further questions.

So far all 3 recovers in one forum can not be flahsed into One 802w. So there is no way to root it at this moment.
Not sure any recovery can be made for 802w or not.

If you can read Mandarin I would recommend trying out this site. It's probably the best and most reliable of the Chinese sites for custom Rom and rooting solutions for PRC specific devices: http://bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=1257
Just want to Root and install Google Apps
Hi Guys Im not looking for a custom rom, but would like to be able to root my 802W so that I can install google apps.
Is there any known way to do this yet?
If there is a website in Chinese with instructions on how to do this, then please send me the URL, and hopefully my wife can translate as I try and step my way through.

The poster above you posted a link to the Chinese HTC One forums. From what I can gather they have already rooted it and have Roms available. Maybe your wife can help you out with understanding it. I can't repost the link because my post count is too low but it is the bbs gfan URL above.

I have downloaded the files..
but the clockworkmod recovery files are not .zip files so cannot be flashed... they are .exe files.. but when i try and run them on my computer..i just get the gibberish as shown in the screen shot?....

The HTC store is absolutely useless. There are so many things that are not available on it. But if you bought this phone in China, then you have no choice as the Play Store and any Google services are banned. I had to install a custom tweaked ROM that had google services on it to enable everything again.
Hi there,
I just purchase HTC ONE M7 802W (china unicom version with 2 simcard)
But Since I Need google framework (google appslaystore, map, gmail, google contact etc etc etc more importantly, I live in Indonesia)
Then I guess I need to install the google apps into my HTC one.
The question is:
Is it possible to install the google apps without flashing
Rooted 802w from Shenzhen?
May you let me know if I could buy one from your friend in Shenzhen rooted?
I am very interested.
