Lumia 930 windos logo (led) noti - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,um new to the lumias,
Just got it yesterday, and im a little disappointed,no glance,no noti led,
so i was wondering if there was a mod that makes the windows led (aka home button) a notifitaction led?

Well someone didnt do his homework before buying
What you are asking is not ( yet ) possible.

Using the buttons that way is a col idea, but I don't know how I'd go about it. There are some registry values that control their behavior, but I don't know of any way to have them act as notification LEDs or to take direct control. Something to keep an eye out for, though.
The 930 really doesn't have Glance? That's... really weird; even most mid-range Lumias have that, and the 930 is pretty high-end. Make sure the phone is fully up-to-=date and that you've installed the latest version of Glance from the store, if possible...

Nope, the 930 doesnt have glance because of the screen ( no memory ).

Also it would be cool a cool idea to use that button to wake up the device or press and hold to unlock just like iphone 6 hahaha

Maybe in the future (with finall Windows 10 for phones) we can use led in our devices (if we have HW led - eg. L735 or L930 are equipped with LED):

HKeyboard Colors

Everyone must know about the "Missed Call" app that allows you to change that top LED light to any color you want. The hardware keyboard lights are LED as well arent they?
So would it be at all possible to say change the colors of the keyboard lights to something other than white? A nice blue would be really sweet at night time, or red too. Is this possible?
Thanks .
I can't be 100% sure because I haven't seen the layout of the insides of the G1. However, I believe that white is the only color. The LED next to the speaker is a multiple color LED was made that way to warn you of Low Battery and such.
I would assume to save space that they are LED lights, heck they are on cheaper phones (like my SE w580i). They also are cheaper on battery power I think...
Just wondering if there are some API's to work with for that, if not oh well it was just curiosity but would be really cool though.
I took apart my G1 awhile back. There's a couple of pictures of the physical keyboard if you want to take a look at.

Hmm thanks for the link
Though from the pictures I cant really tell what the keys are, they look like round covered dots with mini dots in it...maybe LED under those? Maybe not at all?
I guess its impossible, no one has stated either way so I dont know...I really wish I knew where to look [in the code] to see if its possible [myself] buut its pretty close to Japanese to me..heh

[Q] disable hardware buttons backlight

hi
is there any way to disable the led of the hardware buttons. i know where the buttons are. i dont need a light to find them. and it looks ugly when they light up. after i used them i always wait to touch the screen until they are off.
I think neldar knows the most about this since he has done the backlight notifications mod. It would be super to have an option in the recovery to disable backlight in the buttons. They are annoying at night when using Screen filter to dim the screen, buttons are very bright in contrast to the screen.
Agreed. I would love to be able to switch them off.
Yes this is true and really anoying!
At night they are much to bright. Would love a "disable" option, too.
Is it maybe possible to dimm the buttons, too?? This would really be awesome
ok, i'm not the only one who wants that leds switched off. but isn't there anyone who has an idea how to do that
Anyone figured this out yet?
i found an app in the market called“ leds hack“. it supports samsung vibrant, but it dont works on my phone. isnt it the us-name for the sgs? maybe the rom is the problem. i'm on darkys 9.3
i tryed to find the script that controls the backlight. here: stackoverflow.com/questions/4152053/android-turn-off-key-lights i found this info:
A: The keyboard backlight can be controlled via /sys/class/leds/ keyboard-backlight/brightness. It appears that it's a simple on-off control (echoing '0' turns it off, echoing '1' or higher turns it on). For some reason, the default system backlight control stuff seems to set this to "83", but I don't know why. I can't seem to see any difference between 83 and any other number. The file is readable by anyone, but only writable by root, so you'll need root access to the phone to manipulate it this way.
can anyone tell me where i can find the file on my phone...
Has anyone found the answer?
This is honestly something that I would even pay for if a dev wanted to create a little app or mod that could do this quickly and easily for those that are not confident to make these changes on their own.
No one? :/

this doesnt exist on our android.
There is is /sys/devices/virtual/misc/melfas_touchkey/brightness
you can do
echo '1' > /sys/devices/virtual/misc/melfas_touchkey/brightness
to turn it on, but i have not found a way to turn it off permanently
Can some one bind this to light sensor? So that we can have it disabled during day and have it enabled at night??
how can i edit this files? i cant find an editor or something like that. i'd like to play around with this script?

I don't have the folder /leds. What version of android do you have?
I found this. As a new user, I can't send links to the forum, I paste the important part:
Samsung GT-I9000
s3c-keypad
- scancode = 26 (confirmed with keylayout/s3c-keypad.kl)
/sys/class/backlight/s5p_bl/brightness
drivers/input/keyboard/s3c-keypad.c
drivers/video/backlight/backlight.c
- brightness and actual_brightness 's get/set method. (actual_brightness is read only)
drivers/video/samsung/s3cfb_tl2796.c
- Samsung's implementation. MIN_BL = 30. Lower than this == black out.
Could it be useful?
Thanks

[Q] Notification LED

Hello everyone,
writing from Italy, where this smartphone should arrive in these days. I already pre-ordered it, but I'd like to know if there is any kind of notification led on board (like the one that Nokia 5800 XM has - sorry for this link but it's my phone at the moment and I find the notification light very comfortable) or if perhaps there is a way to access the softkey buttons so that I can command them to light on if any notification is available.
Thanks in advance and have a good evening
In a nutshell, no notification light and no application for the button lights yet.
Thanks well, do anyone know the object I shall refere to access those lights? I really hope they are objects and not just "part of the screen"...
If I recall correctly, someone did actually mod the softkey buttons on the Galaxy S for notification purposes. If it was done there, why not on the 2X?
Edit:
There it was: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772672
Now all we need is CWM and a custom kernel with this thing implemented.
What I can say from inspecting the service manual so far is some bad news sadly:
All leds connect to the same source.
This means, the LEDs cannot be illuminated individually, only together.
I'll dig into it some more. Maybe I can find out something more.
Edit: Alright, here's some more.
The power source for the LEDs is realized by the LXW and/or FBW outputs of the MAX8907C which seems to be a power IC for the platform (it provides possibly all major voltage flavors inside the assembly)
The device is controlled via one of the I²C buses of the AP20 chip (PWR_I2C_SDA and PWR_I2C_SCL) but sadly, I couldn't get a hold of any datasheet for this chip, so further progress is work for those who can dig deep enough into the OS and kernel to control the appropriate outputs.
What if we inspect the source of the software coded for the Nexus S so that we can actually change the parameters and make it work on the 2x?
Well, since the "Hidden Menu" has an option for dimming the light on those buttons, shouldn't it be posible to use the same functionality to make notification light out of it?
This "Hidden Menu" must be some apk or something?

Nexus S is a completely different platform. I think starting from scratch would be just as hard than tweaking the Nexus S code.
Searching the APK of the Hidden Menu could be more promising.
I'll start digging as soon as I get my phone... it's taking ages to arrive here in Italy ::facepalm::

Notification LED - brighness

Hello,
i would like to know if it is possible to change the brightness of the notification led.
It is very hard to notice if it is on or not, i need to pick up my xperia t to see it.
Even if it lays on the table you won't notice the led.
Am i the only one who thinks it should be brighter?
Is it possible let it be brighter?
yee i have the same problem here..its sad that you cant change colors/bright or frequency in android..
yes i know..theres some programs in market but theyre sux to be honest :<<
I agree. The led is probably the worst feature of this great phone, totally useless.
There's an app to flash the camera led when there are notifications, but if the phone is laying on the table you won't see it either.
I don't know if we can open the messenger app and change it in the code. That would be cool. I should start programming android.

Try this, it's brilliant

[Q] Oneplus One capacitive buttons for notifications

Hi guys,
I was thinking about the possibility to make (for example) the home button of the OPO on the bottom blink for notifications in stead of the notification led at the top.
Does someone know an app that can make this happen?
Sorry if this question is already asked elsewhere but I didn't find it up till now.
Grtz
It's more than possible, it's called back-light notifications (BLN) search the playstore and you should see some apps. Though I don't understand why you'd want it, seeing how there's a notification led (that'd consume less battery), but I suppose to each their own?
Edit: Sorry had a brainfart, and forgot to mention you most likely need a kernel which supports BLN and to my knowledge no one has included it, since it's a bit redundant, and taxes the cpu and impacts battery life for no reason. It's extremely useful on phones without a notification led, and more common. But I suppose it can be easily ported to the 1+ if there's an oppo find7a kernel that supports it, if you wanted to tackle it.
Edit 2: Looked around, and apparently an app called 'LightFlow' might not need a custom kernel (?) Worth checking out.

Just wanted to thank you for helping someone out. You are awesome ?
Oneplus Nexus 5
I like the idea. But unless the capacitive buttons are bright enough to actually see... I just can't see this working all that well. Really wish the buttons were brighter so that this would be possible.
