The standard thread question...
I didn't see any prior topics about this. I use the CM9 nightlies.
I've tried the following:
Browser (I haven't really used this much)
Chrome (I get a lot of crashes when I scroll quickly on sites with heavy coding)
Dolphin (Don't like how the address bar disappears when scrolling down)
Dolphin Mini (I like how the address bar stays, but this browser has limited features)
Opera HD (Meh)
Maxthon (Everyone says to use this one. While it's nice, I've found that you can't really open a lot of tabs with this browser without it crashing and/or freezing.)
What do you guys use? What should I try?
It doesn't look like you have tried Firefox, so that might be worth a go. It is a very personal choice, but I have stuck with the ICS browser for most use (also have Chrome, Dolphin and Firefox installed).
Dolphin. It's fast and fullscreen. I would've used Chrome (i like the sync with Google account), but it's laggy and adress bar and tabs are unhideable.
For now, I'm using ICS Browser+.
I have most of the ones mentioned installed, but use ICS Browser+ most of the time.
I've just been using the standard browser. It allows a desktop user agent, supports flash, has tabs and is pretty stable which is all i need.

I think opera mobile its more stable browser
I myself haven't found any reason to switch from the stock browser. I love the quick controls.
I like Dolphin HD for all my Andorid decices. I like having multipe tabs open.
*EDIT*scratch that, after a few days.of ok browsing with Dolphin HD, I can't even get it open without crashing. It's constantly asking me to send an error report. Gonna try uninstalling and reinstalling and see what happens.

The new Firefox is probably the fastest browser on android.
I still use the Firefox Nightlies because I like the gestures for closing tabs.

One thing about Dolphin's address bar disappearing when browsing, you can change the setting so its always showing.

Hi all, just wondered what people's thoughts were on the best browser? I stopped using stock Sense because I preferred to swipe away multi tabs rather than closing them down by tapping the x; I know it sounds simple but I always found it annoying, particularly when I'd tap the x but end up missing and bringing up the page I was trying to close.
Anyway, have been using Chrome and that seemed ok but also wondered if people had any luck using stock android?
I downloaded an apk from an article in Modaco regarding stripping down sense and it seemed to work ok (I'm not rooted or anything, just installed the apk as regular).
I think I find stock android quicker than stock sense but not sure if it's just me wanting stock android to be quicker? In any case, there's not much between all 3.
Anyone else had experience with different browsers or even using stock android on their one?
My opinion:
atm the best browser for me is Chrome, for sync with pc and the speed.
The new HTC browser is optimized very good, i like it! Because the older in sense 4+ on the One X was very terrible.
Dolphin is good, is speed and no prob!
I don't like opera so i can't give a feedback
However, maxthon browser is nice too

Thanks, haven't tried those; Am giving firefox a run for today, so far, I'm actually quite impressed....
I tend to use Boat Browser now https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boatbrowser.free
Mainly for the fullscreen ability.
I've had my HTC One for 7 days now
Been switching back and forth between Sense5 default, Chrome and Firefox and to my great dissapointment, all three browsers are mutually exclusive good at something.
Default: Text warping for better reading - really really useful feature that i've wanted all the time i've had iPhones (last 5 years)
Chrome: MUCH better tabbing experience ! - fastest browser...
Firefox: Best search feature... multiple search engines in the same time, by pressing the right button...
however, i tend to use Chrome more than the other two ..
The new Opera browser just came out today !
Has Text warping and coverflow-tab browser...
is built on WebKit, so its just as fast as Chrome...
check it out
I agree with those using Chrome. I loved it on my iPhone and now that Android is my life, it seems as much integration I can get with Google products the better. I especially like viewing desktop Chrome bookmarks on my phone. Also, if I leave a page (or 5) open on my desktop I can also view them directly on my mobile Chrome app.
For me
-Dolphins and
-Firefox

I was using the sense browser, but I can't stand how when you open a new tab you are immediately taken to it.
Now I am trying Firefox. I just downloaded it last night, and so far so good. Give it a try.

I'm using the stock browser at the moment. I tried a few others (though not chrome), and like it best. I use it in fullscreen mode, and with the quick controls pie navigation to maximize my screen real estate.
When i disable 'Merge tabs and apps' feature in Google Chrome, I find the animation between changing tabs very janky, and at least twice a day the entire device freezes for a few minutes. Even the power button stops working.
It does this on Android 5.1/LMY47D and LMY47I. Using a clean flash of the factory images, completely stock, unrooted.
Anyone else experiencing the same freezing issues in Google Chrome (even the Chrome Beta version does it) when changing tabs?
No out problems when switching here. I prefer the new style tho

Same here with stock and rooted N6. Highly annoying and I think it's because of Chrome. I tried Chrome beta two months ago and the same thing happened then and now few weeks ago when the actual Chrome updated, problems started with it too. It worked just fine with previous version without that "pulldown to refresh" update.
Only thing that helps is by pressing power button 10 sec and force reboot.
I've found if I press the power button, a minute or two later the screen will turn off. I can then launch the camera, immediately go to Recent Apps and swipe away the frozen Chrome app.
Hopefully there will be a fix soon.
Thanks everyone for your info. At least I know its not an issue with me
Also seeing this with brand new Nexus 6, LMY47M. Very frustrating. But I can't stand "Merged tabs and apps" --- makes it way to hard to find all my tabs!

I found an alternative tab switching method in chrome://flags
Enable Accessibility Tab Switcher.
This removes the animation when switching tabs and presents a basic list of tabs. Not perfect as it can be hard to know which tab is which if you have multiple tabs on the same website.
This usually occurs when I attempt to open a new tab. The animation for opening the tab will stutter, then crash a few seconds later. I have tried uninstalling chrome multiple times, but I have not had success.
I've noticed this when I newly open the app and start typing right away. Tried clearing cache for chrome but still persists..

I've noticed in regular chrome and chrome beta, but not in chrome dev.
Been running it a week and it hasn't happened once. Happened daily with the others.
I was having the same issue for a while, particularly when opening and starting to type right away (using Swiftkey if that matters). Cleared data on Chrome, and so far so good, but it's only been a day or two.
Yes clearing data keeps it running fine for a while..then its back

I'm also using SwiftKey. Have any of you filed a bug to Google?
I don't use SwiftKey and the same thing happens.

Same here, very odd. I'll try the dev version and see what happens.
I too experience Chrome crashing on loading (i.e., tap on Chrome, Chrome loads up, then crashes immediately prior to opening up a new tab to start surfing a website). My S6 has Android 5.02, G920AUCU1AOE2 baseband, still affected on CleanROM 1.1-OE2, with Chrome 42.0.2311.111.
Same behavior here, sporadic crashes. Using TouchPal, but have swiftkey installed. Will try dev version.
Switched to Samsung's browser myself. Uses less resources (I think that's why chrome is crashing) and is as fast as the iPhone's safari browser.
Again - no crashes on Chrome Dev. Not once and I've been running it over a week.
Is this happening only for the bloated AT&T version? Man I hate this random crashing... I really shouldn't have got the AT&T version.
I have AOE2 version ROM, and latest Chrome browser.
I don't think the keyboard matters. I'm using Google Korean Keyboard.
Same situation even after the latest update from att.
I'm using chrome dev, no issues crashing any longer

Hey! I just got the Nexus 6 last week and I noticed an annoying issue with Chrome: when the phone finish loading a page there is this lag on chrome when I try to scroll. It just pauses for maybe 1 or 2 seconds.
I tried Stock rom, then Chroma and Pure Nexus (after wiping everything ofc) & LK Hellscore Blu_spark kernel, and I have still this issue.
It's a shame I can't get smooth scrolling with such a powerful device. Otherwise I absolutely love Chrome. I tried UC firefox & Opera & I keep coming back to Chrome... My nexus 6 is very fast otherwise (I'm experiencing some lag with the GEL launcher too, when I swipe to Google now's card but I had the same issue with my LG G2).
Anyone else has this issue? Maybe there's a tweak somewhere I missed?
Yeah. Chrome is a very heavy browser for these devices I think. I have noticed that on some pages on the n6 and my s6 too
I can't understand how Google can't make a good browser without scrolling sluggisshness in 2015 on his own devices!
