When I open up the safestrap app and click uninstall, it says it was sucessfull but when I reboot my phone the safestrap boot still comes up saying safestrap disabled. How can I uninstall it? Is there anyway I can do it from a terminal emulator or file manager?
Someone please help!
Just ODIN the official firmware.

Hi, Daneshm90, nice to see you here. I guess he has root, since both apps require root to run.
It's strange, because I use rootexplorer and I am able to delete the unwanted apps. however, I noted that if you boot into recovery, there are some messages saying installing default apk files (?) before the recovery screen came up.
Not sure if the recovery is restoring these apps.

Since you are uninstalling default stock apps, anyway your warranty is going to void. Then why not install custom rom which doesn't have any of these bloatwares.
You could find one in development section.
ANDRO-ID v3.3 RC2 is the stable custom rom release till now.
If you want to remove only few specific apps and retain others which are absent in current Andro-id release then wait for few days, I will post a "how-to-build custom rom from stock " soon. Then you can remove any apps that you want add any apps / ui launcher as default system launcher.

Use titanium backup to selectively restore apps data that you want. but it would be better to have complete wipe before installing custom rom.

no no no a little bit wrong here ... chage it to r/w i.e read and write so you can edit the files mere being on r/o means u r in read only mode and here u cant delete
We can also do an adb and remove the apps from /system/data by using the command prompt in the system or Terminal in the phone?
I haven't tried it in my device yet. But I think this shud work.
How to fix it?
I was trying to install Root Explorer for open read only in system folder but after installed then open, some word appear like this The application Root Explorer (process com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.

Update your RE to 2.17 and your su-app and su-binary to the newest versions.
It wil,l work, and if it´s not responding or you get FCs, enable the feature to kill apps by holding the back-button in the app-settings and kill the app by pressing and holding the back buttonm and the next time, it will open without any problems!
If not, just try it again, and again, and if it still doesn´t work after five attempts, uninstall it and install it again.
You could also try to delete the app´s log in the su-app.
Root Explorer 2.17 works for me on GDX v.019

So thing to install it. Copy it into the system/app folder and set the correct permission. If you deleted the odex for of them then you'll need to get those too. Or use another launcher. Touchwiz launcher sucks anyways.

So I ended up doing a factory reset. and everything is working fine.
The funny thing is after the factory reset, none of the Samsung and AT&T bloat was on there., including My magazine and magazine.
Only Samsung apps were the health and S note / drawing.

So I downloaded the .apk and got the same did not install as the previous user and I'm fairly new to rooting, so would like to resolve this somehow without having to go back to stock and potentially re-root...thanks for your patience. I am using a SM-900V. Is the system when i just paste it into the base of my phone when connected to my computer? Also, how do I change permissions? I downloaded Root Toolbox free and don't see how to do it in there.

Ok, so I bought Root Explorer and was able to transfer the MagazineHome.apk and the Lounge.apk into system/app and then I changed the permissions to rw-r-r, and then I rebooted. When swiping up from home screen I get no application installed and I also still get TW has stopped when I hit the home button while on the home screen. Another note is that when I rebooted, just about right away I got unfortunately my magazine has stopped. Any help from this point?

Go into system apps and delete the two, reboot, install them again and reboot. You could also try going into recovery if you have twrp installed or CWM and try fixing permissions after you re-install the apks again.

Well that's just odd. I just installed them on my phone and they did say not installed but after a reboot the app was there. Do you have unknown sources checked on in settings? Maybe try using es file explorer, its free.
Just upgraded my phone to 6.0.1 and I went to uninstall a couple of system apps I never use (Google + and Google Fit). Normally, I just uninstall them with Titanium Backup and then reboot the phone and they're gone for good, at least until I flash the next stock rom update.
This time however, while Titanium Backup says the apps are uninstalled, after I reboot the phone they're still there, and in fact are once again showing as active in Titanium Backup. I've tried doing this a number of times, all with the same result.
I don't know if this is something model specific, specific to 6.0.1, or if it's just something with my phone. Never had this trouble before, which leads me to think that Google changed something in 6.0.1, and I will need to wait for Titanium Backup to update their app.
Anyone else experiencing these issues, or have any advice on how I can get rid of these unwanted apps?
just use any root file explorer, go to /system/app/ or /system/priv-app/, delete whichever app you dont need, reboot, and problem solved?

Tried that (using both ES File Explorer and X-plore). In both cases I get a message saying the file/folder can't be deleted.
The only other thing I can think of is that I'm now using a systemless root. Not sure if that would make a difference or not, but I believe that's different from when I was on 6.0.

do you have busybox installed? do you want to try a custom kernel? oh, big question, are you sure that you have root???
Titanium Backup wouldn't work for me either with systemless root on 6.0.1. But I was able to delete some system apps using Root Explorer so I could install xposed.

Have Busybox installed (was part of the image I flashed), but I'd rather not get into flashing a custom kernel or using a custom ROM. Really just prefer the stock ROM, and to be truthful the only real reason I root my devices is so t hat I can have an ad-blocker, and to remove unwanted apps that can't normally be uninstalled.

Looked into that, and if I was looking at the right app, it's a $3.99 cost to get it. I don't mind paying for apps, but not sure I want to go this route just yet if I'm only going to use it for this one instance. Will definitely keep it in mind though if no other options become available.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble though - makes it more likely the developers will work on getting a fix for the issue.
When in doubt on this kinda stuff try setting kernel to permissive with the SELinux changer app. Also you can try deleting them from recovery if you've got TWRP.

Heh, what you're proposing goes a bit over my head, so I"ll have to do a bit of investigating if it comes down to it. It's not crucial that I get rid of these two apps, just something I've been doing since I never have any intention of using them. If the problem never gets sorted out by the developers however, and the aggravation gets to be too much, I'll take a serious look at the two options you've proposed.

Huh no kidding? I've never had to use it since I started using the v4a permissive mediaserver zip. Yea I guess if that's the case you'll have to do it in recovery or wait for apps to be updated
None of these options worked for me. What did work, was using SDMaid to uninstall the apps. I got rid of Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. It made enough space to install busybox, xposed, and adaway's hostfile.
On a stock rom you can't remount system as rw, so you can't delete stuff. So uninstall will miss its last step, deleting the apk, so reboot installs it again.
But you can boot into TWRP, mount system and have your way with it.

With a permissive kernel this is not needed, correct istperson?

Yes, I have a very permissive kernel, and both in terminal and root explorer.
