Successfully unlock the bootloader on my W8 PC and tried to root the phone.
However, I get "waiting for device" after entering "fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_CF-Auto-Root-ported_FW-350.img" at command prompt.
Thinking that the bootloader unlock was unsuccessful, I repeated the process again and tried the fastboot command again......and it still had the "waiting for device " messsage
I disconnected the phone from the PC and powered on the phone and now its boot-looping.
Please help.....

looks like you do not flashed the kernel so it is not booting
PS: Did you have a blue light during flashing ?

Thx everyone!! i solve the boot loop!~
since i can enter fastboot mode through pressing volume up and connect to PC
so i try to flash the remaining stock kernel and work
problem solve!~
Am still stuck with bootloop
I can get into fastboot but cant flash the ftf as well.
I tried Flashtool (not the beta for Z) and also downloaded the French firmware and Z ftf.
But I cant the the green LED on my Z when connected to the PC (My Z had no LED lights)
However, when I launched Flashtool, it was able to detect my phone.
I proceeded to flash with ftf but it stayed "Flashing...." for a very long time.

Looks like the drivers is likely the problem. But what drivers are you refering to?
The drivers from Android SDK, The Flashtool/Fastoot drivers or the Z drivers?
I have installed tboth he drivers from Android SDK with Google USB Rev 7 and from Fastboot and Flashtool drivers from Flash.
PC just cant detect phone at all
Thanks to those who responded to my thread.

the kernel i used was Romaur. press start. after that you will enter recovery in youre phone and go to sideload.
now in sideload, typ adb sideload Romaur kernel, or any i think, just tested Romaur. press enter and after you done, you are not having issues with bootloop anymoore
hello, my xperia sp has been soft-bricked! im trying to get it back to normal, but i can't!
i downloaded the stock firmware for my phone c5306( .205 ) and im trying to flash it via flashtool.
a hundred times i have got the system.sin error! drivers updated, tried with different pcs, different cables! no result, same error!
i also tried excluding system.sin from the right column, all other files are flashed normally! but when i try system.sin, error!
also, my phone shows green light after sometime after i plug it into the charger! when i remove it and hold power button for 2sec, the red led flashes and goes off, if i hold it it keeps flashing!
also it will only show sony logo after flash mode has been exited!
please help me! i have spent 3 days on it(day and night) but still no solution!:crying:
i just got this phone 1 week ago!
i have also attached the image of the error!
please help devs! i will be very greatful!
the reason i think is that when the system.sin is almost done, the phone is exiting flashmode? this might be the reason?
if yes please give solution!
( i checked by disconnecting phone while the flashing was halfway through, same error!)
Firstly, try flashing some different FTF files, as this is most likely the problem.
If that doesn't work and you are already on unlocked bootloader, you can try the following:
1. Flash everything in the .ftf file using the latest Flastool, except system (system.sin).
2. Open the .ftf file using 7zip and extract the system.sin.
3. Flash the system.sin using fastboot: fastboot flash system system.sin.
The above method has worked for others with similar problems. Again, only for unlocked bootloader.
If that fails you might also have corrupted or broken NAND memory. Hardware issue is surely a probability.
Other might have other suggestions...

In the folder where you extracted fastboot.
Fastboot is a program on it's own. I'm not talking about the fastboot mode in flashtool. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979)
Again, ONLY FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
If you haven't unlocked it, this methode won't work.
Try flashing a different FTF, as I mentioned after editing my post.

Your battery is dead, but since android said it was upgrading apps, this means your problem is most likely fixed.
Let it charge for a few hours.

Glad you got everything sorted.
Unless an Xperia SP has hardware problems, i'm quite sure it cannot get fully bricked.
I have exactly the same problem
Could you give me the steps to fix this problem? I have exactly the same problem when i try to install android with flashtool. No matter the version:
"24/017/2014 23:17:58 - ERROR - Processing of system.sin finished with errors.
24/017/2014 23:17:58 - INFO - Ending flash session
24/017/2014 23:17:58 - ERROR - 31 : A device attached to the system is not functioning.
24/017/2014 23:17:58 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted"
And when i try to power up a red led is blinking. If i connect the charger the red led stays on. Also, its hard to enter flashmode (green led) and fast boot (blue led) doesn't seem to work in Flashtool (in order to select system.sin to Flash). Despite the blue led is on, Flashtool doesn't let me to reboot into fastboot mode.
You got yourself a driver problem. Reinstall the drivers

you cant be hard bricked on locked bootloader . it hapenned to me. solutions:
1. get another ftf files, sometimes ftf can get damaged.
2. install custom drivers.
3. try different pcs (My Solution )
4. charge the phone 1 day (24hrs)
5. unlock bootloader and flash custom kernel and flash a rom, then u can flash stock and relock bl
6. change ur cable.
if no one of this solutions fix ur problem u are so bad

Lol its not a known problem and please do not notify Androxyde about it. Version post 0.19.8.6 but prior to 0.19.9.1 uses a template file called fsc to accommodate new xperia devices. This breaks support for older xperia devices that doesn't have the fsc template. The template can be created of course, but it seemed no one from the xperia sp community want to contribute lol.
So the versions that will make ftf flashable again is 0.19.8.6 and 0.19.9.1+. You could have solve this by yourself if you read the note given on the website properly.

I dont think you have successfully unlock your bootloader. Your attempt was failed. If it says "Bootloader unlock allowed : No" then how can u unlock it? If u think u unlocked it then try relocking your bootloader using flashtools and flash ftf.
Thanks for reply
But i was sure to unlock my bootloader before flashing that custom kernel (Williams v5.1)
After flashing that kernel my phone bricked
I flashed stock kernel
My phone powered on but bootloader unlocking allow changed to no and my phone show "invalid card"

Just tell me which method you unlocked your bootloader(flashtools or adb).
This could be RIL isuue(or maybe I'm thinking too much).

Just flash stock using flashmode(volume down) and boot stock ROM. Just check if SIM is working.
It can be that your SIM may have damaged so you check your SIM in some other phone.
I also see that you have no access to fastboot mode.I think the fastmode drivers are missing on your computer.
I can give you detailed steps if you want to know.

Williams kernel v5.1 on stock Sony rom build (.207)
T-Mobile USA
Hi,
I just installed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/development/final-solution-rom-lbl-t3073678
Everything went fine. I did all the steps. After installing the ROM and the fixes I chose system reboot from CWM Recovery. Since then I can't turn my phone on. If I press the power button there is a short vibration, but nothing happens.
1. Tried to reset with the button on the back of the phone. No go.
2. Tried all the button combination but can't even get back to recovery.
3. If I connect it to my computer then the led goes green and windows gives me that sound when you connect something new, but after 10 seconds the led turns off and I get the other sound for dismounting device. No diver can see it, neither flashtool does.
4. It doesn't charge. Well, at least the led does not turn on so I guess it's not charging.
Any idea?
You have a kernel problem, Flash with Flashtool the kernel of your rom in fastboot mode (Volume +, and connect your usb cable) with flashtool or if that don't available, flash a stock kernel in fastboot mode (Volume + and connect your usb cable at your phone), when it's flashed, restart your phone

I double checked that it works for locked bootloaded. It's even the name of the thread: [Final Solution ROM][UBL/LBL][V2][ODEXED for extreme smoothness][William's Kernel]
So the issue now is that I can't even install the driver (windows 10) as the device is being disconnected after 10 seconds of plugging in. I got the tft file now for the stock kernel and installed flashtool but it can't detect the phone (in that 10 secs), it says that driver is missing. Tried the C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe and selected the necessary drivers but it never succeeds. Attached the screenshot of the failure of installing the drivers.

pick stock ftf of your choice let it load and when it prompts you connect turned off phone with volume- pressed
then root it with towelroot and install super su, open it and update su binary
when you will be done with that contact me or respond to this post i will help you with next steps

OK, to be honest I don't get any of that. What is towelroot, how to install super su and how to update its binary? Also what do you mean "let it load" (ftf)?
I have to mention that the bootloader is locked because it can't be unlocked.

Yeah i know that your bootloader is not unlockable, by ftf loading i mean that select .ftf you want to flash first and wait until it prepares and prompts you to connect the phone, btw last flashtool that works with sp is flashtool-0.9.18.6 , if you will have problem with understanding that try to search how to flash ftf on xperia sp on youtube i hope you will get it eventually
towelroot is an app from geohot you can get it here https://towelroot.com/ it can root your device
super su is an app on google play it is free and it controls root apps, in other words it grants or denies root access, once you will gain root with towelroot, open super su and it will prompt you to update binary just select normal and it will work

I have version 0.9.19.10. And I can't select the file before I connect the phone with fastboot. The file has to be selected after. This is the tutorial I try to follow:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXTzA7Qrrv4
So my problem is still that I can't get into fastboot to flash the kernel. So towelroot and super su are not my options until I can't get into the system.
Any other clue on how to get it flashed?

you cant use fastboot with your bootloader locked that is the point there is NO WAY of flashing custom kernel with bootloader locked or you will brick your device, only way to flash kernel on lbl is to flash stock kernel in your case WITH FLASHTOOL TROUGH FLASHMODE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz3LVw_MfzQ this may help you understand what i am trying to tell you

I understand what you are saying. But flashtool doesn't let me flash kernel in flash mode.
So it's a catch 22? After all this means that it's already bricked, isn't it?

You are not trying to flash kernel only, but that is possible too, you are trying to flash whole stock firmware.
Yes your phone is bricked because you flashed custom kernel on LBL.
Download some .205 or .207 firmware from android development section of xperia sp xda forum and flash it with flashtool.
There are plenty of tutorials online, i dont mean to be rude but you just must try and understand it yourself.
Here you have link for firmwares http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964
just flash the ftf and phone should be ok, if you will be succesfull i can help you with rooting and flashing something suitable for locked bootloader xperia sp
Good luck

Wait a sec. It seems I could flash the kernel in flash mode.
It was keep disconnecting but finally the sony logo appeared and it booted to the system. It doesn't work properly, and it's very slow, but now I can get into CWM. Do you have any suggestion which ROM should I install on it?

I'm pretty sure there is not much I can do anymore... I don't have an os installed because I couldn't restore it (I coulnd't restore the data..). I'm stuck in twrp and it doesn't recognize sd card. The files in my internal storage are all corrupted. Is my phone now fully bricked? Is there a way to make the phone recognize the sd card? Also I cannot move files from my pc to phone..

Your problem now is getting an OS back on the phone. The screenshot you've posted shows it's not in flash mode whilst EMMA is running, so what does EMMA do when you connect it in flash mode when prompted? Restoring the phone with the Flashtool, Newflasher or EMMA shouldn't be this difficult.

Umm.. I think I'm in the starting point again..
your device software can't be checked for corruption please lock the bootloader. Stuck in bootloop. I tried to install firmware through EMMA (didnt get any errors so I thought it had installed the firmware). Tried newflasher
got this error:
ERROR: Error CreateFile! failed with error code 5 as follows:
Access is denied.
I when I broke my phone I accidentally flashed wrong firmware, this. Thanks for helping me!

I dunno maybe I just can't use EMMA but it doesnt seem to flash anything.. (phone in flash mode, EMMA doesnt report any problems but when I boot up it bootloops probably because there is no os installed) I was able to flash lineage os (that I had previously installed) but when I tried to set up it all apps crashed and it rebooted.. also I have one back up of the stock rom but twrp would give me some error 255...

What does it do??? Again, it shouldn't be this hard. The phone clearly isn't bricked so user error is at play here.

If you're able to flash Lineage why can't you use Flash Tool to wipe the device, flash stock firmware and start over? The device is not bricked.
How to update

If you're on the latest stock rom, you're already running Pie. Make sure you're on the latest.
The camera works well on Lineage 16 so you shouldn't be having issues. I would flash the latest stock firmware in Flash Tool. Then flash TWRP , and in TWRP flash the latest version of LOS 16. I'm running it currently and don't have any issues.
lol where is the delete button DD
