Isn't there a way to root any version of this device yet? I can live without cyanogenmod or many custom roms but without root would be really tough.
There is root and cyanogenmod 12 for g800f and g800h.

I know about cyanogenmod but I'm wondering about root. Where are the posts about root? Can you post them here? I looked in the development and original development (as well as the general forum) and didn't see anything.
I used this method to root my SM-G800F:

It worked very well

Thanks for sharing !
But i have one small question: do you need to unlock the bootloader in order for this to work ? Because they always say that in rooting tutorials.

Just unlock bootloader in Motorola's devices, in Samsung's devices no need it but your knox counter will trigger like unlock bootloader (warranty is void)

Yours is still a G800F phone. There shouldn't be any problem using the method suggested.

Wow thank you for the swift response! I'm sure you are correct, but my only concern is the bottom of the post containing the tutorial states its ONLY for a build No. different from mine. Again any further advice would be a great help! Thanks

I hadn't notice that. I guess you can ask in some chainfire specific forum or wait for someone that has rooted successfully with a slightly different phone model number.

I performed a software update when I got the phone a few weeks ago - does this change the build No? Kind of annoying if so, haha - as probably could have rooted with the method mentioned otherwise!
Anyway, thanks a lot for the advice I'll check in a Chainfire forum.
Cheers

Have rooted my phone now! :good: Found the info on another thread - it would appear that the root file I used (CF-Auto-Root-kminilte-kminiltexx-smg800f.tar.md5) is identical to the one mentioned in this thread - so in this case build No doesnt seem to matter. Cheers

Motorola is pretty new to me, so I still have to check what to do.
Unlock, cwm, ...
Seems to be different to desire.
When I unlock my device by using Motorola-homepage, warranty is gone finally, right?

Hi all,
I have installed before 2 years the above ROM and I want to ROOT it since I hate the ads and the limitations on some software of being un-rooted.
The baseband is I9000XXJW4,
Kernel version is [email protected] #2
and Build Number is GINGERBREAD.XWJW5.
Please let me know a way to easy root the device the easy way.
Thanks in advance!

Hey mrmazak,
Thanks for your development and the support of this community with Dirtycow.
To clarify, are you seeing any exploits that could be leveraged in order to root and it will take more time for development, or is it just out of the question?
Thanks,

Blu has changed preloader since v6.6. no access to preloader from sptf, so no flashing, no root
Thanks mrmazak,
Anytime sooner will there be root ?
No, there will not be root. The security holes have been plugged. The tools used to modify the phones have been blocked.
If you installed a recent over-the-air update, you are out of luck - no recovery, no flashing, no rooting. Period. End of story. Done.
Never accept an over-the-air update for a phone that you want to root or modify.

Wow **** blu.
Guess I'll just return it, you know, cause **** sales too!
Sorry, I am new to rooting with many of my phones and I am getting very frustrated at how many developers patch the root. I used to think Android was friendlier for root than iOS is for jailbreaking, don't think so anymore.
Is there a root friendly list of phones new you have on this forum up-to-date?
Sort of hard to buy a phone requesting from the seller to have the "right version" on it. Ex.) blu phone prior to v6.6.
Thanks.

If you have custom recovery , then yes. The dirty cow part is only needed to allow bootloader unlock. So once it's unlocked and you have recovery , should be no problem to root
Trash talk lol, nothing is impossible just that you can't do it simple!.

These links are generated automaticaly to obtain traffic and improve SEO. Don't trust it.
Furthermore, some of them spread malware.
TWRP is not available for Samsung Galaxy S10 at the moment. So these article are fake
In general, only trust XDA threads about root things

End of story...
So, couple months ago AT&T released an update (in January 2020) which I saw a significantly improved battery life by 25% I was planing to disable my updates for future updates because I really liked it! However, 2 weeks later one day i wake up and my phone forced a new update and the battery life got back to the same even worse that what it used to be before that first update! Now, I am looking to downgrade my update to (N950USQU7DTA3) to be specific. I cant seem to find the file. Is there a source to find it? Also, Its been years since I've done this. Is there a way you guys recommend doing it without causing any issues?
Thanks!
At&t does not post firmware. Just flash any US firmware it's all the same. It will provision to your At&t sim

Please don't post questions in the development section. I have asked a moderator to move it to the correct Q&A section, please bare this in mind for any future posts.
Do you know how I can find and flash that specific one? N950USQU7DTA3? or to find which would be the most identical?
The search function is an amazing thing...But I will do it for ya...Sammobile or Frija[emoji16][emoji106]

Well when Elliwigy and Jrkruse give information you can bet its spot on. And MrMike has been around for quite awhile. Just try to take the advice given and understand none of these guys will lead you down the wrong path. Good luck and hopefully you will find something that works out for you[emoji106]
