Wahoo...downloading as I type this. Finally, a change
Hope it's for the better ...

I don't see any visible difference, if anything it seems the battery life is VERY little bit worse (used to drain 4-5% overnight, this morning I got 7% drop). Could be a million factors, but the watch was NOT used all these 12hrs.
Was hoping for a bit of better interop with S Health and Gear Manager, I guess we shall see.

Yes, I have noticed an increase in battery drainage. And for no apparent reason. But have noticed my battery drain sucked since my S5 was updated to Lollipop (Sprint, LP 5.0 <- sucks)

I'm still on KK 4.4.2 (not by choice) but yeah, seeing the whole Lollipop debacle (for some users) I'm not in a rush to upgrade. Mind you, I have a Nexus 4 as a backup, and LP has give it a new lease on life.
Just wanted to add here that in fact I believe the battery life on my Neo has IMPROVED if I stick with a widget watch face - when I saw higher drain I was using Watch Styler. With "Desk clock" face now I get <0.5% /hr overnight. I guess Styler comes with a price...
Hope this helps.

I don't have this firmware yet on my Gear 2 Neo. If I try to manually update it the Samsung Gear tells me I have latest firmware.
I am on the R381XXU0BNL2 firmware still.

Have you tried through Kies?

[Q] Should I update to 10.1.A.1.434?

I got my xperia z yesterday and rooted it right away. Now I love everything about the phone but the battery life is horrible(5 charges from 5% to 100%) in 48 hours. I'm constantly getting a notification to update to 10.1.a.1.434. There is very little information about it. I wanna know if it changes battery life at all cause I read how people are complaining that the battery drains really fast after this update which would be ridiculous. And I wanna know are there any other good/bad changes, maybe update notes and most importantly, will I loose root?

I'm not sure. I'm not rooted and had not rooted my XZ yet. But you can always root it again if you do lose root.
you have re-root after updated.
I just updated and I kept root, will let you know if anything else changes

I believe if you update OTA you keep root, but if you do over PC companion you lose it? Either way you can always re root after if you lose it :good:

As previously discussed on many occassions you battery life will improve over time, say after about a week or two, after more and more charge cycles.
Yes you will obviously loose root, but just re-root.
does it rectify the previous problem of stamina mode not working properly?? and does this update bring (unwanted) new glitches/bugs?? also any other problem it may cause? i'm confused regarding this update. i'm currently on .350? should i update?

S5 battery life sucks. gpsd task

Hi there,
I wanted to check if there is any solution to the ****ty battery life the S5 have. I don't know why Samsung talks **** about iPhone if they can't have a good battery life without the U saving mode.
I've tried everything even turned GPS off. Disabled Samsung remote location. Please help.
I used to achieve 14 hours on my nexus 5... Yes the N5, come on!
That's rough my battery usually lasts me 14 hours ish

How many % the gpsd task shows in yours? Also is it the G900H?
Mine one lasts for 1 complete day with 4g on most of the time.. Screen time is around 4 to 5 hours
If you're coming here to find a solution then use a program to diagnose the issue like wakelock detector or better battery stats. This post lacks information and does not allow us to help you.
you can try to download wake lock detector or better battery stats from the play store to monitor your battery usage

Your problem might be due to any of these 2 reasons
1 app that uses the network is misbehaving
If this is the case than Uninstalling the misbehaving app.
2 the radio control interface
Sometimes the signal from Tower is not that good in your area so setting the network settings to AUTO mode, the phone keeps switching between GSM, WCDMA AND LTE. try setting your phone to GSM ONLY or WCDMA ONLY. it will most probably solve the issue.
Hahaha. I can't believe to see this post. That's the problem dude. I've 5-6 sot on TW with usage all day long, data all the time. And I got 5 sot on cm. Believe me as heavy user here ?

Stock samsung, no root. I flashed the factory image to see if that helped. But no. I cannot use battery tracker apps cause no root :/
I think I will go for a LG G3, not even the SGS4 running stock samsung firmware drained the battery this much.

Model: SM-G900H (Sucks not to have the snapdragon)
ROM: KOT49H.G900HXXU1ANG3
Any Recent Changes: No, using the same apps since Nexus 5. I had Nexus 5 then a Note 3 then an S3 mini then a Note then a Nexus 4 then an S4, running the same apps no issue with this.
How often do you use device: I am at work, so I use mostly for whatsapp, and at lunch to check the social networks.
I have great signal from the network, and I always use my phones with everything on except the bluetooth, I have never had this issue. I left the phone one day on stand by, and it only held the battery for 11hours, with 20minutes of on screen use. And the GPSD task was the only one that was using the battery.
What I've done so far:
I turned samsung remote location off
Factory reset
Removed google location services
Disabled all the apps that uses location like twitter or facebook
Turned the GPS off
Root the device and deleted all samsung apps (the ones that can be unisntalled)
Use the GPS on Low battery usage
Disabled the pedometer
Nothing seems to work.
I am not a really Samsung fan, but I was giving a try to the S5 because the water resistant thing, but if my S3 mini can hold up more battery than this device, for me its a crap. More if they make a lot of fun of apple iphone, and the battery life of the S5 is WORST!

Didn't knew we could change to ART in the S5! Already rebooting to ART, I hope this give me at least 14 hours of battery life! :good: Thanks.
I'll let you know what happened.
I can tell the results tomorrow night when I get home after work to check if the battery life is awesome now.
Definitely some app misbehaving there. I never switch anything of - sync, wifi, GPS always on. On average 6-7 hours screen time. If doing low cpu tasks like reading a book I have got to 12 hours screen.
Worth doing a root and see what the problem is.
Okey! Well i tested the ART for two days now and got no problems so far.
Got WiFi, Bluetooth, Sync, 3G and Location on.
I hope the ART works for you, let me know.

I doubt that an unstable runtime will make your battery better. Check my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55250809&postcount=1309
Using a custom kernel and with a few apps frozen I get this awesomeness.

Samsung Gear. Tizen or Android?

Hi. Bought a Galaxy Gear 1. It's still on Android at the moment. Is it worth upgrading to Tizen? Are there any major advantages or disadvantages? Thanks
Battery is better on Tizen and there are more apps from the store. But it looks like Android is the only way to get it working with Lollipop at least with non Samsung phones.
Thanks for the reply. I'll do a bit more research. I read you can revert back to android but is that 100% or just if your lucky.
Thanks
android
I would say android all the way. I have tried tizen and didn't last long before downgrading. Android has a lot more apps available from play store and is much more versatile. Better battery on tizen perhaps but you can always clock the speed down on android which helps.

I have done it honestly 30 times or more, it works 100% but you have to follow the directions to a T otherwise you end up with touch not working. If that happens just start over, it's happened to me a few times by not booting to recovery.

The Gear I has been on Tizen since July of 2014; almost a year. Do any of the original third party Android apps even still work? I'd imagine Samsung's work to some extent but even they'll sunset as Android isn't a supported OS for the Gear I any longer. If someone's using a Gear with a non-Samsung phone I guess that's different because it's kind of "franken-phone" set up any way. But with all the cheap Android Wear options available that really do work with any Android phone it seems kind of illogical to cling to a Samsung-biased device anyway.
jelly bean
Null ROM is jellybean, jellybean is still very much supported. Just install play store and you have just about any app availiable , screen size permitting.
I think that Android, null rom, have no support for NOTIFICATIONS if Lollipop is on the phone (Note 3). No way to make them work, for me. Tried a lot of Gear Manager versions... :/

Been using above combo for long time .

I got some real over heating problems with using null 23 Rom for the Samsung gear 1. It continued to get really hot on my wrist and also displayed and over heating icon while charging. It have me hell to revert back to stock android, but I did. Dont know if I did something wrong but I did not try it again.
Very happy with Tizen.
I had such hi hopes for my gear but the app store was hopeless with the exception of watchstyler, upgraded to Tizen 3 days ago and can not believe the difference, Tizen really gives the gear wings. The watch faces in the Tizen app store are REALLY nice and I now have the apps I need, calender, calculater, flashlight and an app that lets me see on my watch through my phones camera. Not sure about the battery life but am so pleased to have upgraded.

Got a Gear Live!

Hey guys! I've got a few questions about this watch.
1) I have an iPhone. Can I side load apps like Google Maps, Sleep as Android, etc. with a computer?
2) I bought it on eBay and its the debug refurbished one. Whats the best tutorial for someone who hasn't used ADB recently?
3) Do I need a screen protector?
4) Did the battery life improve at all?
5) Can I use wifi even though its an iPhone?
Thanks guys! Sorry if these questions were asked before .
1. Install android wear from app store and see what you get
2. There are a few threads here. I suggest read up on them. Use gear live restore tool v2
3. Up to you
4. I generally get 2 days. Slightly more than when it was originally released
5. 95% sure the answer is no

Now that I've been using it, is it normal to drain 50% in 2 hours when connected to my phone? I used Gear Live restore tool, then I updated it to 5.1.1.
Do I need to calibrate the battery?

Wear OS 3.0, A Possibility?

Hey guys. Just a general question here. And, some sort of a poll here too.
Would LG roll out Android Oreo for the next update or Wear OS 3.0? Do you guys think that LG would continue to roll out updates for this watch?

Unfortunately, R.I.P this great watch....
Actually, I would guess yes - WearOS is now a layer over the firmware and it is updated as an app.
Google has said that "all devices currently on WearOS 2.0 will get 3.0
Yess definetly! They said only the LG G Watch won't get the update

It is not a "system update" but just a Playstore update for the watch UI, no change in OS
Automatic if your Playstore watch apps update is set to "auto" or manual if not.

Yes, the left/right/up/down swiping is more intuitive and the notifications are more detailed. The watch seems snappier for most things, except the Play Store. This update fixes many of the mistakes Google made with the 2.0 update (like swiping left or right to change the watch face).
Just a heads up that my brother's LG Watch Urbane got the new UI update today. My Huawei Watch still hasn't, but that's besides the point. The update is going to happen,
I got it this morning
Also instaled 2.16 when watch few days ago offered. But donĀ“t know, in my watch battery keep less than with older version. Will do reset today and will test tomorrow. I think that less lasting battery is because of much more notifications from phone, but will see tomorrow. I have W150.
It's great to see that our watch is still updated !
I find as well that batery life is less as before.
Before update, i could finish the day with 50%, and now, i finish at 30%.
Just got the update today!
Wow it is a lot quicker and more smooth. They added cool stuff like battery saving mode, more settings when swiping down, easier to read the notifications and so on...
I actually liked it a lot and happy to see it still gets the UI updates. I cant tell anything about the battery life since the update happened a few hours ago. Great work LG!
