I recently got the lg optimus x2. It is running on 2.3.4.
Initially, the wifi connected but 3g was not recognised even though data roaming and access was enabled. However, now i cannot even connect to wifi. It keeps saying 'obtaining ip add' and then fails.
Going through various google searches I have messed around with the settings, set apn to default. Done factory reset. Disconnected, reconnected, changed sim cards, tried 2g, messed around with vpn, selected all network mode's but nothing seems to work. I have contemplated rooting the phone but doubt this will do anything?
This is extremely frustrating considering the "amazing" reviews the phone has one expects a simple tool such as wireless connection to work.
Would be grateful if anybody had any other ways to possibly resolve the issue?????
Thanks

Did you put the right password in for the router?(;
sent from my wii remote
I have heard that this phone only supports some Wi-Fi channels.
Try to change your Wi-Fi channel to 6, for example.

yes, i did....the wifi worked for the first two days when i got the phone but then stopped working.....
ok give up....waste of money and time
gonna throw it out of the window
There are two things you could do ...
1. Return the LG 2X - if that's still possible
2. Switch to a Custom ROM
Installing the first official LG update to my phone was a major setback for me as a lot of things stopped working, that worked before. But switching to a Custom ROM made me a happy man.
Have you considered trying out e.g. DjangoManouche (2.3.x) it is based on the stock ROM but has massive improvements built in.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410662
If you feel like you want the ICS experience there is NovaHD (based on CM9)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508492
The only glitch with CM9 is, that there are currently no drivers for the Tegra2 chipset released which results in lack of FullHD video recording, beside that the ROM works like a charm.
I am running NovaHD on my 2x now and not willing to go back to Gingerbread ;-)
If there is anything I can help you with, just let me know!
Cheers!

I cant download clockworld mode...so i tried to do it through the computer...and now the phone wont switch on
Hi,
that doesn't sound too good - did you follow any instructions installing clockworkmod?
I installed it using RomManager on the phone itself, worked like a charm.
Did you root your phone already?
I couldn't install it directly as i had no 3g/wifi (initial issue)...after i transferred the Nova Hd file into the SD, installed clockworld through PC and attempted a restart it wouldnt switch back on
Have you tried removing the battery and inserting it again? - Did you turn on the phone while pressing volume down (until the first LG logo disappears)?
This should then boot into clockwork recovery if you installed it correctly before.

done both, nothing works- phone is dead as a brick
This might be a dumb question, but has the battery still power? Have you tried with the power cord attached?
Is there nothing on the screen, no lights blinking? Brick dead?
Does this sound similar?

I am really sorry that you encountered these severe problems :-(
Did charging at the wall or just running off wall power do anything?
This might be late, but here are some topics that could be of help:

Hi!
I own Samsung S3 mini phone since 2 weeks. I used to use GPS alot for outdoor sports, such as biking or hiking with my old Samsung Galaxy Ace phone. I'm running a problem with the GPS as the signal lost every minute, so I can't record my own ride or anything.
I've been checking this site but i didn't see anything regarding to this issue. I know that a lot of people is getting this problem with S3 terminal, and they have developed some fixes that can solve the problem, but not for S3 mini. Do anyone know something about it? I read somewhere that this problem could be caused by the RADIO or MODEM file, but i can't see any other file to try it out.
I'm runing a rooted deodexed ROM (AMB3)
Hope someone can help with this issue. I tried with GPS STATUS but is not fixing the problem.
Cheers
sorry guys... I just flashed 4.1.1 firmware and now works cool. Isn't anyone with this troubles in 4.1.2?
Hello everyone,
I've been reading the forum for this phone thoroughly and yet, I was not able to find an answer that would help me.
I have the 4X HD since a couple of months already, and while the performance is not as good as I expected, it satisfies most of my daily activities, until now.
I bought a Steelseries FREE gamepad to play and forget the annoying touch controls on most of my games, but to my surprise, the bluetooth simply doesnt work with the gamepad, it pairs with the device, but oddly, it cannot connect to it.
I tested the pad with another android devices and it works like a charm, the latest one was a LG L7 with ICS V10a and I was able to use the gamepad without problems.
My 4X has, or better said, had (im rolling back to ICS) JB V20a europe open firmware, and it is extremely frustrating that I have to go back to ICS, especially because I was enjoying the features of JB a lot.
Is there a way for me to keep JB and make the bluetooth work?
I tried flashing the phone to different versions of JB, even one from taiwan V20b, and still had the same problem.
Now, I'm not a power user, I dont understand 90% of the terminology used here, or where to find the tools, or how to use them, I downloaded the tool "All-in-one" and I had no clue what to do with it, googled some of the terms but it didnt really helped.
If someone can lend me a hand here I would be very very grateful :good:
Im looking forward to improve the overall performance of the phone, since it doesnt perform very good on several games.
Thanks in advance
R.
EDIT: ICS V10H europe open did not fix the problem, now im basically stuck and dont know what to do :/
EDIT 2: V10A doesnt work either, im considering changing my phone for a htc phone :/
Got my hands - ( don't ask how ) - on what appears to be a fake S5 Mini. Everything about it says Samsung, however neither Kies nor Odin detect the phone and the specs are all wrong anyway. Attached are screenshots from Device Info and CPU-Z.
The phone actually works OK, though it's not nearly as good as a real S5 Mini. But there are several glitches in the system: some apps or options just don't work, multi-language support is deficient, etc.
Nothing surprising from a clone.
Question: is there a ROM I can try to load to that device to see if I can make it work better? I was reading up on MoKee (because of the serrano3g identifier in the model name displayed by CPU-Z), would one of those ROMs work? The phone/wifi/BT portions all work correctly, so I guess there's no need to flash a new radio. Then again, I haven't flashed an Android device in a couple years, I'm basically like a newbie at that stuff, so if anyone can provide me with information on what/how to flash, I'd be grateful.
Thanks!
neat
Any pictures of the phone itself?
SOC seems to be a MediaTek MT6572 if correct see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687487
@protogenxl: Visually, it's an exact replica of a Samsung S5 Mini, with the brandname and all. So if you check out the Samsung site, you'll find plenty of pictures there!
As for the thread you mentioned, I had already read it but I'm still not sure whether that particular ROM can be installed on my device, even though it's a MT6572 ROM. And keep in mind that I am a newbie on flashing devices, so I'm not even sure where to start, what tools to use and what I should be looking for.
Thanks for the suggestion, though!
s5
I have a S5 Mini G8800-F, so the most interesting part would be the layout of the inside of the battery compartment, is the dead space for a second sim there etc....
I would say first order of business is getting a custom recovery installed and getting full backups of original OS in a safe place, after that should be relatively hard to completely brick it as I seriously doubt the clone company put any effort in to boot security
@protogenxl: I'll try and upload a picture of the battery compartment later today. Don't recall seeing a second SIM slot in there, though.
And I agree with you that the clone company didn't put any effort on securing the device. It was rooted when I got it, it's got one of those chinese bootloader menus (I found a video on Youtube explaining what each option means).
As for the custom recovery, should I just pick any of them or are there any recommendations specific to this chipset (or do I even have to care about the chipset at that stage)?
@protogenxl it has been to long since I messed with sisters then boyfriend's phone to get it usable but if memory serves I got a custom made version of CWM from the ChinaPhoneArenea forum.
@protogenxl: here's a youtube video I found which describes the exact device I have: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_-OoKhkD_0
It shows it with its back cover open around the 2:30 mark.
I have a Sm-T580 I got from my dad because the Wifi and Bluetooth isn't working. I thought it was an easy fix and he bought a new one so I figured hey I have a new tablet. I'm between a techy and a newbie. I have had androids since the moment and have rooted, bricked and unbricked several phones in between and I now have the S8+. So I have tried downloading different firmware, I have rooted the tablet I have wiped the system os using TWRP and reinstalled another current os and now I am using the ultra lean rom and i can not get the wifi or bluetooth to turn on. Neither of them have an IP address or bluetooth address. I don't know what else to do. Can any one help?

Since wifi and Bluetooth both do not work, it seems to me as if the chip is roasted, cuz they both share the same chip. At least this was my experience with S4.
Big chance, that this is a hardware issue maybe from water damage.
Wasn't dropped in water that I know of but I have about exhausted all other options. Thx
